Here’s a graph showing TS3 bandwidth use throughout the month of July. You can see that after just two days of Golem Week, that bandwidth use dropped to about half of baseline level.
I don’t know what ANet’s goal was, but a lot of wvw players stopped playing as the week wore on, and most guilds stopped raiding entirely. I wonder what the long-term impact of this will be.
Event basically showed me that there are a lot of servers out there with people that take this game too seriously. Instead of trying to make the best out of it they chose to give up and not play..
This event showed me that there are a lot of servers with people who take this game so seriously that they are willing to withstand the boredom that comes from ktraining in a golem for hours on end.
What a snooze-fest. A guild can only make a joke out of it for so long, like FSP’s “golem bomb” video. How many hours can they do that to make it entertaining? Probably got tired of golem bombs after the first 5 times.
My guild tried it. Our normally chatty TS channel was unnervingly quiet as the meditative quality of ktraining and watching the other server’s ktrain run away from us was lulling us to sleep.

No Baruch has to stay EU hands down. These guys are hilarious, they are so deep into their PvD experience that most of them are totally surprised if they see an enemy player. Some of them even forget to press any skills at all if engaged. So no, Baruch goes nowhere, keep the free bags rolling, hasta la vista.
They just move every thread related to WvW from HoT to this subforum. We’ve tried it.
incredible flamer, part-time forum warrior, salty as
kitten!
@Tommy – there’s a fine line between players and PvE AI. Too much challenge and the mobs of casual players turn to the forums crying and quit the game.
There’s a reason people who prefer the ultimate challenge in combat turn to PvP and WvW while others prefer to mass zerg world bosses and afk-farm silverwastes.
I don’t think your average GW2 player wants to be challenged a great deal. He may think that he does – but I think that real challenge would turn off a lot of the players who play this casually-oriented game.
Nomad would be viable if they had foes that hit really, REALLY hard, or if they had attacks that were unavoidable or something.
Just as high defensive characters pay for their build by being very low dps, very offensive builds should pay for their build with being under much greater threat.
So far that’s just not true in most cases.
We have a TON of mobs that hit really, really hard….. The irony is that Nomad’s doesn’t do enough in that situation to mitigate it properly.
The Defense/HP increase and healing from Nomads only makes sense if you’re being attacked by high attack rate, pressure style attacks, but have low DPS overall. The reason this doesn’t work properly at the moment, is that the mobs that do utilize it (Karka, Mordrem and Dredge) are balanced for 1v1 combat, so they retain very high base power or still unreasonably high coefficients on those attacks. So when they scale up, or appear in numbers greater then 3, the resulting DPS instantly overwhelms the difference gained by running Nomads, and you die anyway.
Theres actually a minimum effective health that lets you eat 2 vollys of these kind of attacks; but its requires an almost unreasonably large amount of defense to obtain this. Warriors have the least difficulty reaching it due to their high base HP and heavy armor (generally at the threshold to survive one spike). But for most other classes, you’re significantly short of having enough Eff HP to survive 1 volly without boons or modifiers.
So when the meta tries to makes assessments of PvE, PvP and most of WvW, its centered almost entirely around spike damage and damage negation.
I think those of you clamoring for anyone to get fired for coming up with this event should, grow up.
Participate in the ONE WEEK event or don’t. I shouldn’t be surprised that people are saying such things but I still am.
These are peoples lives, they are trying to do the best they can for you and all of us. Never is it okay to demand someone be fired. Whether its here or in your normal life. That is a horrible thing to do.
The devs do read this, and this only causes a greater divide between Devs and players. What we need is to give constructive feedback.
Perhaps the events should be shorter, perhaps they shouldnt last a whole week.
Thats what you need to bring change. Constructive feedback.
You make it sound like that’s never been tried here. It’s been 3 years, there has been many threads providing constructive feedback including CDI’s, how much response has anet provided in return?
Quite obvious exploitation is happening with this event and all they’ve done is shut their ears and waiting till it’s over, do you think that’s how they should treat us wvw players? do you think we should continue to provide constructive feedback on deaf ears?
You can bet if it was an exploit involving the trading post they would have been all over that in mere hours.

“Game over man, Game Over!” – RIP Bill
So I have been out working during the whole day, but it seems like ANET completely ignored the countless requests from the community to stop this event earlier or at least shift this to EoTM only, or, at the bare minimum, fix the Golem Buff exploit so that if we have to live the horror of this event, we at least live it without exploits….
But nothing, nothing at all?
Man, at this point I wonder if ANET even knows they have a forum in their website…..
“who plays wvw”? see> https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Who-plays-WvW-only/page/4#post5301422
You obviously don’t play WvW since you keep posting the same things over and over in various topics..
And why are you replying to me “if i obviously don’t play WvW”?
(If you did research: you would find evidence i check in wvw today and witness the problems)
By the way,
It has been the same topics for 3 years+, what “various topics”?
Oh you checked in? That’s clearly the same thing as being someone that regularly plays WvW. My research shows you have said multiple times in the past that you no longer play WvW, it also shows you spam pointless drivel every time you start typing.
Any hybrid build is honestly probably the very weakest possible thing to play against a necromancer. At least with full condies, you have the chance to catch them in a burst to kill, but you don’t have that ability in hybrid. They can transfer your condies, and eat your power damage in life force, which is very strong at mitigating limited amounts of power damage, like what you’d find in a hybrid build.
Running a hybrid build, you should really just avoid Necromancers entirely. There’s no conceivable matchup with them that would be favorable to you.
If you’re playing a condie build, don’t engage a necro. It’s possible to kill them, but the chance is remote if they’re any good, and the risk of getting destroyed is very high.
Power builds have a lot more options. Interrupt builds in general are very strong against necros, both condie and power. They have a lot of slow animations, not a lot of stunbreakers, and not a lot of dodges. Keep pressuring them with interrupts followed up by shatters and they’ll drop fairly quickly.
If you don’t run any condition removal, you definitely need to be careful though. Aggressively chasing interrupts in an interrupt build will put the necro on the defensive and make it easier to control the fight. Similarly, aggressively bursting at the start of a fight in a burst build will do the same thing. You want the necro paying attention to damage control, not condition loading.
Heres an Idea: NEVER EVER do this again
Servant of Dhuum
The biggest problem for me is, the blind on shatter trait, combined with the fact, that illusionary persona is standard now (which is somewhat pathetic) it makes backstabing or CnD almost impossible. i don’t want mesmer to be nerfed to hell, just slightly adjusted
It’s ironic that you would have respect for mesmers that beat thieves before the June 23rd patch, yet you cant look at yourself in the mirror. There were so many things that favors thieves when it comes to 1 vs 1 against Mesmers (a GM trait as Power Block had no effect on thieves). Now post patch, Mesmers are stronger and possibly on equal footing with Thieves, and you want to ANet to “slightly” adjust so you can still have an edge. Maybe try to be like the old Mesmers facing thieves, get better so current Mesmers can “respect” you more.
Thiefs and Necros got all the buff goodies and now its my turn to laugh.
I main a necro…what buffs we get that made us so op? Just genuinely asking.
Bruiser soldier or celi necro is the meta right now.
The main thing is wells/marks. Necro dps is actually pretty crazy when every skill hits 5 people. AoE stab/condi clear. AoE immobilize and chill. AoE boon strip. AoE plague blind counters rampage. Staff 1 can hit 5 for 20% life force. In a serious battle, a well can heal 2.5-3K through life steal alone.
I also like having 3.4K power and 3.4K armor while in DS. 4-5K crits (54% chance) with life blast are pretty crazy on a char this tanky.
event is ok, u guys are just boring or started the game. wvw was boring before it for half a year or more
some stuff like this brings a bit of fresh air into itand it destroys your lovely acs
Look, a wild PvE player appeared. That’s a very rare, shiny one. It actually thinks that ANet does right instead of the core WvW players who endured this mess since 3 years without any major changes.
Masterball GO.
Caught it. Now I can luckily store it away forever.
All we wanted was a GvG.
I hope they dont take the feedback of people who have played it for all of 10-15 minute too seriously. There will always be people who are resistant to change and refuse to give things even the smallest of chances before going on the attack.
Let’s let the week play out and, if it proves to not be fun, make suggestions on how it could be made so. Saying “it’s horrible” or “it’s pve” (which it definitely isnt unless the golems start controlling themselves) this early isnt really constructive feedback. Its complaining to be complaining.
Hm, you’re management material … seriously … and I do not mean this as a complement, mind.
Oh, so we decided to change your monitors to 10" on your PCs and to lower resolution to 640 by 480. This is a great change because it will save on electricity, the heat emission from the panels is much lower and it’s less strain on the eyes because you can see the whole screen at once … so how can you actually say that this is a bad decision after we have barely begun to change the monitors? Wait a few months and I am sure you will apprechiate what we did for you …
It’s this type of talk I get on a daily base and I have to say … SOME people can see a bad idea when it is presented top them – they do not need WEEKS or MONTHS to see that something isn’t working. Unfortunately most of them do not seem to work in management …
“Just play better, Warriors can beat mesmers just counterplay harder.”
Had a guy in the mesmer forum tell me today that mesmer stealth (even when traiting PU) is balanced and that the counterplay in wvw is a stealth trap…. Lol.
I think most people that main mesmers recognize that things aren’t balanced at the moment, but they’ll also rightly point out that a lot of things aren’t balanced. Frankly, I’d hate to see the same thing happen to mesmer that happened to warrior, basically, demands for nerfs to the class at the slightest whiff of OP, real or not, thereby unnecessarily sucking the fun out of things.
The way I beat mesmers now is catch them when they’re out of stun breaks, cc them, and then 100b them with quickness followed by AS and Whirlwind. 9 times out of 10 they’re dead, but getting into that situation requires a drunk, distracted, or bad mesmer.
I don’t know yet what’s required to bring things in balance, but I’m pretty certain blanket nerfs will make things worse.

I wrote up a bunch of things to help you out, but instead wrote this due to your sarcasm and rudeness towards another forum member for taking his time to help you.
Definitely turned a valid complaint into what looks like a troll post.
No it will kittening suck.
Then take a week off? Or better yet take a week off from ppt and give wvw’s gvg / 1v1 seen a shot.
Of course I will take the week of, that’s besides the point of complaining. When I ask for some more attention to wvw I tend to think not about siege, and in the last fact those stupid kittened up golems that ruin fights already. Why the hell would I want more of them running around.
Ok one point for you:
If you want to fight the Zombie-Golems you need golems yourself. If you have no golems you can’t fight them because they got 100% more dmg and 100% more speed.
So I can’t do a normal raid with my guild for a whole week. It will only a week of Eotm-karma-train on the normal WvW maps.
No strategies, no movement nothing. Just circle-karma-train.
Welcome to Eotm-Karma-Golem-Train-Week.
Cause its completely out of touch of how veteran players play this game mode? Another proof they are completely clueless. But yeah it is some “Attention” of Anet like you stated although poorly thought out.
I know its just a week but voicing my opinion on this cause when i dont they shove up other kittene ideas like this through our throat.
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
Don’t need counterpoints as you already listed the negatives in your main post. They could keep kitten like this for one day or a weekend max. Don’t troll us for a full week!

Yep this will be a vacation for me.
One week without playing GW2.
Uh, no……….
Yea buff golems as theyre really underpowered and useless without boons..

Of course, if they can’t ensure that all servers are active, they should transfer you to an active WvW server, free of charge.
WvW is part of the game and you have a right to be able to take part in it, without being almost totally on your own, or paying to transfer.
Paid transfers should be for people already on an active server, who just fancy playing on another one, instead; not for people who are on a dead server and have no reasonable choice but to transfer.
This is one of the reasons why I hate the no-sub thing, as I feel companies can just hide behind it, as an excuse for poor service.
Someone could have, potentially, poured $1000s into the game, via buying virtual items etc. and still, somehow, be made to feel they have very little right to expect anything very much, in terms of the maintenance, upkeep and balancing of the game.

they are needed to get rid of the overbuffed ACs which are needed to get rid of the oversized blobs which are needed to get rid of enemies ppt in this coverage game.

I don’t PvE and I’ve made 2 full sets of ascended armor, 3 ascended weopons, bought a bunch of ascended trinkets with tournament tickets, and did 4 transfers.. until I found Yak’s Bend that is.. now I’m home =)
Do you have ascended arrowcarts and ascended field of view for the extra umph ? Maybe a new ascended commander doing a new “creeping arrowcart” strategy with some ascended twist on it ?
