Apparently Allie confirmed these notes were a fake, made by some usurper. Guard will thankfully remain as it should be.
I’m sorry, but do you remember the last 3 or so times patch notes were ‘leaked’ and were regarded as fake? Yea, they ended up being real.
Word limit encourages the use of active voice. Competant writers should be able to communicate with concision as opposed to being meticulous and verbose. Passive, drawn out responses indicate uncertainty and lack cohesion. The goal is to expidite Chris’s reading, as such our points should reflect that. From what I’ve read on the first few pages there’s deffinitely ways to cut down on word count. I’m by no means a published or even competant writer, but we dont’t have to be to not exceed the word count.
CDI asks alot from the devs, it’s only fair they ask something of us aswell.

RNG strikes again!
I like Nike’s idea about a title/headline.
Having a title/headline on each proposal will make it alot easier to identify which replies belong to which proposals.
Each discussion post could start with something like:

Regarding [proposal] by [user]:

Think this will make it easier to follow each discussion.
I sure hope this isn’t directed towards the Ranger CDI. I don’t even know how I or anyone else is supposed to even hit the tip of the iceberg with 150 words. All this does is support the “band-aids only” design philosophy so many Rangers are worried you guys have seemingly adopted so vehemently. Do we really believe we’re going fix any real issues with a bunch of single, unfocused suggestions(or actual fixes)? We need to sit down and discuss what we all want the Ranger to be (or at the very least what ANet wants it to be) and then how we’re going to get there and that’s going to take more than 150 words. Sorry.

Yes.
IMO Ranger is the most rewarding in PvP-like environments. I play a lot of WvW, and let me tell you, every time I win it is a good feeling.
Of course I like challenges such as Dark Souls and Super Meat Boy…so I might just be a masochist.
The drawback is you waste 5 initiative?
if u are stealthed and miss u dont waste anything.
want to backstab guard with aegis? just attack 2 times… this example shows how bad stealthed attacks are.
Backstab stealth builds usually had no drawbacks for missing a backstab. This was a pretty hot topic on /r/guildwars2.
Instead of just flat out revealing if you miss the backstab like /r/ suggested.
How about giving backstab a 3 second cooldown while being stealthed.
before people start complaining about burst/adrenaline having no risk, there is a risk with burst/adrenaline. It goes on CD for 8 second traited (off the top of my head).
If only Lightning Reflexes broke movement impairing conditions like Withdraw and Roll for Initiative…
It always perplexed me why Rangers have some of the worst condition removal options. No reliable active cleansing at all. Such a change from gw1…
stealth is laughably op’d…..and I play a thief.
Same topics pop off because WvW is shallow.

Could you please stop to post walls of text, I don’t want to read all that.
I usually skip your posts because of that. Keeping in mind that the Ranger CDI starts soon, you should work on compressing your posts to keep them clear.
EU Elona Reach – Void Sentinels
This is a terrible idea ! Muddy Terrain is one of the only things that actually can redeem the ranger currently (in wvw).
Please Anet, don’t listen to this guy. Thanks for the feedback. Its actually more of buff than you realise, think it over some more.
How is it a buff? Muddy Terrain is basically a trap with built-in Trapper’s Expertise PLUS 50% longer range.
Ugh, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
It isn’t about theoretically higher DPS, or ease of cleansing, or greater total damage.
What gives conditions an edge over direct damage is the ineffectiveness of defensive strategies, and the ease of application. Condition damage is generally (not always, but usually) spread through either a number of passive procs, or spread evenly over a number of individually weak, low-cooldown skills.
The reason this is good for condition users is that skilled players time their defenses to coincide with strong enemy attacks, which is ineffective against most methods of condition application (because autoattacks come cheap and dedicated condition skills aren’t penalized terribly for failing to hit).
This is and will continue to be the major reason conditions are so powerful, as far as I can tell.
omg seriously guys, save the balance suggestions and analyses for the real thread. put it in a text file. or something. theres no point till monday. this isnt the thread youre looking for!
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
I trade my pet for 25%/30% damage boost to physical/condition damage
In gw1 i wasn’t forced to use pet, why should i in gw2?
Because rangers evolved to fight in tandem with animals! Except we conveniently forgot how to use an Axe + Shield…. or throw spears while holding a shield… or using a staff and chanting like a cheerleader, or using a hammer to knock enemies on the floor where we can tear them apart easier….
You know… all the weapon combos we used in GW1 to fight with a pet… because kitten logic…
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
I don’t mind mandatory pets, I enjoy pet classes. I get a furry little companion to run around with me. I do mind losing a lot of damage because I have a pet. I don’t think that’s fair. All other class mechanics are a bonus to their class, ours is the only one that has a constant drawback.
I know that AI won’t be fixed. So I’d like to see damage given back to the ranger, have the pet damage taken down a bit, but have it scale better with Beastmastery, then give the pets more of a utility role. More boons, more soft and hard CC, etc.
WvW could be more accurately described as PvDoor.
Good job guys, nice to rally the troops to show our desire for an improved class.
Good job, indeed.
I look forward to yet another series of developer posts in which they tell us “rangers are in a good place,” refuse to admit how badly they have failed with this class, ignore or delete any customer commentary on specific issues which embarrass the development team, promise “great things,” and deliver nerfs.
I just made a post to a forum post about the Anet team trying to do Temples in Orr, but they bugged out on them while they transmitted on Twitch.
The original post was moved to “Linksville” because the link to the twitch broadcast was in the OP message. That the original post was moved, speaks even more clearly to the topic I discussed in my post.
I understand why they had to move it, but the fact that no management member is even aware of it is devastating to the brand that Guild Wars built up.
I rarely disagree with moderator actions, but in this case I think they are making the damage even worse.
This message was infracted immediately after posting. Sorry about that

Is anyone even surprised at this point? All the temporary content pushing bug fixes off the todo list.
http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/480007149
Group of developers try to stream Temple of Lyssa, and it bugs 8 minutes in. After 5 minutes of trying to un-break it, they give up. They then try to do Temple of Grenth, and it bugs too.
Pretty embarrassing, but hopefully it gets them to fix these events after a year. All of the temple events still regularly bug.

Thanks for sharing. It’s pretty sad to see the sales drop so hard and also surprising to see Aion do so well. seems like GW2 may drop lower than Aion (which I find shocking) in the future. I do wonder if this severe decrease in sales for GW2 may force an expansion to come out despite the denial earlier this year?
And the conclusion is: this system does not work. Servers will always have more or less numbers and the ones with more will always win. It’s not about skill.
The game mode is broken.
Arenanet have stated that this, specifically, is something they both know about and intend to address. To quote Devon:
Devon Carver said,
Breaking up the Blob: We have some ideas here that are likely to come out next year, in the earlier portion of the year. It’s a complicated problem because of the principles of our game, namely that we don’t want to punish you for playing with more people. So it comes down to ways to incentivize and/or empower small groups more so than punishing large ones. That creates the problem of finding solutions that don’t help even larger groups. We have some ideas for changes to siege weapons that I think might help, but it is a major concern for us. To be clear, we are concerned about the value of skill over simple manpower. If you get together 50 skilled players operating in unison, we don’t want to hamper that. But we do think a smaller, more coordinated group should have the advantage over a larger, uncoordinated group.Source: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/397784/page/1
Devon Carver said,
We agree completely with the issues relating to score and population. We have some ideas for how to address this, but nothing is ready to be discussed yet as we haven’t moved beyond the idea phase. In my opinion its the single largest issue that still faces WvW and one that we intend to make major strides to address as soon as we can. The league itself doesn’t do much to address it, beyond the achievements which should provide some incentive to play winning or losing. We are approaching this exact problem with the mindset that is behind your question though, and that is that even if you are losing we want there to be a reason for you to keep playing. That’s a high level goal for us in WvW.Source: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/397784/page/2
I have a couple of problems with these quotes:
1) They knew that this patch would not help the problem? Yet they went forward with it anyways? Lets think really hard about this. You put smaller servers against larger ones with the incentive of “Achievements”? So they will continue to play even while getting steam rolled. Did anyone in that brain trust say “Hey.. how are these smaller servers going to attain these achievements if they are getting owned all the time?” The achievements for these smaller servers seem like a larger slap in the face. Anet is teasing them with a bone that is well out of reach and a 50 man zerg bearing down on them. Seems like their ideas to keep people in WvW were in the right place but was horribly executed. Anyone remember the SW Ilum PvP patch that had nearly zero protection at spawn points? People would just raise up and die. Reminds me a bit of that.
2) Not wanting to penalize zergs when they greatly outnumber other servers on the map. I do agree with this but I think there are some solutions. Look at the events that spawn more mobs and tougher mobs with more people around. How about making it something like that? When you are being beaten that horribly then maybe the game should auto spawn npc’s to help. IE: You have the outmanned buff going and your down to your last keep/tower. Enemy starts the attack and the NPC’s automatically appear in the courtyard. Level/Strength based on the degree of being outmanned. I mean if they can detect it for events I can not imagine it would be that much different for this. For what I disagree with. Making these servers wait several months until you might have a fix. Do you really think they will still be in there? Especially with an unattainable achievement system for them? Common sense please.
TL;DR version:
-League with achievements only made the problem worse and added insult to injury.
-Old system was not perfect but league should be held off until such fixes can be implemented.
-Achievements should be adjusted to make them more friendly to servers with these issues.
-Think out your patch before you launch it otherwise it may come out as lame as the first major Bioware PvP patch.
Side note:
I do have complete faith in you guys at Anet. Especially after seeing the products Bioware/SquareEnix had put out. Sometimes it is just better to make people wait for that next new thing. To make sure balance issues are truly thought out and fixed. This is most importantly true when it comes to PvP/WvW.
What I’d like to know is this. Are you (ArenaNet) actually interested in ‘fixing’ these problems?
I’m sure a lot of people know things that would fix the big problems called imbalance and blobs, PvDoor and coverage wars, and a lot of people did post suggestions, so you shouldn’t have any problem fixing it (apart from coding it and so on).
I’d only like to know if you are considering the previous as big problems or if you are actually ok with them and think they are part of the game, so I (and others) know if it’s still worth playing, or if the only option is moving to another game for decent PvP.
