Salvage 4 Profit + MF Guide – http://tinyurl.com/l8ff6pa
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
I’ve only read the first post, but that’s all I need to see right now..
Phant you’re really off base. Why would you ever suggest nerfing a class based on available armor? You need to nerf the armor.
Was D/D overpowered before celestial hit the scene? Honestly ask yourself that. No. It wasn’t.
Celestial is and was the issue. Celestial needs nerfing across the board or removed in PvP. Simple.
Strength runes need the same. So do balth runes.
It is upsetting when people suggest nerfing your class based on one set of armor which makes it overpowered. That’s an obvious miscarriage of balance, and I hope others realize that.
So one last thing, if people are abusing macros to heal more, that’s obviously a bug that needs fixed. Don’t put it in your vendetta for more nerfs.
Seems very poorly thought out in my opinion, to suggest nerfing an entire amulet for one single build on one single profession.
^ that makes more sense than anything I have seen in this thread.
Edit: Ele is a celestial class it make perfect sense celestial works best on them.
It’s too strong on eng as well… basically the classes that can make use of all the stats it’s too strong on. You can go balth with eng and not stack might and it’s still brutal. That means the ammy itself gives too many stats and it’s not related to might stacking.
Balth Celestial in pvp doesn’t sound that good. I’ve never seen anyone do that. Might as well go rabid on engi at that point.
Go try it, it works well. The burn damage is strong and celestial helps hedge against anti-cond. With rabid you’re left with bomb auto attack at best for direct damage and that’s reliant on your opponent being stupid enough to stand around and just eat them.

It’s also used for the dwayna backpiece.
I wouldn’t mind the downed state if they balanced them better. As it is there are pretty obvious tiers.
Ele (unable to be stomped on the first attempt)
Mes/Thief (teleports/stealths make stomping much harder)
Ranger/Guard (able to stomped on the attempt if you use a cooldown, but can at least stop multiple stompers at the same time and speed up their own res)
War/Eng/Necro (single target cc, war/eng have projectiles so that can even be obstructed by another player/pet/small rock).
There is a pretty wide gap between the top and bottom tier…

Sell everything that’s not profitable to salvage or at least break even.
The thing to me is always if you care about money that much. Take a mining pick and farm rich iron or platinum node(especailly if you have watchwork mining pick), or try one of the fast farming methods.
I just think manual checking every single item to decide if it is better to salvage or sell just take too much time, you are better of just salvage everything and spend time doing other methods of farming.
When I was maxing my mf I quickly got a sense of what to keep and what to sell. At most it would be checking the tp once every few days to see if the mat prices changed. It wasn’t like I was checking every single item every single time. Most of the “work” was finding out aprox how many mats came out of what on average (which is in the link to the other post).
Even the most basic knowledge of not salvaging t5/6 leather or t5/6 wood (due to the foxfire) will go a long way if you’re trying to up your MF.
The profits I came out of doing this at the right time and doing it well were far more than farming a few rich nodes…
It’s more efficient to know what you’re getting and put in orders for things specifically to salvage for a profit + MF in addition to that. The buy orders do the work while you’re off doing other things and you can get far more items to salvage that way Vs. whatever you can farm yourself. If you’re going to be going for MF, you’re going to be salvaging a lot of things. So yes the OP should sell the greens that are worth substantially more than their salvage worth.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
Game isn’t balanced for 1v1… but you can duel in specific pvp dueling servers. You can also duel in the OS (WvW) with PvE gear/stats/food, however, that’s even less balanced.
The only people this would cater to would be those that are too lazy to click a couple of buttons to get into PvP/WvW. Not worth whatever resources A-net would need to put into it.
Sell everything that’s not profitable to salvage or at least break even. If you want to try to max out your MF there are things you can order to specifically salvage for MF + small profit. That’s how I maxed mine out and made a large profit.
I salvaged mostly cloth in between when ascended weapons and ascended armor and held onto the cloth. Some other things were profitable to salvage as well since wood/metal prices were also up at the time, but the large bulk of the profit came from that. Ascended JC-ing should come out eventually.
You might want to look into salvaging things that yield gold/platinum for longer term investments/chance at much higher profits.
This is old, but the general idea and information is still valid. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/How-to-profit-while-gaining-MF/first

Same, waited for FE, killed ogre, didn’t change my orb. Now waiting for it to reset and try again.
Update: Relogged, put orb as the first item in my inventory, emptied starter backpack (although my inven wasn’t full in the first place), tried it again (2nd attempt), still didn’t work. This is the same character that I received the orb on. It’s not giving the option on the interact.
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
So… just waited around for ~1h and did the fire ele and the ogre after. Was able to interact with the console, but it didn’t change the chaos orb→resonating. Several other people were not able to as well.
So much for that we don’t want you to have to wait to play stuff…
I keep T5/6, cooking mats, all jc-related metals, orbs, sell everything else that I’m not using, and keep stuffs for daily ascended craft.
Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
You can assist on a kill and then AFK for the rest of the game and still receive rewards! There will always be people who exploit! PvP gives such tiny rewards anyway! Are we all really going to get our panties in a bunch over some guy who’s awful at PvP wasting his time spectating hotjoins for minuscule rewards! It’s hotjoin! Anet should focus on actual issues like Skyhammer in solo q and server desyncs and not waste time with hotjoins!
Also you can’t remove rewards from hotjoins! There are people who aren’t esports enough, aren’t good enough, or maybe not interested in playing solo or team arena! These people deserve rewards too!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
Doesn’t matter how much you personally feel it rewards people (loot/achievements) it’s being exploited, so obviously others find it to be enough. That then also causes the people who want to go there for fun to deal with 4v5 etc. constantly. It’s bad for everything. Hotjoin is a place to experiment with builds etc. Not farm loot/ap. It doesn’t even help teach you how to play pvp (which is the argument why spvp even exists). Thus… it should not be rewarded (problems solved).
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
It’s hotjoin! Nothing is ever an issue in hotjoin! Why! Because it’s hotjoin!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
ATM hotjoin rewards bad behavior with loot. That’s an issue that should be addressed.
If they removed the reward track loot progression from hotjoin that would solve this problem with minimal effort from a-net.
Well if you people are complaining about the fossils wait until you have to collect the foxfire cluster, they are even worse in drop rate
Chopping trees that frequently “grow” in clumps is far easier than having to do events to get tokens for keys for rng. You can also buy foxfire with gold.
I don’t think the rates are too low. From personal + info I’ve gathered from people I know, it seems to be somewhere in the 1/15-1/20 range for each. The problem occurs when people have horror stories of not getting one in 80+.
To solve that they should have just made them tradeable on the TP imo. That gives people who don’t really want anymore of them something better to do with them than turn them in for a few green bags, and helps people who are having problems getting one, or don’t want to go through the grind a way of obtaining it… and this would give a-net more $ from people buying them with rl $ → gems → gold.
Seems pretty win-win-win to me. Not sure why they didn’t take this direction.
Will these be possible to obtain from trees after part 1 of the story?
Tp being botted at night – Rares level 77-80 (Mace, Focus, Shield, Torch, Warhorn, Harpoon gun, Spear, & Trident with current bids up to around 35s each). Typical tp bot behavior, putting in bids for 2 of them over and over etc.
Rapid Fire: Reduced cast time to 2.5 (or 2 and 1/2) seconds.
Does this mean a 50% increase in dps or the skill just doesn’t last as long?
Gosh this isn’t the end of the world people. Does it make SA less powerful? Of course, but that’s a good thing. The cruth that is that traitline needs some counters in game. As others have mentioned maybe 1/20 engis run this skill. Its not useful in Condi builds anyways so it won’t impact those fights much. People overreacting to what might actually be a well implemented change.
I wasn’t trying to say that it was. I’m just against some of the changes I’ve seen thusfar. Buffing ai (pets) and adding in another hard counter. Not the direction that I wanted to see the game go.
I’m totally against this. Eng is already a soft counter to thieves as is. Hard counters = bad. I like having my “prey” able to fight back properly. Stealth already has enough draw backs in pvp. In no way does my eng need this. If this is a wvw only change… then fine whatever idc.
it would be helpful to add the Kind of weapon to the recipes we can buy.
Would be against People who choosed the wrong recipe.
I agree, I had to look mine up before crafting it. That’s an unnecessary step and could easily cause confusion.
For anyone that wanders in here looking for them all -

How does binding your mouse wheel stop you from needing to re-enter the bids?
That lego device… doesn’t sound “legal” since it’s not you actually doing it.
I still don’t see the vast majority of people doing this legit. That’s far too trusting of the type of gamer that would go around doing these things.
There actually is a latency between clicking the Button for posting your bid the first time and the amount value of your bid resetting, so you can order multiple stacks, if you click fast enough. Manually, i usually can order between 8-12 stacks with fast leftclicks before amount and value reset and i have to reenter them. With left click bound to mouse wheel, i get up to 40 stacks (10k buy orders) before i have to type in 250 into the amount window again. That only takes a couple of seconds.
About the lego device, its not a program or macro and it performs single key strokes for each action, perfectly legal. If i would want to go crazy in buy orders, i would attach the counter wheel that turns my mouse wheel ton electric drill, which has a way higher rpm than a lego motor.
just to be clear, i dont think anet cares if you make a machine that presses the button for you, or a program does it. They can ban you for either case
If you read the ToS, they actually dont need any reason at all to ban my account and there would be nothing i can do.
That’s giving them a reason though lol. I’ve enjoyed talking with you in the past, so hopefully they don’t. I just don’t take any risks personally. Put too much into this game and seeing it go poof would suck : /
I actually had a topic where i did some research on the different salvage kits to find out if the chance to salvage higher tier materials is broken or has a wrong tooltip ( they are broken). In that topic i said that i used an auto clicker for it and reported my own post, asking the mod to tell me, if its against the ToS and if so, remove my post.
Nothing happened.
Interesting
This is like complaining that Ryu is OP because his DP is easy, he has a fireball and good normals, and it’s easy to combo into Ultra. That doesn’t make him OP just because he’s beginner friendly though.
…only that war is more like e-honda difficulty with his 100 hand slap… if e-honda could become immune to damage… and had projectiles that covered half the screen
Is that actually a thing people complain about? Honda sucks.
He wouldn’t if he could become immune to dmg and had massive aoe… aka I think you missed the point.
You mean like the warrior’s massive AOE projectiles?
I would call being able to put down an aoe that more than covers a point massive, yes.

Right now, it’s cheaper to buy rare then to craft them. Just saying.
Ah… my OP isn’t clear on this point, but I’m not talking about buying materials just to craft rares.
Even if you have the materials, I’m pretty sure you can make more cash by selling your crafting materials then buying rare weapon instead of crafting them directly.
Depends on the weapon you’re going for. Keep in mind that the TP will eat 15% of your mat sales which might make the difference.
I don’t think that logic would hold up if a-net decided to crack down bro…
Ok thief is a predator like class. Big damage is part of the play style I understand that.
The main problem I think is they could maintain anything forever thanks to traits related to stealth. Health, initiative, clear condis (they got the best condi remove in the game btw).
They just hide and they return to combat when they feels like and fully regened. When you fighting with them you find yourself in a never ending loop of combat which is very boring and annoying.
The only thing could be good against them is the most hated skill in the game: Moa:)
Who cares if they stealth… they can’t cap when stealthed, can’t deal damage if they want to maintain it, and can still receive damage. Best cond removal in the game? No… just… no.
play any condi build to counter
Agreed. Eng is extremely vulnerable to conds.

If you think that the vast majority of these people are manually entering that many bids I have a bridge I would like to sell you…
@ OP yes it’s good, but doing your daily COF P1 etc. dungeon rotation will get you more $. Do those first. If you get in a good dry top server, it’s better than cursed shore.
Aoe is king for farming gold. If you’re just killing one random lone mob after another, that’s not going to net you very much $. Guard has the best spammable aoe. Tagging is very much key to getting loot every since they lowered the damage required to get credit for a mob. Most events are going to give you a ton of mobs semi-near a waypoint, so mobility isn’t that big of a deal and swiftness is enough to get you there. I would only pull out a scepter if it’s a single mob that I don’t want to get close to.
IMO Guard > Eng > Thief (short bow)… but eng will give you carpel.
I was more disappointed I didn’t get pretty flowers for my female asura … she’s still a girl even though she doesn’t have bewbs dangit.
Love the female version, bought it for that version. I do agree some parity in designs would be nice (why is the genie pant cloth set not a little Aladdin-esque vest on the guys??) but that doesn’t make me dislike the female version of this item.
Give asura a bigger bosom. Problem solved.
Wait… after all the threads and months of this happening you guys are just looking into it now? I’m grateful that you are, don’t get me wrong… but this has been an issue for quite some time now…
I don’t see an “issue.” I see a formerly nearly useless TP statistic turned into an vaguely interesting sociological statistic. I don’t see how the economy is affected in the least by what shows up as “top demanded,” except that the alleged manipulation highlights (a) some items that people didn’t even know about and (b) shows how much tedium people are willing to suffer in order to make a few extra coins.
The same type of person that’s fine with manipulating people to gain a few virtual coins is also probably fine with breaking the rules a bit to get what they want. It’s not tedium… it’s people using a program to put in mass buy orders.
It also covers up what the actual top demanded items are, so now it’s not serving its intended purpose in multiple ways. That’s an issue if you’re trying to give that information to your players.
Ehhhhm. If there are so few buy orders, why are prices on buy orders all hovering around the 70g mark and sell orders at the 90g mark? That’s the highest we’ve seen thus far; only tormented weapons came close to these averages.
They are, therefore, insanely popular. This is mostly due to the spacy sound effect when ley line weapons are unsheathed. It sets them apart from all other black lion weapons.
How popular something is depends more on how many have/are being sold vs how much they fetch in the auction house. You can price the only remaining shiney bauble at 1,000,000 gold, but it doesn’t mean diddly if it’ll never sell.
+1 swiss cheese comment.
Agreed.

Deceptive Evasion should be a GM trait and clone generation elsewhere should be pushed up slightly to compensate.
Mesmer in general should be less dependent on their traits to generate clones and more dependent on their base abilities.
It is indeed GM worthy.
Make Deceptive Evasion a 5 point minor in illusions
I lol-ed. That’s a crazy huge buff.
your examples are a bit weak imo. The steal you describe is already heavily traited, the thief has to give up other stuff in order to achieve that. Berserker’s stance only occupies a utility slot and can be traited for longer duration with an adept trait.
Corrupt boon is strong, no question there, but the conditions, you get, can be cleansed. Only the boon rip can not be countered directly. So 50% of the skill still counterable, or with a lucky dodge (happens more often than you would think) all of it. Same as lightning flash + X, depending on the X. If it’s Churning Earth for example, what I have seen some day in the past very often, then it is easily avoidable. Berserker’s stance is but available with the hit of a button. Just like that. And no one can do anything about it.
So all in all your examples are not the same as insta immunity against all conditions for 8-10 seconds.
Yea but still, the skills that cant be dodged or interupted should never exist in the first place.
If berserker’s stance was nerfed then thieves/ medi guard would be the hard counter to warrior because of spammable blinds.
Blinds is the thing that kills warriors completly because only 2-3 skills deal damage while others dont do kitten unless its axe auto -attack. So if most of warrior’s attack miss its GG.
So yea berserker stance is OP but blind spam is also OP.
Don’t stand in smoke fields then?
Zerk stance would be fine if it didn’t last so long, it was strong at 6s…
Growth hormones.
This is “normal” btw. There is some charr event where you pick up chickens and it does the same thing.
P.S. It took a lot of effort to not put up an inappropriate joke here…
Yes it’s bugged. Dulfy agrees.
I’ll re-examine the algorithm for top demanded items and see if it’s a problem. Pushing 1c orders on expensive items to change the front page isn’t the intended design (obviously) so we’ll take a look.
Wait… after all the threads and months of this happening you guys are just looking into it now? I’m grateful that you are, don’t get me wrong… but this has been an issue for quite some time now…
@ OP I have never spent any $ on this game, nor will I. I have enough in game funds to buy whatever new shiney comes out.
It would only have monetary value if you could turn gems/gold into rl $
You’re paying for a service.
This thread has been made many times. If you want something right away then buy it for the buy it now price. If you don’t mind waiting, then put in an order. Flipping is good, it brings prices to an equilibrium faster.
TBH I laughed when this happened. Not because the event itself was funny, but at how little set up there was, so it’s not like I cared… and how seemingly unimportant this character was.
Why not just get to know some PvE people that do runs, then do runs with them regularly? That way you don’t need to deal with the LFG full zerk only class A,B,C types, and the group will almost certainly be stronger/faster…
I have some amazing people to play PvE with (hint in my signature) but it doesn’t help when they’re not online, does it?
The point isn’t with finding solution, but with having to do it…
There are guilds for that then…
LFG =‘s PUG =’s random people that expect everyone to be as bright as a dead lightbulb =’s full zerk class XYZ only. Back in the days of the lfg website, at least you knew they cared enough to get onto the website, and thus probably had some sort of idea about how to play.
I understand why they do this stuff too… if an eng (or whatever) that I didn’t know joined a party I would be like… >.> I hope you’re one of the few that actually knows what you’re doing… but the majority of players won’t. That leads to bad experiences and people thinking of a class as bad rather than those particular players. I know it’s not ideal by any means, but this is how things are now. It’s not as if A-net or anyone is going to change the minds of the masses : /
I haven’t done a dungeon in quite a while, and holy kitten I don’t miss having to deal with this kitten anymore. PvP is a far more entertaining way of obtaining PvE gear now with the track rewards. If I need gold for some reason, there is always playing the TP while watching a show or whatever. That solved this issue for me (although I did have a guild that I ran with, but yea… there are times when only the not so ideal people are on).
(edited by Aberrant.6749)
Guards and wars are very different classes. Guards do better support and higher dps, wars do better faceroll. It’s comparing apples and oranges.
Why not just get to know some PvE people that do runs, then do runs with them regularly? That way you don’t need to deal with the LFG full zerk only class A,B,C types, and the group will almost certainly be stronger/faster…
A lot of people seem to be pointing out that it’s not imba in PvP.
WvW is inherently imbalanced. Stealth is one of the lesser of the reasons why. If you want a balanced fight, go to PvP. If you want imbalanced fights go to WvW.
The TOS is written in a way that just about anything can be a bannable offense if A-net wants it to be. If they considered this to be abusing the trading post, then yes. If they used a program to automate the buy orders (which all of these people do, otherwise it would take forever) then yes.
