I would not buy any merchandise at all, I did not find this option in the survey sadly. I keep gaming and real life stuff strictly seperated so I never buy any merchandise ever for any game.

There actually is an option for that. It’s called “don’t take the survey at all, broski.” :/

100% i would buy a series of well illustrated books that had all of the lore in them. like an exhaustive history of tyria. go ahead and write it up through the GW1 and GW2 story lines. you could just create a character to act as the player character in gw1 and make the gw2 main character a descendant of that original character. id pay a good bit for something like that. especially if it covered ALL the history and went through the lore as well.

second request: slippers. and beanies. ones made to look like in game helms or some of the more… interesting hair styles

Would be nice if next expansion takes place underground or bottom of sea.
Introducing Primordus or Deep Sea Dragon.
Huge underground halls and ecosystems. Something along the lines of Journey to the Center of Earth. But on larger scale. Go all crazy with vertical maps (I’m not sarcastic, I’m just glad that Anet finally took a step away from plain boring flat maps that every single game has). Imagine visiting huge cavern systems underground where dragon was sleeping.
As for deep sea maps… I know that everyone and their dog hates underwater combat and everything that has to do with being underwater, but if done right this could have potential. Introduce Largos as playable race, reveal that they actually have extremely advanced underwater technology (almost alien-like Asura), living in massive underwater settlements and cities that go even deeper into ground.

So what elder dragon will we face in the next expansion?

First we need to list the order of the dragons’ awakenings:

1120: Primordus awakens. Comes from the latin word “primordium” which mean the first to come. His name hints at the fact that he awakened first.
Somwhere between 1120 and 1165: Unnamed “Deep see dragon” awakens.
1165: Jormag awakens.
1219: Zhaitan awakens.
1320: Kralkatorrik awakens.
1327: Mordremoth awakens. Largest influence on the world.

Another important thing is to find the connections between dragons and playable races:

Zhaitan-Humans:

  • First to be influential on the player (In GW1 you could only play Humans. In GW2Zhaitan is the first dragon the player fights).
  • Arrogant, thinks it is unbeatable, yet was defeated (The Humans never thought that the Charr will take back their homeland, upon defeat used The Foefire. Zhaitan was defeated because he didn’t knew the true power of The Pact, upon defeat Tequatel was created).
  • Zhaitan was awakened by the Humans.
  • Zhaitan was under the most sacred Human nation.
  • Always concerned with death.

Mordremoth-Sylvari:

  • Last to join the world(respectively).
  • Both connected to a spiritual realm(Sylvari to The Dream, Mordremoth to the mind and The Dream).
  • Both are literally the land.
  • Mordremoth was awakened by a Sylvari.
  • Mordremoth attacked the most precious thing to the Sylvari, The Mother Tree.
  • Corrupted the Sylvari first.

Jormag-Norn:

  • Both live in a snowy land.
  • Jormag awakened near the Norn homeland forcing them to move elsewhere.
  • Corrupted the Norn first.
  • Both promise power(Jormag corrupts beings with a promise for power. The Norn say that those who are better connected with The Spirits of The Wild will be powerful).

Primordus-Asura:

  • Both come from the depths of Tyria.
  • Primordus forced the Asura to leave their homeland.
  • Both are creators(Asura create amazing technological inventions, Primordus creates his minions from earth, lava and fire).

Kralkatorrik-Charr:

  • Both are located in Ascalon.
  • Corrupted the land of the Charr.
  • His awakening, indirectly, caused The Vigil to be founded by the charr, Almorra Soulkeeper.
  • Both seeked revenge in the past(The Charr invaded Ascalon to take it back from the humans. Kralkatorrik awakened to kill Glint who betrayed him).

Now the hard part begins.
Which race is heavily connected to the unnamed deep sea dragon?

By the connections mentioned above we need to ask a few questions:

  1. What race was forced to leave it’s homeland because of this dragon’s awakening?
  2. What race has the same traits as this dragon?
  3. What race still lives close to The Unending Ocean, which is speculated to be the resting place of this dragon?

Let’s look at the races that live underwater:

Quaggans:

  1. They were forced to leave their homeland by the deep sea dragon.
  2. They don’t have any mutual traits.
  3. They both live underwater, but the Quaggans live in lakes currently and not near The Unending Ocean.

So it’s probably not the Quaggans.

Krait:
They were forced to leave their homeland by the deep sea dragon.
Both are evil in nature.
They both live underwater, but the Krait don’t live near The Unending Ocean.

It might be the Krait, but seeing as all races that are connected to the elder dragons are good in nature, it can’t be the Krait.

So what race (that is able to talk) might have a connection to the deep sea dragon?
The answer is: The Largos.

  1. They were forced to leave their homeland by the deep sea dragon.
  2. But here you say: “We know almost nothing about the Largos” and that’s the exact mutual trait, we know almost nothing about both!
  3. We don’t know where the Largos live, but it is safe to say that since we (almost) don’t see the Largos in any of the none-ocean water bodies, they probably live near The Unending Ocean.

This might prove that when the deep sea dragon will be released, we will be able to play the Largos race.

But this isn’t what I am looking for. I am looking for the next elder dragon we will fight.

In order to find that we need to look at the hints the game has been giving us throughout both games, GW1 and GW2.

Let me ask you a few questions:
(Q)Who was the hero/hero’s race in GW1?
(A)The Humans.
(Q)Then, who do we fight in the story of the original GW2?
(A)Zhaitan, who is connected in a way to the Humans.
(Q)But who was the hero of the GW2 personal story?
(A)Trahearne, a Sylvari who formed The Pact, which were able to kill Zhaitan.
(Q)Who do we fight in GW2: Heart of Thorns?
(A)Mordremoth, who is directly connected to the Sylvari.

From these answers we can see that the race of the hero that is presented to us in each main event(GW1, GW2 Personal Story, GW2: Heart of Thorns’ story).

So now we need to find the hero of Heart of Thorns(obviously it can’t be you):

  • Logan is not the hero for 2 reasons: Zhaitan is already defeated and he is missing throughout most of the expansion.
  • Zojja is not the hero because she is missing throughout most of the expansion.
  • Trahearne is not the hero(you can’t be a hero twice buddy).
  • Canach and Laranthir are both not the heroes because Mordremoth has already awakened.
  • Caithe is not the hero because she is missing throughout most of the expansion(and is a dirty traitor).
  • Kasmeer and Marjory are both not the heroes because Zhaitan is already defeated.
  • Braham is not the hero because his goal at the end was to avenge his mother’s death and not to help the world(his motives stopped being pure).
  • Rox is not the hero since she is the most passive NPC throughout the entire expansion.
  • Eir is not the hero because she is almost immedietly dead after we find her.
  • You. You have no specific race so no buddy.
  • Itzel/Nuhoch/Exalted. No real connection to the elder dragons.

So this leaves us with a single option: Rytlock.

Now let’s think why he really is the hero of Heart of Thorns:

  1. He shows up in the beginning, saving the player and the other characters.
  2. His motives remain pure throughout the expansion: To defeat the elder dragon so that the world will survive.
  3. With his new powers he is able to lead the group through the jungle, survive the jungle, destroy blockages that Mordremoth has set up for the group, make the group stronger and most importantly reach Mordremoth himself.

So this points at Kralkatorrik.

“But what about the option that Anet will ignore the way they have been working before and just choose a dragon that is not Kralkatorrik?” I hear you ask.

Well in Heart of Thorns, both the asura, Taimi, and the Norn, Eir and Braham, leave the group at some point of the story not helping the group in their quest.
This hints to the abscence of Jormag and Primordus in the next expansion.

Still not enough evidence?
Look at this new post that was posted in January 12, 2016: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/state-of-the-game-update-q1-2016/
Don’t worry I will cover the important things here.
In the section Living World Season 3

  • “Within the golden city of Tarir, the last known dragon egg rests protected by the Exalted—but the egg begins to crack.”
Glint’s egg will start cracking, something that Kralkatorrik can’t ignore since he obviously hates Glint who betrayed him.
  • “How will the Black Citadel react when they learn of the return of Rytlock?”
Another hint at Rytlock being very important to the next expansion(I remind you that the Charr are connected in a way to Kralkatorrik)

That’s it! I hope you enjoyed reading this(this was really hard to figure out).
Please leave a reply with your opinion!

I don’t get it why would anyone think this is an okay farming method… you complete 1 META, YOU LOOT 1X… and don’t compare it to sw, it’s different… SW chests are not locked behind a meta event

I don’t do the multi loot thing. I was just wondering why you think it’s unfair? I could care less if people do it. It doesn’t affect me in anyway. I agree it most likely isn’t what Anet intended. I just don’t understand why you’re upset with people making a little more gold. Jealousy? Investments going south?

Probably because it’s an obvious case of reward unbalance. There’s no reason for AB meta to have such a big reward.
For those who like it, it’s awesome. For those who don’t, it means either to spend a good amount of time on something you don’t like or getting behind economy wise.

Keys are not a problem. I rarely do any event other than the meta one and my amount of keys/aurilium seems to be going up.
You don’t need to find a 2nd map either. You join a multiloot squad, which will usually have over 4-5 succesful maps on it, and you cycle through all these maps at every big chest. Then swap character and repeat.

The thing is completely broken/unbalanced and should be nerfed but, well, at this point I don’t expect any kind of decent reward balance from ANet.

Please stop this multi loot thing… it’s really unfair. People do meta 1x in 1hour, why do they have the chance to loot 5-6 instances? Make it so people can only loot in the instance they did the meta… Or only loot once/ every 2h

Please fix the ability to hop between maps after completing the meta and opening chests on multiple maps.

You cannot do this for any other meta event. It’s making it the most efficient and gold per hour. It’s killing other aspects of the game. Please fix this ASAP anet.

I do not like feeling like I’m gimping myself by not doing this exploit.

Please fix it ASAP!

I just want more lore, more story. This can be in form of novels (especially a novel set between 1080 and 1120 AE centered around Ascalon, but I’ll take anything), in the form of maps, in the form of a PnP RPG, in the form of a single player video game, in the form of an animated series, whatever.

I’m liking the Charr slippers idea. But if you thought you had surplus inventory issues with just t-shirts, shoes are a whole different ball of wax.

I just thought of car window decals. Imagine the “family” decal being an outline of Destiny’s Edge or whatever we have in HoT. Or just the logo.

You still need to learn a few things, and please, do it before you answer with a new fantasy false theory.

  • Multi-threading an existing single-threaded game engine isn’t as easy as making one from the ground or adding just 2 or 3 missing software components.
    Words of an anet dev:
“Software engineers are forced to properly design their applications to work well in parallel. Doing this after the fact is usually on the range of non-trivial to very hard.”
“There are conscious efforts in moving things off the main thread and onto other threads, but due to how multi-threading works it’s a non-trivial thing that take a lot of effort to do.”
  • GHz has everything to do. Bottleneck comes from the massive amount of calculations needed to do on the run.
  • Why do you relate the API with the storage bandwidth bottleneck? Don’t you realize how bad and noobish you sound?
One thing is the draw call overhead from the API and another completely different is the bandwidth bottleneck from the main storage.
  • Gw2 engine won’t be multithreaded because the real world is not Tyria. Magic doesn’t exist in the real world and a game engine cannot become multi-threaded with an ABRACADABRA. It requires a lot of time (probably months if not over a year), stopping the delivering of content, an entire big team dedicated to it and, essentially, a lot of money at the start and the willing to lose a lot of it in the mid-long term.
Chances to happen are very low to non-existent.

So instead of such amount of: “If the game engine was multithreaded…”, enjoy the game as it is, and if you have performance issues, upgrade the potato specs you have and play with lowered settings.

At the crafting station the recipes are all nicely organized into sections for ease of navigation….

The bug is that ALL of the sections ALWAYS start out fully expanded. This goes against the idea of being easy to navigate.

Please look into changing this so that the recipes sections at least start out all collapsed and neatly condensed. (A nice addition to this would be to have it remember how it was when last closed)

64-BIT CLIENT FAQ

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

It would have been cleaner to just overwrite Gw2.exe or rename it to Gw2-32.exe instead of creating a new Gw2-64.exe. The name change is going to trigger security software, drop any custom executable settings, cause your graphics settings to change due to it being based on the exe’s name (GFXSettings.Gw2.exe.xml) and add overhead to old shortcuts.

For anyone with suddenly low FPS, it’s because software like NVidia’s control panel is looking for Gw2.exe. Some laptops for example will switch their GPU based on this. Simply rename Gw2-64.exe to Gw2.exe, or go through the trouble of creating a new profile.

Is there any way to make sure I actually am using the 64 bit client, ie, that it has in fact switched me?

When running Gw2.exe 32-bit on a 64-bit OS, it will check for Gw2-64.exe. If it exists, it will switch to it, otherwise it will download it, then run it. You can verify you’re running the 64-bit client by looking at the list of processes under the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC). 32-bit applications will be listed with a *32 after their name. The 64-bit client is however forced on you, unless you use the -32 command line option, so you’re definitely using it.

Little Bug in Sylvari Personal

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: odice.8431

Warning: I made a stupid mistake because of this, but I still want to report this bug just in case there is someone as dumb as me XD.

*Description: *
When you are playing the Sylvari Personal History as an Elementalist -> White Stag -> Fighting the Nightmare -> Justice for Riannoc -> Flower of Death

Your defeat Mazdak the Accursed, and then you go and talk to Branthyn, and she gives you all the vigil’s stuff. The problem is that I choose the Scepter. I tired to put it on myself and I couldn’t, because the text said “This weapon is not for your class” while still being in the History mode. I deleted it because I thought that I chose the wrong weapon (that was the stupid part of me).

I think the problem of the “This weapon is not for your class” text (even if it is for your class) appears because in that part of the story you have the Caladbolg Sword on yourself. So internally for the character to weild it, the game changes internally his class or something like that (I was an Ele while doing it). Probably if I were more cautious, I should have left the history mode and then tried to use the Vigil Scepter.

Maybe if you change the text to something like “You can’t use that weapon right now” or something like that, can help to avoid distracted guys like me make stupid choices.

Hide player nameplates in squad

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Blip Blup.1827

Blip Blup.1827

I haven’t seen that post, sorry. Seeing that many people do like the way it works now I think the best thing would be to introduce another option. Players would be able to choose from ‘Show all player names’ and ‘Show squad/party member names’. The nameplates covering the tag of a commander is really an issue especially in WvW (edit: actually it works in WvW which makes it even more inconsistent to have it not work in a regular PvE squad) or big events and being able to switch the nameplates off was a huge help. Beside making the tags very hard to notcie I personally also find that seeing the nameplates just breaks the atmosphere. I often find myself considering leaving the squad just so I can see more clearly. If someone would like to hide nameplates it really shouldn’t matter whether they are in a squad or not.
