Space was removed from all default action buttons. Enter continues to be supported. Note that in some dialogs the default action may have been moved to another button as well.. though most, I believe, have not changed.

I just wish some of you would realize that some people are clickers and will remain clickers. That is their right just like it is your right to play the game the way that you are comfortable.

I too would like to see that option in game. No I am not a clicker, I usually use keybinds. What is also annoying is when my mouse gets bumped, and accidently lands on a skill, and the tooltip pops up as I am fighting. I have to reach over and move my mouse off of the skill to get that huge box to go away. Give us an option to hide it, please.

Hmm, my thought was that skills are to be operated with keys 1-0 above qwerty, not mouse clicking (which is absurd in an MMO).
Thankfully, I’ve had a Razer Naga for 5years and have all of my skills and Fskills bound to it.

This “fix” you’re asking for is not needed. Mousing over something was always intended to be used to grab more info about the target you land on. That’s why you have tooltips for everything you own on your account.

Wanting to fix something that isn’t broken is a bit of a waste of resources.

I don’t know if it’s the right place, as always I’m a bit confused with that forum who won’t search stuff. Sorry if I give mods extra work.

With this being said, I just wanted to thank whoever was in charge of polishing the Personal Story ; I had to wait a bit to pass “Light in the Darkness” with my reroll(s), but it was all worth it and I finished my human storyline yesterday quite satisfied.

FROM THE PALE TREE TO ARAH

  • You don’t feel second-class hero anymore. I don’t know if I was biased towards what I read/heard about Traeharne during my first run of the Personal Story, but the building-up of the Pact and your relation with the Marshal is not so frustrating anymore. He asks for your input, has a bit more character-development, and is globally much more pleasant to be around. It’s not much, just extra dialogs here and there, and to be honest I’m not even sure it wasn’t there before because I don’t have the original story graved in my mind, but I felt… left out of the loop the first time around, frustrated by the fact no one would really acknowledge me. Now ? Not so much. Without stroking my player-ego too much, I felt valued.
  • It feels less clunky. The cinematics, the global “flow” of the story, even the infamous last battle fit together. I actually had the feels for Zott & Elli— kitten you, writers ! I always had this “rushed” feel during my first run, especially in the last three zones. Again, maybe nothing really changed but I hope it’s not just me going mental and that I did not invented the weird cameras-angles and overall rush of quests the first time around. Cos’ it scares me.

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Lots of dialogs got “muted”, especially the first ones (It started with Demmi during the defense of the OFW storyline). I actually wrote down some when it dawned on me that it was recurring, and I’ll post it in the appropriated thread.
  • “My Greatest Fear” choices may be potentially bugged/clunky while grouped. Especially when you share your instance with someone at the same point as you ; the choice my mate (and instance-owner) picked worked fine for him, but I got bumped into another. Strange. Even more strange, he ended up trading his own last objective for mine at the end of Chapter 7.
    To be clearer, it went like this :

1. During CHAPTER 6 – THE BATTLE OF CLAW ISLAND : The Light in The Darkness story instance :
- Instance owner picked ; “Make another suffer” which led to this chain ; Striking off the Chains > Wet Work > Willing Captives.
- I (being at the same point in the story) got instead ; “Dishonored by Allies” which led to this chain ; Shell Shock > Fixing the Blame > Marshaling the Truth.

2. We meet up for the next story instance that we share in common, Battle of Fort Trinity. This time I host it, which led my buddy to be bumped into my chain of events and getting the same final quest than me, even if it did not fit his own chain of events (Delivering Justice which was mine instead of Liberating Apatia, his own).

It worked just fine before the NPE, since we played my 1st Personal Story together. The rest of the story involving choices (like the Orders’ plans) went on fine. So, as a PSA, don’t group for Light In the Darkness or chapter 6/7, I suppose.

That is a shame, I definitely use F12 more often to logout than to switch characters. I dont know why stuff like this always gets forced on everyone instead of making it a toggle option somewhere.

The space never should have been forced on everyone either. You keep quoting about 9200 hours, well people with as many hours were hitting it, some because they wanted too goof around when they swap characters, others because they hit it by accident.

I would have expected an option to set a keybind to log out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason for the change is more than just ‘people complaining due to being careless’.

Not the pressing of f12 itself…

F12 brings up the menu, Log Out, Character Select, Cancel. I know a number of people intending to goto char select, and would end up logging out instead due to hitting space.

That is how.

I’m a bit surprised they didn’t have it cancel though.

The price is not being bumped up for veteran players. You’ll start off exactly in the same position as a new player would.

I have to pay another $49 on top of the original $59 I originally paid.
Where do you not see this as a bump in price and how does $49 more put me in the same position as a new player?…Seems I’m down $49 more which isn’t exactly the same

I’m not saying I should get veteran treatment…Hell, I’m a military veteran and don’t get that at most places. All I’m saying is there should be an extended offer for those who have support Anet over the years. I got $50 credit and 6months HBO from Dish for being a loyal customer and asking if there were any new offers…I’m not complaining as much as I am asking…

I both agree and disagree – let me explain :p

I love dark nights from an RP perspective, and it would be truly awesome if nights could be like the dark JPs or (for more perspective) the dark forest in the snow fractal. Put torches and magical lights at streets and paths, give players a possibility to light their way with torches or somehow without losing a weapon slot, etc. One could even improve on that by reducing free running sentient mobs at night and have more wildlife.
However, as much as i love the idea of this others would be annoyed by it. I guess the only common ground possible is an option to have darker nights ingame, but that as the only change; if that is even technically possible. Some people don’t care at all about “obstacles” like darker nights. They want to do their things, farm away, etc. So yes it would need an on/off. That being said, even if nothing is implemented of this, i would like them to consider adding more things like the dark forest in future content.

I love the idea of the Personal Waypoint and I use it frequently. However, I ’d like to be able to add multiple ones on the map that are saved until I remove them. Ones that I can label and color code based on my notes.

I would use it to remind me where I found the entrance to a JP, chests I found, or a portal to the adjacent map. These should be sharable across all toons on the account so I don’t have to re-add them on every character but perhaps there could be an option to switch it off for all toons so they could each have their own personal notes. A searchable box on the map would be ideal to help me quickly find a note I previously added.

The GW2 map is vast and I think AN has done a fantastic job in so many areas of the game. The map is the only feature I find that is lacking. I feel overwhelmed with remembering where every thing is. As the world grows with expansions, this feature would simplify my gameplay and reduce frustration when needing to find certain things in certain places.

I do. That thread is for issues that require another look, a second opinion, where the player disagrees with the outcome, etc., as well.

It’s not against the rules to post there, no matter the time frame, regardless.

Edit: I don’t know how long the promotion was/was to be active, but my Guildies, who only log on on the weekends (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) weren’t able to take advantage. But, they are not the kind to bother with CS, so….

It would be nice if such promotions, at least, lasted through the following weekend, so those busy with work, etc. during the week could take advantage of ArenaNet’s occasional generosity in this manner. =)

As others have pointed out, we did acknowledge the issue in a different thread and have been working to resolve it for several weeks now. I’ve also been posting in other threads on Reddit, but I can’t be everywhere all the time, try as I might.

The issue was fixed in this morning’s patch. Let us know if you encounter any issues. The turrets and anvil should all be interactive now, and the story step should no longer be blocked from completion.

This was the main forum thread on the issue I don’t understand why it was the last place to receive an update. Good news on the fix though, but people were left angry due to a complete lack of response, what did this take, 20 seconds to write? Someone could’ve found time.

An update for those near the end of their Personal Story: The Victory or Death fix is undergoing testing currently. I don’t have a release date to share at this time, but I do want to let you know that things are in progress. Thanks for your patience.

That is the response Anet gave us, chill.
Also, no. This is not more important than HoT. Fixing something that most people have already done/don’t care for is not more important than working on an update that will make the company money.

I can’t quote because my phone and this website seem to be having a quarrel, but to the PP who mentioned the resources in this game not being adequate….

At least they are listening and working on it, based on official feedback. I have recently come back from a game that had to get all the patches from overseas, and they didn’t even know what the patches contained. Then, if the daddy company didn’t want to fix a bug, they called it “emergent gameplay” and it was just left there.

That, and it took at least 7 days for a ticket response. ANet is amazeballs in comparison.

They are working on the issue, and yes it is frustrating but this game has a ton of content.

I didn’t want to post here, but here people are throwin “kittens” at the developer face too much, if you all had the decency to check before talkin’ like, the dev section, or even the General discussion, like the one over me said without checkin, you’ll find information, cause in the Personal Story Restoration update topic there’re dev responses about this matter.
So stop making such a fuss, the bug collided with 2 event, so is not that easy to handle all the stuff. Some of the staff not being there cause of the gamescon, and also the HoT beta weekend, cause if they did repair this, and not finished everything for the beta, surely a post regarding the beta not having everything.
So relax, do something else, like jumping puzzle and other things, while they repair this.

P.s.: I also have 2 pgs that are in the wait for the last quest of the Personal Story.

Valmis, your post makes little sense to me.

The current recap is the only recap that was ever placed in-game for Season 1 – quality of S1 irrelevant.

And why would you want another item cluttering your inventory when an NPC-triggered repeatable cinematic is there? It serves the same function in the end, but is less cluttering.

And there was no change to the story anywhere, just a chance for new players to get a recap of events they missed until it can be made permanent (as Anet has said they wanted to do multiple times). They can’t/won’t/don’t want to divert resources from working on HoT to bring S1 back in S2’s format, but intend to after HoT’s release.

The current recap is literally just a placeholder using old video footage Anet made that focuses only on the plot relevant to S2/HoT (Scarlet’s stuff).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Guess my main won’t be finishing the main story then. I really don’t feel like re-doing 4 missions. If you have credit for it and it’s clearly already showing up in your sidebar as completed they should just progress through it without you actually having to do it. It’s exactly like being able to do the LW2 missions even if you haven’t done one mission of the Scarlet story except in this case anyone who being forced to do this at least has actually already put in the effort and dealt with any bugs or mishaps that happened their first play through.

It’s three short missions, you get a chance to experience the other side of the story split if you haven’t already, and you get rewards again.

Why would you not do them again? It’d only take up less than an hour in full, and then you’d have it done.

I have to agree with Konig des Todes here.

Imagine you go to the cinema to see “Guild Wars 2: The Movie”, and due to some technical issue, the last 10 minutes of the movie won’t play. The people at the movie theater apologize for the inconvenience, and they fix the issue. They decide to rewind the movie for everyone, and play the last 30 minutes -including the previously broken 10 minutes.
And here you go: “Boo! I don’t want to repeat those extra 20 minutes! I’m leaving, and I guess I’ll never go to the cinema again to watch this movie! Now I’ll never know how it ends, and it’s all your fault!”

Very irritating that a patch just came out, yet the problem still persists. I thought the personal story would be more on their radar since it plays a large part of the game for some players. But let’s be honest, many things need to be fixed with ‘Victory or Death’, including but not limited to the actual killing of Zhaitan.

It would be nice if they had a page that simply listed reported bugs, what the status was on fixing them and perhaps an idea of how long they expected to take. It is friggin frustrating to start, restart and start again when it turns out it is a bug. This has been going on long enough and it would be nice to hear something other than “we are aware”. I am aware that the sun will finally burn out but that doesn’t help much.

Exactly. Otherwise, how else can they make it more difficult to destroy stuff? Already people complain about having to type the name of items (especially if they have weird spelling) and even with that protection, I’ve heard about people “accidentally” deleting, because they just stopped paying attention after the Nth message.

I’m sympathetic to the OP situation and hope that Customer Service can help them. I don’t, however, think the solution is to make it harder for everyone else to delete stuff.

(Tip for those who do want to delete quickly when needing to type a complex name: link the item in chat, copy/cut it from chat, and paste it into the prompt; remove the square brackets and voila.)

Thanks everybody for your support, even the ones that didn’t seems to want to help.
The support team give me back the torch so all i can say i’m very impressed in a very good way how support handled this matter.

About the popups. That’s called selective blindness. I usually look at the messages in the popups, but when you are crafting and such the many messages became tedious and normal people tend to do this. However the reasons why i would move the torch that way instead double click into the rare they aren’t important for the core of this problem. Let’s call it fate.

Anyway i think they should ask to write the name of the ascended gear when you want to destroy it. I would even go further and make them indestructible, if you want them out of your inventory you can sell them at any merchant and get at least 1 gold for it. There is no point to been able to destroy such an unique and valuable items.

I would do the same with any other legendary/unique objects. Been able to sell them at the merchant allow the user to get it back in case it was an error.
Right now it’s too easy to throw away an unique item while my point is other items less important like tonics you have to write the full name of it like Endless Mordrem Teragriff Tonic with caps and all, although that you can buy this tonic at any bandit crest merchant.

Contact support. They may be able to replace the item for you, since it was clearly a mistaken deletion of the item.

As for the rest of your post: it’s honestly not too easy to destroy ascended gear. While I don’t disagree with the idea of adding a mechanic like the one for when you delete boosters and such, I don’t think it’s all that necessary. As long as people pay attention and don’t just autoclick without reading, incidents like this one will be few and far between.

So you attempted to equip a different weapon by dragging and dropping your equipped torch, but you didn’t drag it far enough and you clicked the “are you sure you wish to destroy this” popup?

I have a suggestion for you: Double click the weapon you want to equip.

Also, pay more attention to warning messages.

Those armadillos would be a lot cooler if they looked more like real armadillos. mmm armadillos
