I’m hopeful that they’ll take the complaints into consideration. I might not be happy with what some of the things in this update, but I still generally like Anet and the people that work there, and I think they generally, genuinely want to make a good game and make players happy.
Making changes requires more than simply good will and good intentions, so I don’t expect to be 100% satisfied, but I think there are some clear areas for improvement that wouldn’t be crippling to implement. In no particular order, my realistic wishlist:
1) Restore the old naming system, where gear used the name of the item used for looks. If I’m asking another player what his crazy staff is (say, The Crossing,) it’s just confusing for his chat link to say “Knight’s Pearl Staff” or something like that. It still previews correctly, but it’s confusing and not nearly as cool.
2) Most, or at least some town clothes tonics converted into Outfits. I’ve said this in several other threads, but Outfits are dyeable, usable in combat, and usable across characters, while tonics..aren’t those things. And take up inventory space. And have a 15 minute time limit for no readily apparent reason. While there are reasonable technical reasons to keep from making things like hoodies into regular armor skins, I don’t see any reason the clumsy tonics can’t be outfits.
3) Fix outfit dye memory. Any time you swap outfits, the dye resets. While an outfit only has four dye channels, I’m never going to want to swap outfits often if I have to re-dye them every single time. If every single piece of spare armor I keep in my inventory (which is rather a lot) can remember its dye pattern, I don’t think remembering dye patterns for the outfit slot would be too demanding.
Honestly, those three things are all I really hope for. I know we can’t have everything and still progress the game; some things have just got to go as part of the trade-off. These three things, however, don’t seem unreasonable, and I think they’re doable while adding a lot of polish to the experience of using them.

Haven’t they learnt from 7 years of GW1 that it’s not a good idea to try to force players to play the way they don’t want to play!
I think it’s part of ANet’s plan to get players to experience both PvE and PvP. Personally, I think the new system is dumb. You have less options now and are forced to do things you may not like in order to complete your daily.
Hey there! My name is Mkkoll, I am from the EU and I am here to represent the wonderful GW2Community, [NíP], [EVE] and [Wums], the first community to kill the Three-Headed Wurm.
With the new fixed WorldBoss spawn system in place, many in GW2Community are finding the current ‘Natural Spawn’ times quite inconvenient. GW2Community regularly attempted a Three-headed Wurm kill at both 21:00 CEST and 23:00 CEST if the first one failed. We would then move onto Tequatl at the next spawn and finally Karka Queen. This was convenient and efficient as far as organisation for our commanders. Events with most organisation and concentration required first down to least organisation. People could really focus all their energy and efforts on the Wurm then slowly wind down on the easier events, Tequatl and Karka Queen.I will detail the problems further below and give our suggestions of what can be done to make these bosses workable again.
The problem we are noticing now is that the ‘primetime’ Wurm event is too early for a lot of the people in our community and Tequatl and karka Queen are simply too early all together. Most of us don’t even consider 19:00 CEST Tequatl true primetime. People need time to get home from work/school, cook, eat, clean say Hi to their significant other then settle into their night of World Boss slaying. To summarize, the overall problems are the inconvenient spawn times for the EU servers that will be exacerbated for UK players in the winter and the extremely expensive prices for the guild summoning option.
The Guild World Event Unlock: We realise that the new Guild World Events Unlock was intended to address communities and groups that found the fixed Natural Spawns inconvenient. But we feel the current cost of the unlock is simply too high. If we were to continue to try and do Wurm->Tequatl->karka Queen at our previous times every night we would require 30,000 influence and 60 merits. If we were to be more reasonable and ignored Karka queen and Tequatl, proccing the Wurm is still 20 Merits and 10k Influence every night. This is a high cost for established, high-representation guilds, never mind new guilds. We simply don’t feel a new World-boss focused guild could amass enough influence and merits quickly enough to get enough attempts at the Wurm to improve at it. GW2Community took weeks and multiple fails a night to finally start nailing the Three-headed Wurm consistently. How is a new World Boss-focused guild to get the experience with one fixed ‘primetime’ spawn per night? This is not to mention that GW2Community often attempts the Wurm on multiple overflows and we simply couldn’t proc the Wurm multiple times every night at the current rate we attempt it.
How GW2Community works as a Wurm and Tequatl slaying community and our anticipated problems with the Guild World Event unlock:
GW2Community is a group of guilds that come together to defeat the Wurm and Tequatl. We all share a Teamspeak but in-game we represent many different guilds and we have many regular players that show up to these events who don’t represent any of the ‘main’ community guilds at all. Despite our large numbers, we do not gain influence in the same rapid manner full-representation guilds do as we don’t require full-representation. WorldBoss guilds usually have a singular focus and that is to take down the hardest content in the game. Most members have other guilds as their main guilds to do other things like guild missions and WvW etc where they can earn reliable influence and merits. Our guilds, which were specifically created for events like this, will not be able to spawn these bosses as frequently as we’d like. Our communities’ guilds also cannot force our players to do Guild Missions as that was never our initial focus.
If a guild is to spawn the bosses every time they want to do an attempt, then with the current maximum 120 merits you can gain a week from doing the highest tier of guild missions, they will only be able to spawn a boss 6 times a week. Since we attempt to do the Triple Trouble Wurm, Tequatl and Karka Queen every night, we are not going to be able to maintain the high merit and influence cost required to spawn these events at our most convenient time.

Sorry, but people will still laugh at your pvt gear. Nothing’s changed.
Zerk is still the best dps gear and best dps = best pve set.
Forums are a place for feedback. If no one complained, then Anet wouldn’t know what players wanted out of their game.
Most of these main threads are even created by Anet themselves to get feedback about the new features. They want to hear the complaints and concerns so they can “listen to our feedback”.
So telling people to stop “crying/complaining” completely goes against the whole purpose of these threads. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else. Your post contributes nothing to the feedback. Complaining about complainers is not very constructive and doesn’t provide any useful feedback for Anet.

Guys calm down.
I understand that all these kiddies cry now with their dps toy gone.
Actually people should be forced to play 60 days GW1 before doing this crap to Gw2.
Now you guys are confronted with thinking about smart build and opponents armor actually matters again.Great Job A-Net
This was exactly what we needed.
It keeps my hopes up for LS2Thumbs up
Gw1 Is 10 times better than what will Gw2 ever be.
Gw1 had great pvp, great pve and GvG.
Gw2 has no GvG, has pve that keeps getting worse and Pvp (lets not talk about that one).
If you really want people to play Gw1, they will realise that Gw2 has nothing to do with Gw1.

Now there will be more zerker only LFGs because those zerker groups that previously had enough DPS to bring a non-zerker with them now won’t be able to.
Instead, you’ve never gotten another dime from me, beyond the initial purchases. Every time I have been tempted to buy gems, I think about how greedy it felt during the 2012 halloween event when the BL Chest drop rate for the halloween weapons was stupendously low. I remember all the content that was removed. I think about all the minor (unvoiced by me, but pointed out many times here by others) complaints I’ve had that were never fixed, and the fact that there is not going to be any expansion any time soon, when it should have been here or have been announced, at the least.
Posts like this are always so bizarre and disingenuous, specifically for the argument here (which always seems to come about in some way or another). You’re saying you’ve been tempted to buy gems, but refrained because of a previous complaint, which ArenaNet has massively improved at this point? Gem store weapons like the Halloween set have been made hugely more accessible, yet you still refuse to buy any because they used to be a problem? Why should ArenaNet ever address any of your concerns, if you’re just going to cling to past issues as an excuse to criticize them in the future, even after those issues have been fixed and improved?
For all your complaints, you sound like the type of person who will never be satisfied, no matter how close ArenaNet manages to bring the game to your ideal fantasy.
Most of his critiques are about the game itself, not the gem store that you used the fanboi generic response on after focusing in on it.
A very good set of posts, Blood.
Frankly, now that season 1 of LS is over and the latest patch is out we are pretty much three steps back from where GW2 began.
The new wardrobe may add some convenience but it doesn’t really add any functionality to the game.
Role playing has been decimated by the megaserver move and the removal of functional town clothes.
At the end of the first living story we have no new dragon yet. No new areas opened up. Lions Arch totally empty. No significant changes to WvW. And the writing of LS was just really shallow. There was little to make you care about the characters other than maybe Rox and Braham.
Loyal guilds and alliances like TTS were totally ignored when they asked for the schedule to be altered to allow them to continue to do major bosses. I don’t know what will happen with the temple runs worlds like IoJ used to do now that world bosses spawn further apart.
We still have a grind for ascended gear, even if it can now be shared between toons.
Comparing how GW2 was on the day after release to how it is now, well, it just feels like we have less, not more. It really feels like they put out the info on the latest patch, asked opinions, and then proceeded to ignore every single thing their players said and every response we gave.
It just isn’t much fun now.
frankly, the new gemstore armor, which looks like rehashed versions of what we already have, is pretty much appropriate for this game. It is a badly rehashed version of what it was 12 months ago with less now than it had then.

I didn’t make it through the whole rant unfortunately but I agree on what I did read. This is a talented team hampered by poor direction.
Who ever is steering the ship has no clue whatsoever what the customers want and this game could be far more successful right now without them. How many people have asked for a way to re visit missed living story content and they just don’t give a kitten?
What is the rational exactly? temporary content actually alienates people. It doesn’t cause people to be “hooked” and tune into the next episode. Some people just cant do it due to real life obligations and then when they do get time its to late and so they are basically made to suffer. This has actually caused me to re evaluate even bothering with this game. Why bother coming back when there is still nothing to do because I “missed” it.
Where the hell is the expac as well. No one like running around the same zones over and over grinding 50 doors. 50 champs,50 of this. etc. etc.
I feel like this is one of the few sane posts on these forums. Everywhere else there are people praising arenanet for removing the ability to run champion trains, nerfing the already incredibly poor dungeon loot, and essentially charging you to reuse skins you’ve bought prior. And we can’t forget that nerf to the berserker armor that doesn’t change the game in any meaningful way, outside of making it so coordinated groups take slightly more time to complete a dungeon.
I think the comparison to “battered wife syndrome” is an clever one, considering the amount of people on these forums that are praising arenanet for such asinine, pointless changes in favor of actual balance and permanent content.
This update would’ve been mediocre if AT LEAST the wardrobe didn’t require you to purchase something to use skins you’ve already bought, but it’s worse than mediocre at this point.
Something tells me this thread will be removed either way. Can’t have anyone criticizing poor development choices or business practices, no siree.

Yeah I really think Living Story turned out to be a colossal waste of their time and could have been spent giving everyone a couple permanent zones, dungeons, jumping puzzles, armor skins, legendary weapons and maybe even a few new skills.
Instead, they spent months and months working on and rolling out story releases that lasted less than a month each and are no longer accessible to anyone.
Guys, HUGE +1 on this one.
I don’t want a ‘Pearl-Spear of Mother of God blah’ … I want my Al’ir’aska back
I’m with the thread -starter here, what have you done anet? All items we transmuted before the patch now show the name of the item that delivered the stats instead of the skin-name.
If it was intended, pls change it! If it’s a bug, pls repair it!

PugLife SoloQ
I was part of the “alliance”, but when you, the leaders, started with your swearing at and insulting the random people that just happened to be at the chosen map, suspecting them of being ’taxi’ed’ by some of our members, I lost any respect towards you. “Only the members of the alliance can be here; otherwise, gtfo!”, were the words of some of you. How… mature.
I think it’d be healthy for the community if the TxS went away.
You know what would be a good fix to:
“Not to forget about: “Average population from the same guild as the player on joined map: +5%”. As mentioned before, we are not just one guild; we’re spread across four.”
Adding alliances, like the ones we had in Guild Wars 1. It could even fix the problem of not having enough merits and/or influence if we could ally with a guild that has merits/influence to spare (that is if merits/influence are shared between allied guild)
But still, this would only fix one minor problem and, as agent mentioned, there will be a lot of people who will stop playing because of these issues. (BTW +1 to map instances)
The mega-server is not going to be implemented world wide at the start no. It will be in stages. BUT, the spawn timers for the bosses IS being added. Why change Teq and Wurm from alternating every 2 hours? Its fine as it is! If its not broke do not fix it.
As for what we are hoping for? We are hoping our community remains intact with this patch and is not disjointed and fragmented, and then ultimately destroyed by it because we cannot get all 120+ of our members in teamspeak into the same map.
3. Spawning world bosses using consumables for guild merits/influence.
You guys made a game where people can join 5 guilds at the same time. So people join one for guild missions with friends, one for WvW raids, one for doing dungeons and, for example, TxS only to kill Tequatl and Wurm. We can’t even comprehend why you did such a thing since even players from 500 people guilds join TTS or TxS just so they can kill Tequatl/Wurm. Do you really think that giving people the ability to spawn those events will somehow magically change the way guilds work? The only thing that this will lead to is flaming and whining on the forums because guilds with 35 players are able to spawn Tequatl, but it’s too hard for them to kill it! Nerf it! Just like what happened with the Mad King jumping puzzle.
ArenaNet idea: Tequatl and Wurm might be fun events for casual guilds to try. Let’s make it so that they can, given the guilds are able to grind for merits and influence, queue their own world bosses!
In doing so, we will force our guild mission content on all the guilds that are not designed for guild missions at all. On top of that, offering double rewards for having to do guild missions not only in the guild that is meant for that, but also in a world boss guild just so they can unlock the content the guild is purposed for is obviously out of the question.
Question: Now you expect people to do guild missions in more than one guild? What for? Will they get twice as much commendations? Probably not. Will we be able to gather enough merits to spawn Tequatl twice and Wurm once a day? Everyday?
TxS guilds exists only to keep all the people together in one place because we all want to kill Tequatl and Wurm. We never wanted to do guild missions together, or any other guild activity for that matter, to be honest. Not to mention you allow players from different servers to join the same guild. How do you expect TxS or TTS to gather influence and merits for those “consumables” if each server carries its own influence?
You can’t just force those ways on every guild. Certain guilds serve one purpose and one purpose only. We kill Tequatl and Wurm and that is the only thing we do, as everyone has their own guilds for guild missions already.
Our solution: If you really want us to spawn those events using influence/merits you should make sure that both will not be server-based anymore on the same day as the patch hits, not half a year later.
You might think that this post is just another old man’s rant, but it is not. Since the information release of the Megaserver patch we had pleasure to talk about it on TeamSpeak with at least 500 of our guildies and those are the concerns that were raised.
Now, ArenaNet! Don’t take this the wrong way; the idea behind this Megaserver patch is awesome it will help casual players in whatever they want to do, but it seriously hinders the thousands of organized non-casual players like us.
To give you the simplest example, look at your statistics, how many times did Vabbi kill Tequatl or Wurm? Now let me ask you another question: do you really think that the great population of Vabbi gathered around and did that? And do you really think that getting more casual players on the same map will lead to them successfully finishing those hard events? There is a reason we have an organized guild like this, because it takes a lot of organisation and cooperation and teamwork to kill these bosses.
You usually do not get feedback like that from communities like ours because we know that it will probably get ignored anyway and we won’t accomplish anything, but this time is different since the patch puts the survival of guilds like ours in serious question. Lots of people in our guild, like myself, only play this game because we have these events where the organising and doing them as a team is the last fun part of Guild Wars 2. If this ends, many will consider leaving, like me.
This is a serious matter to us, so I’d like to ask the general community of the game not to use this topic for flaming or trolling because you won’t accomplish anything anyway.
As a leader of TxS I am also asking members of our alliance not to participate in flaming wars if any were to occur. Be polite, respectful and stay on topic.
(Big thanks for Chiiwii and Fyridor for spell-check and grammar ^^)
(edited by agenciq.8043)
(I would hereby like to request forum moderators not to merge this topic with other Megaserver feedback threads. We don’t just want to give feedback, we want to raise serious concerns here regarding the future of guilds like ours, rather than being lost among flame and suggestion posts. Thank you in advance.)
At the start I would like to apologise. It is not my intention to offend anyone, especially not ArenaNet nor any person that plays in GW2. I will state the facts as they are without any sugar-coating and sometimes truth is harsh, so don’t take it the wrong way.
Let’s start with a short introduction; I’m Agent, one of the three leaders of the biggest EU community dedicated to slaying Tequatl and Triple-Headed Wurm and probably all the future “hard” bosses we might get. The TxS Alliance, as we call that community, is a home for over a thousand players enjoying the complicated events in-game. The Alliance is spread over 4 multi-server guilds; TKS, THS, TSS and TXS. We usually kill Tequatl at least twice a day (more than 300 confirmed kills) and we managed to kill the Triple-Headed Wurm over 50 times since its release. This all would place us amongst the most experienced in these events.
Of course, we are not the only ones; NA servers have its own community called TTS (which exists of 10 or more guilds and houses around 5,000 players). Since we operate in the same way I think that I speak on behalf of all those people.
We have created said communities for these hard events, but with the upcoming Megaserver patch, that will most likely come to an end. This is why:
1. Average population per map copy: +225%.
This is how we organize our events: Get around 120 people on TeamSpeak, guest to a server, check if the map is empty, invite all your members and kill Tequatl/Wurm. I guess I do not have to remind anyone that maps fit 150 people at most.
ArenaNet’s idea: Get everyone, regardless of server, on the same map. This way, every instance of every map will usually be almost full.
I understand the point of view of developers; you basically want to squeeze as many people as possible on a map so “casual” players will always have someone to play with.
But hey.. what about the NON-casual players?
Question: How we are supposed to do these events now when ¼ of the people will end up on map instance one, ¼ on map instance two, ¼ on map instance five and ¼ on whatever other map instance there is? If your answer would be: “But people from the same guild will end up on the same map!”, that might be true, but to what extent? You will end up on the same map, but that map will already have people on it. What happens to those people when more guildies try to join in and the map is already full? Do those people get ported over to a different map instance, or will the guildies not be able to get in anymore?
Not to forget about: “Average population from the same guild as the player on joined map: +5%”. As mentioned before, we are not just one guild; we’re spread across four.
Our solution: Guild-specific map instances. Since we can pay gems to make our private pvp arenas, why can’t we pay gems to create our private Sparkly Fen, or Bloodtide Coast? Where only specific guilds can enter?
2. World bosses spawn time changes.
I do not know what statistics you guys look at in your office but I can tell you now that no-one will kill Tequatl at 04:00 AM in Europe. How did you even pick those times? Since September we kill Tequatl every day and I must say that our guildies never asked us to kill Tequatl at any of those ridiculous times before.
ArenaNet’s idea: Since we already squeezed all the people on the same maps so they are not empty, how about we limit world bosses to only one kill per day, at a realistic time? That’s great! Now these maps will always be full at this hour because, let’s be reasonable, there’s only one time most of the people will manage to join after work/school/university/life in general. (Which is 19:00 cet)
Question: What exactly was wrong with Tequatl/Wurm spawning every 2 hours? People/Servers could pick whatever hour they wanted to and finish those events at a convenient time but now they can’t. “You will be able to spawn those bosses using consumables bought with guild merits/influence” NO. Which takes us to the problem number 3.
Our solution: Um… leave the spawn times like they were and everyone will be happy? Because there was totally nothing wrong with that.
I think if Anet made the game you want, OP, most of the people playing the game would leave. The very stuff you see as “stuff to do”, I see as a waste of time.
It’s not the the game is bad or good. The game isn’t for everyone. It works for a whole lot of people and doesn’t work for other people.
Pretty much like every other MMO in existence.
You would stop playing if they fixed the PvE meta allowing for roles besides dps? If they made world events and bosses have a meaningful impact on the game word? If dungeons were fun and rewarding? If there was more armor skins to choose from that didn’t come from the gem store? If… give me a break
Everything in OP’s post are things that are really wrong with the game, and yet every post here is kissing anets kitten.
He didn’t ask for things like “oh I wish we had flying mounts” or “oh I wish we had open world PvP” or “oh I wish we could buy instant level 80 scrollls” etc…
How to put it…? Anet doesn’t believe in adding permanent content.
During all of the living story kitten we’ve had, they’ve said they’ve added stuff that’ll stick around… but just tiny titbits here and there – nothing of actual note. Oh, and they wrecked Lion’s Arch just because they could.
I love this game, but we need something new. And not new shinies being dangled in front of us – actual content that people will play because it’s fun to play.
I haven’t played GW2 for nearly a year now.
I thoroughly enjoyed most of the game; I have a couple 80’s and some fairly high PvP-rank characters. Very close to world completion, high level crafting skills, etc.
I decided to see how the game has come in the past months and fired it up again; after a large amount of patching, a good bit of nostalgia, and a couple of hours, I found myself in a state of déjà vu; I got that same feeling of “there’s really nothing to do” again.
How could this be? Months of content and patches being added but still there’s seemingly nothing to do.
Well, it got me thinking. I really like the structure of the game; it’s got a ton of potential and the ANet team seems very proactive when it comes to their game. It’s just a matter of direction, if you ask me.
Here’s some of my concerns, take them for what they are; I’m sure many people agree as well as disagree and think I’m an idiot.
• The loot isn’t fun. There’s very little variation when it comes to items, besides aesthetics. While leveling up this isn’t too much of an issue, it kind of dulls the experience at max level. Sure, I don’t have full Ascended gear, but I’m also not very compelled to put a ridiculous amount of time and effort into getting them due to one, these items don’t really have a meaningful impact on gameplay, and two, there’s no gameplay that really merits them.
• Nobody really does dungeons; they skip them. If people are going out of their way to skip content, don’t you think there might be something wrong with the content? Most dungeons contain too much filler and lack real “loot” for your efforts; that doesn’t create a challenging, rewarding, nor immersing dungeon experience.
• Build diversity and overall balance could be much better. Nowadays, it seems like nobody likes you unless you’re full Berserker, using your classes “best” weapon. Doesn’t that seem a little strange to anyone? If balancing between PvE and PvP is difficult, why not just balance them separately?
• World events should be more… worldly. Off the top of my head, one of my favorite world events is when that huge Giant runs over that low-level Charr town in one of their zones. I like that event because there’s repercussions for not dealing with him; your town is pretty much useless. What good are world events that really don’t have any weight within the world around them? Would be pretty fun if towns getting attacked was more of a regular thing; it makes the world seem more dangerous.
Living story content is great and all, but shouldn’t the focus be on content that’s fun and repayable? I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather see:
? Added a new zone where players fight the native clans for control over rare, natural resources!
- Rare and bountiful resources that appear randomly throughout the map are guarded by powerful monsters!
- Monsters periodically assault player hubs; the attacks never stop!
Than…
? Some kitten with a giant robot spawned in the middle of the mountains somewhere; go kill it if you’re bored and looking for somthing to do.
Hate it. And here’s why: I’m part of Attuned, a guild focused on fighting those “Hardcore” mega bosses. While it’s nice we can start the boss whenever we want, it’s terrible that we can no longer commandeer a map for ourselves.
Let me explain. Fights like the Triple Headed Jungle Wurm require coordination by 120~160 people with at least 110 of which in the same teamspeak. To accomplish this, my guild has been guesting to empty servers or forcing an overflow for private use. This ensures that we have only people who we know we can count on in the map and furthermore ensures we can actually accomplish killing the Wurm on a regular basis.
With the changes to the current system, it sounds like there will be no such thing as overflows, and no such thing as “empty maps” to guest to. In this case, it seems impossible to purge our runs of PUGs who are either geared incorrectly or unable/unwilling to follow commander instruction. Thus, this system makes future endeavors at killing the wurm (or any future, more-difficult boss) futile and impossible. Our guild is very dismayed over the fact that there has been no considerations for this situation and are skeptical that when this patch hits we’ll be able to kill wurm at all anymore due to the excessive amount of incompetent PUGs that will always be inside our (now merged) Bloodtide Coast.
While reading this i’d like to puke all over you. People like you are the worst thing which could ever happen to a game!
wow, just wow. What a horrible way to talk to someone in a public format.
Just to be sure, i’d say it to his face too
Saying someone who is not playing “correct” is incompetent is as unfriendly as i was, so i think we are both fine.
Not really… playing inefficiently and causing an event to fail is pretty much the definition of incompetent… Your inability to comprehend that is not really his issue…
So, it seems that some people just simply can’t get enough of it – the “bobble heads” addition for 01 April – and, I don’t want to take any of that joy away from any of you: more power to you and I’m glad you’re amused.
Me, however. I do not enjoy having this forced upon me. Not giving me the option to remove it (and no, changing times/zones does NOT help me) is beyond the joke!
As stated, more power to those that enjoy it but, those that do not also have a valid point and wish to be able to flick this off in options.
NOTE Do not bother to exert your precious energy to try to tell me to cheer up – or some such nonsense as it would only be meaningless and judgmental drivel. Cheers.
