Talking about Portal I have noted a thing, not sure if it has been reported. While trying to help a friend to get a crystal I used portal, one at the where the crystal was and then I went to a WP and placed another portal. The portal showed up normally but it wasn’t no one could interact with it. At first I thought it was a failure by placing on a bad ground but then I thought it could be because it was out of range. I think it shouldn’t work at all when out of range, it gave me the impression I could use it that far.
Just to check if it was really out of range, the crystal was one above the roof of those houses hanging on a wall at north, at 3rd level. The waypoint was Sky Docks Waypoint.
This doesn’t fix anything, but a good indicator of the portal range is if you max out your minimap’s size, and as long as you can still see the spot you dropped the original portal on your minimap, it should still be in range.
Some of my guildmates and I tested this once on our mesmers in WvW; you can actually go a tad bit further than the map if you’re on completely flat terrain, but then you risk it not working. And of course heights add distance as well, so you can’t go quite as far if you’re going to be portaling at the bottom of a cliff.
It’s certainly irritating, since you have to kind of just keep your eye trained on the exact spot you dropped the original portal without there being an icon or something for it on the minimap, but it’s how I usually gauge distances for portals (and how you can figure out how to portal, for example, from citadel to inner garri in WvW).

The Bug of people going Unknown is getting worse. now people cannot see guild chats, private messages or other guild related things. this is all because of the 136 year patch you put in to fix that switched everyone to unknown now. You are constantly patching and glitching more and then ignoring the problem you create. please fix this soon. one idea is instead of the new patch of content for living story… YOU MAKE A PATCH THAT FIXES EVERYTHING SCREWED UP SINCE LAUNCH. There are still unaddressed problems that you refuse to fix or just try to distract us from with “new content”
This is kind of a bigger problem. They have put out an item which clearly states can be upgraded to ascended, make the players do useless time crunching or spend over 20 to 50g (in my case over 20g) in the game to get the mats and say it is not possible is clearly telling the community how irresponsible they are.
We already put the work and we should reap the benefit.
Finally the wiki gets the update on “28 May 2014, at 02:35” stating the anomaly.
I’m a bit frustrated by this thread and the response to it. This has been a bug for some 3-4 months. It is certainly triggered when an overburn occurs, i.e. Tequatl is damaged past the next 25% threshold before burn phase ends. This is something that anyone who does Tequatl regularly has known about for a very long time. It is very easily reproducible, and I am absolutely certain that devs have known about it this whole time. (Not to name names, but I know one specific dev who have spoken to players about it and has attended Tequatl kills. He even asked us in Att about a month back whether or not we were still seeing the bug.)
The only new information about the bug that has been discovered recently is that it is possible to overburn so much that you can break the bug, and make things behave normally. This was reported in a Reddit thread yesterday.
I’m going to call BS on this being an exploit. Any group that is able to trigger this bug is obviously competent enough to complete Tequatl. All this bug does is: (a) make you lose out on rewards, since battery phases get skipped and you won’t be able to get credit for them, and (b) make it harder, since you don’t get the extra DPS from turrets and from double-cleaving during burn.
So, I see there’s a dev response on this, but not one on the stealth patch or bug about loosing stacks when one goes underwater. Brilliant.
I have to agree with those who find that iWarden is worse than it used to be. I got used to the occasional Warden that wouldn’t attack, but now it’s all but worthless. I figured I’d do some gambit farming in the pavilion, and I remembered having a lot of luck with Subject 7 before and thought the new signet heal would make it even better with more Wardens. First fight was smooth. Quick, easy kill. Next fight was close, the first Warden didn’t want to help. Third fight, failed. Watched at least one Warden do nothing. Next fight I had 3 Wardens out and died while watching ALL of them do nothing. Needless to say, I called it quits after that.
Like I said, I had been used to Warden failing sometimes. Didn’t like it, but I learned to not be surprised by it. I’ve never had all of them do nothing, so I’m wondering if it really has gotten even worse, or if I was just horribly unlucky.
Guild Wars 2 is a really new innovative game with certain mechanics we’ve only seen in this game. All the fuzz about how the devs create their own customized tools to create their game and such. Truly magnificent. Amazing!!
But a search-function for the forums. Nah-uh, that’s way over their paygrade
No but seriously, I’ve never bothered with the search function so I’ve grown to use the forum by searching manually. Have the devs forgotten or something? I mean… I don’t do programing but a search function for a forum? That’s seems like something you learn in “Programming 101 for beginners”.
yeah thats a problem for mes for sure. same problem with phantasms that go on full cd if target is out of range. we need better indicators for out of range stuff for sure

I can’t be the only one..
Transparent window FRAMES are nice, but not behind text you need to read. Gems on the opposing side of that window have a dark non-transparent background..
Text should not be on transparencies in this game.
Hey guys,
- discussing skills which behaviour seems illogical enough to be considered bugs is fine in the Bugs subforum,
- but discussing balancing issues and other classes’ skills is derailing the thread and is a sure way to getting it closed for being “exhausted” and “bumped for no reason”.
Back to the topic;
I noticed in the Labyrinthtmmht Cliffs today that Portal got reset on character death. Has it always been the case?
this is not the same thing as skill lag that happens during huge wvw engagements. those happen server side.
this is not a issue related to latency at all. this is a game mechanics bug that was introduced recently. it’s only happening because the autoattack animation is taking priority over other skills. your autoattack used to, and should be interrupted if you try to execute another skill.
i just dont understand how not more people are throwing a fit over this, especially the spvp players where timing and skill responsiveness is so much more important.
There are a lot of threads in the bug forum that without at least some acknowledgement players can be rather worried.
To resolve this I think two buttons that developers can press on the first post on the thread would be useful. This button will simply make a post that states a acknowledgement of sorts and specify that you can not provide a ETA.
Other buttons that may be useful that do the same thing are
Not a bug.
More information required.
A button that would add [Suggestion] to the start of a title.
So now when you’re autoattacking, then hit another skill, the autoattack will ALWAYS complete first. You CANNOT use another weapon skill during the animation of an autoattack. for example, if you’re warrior greatsword autoattacking, and you press 3 to spin, you will only spin after the autoattack sequence finishes.
I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the case before, since I’m noticing it only recently.
multiple classes have been complaining about this. this kills people in intense fights. pls fix asap. this is by far the worst bug EVER.
It doesn’t only affect other skills. I can’t count the number of times I was downed in the jade fractal because the kittening sceptre auto-attacks wouldn’t stop despite me furiously mashing F to pick up one of the reflecting crystals.
It is utterly ridiculous.
please for the love of god fix this. this is more game breaking any any of the achievement or visual bugs. it makes the game unplayable the way it’s designed for many classes and builds.
atleast acknowledge there is a problem
Concerning the question which “bugs” are bugs and which ones are attempts of balancing i would say everything not doing what the tooltip tells is a bug. For example:
The wardens tooltip is not: “on cast the warden rolls a d10 on 1-4 it attacks, on 5-7, it stares, on 8-9 it attacks somewhen within a minute, and on 10 it does something elso surprising you” → bug
Temporal curtain tooltip is not: “gain swiftness crossing it, but only when you dont have any swiftness” → bug
So I’m going through Timberline Falls and, as usual, Krewe Leader Dobbs has bugged the Excavation Heart. No problem, I can just server-hop until I … oh, whoops, no I can’t now.
This has happened elsewhere, too, like with the Foulbear Chief who bugs out around three seconds after every reset and makes getting a Trait impossible. If you’re gonna lump everybody into the same Overflow, at least address the bugs and stalling-issues that constantly seize it up.
This is still an issue.

Let’s talk about the bugs and how the list is getting bigger instead of smaller, rather than balance/l2p issues.
The only bug with mesmer downed skills I’m aware of is the rogue not attacking (same as the warden), which is on the list.
The problem is that it’s almost impossible to tell which “bugs” are failed attempts at balance and which are legitimate quirks or errors in patching.
Was Power Block “bugged”? I think it’s highly questionable and I’m not the only one. Is distortion currently bugged? If so, how on earth do you even introduce a bug like that? Was removing protection from on-cast Chaos Armor a “bug fix”? LoS? Blurred Frenzy? (I’m sure the devs would love for you to think that last one was just bug-fixing).
The guise of making every single change under the auspices of “bug-fixing” is getting tiring, and it’s starting to come off as a cheap means of deflecting criticism.
The downed thing is bull*hit to me, I don’t even know why is there. Is so frustrating, after downed alone 2 mesmers they have, while downed, killed me because they have created those Illusions. So even though you may be better than the enemy you can not win if u don’t have the numbers. So 2 is better than 1 even though 1 can down them both.
This game is flawed by design, unbalanced, buggy, rushed and I don’t think they can do anything to fix it so let the poor Anet be.
Ok let me try to understand your post, and if I’m getting this wrong, please clarify because it is hard to understand.
You downed 2 mesmers, and they used the downed skill to teleport and create a clone, and they proceeded to stack confusion on you from downed and you died (or just directly attacked you and you died)? You are aware that downed players can do a lot of damage to you right? Especially if you are zerker, and I’m going to assume you weren’t at full health as you tried to stomp?
But onto your point, you are complaining that you lost a 1v2 even after you downed both of them? You did well to down both. But the clones created from downed are so easy to kill and so easy to identify as clones since, you know, they don’t have the icon above them that downed players do. The finish counts as a skill so I assume it would trigger confusion damage. And if you are complaining about downed existing, just think of all the times you’ve rallied… wvw/pve/whatever… If you have played for any length of time, I am sure there are many times that has happened in your favor, so keep in mind without downed there would be no rally at all. To remove downed now would require a rework of so much.
If you see the stomp as the only real victory in a fight, then I feel sorry for you in your future fights, because stomp isn’t the only way to kill someone when they are downed… Trust me, PvE mobs are well aware of this.
(edit: quote kept failing and I was determined to fix it, so apologies to anyone that was confused by this ever changing post in the past couple minutes)

Hurray…they fixed tooltips.
But hey, the list is so long! One can’t say they aren’t working on our bugs, right, right? Ah, who am I kidding…
Incredible, another survivability key ability is gone: Mesmer was practically unplayable in zerg, now it is.
- One broken blink which “teleports” you to current position in zerg = death, which happens, I think… 30% of time? 50% of time?
- Getting stuck after survivability skills like phase retreat or blink bug out = death.
- Not being able to distort through lines after broken blinks anymore = death.
- Failed iLeap = high increase in chance of death.
- Nerfed vigor = high increase in chance of death.
- Phantasms not attacking gates = useless.
- Constant “Obstructed!” = useless.
- Targets constantly running away to “Out of range!” = useless.
- One AoE weapon skill = poor tagging.
- Illusions failing on invulnerable.
- Temporal curtain not stacking swiftness – buy Traveler’s or go home. Chasing fleeing prey? Forget it.
- Temporal curtain so low that its reflect is nearly useless.
- Warden not attacking.
- Warden reflecting damage to single target.
Hey, we still got veil and portal (without a range indicator)… which we can use if we do not need to slot in blink, condi removal and stability to survive, which obviously we do not as we wear heavy armour and have largest health pool and highest mobility.
It’s fixed now. A bit later that I would’ve preferred, but gotta give credit where it’s due. Thanks ANET.
This coding oversight was bloody catastrophic. Sure it was fixed but kitten did this completely destroy any confidence I had for having GW2 fun that night.
I’d rather you give yourself more time and be thorough about it than do this. Have scrubs run around one shotting whole teams and then say in map chat “BOW BEFORE ME”. I didn’t feel any satisfaction one shotting their team either.
Worst gaming experience in gw2 yet.. Glad to hear it’s fixed.
Again, thorough over speedy jobs plz.

Hey! They fixed iDisenchanter’s fifth attack! Parade in the streets commences. Think illusionary elasticity extends it? Think it works with staff clone winds of chaos attacks?
Thank you Anet for not breaking more stuff in attempts to fix it! (I believe it’s hard to invent gamebreaking bugs by fixing tooltips, but thanks anyway).
And thank you for fixing the Caledon Wurm instead of nerfing Feedback! It’s a miracle.
May be you will forget that we exist, and we will not see any more “bugfixes” breaking stuff they were intended to fix, occasional nerfs and other “nice stuff” coming our way for which we should’ve “stayed tuned”.
One can only hope.
At least we may finally have the things going now, as 2 years after release Chris Whiteside, ArenaNet Studio Design Director, the guy who advices everyone on how X and Y things should be done in the game,
Chris: I only ever use car analogies. Basically I’m essentially the customer for the group that is building the car. We work together to spec out what the car is. Then the team builds it and I give them my support and tell them how I think it’s doing from a design standpoint. Then we iterate on it and iterate on it so it handles really well and we win races. How about that?
has finally rolled a mesmer!
Chris: At the moment I am learning to play a mesmer, but my main is a Warrior, and he is a shout heal spec. 34,000 hit points, and all the good heals, and he is my favorite at the moment.
Chris: Yeah on Guild Wars 2 China, I have a level 11 Mesmer which is fresh today, and I’ve been learning to play her. This is the first time I have actually played with a female avatar in an MMO so I’m still getting used to that. It’s a little bit weird.
Chris: That’s right. I really wanted to pick a class that I know isn’t the easiest. It’s a cool class but it requires skill. Obviously I’ve had a lot of practice with a Warrior so I really wanted to go in with a class that I could at least to a certain extent be at the same level as other players in the world so I could get a feeling of how they were going through the content.
Looks like some Devs actually went to China for the release. They should be back soon and after a break be back on forums. So let’s not let the Mesmer bug page get too far behind

Based on TP issues like this in the past, expect:
- All items you listed to be properly listed once the issues are resolved.
- The coin from all items you’ve sold while the TP was having issues to be properly delivered to your pick-up tab once the issues are resolved.
- All items you attempted to purchase to be delivered once the issues are resolved.
- Yes, every single click on ‘Buy’ is counted (unless they stopped this from happening when the TP has issues) and you can expect a delivery tab full of items if you kept clicking. Re-list the excess items once the problems are gone to attempt to recoup the coins spent on most of the unintended purchases.
As a note, it may take some time for your buying/selling/pick-up tabs to update once the issues are resolved, so do not be surprised to find it take some minutes or hours to properly catch up and populate those tabs.
