Depending on class/traits rabid can take the hits and still remain above 50% hp as well. Very few people are using rabid atm though.

As if there isn’t already enough aoe cond cleansing going on to make them almost a non-issue outside of very small scale roaming as is?

As if people can’t swap to -40% cond duration food whenever they come across a lot of conds and use power food otherwise? It’s not like you can’t use food while you’re in combat.

Removing food from WvW would also limit build options. I don’t WvW for a PvP like experience with imbalanced numbers, siege, and npc’s (yay random deers I can rally off of!). I WvW for the full crazyness.

If I want to play something balanced I’ll go play PvP. Don’t feel like dealing with food? You have the option to do the same.

I do fault anet for making 1111 zerging/outnumber or run/“coverage”/whatever you want to call it tatics good in WvW though.

you’re a fool. so basically blame the playerbase for playing the gamemode lol. people like large scale fights, they are core to WvW. Did anet somehow not foresee this? What did they think would happen by makig 3 servers fight each other with a 100 man cap on each side along with putting a giant castle objective in the middle of the map. The new stab changes are what is probably responsible.

Please re-read what I wrote, I put blame on both.

There is large scale then there is a map filling blob all in one spot. I’ve seen 3 swords on a single map and had little to no lag. It’s only when everyone 11111 spams in one spot. If that’s your thing then expect lag.

It’s not 3 way blobs that are causing the lag anymore. Fights as big as 40v40 are causing lag which never happened before.

Saw multiple large fights with 40+ vs 40+ and it wasn’t lagging much. 80+ vs. 80+ yes though. Idk if you just had a ton of AOE going on in that particular fight or what.

If you see a lot of eng, roll a necro. Necro rotflstomps eng.

Celest needs a nerf, but that’s not eng specific. Overcharged shot could use a tell, but that’s a minor issue.

Engies are dev’s favorite. There won’t be any nerfs.

Funny that people have said that about every class (other than maybe ranger) in the past. War will never get a nerf, hambow dev fav! Necro will never get a nerf dhuumfire dev fav! Ele will never get a nerf, nado self res dev fav! Thief will never get a nerf heartseeker spam dev fav! So many “favorites” that have been nerfed. Weird.

if you can’t kill someone with no stability, no stunbreaks and abysmal condition clear you need to reevaluate your play, or if your build just can’t do it let another member of the team take care of them.

Yup, I don’t have issues killing them on my cond eng at all. I would much rather face a turret eng vs a cele or cond one that knows what they are doing.

At the same time though, it does nothing to teach the player how to play an eng. No kits is blasphemy! For that reason I wouldn’t mind it getting nerfed. Seriously though, if you gave overcharged shot a tell and nerfed celes that would be enough imo.

I would be interested if you did a study on the subject. I’d like to know as well. Personally, I tend to keep them for holiday rewards. If we get a reward track that’s anything like Wintersdays was, I want to be able to complete it A LOT of times.

Yea I’ve been saving mine up for the expansion to se if they add anything good then, but might pop them for an event if it’s really good. It would be pretty easy to find out, it normally takes 80 PvP pots for 1 full track (1.25%/pot), I was just wondering if anyone had done it already.

I know they don’t work with the call of the mists, but do the Potion of PvP Rewards work with the celebration/birthday boosters that add 10% to reward track earnings?

If I finish a track does it eat any excess reward points or does it apply them to the next one in line?

I think my main problem on this is the people who complained about WvW being map completion will still take part in the tournament to milk the AP

Of course they will, they’ll take the rewards and ap then leave. They’ll take the buffs from WvW and not put anything in for it.

to me, none of these are good reasons to keep a flawed system. In a real economy, flawed systems cannot stand, because they are inherently inferior to better solutions.

Again this feels to me like two separate issues. One of price, one DIRECT availability, meaning you go obtain an item, you do not go obtain an intermediary item and exchange it for the item you’re looking for.

To the first issue, I’m not sure that I agree that there’s an issue. I haven’t seen strong argument that leads me to believe that a change wouldn’t leave everyone worse off. Silk is certainly not inelastic.

I’m not ready to discuss the second issue just yet.

I thought the temporary increase of supply was a good solution (like what happened during wintersday). Maybe you guys just need to increase the frequency of these to get silk to the price you want it to be?

The price of scraps has been higher in the past. It’s at about the same price as it was July 9th 2014. Seems like a normal fluctuation to me.

As far as why it takes so many more scraps idk, I didn’t agree with it back when they changed it, but I remember reading that it wasn’t a mistake. I don’t see why it should change now that so many have invested the time and resources to make cloth armor.

The drop rates on cloth do increase with various events (wintersday gave them out from the dusty clothes for example). Too expensive for you right now? Just wait and see what the next event brings and save your gold. The stat difference between exotic and ascended armor is very small anyways.

im starting to realize, that most of the people disagreeing with fixing silk/ascended, are basically just trying to protect their current racket.

Current racket? I’m making damask ascended armor for my mes right now and preparing what I need for a revenant. I’m paying these prices as well.

People are asking for the amount of silk available to be increased (the most fair way to everyone to lower the price of cloth) and I point out that it has been in the past temporarily, hence the price drop in cloth during wintersday. I suggested how a player could wait for this to happen again with the next LS events and thus not pay higher prices. That would be bad for me if I was trying to just keep prices higher and make gold for myself. It just makes no logical sense.

Seems more like you’ve already made up your mind about what you want and won’t listen to anyone else and just toss aside what they have to say by trying to attack their character instead of the argument itself.

OP it doesn’t really matter what other people feel something is worth. It only matters what it’s worth to you. If you really like the look of the skin and it completes the look you want, then go for it. Expensive skins tend to increase in price over time, so if you decide you want it later, it’ll probably cost you more.

That being said, if it’s all the gold you have, I wouldn’t personally. I would use that gold to work for me by buying skins and then wait for those to go up in price and sell them. I don’t farm much at all, so I like having my gold work for me.

If you farm a lot though and don’t mind farming more, go for it. This is a game. If you would enjoy it more with that skin then it’s worth it

Seriously people? Most games make you buy extra inventory space. Gw2 lets you convert gold→gems to do it. Same with your own character inventory space. It’s really not any different other than you have the option of using rl $ as well as in game currency.

You can start a personal guild and expand your personal guild bank and get more space that way.

Too many extra mats laying around? Make a storage alt, sell them, or trash the ones you can’t sell (it’s not like dragonite etc. are hard to get).

Want to save a skin? Salvage it and use a transmute stone later (easily obtained from PvP or map completion).

Seems to me entitled feeling people are just complaining that they have to play the game they bought to get extra bag space… which is pretty silly.

Depends on the specific builds. It’ll also depend on what your opponents are playing. If you’re fighting a lot of thieves, then mes is probably going to be harder etc.

People are almost always oversimplifying when they say X or Y is easier.

Nah… why would I spend all of my gold when I can use that gold to work for me by buying skins, flipping, etc? If I had excess gold and was still able to do those other things, then I would spend that portion, but not all.

I would just leave that guild. I would break up with a sig other if they tried to tell me who I could and couldn’t hang out with… why would I put up with that from a guild?

I’ve been a member of a large guild for quite some time, but I’m also a member of smaller ones. Just about everyone knows who I am in all of them. I’ll help any of my guildmates if they ask, but no one can just claim me.

IMO if you want people to rep, give them extra things for doing it (I know some guilds do things like random giveaways, raffles, fun silly events, etc.). Just demanding 100% rep with the threat of kicking people out otherwise is redic. That shows me that they don’t really care about me, just what I give to the guild in influence, merits, etc.

Stealth needs more counter play. For example, if you block or evade a backstab attempt from a thief, it should reveal them. This will promote higher skill cap and strategies between both parties.

No, terrible idea because of how stealth works in gw2.

You can’t just sit in stealth forever without any indications.

Blocks/evades are far too plentiful.

If you’re using a dagger OH with thief, the ini + must land c&d requirements were already met. With d/p the ini cost is far higher and you can interrupt them before the HS. The only stealth you can’t prevent is the blinding powder utility. What you’re asking is for there to be counters before and after. That’s redic.

Stealth in GW2 is fine in PvP. If they are stealthed they are not capping or doing damage. Thieves are good in PvP not primarily because of their stealth, but because of their mobility which allows them to back cap and +1 fights.

Stealth in WvW is whatever because WvW is massively imbalanced in far greater ways than just stealth (coverage/numbers > all).

There are classes/builds that don’t care much if the opponent goes into stealth (eng/necro/ranger).

The only thing I can see stealth is a little off is how a mes can drop AI (and thus still deal damage) while remaining in stealth, but even then not a huge deal since they can’t cap or hold a point and mes ai dies when you sneeze at it.

That, I disagree with. EotM promotes mindless zerging. Champion trains promote mindless zerging. But Dragon Ball? It’s not mindless at all. A team that zergs is extremely vulnerable to AoE damage from skill #2. A single player can shut down a whole team if they are chasing one of your teammates in the pit and you have skill #2 handy.

I think Dragon Ball is far from mindless. It works a lot like a small-map FPS. Unless you consider all FPSes to be mindless zerging, then you can’t accuse Dragon Ball of it.

So it has to be worse than EoTM for it to be mindless zerging? You blob up and spawn camp. If one person even manages to get to the aoe, you can just have one person use winds or daze them. But yea I guess it’s harder than fighting a door? >.>

And dear Dwayna no, this does not deserve a reward track.

If you’re an uplevel I suggest you stick with a few others and focus more on cc. You can’t deal damage like fully geared characters, but you can cc just as well.

WvW is imbalanced for far greater reasons than just uplevels anyways.

If an uplevel could deal as much damage as a 80, there would be no point in getting to level 80 and gearing up in WvW. Scaling already diminishes the advantage a bit in WvW, be grateful for that, most games don’t do this in their PvP/PvE hybrid type modes.

There is also another place where your level doesn’t matter if you wish, it’s called PvP.

It would be nice if they allowed you to speed up Mastery XP gain, but I suspect that they will simply continue to give you 1 skill point after you reach level 80.

I would be fine with either, but them removing the XP bar from all level 80’s makes me wonder.

I would assume that tomes would have to be reworked, otherwise they would lose a chunk of their value.

I hope so, but nothing has been said. At worst I would pop them before HoT for the skill points.

You will be able to make a new revenant, use your tomes of knowledge to get it to lvl 80, and the get started right away on the new maps.

I would still have 272 left over if I did that now and I’ll be getting more from PvP/login before HoT comes out. I’m wondering if they’ll be useful outside of leveling characters to 80 after HoT.

I doubt you’ll get a clarification. However I would expect the tomes to be either reworked before hand or afterwards. Too many people are getting them in the login or PvP rewards for them not to.

It would be nice if they did seeing as a lot of PvP players have oodles of them.

What will happen with tomes of knowledge after the expansion? Will it help with the mastery track since leveling up won’t add skill points? Will I even be able to use them on my 80’s at all? Should I use them for skill points now if I don’t intend to make several other characters (I have a lot of tomes)? Clarification would be greatly appreciated

No, not hyperbolic. I’m just not talking about only T1 like you seem to be. There are other tiers you know…

No, not clueless. Unless you’re staying up 24/7 doing zerg busting all week you’re not going to be making much of a difference in the overall PPT. Coverage and numbers > skill. Seems more that you have illusions of grandeur… which confirms my point about zerg busting inflating egos.

Not trolling. I’ve played on many servers. It’s not like I’m the only person that I know that plays gw2 and I’ve played on multiple accounts. I’ve been over at friends houses who play on other tiers. Seems more like you can’t even fathom anything beyond T1 even existing.

There is a thread on the first page of this sub forum (it’s directly below this one while I type this response, lol) about people being heavily spawn camped. They are getting farmed. Seeing as you missed even that, I find your statement highly dubious to say the least.

Both EOTM and regular WvW yes. There are constant events for everything. Kill a yak that doesn’t even fight back? Get some get some karma Xp gold Wxp. Walk into a green circle? Get some karma Xp gold Wxp. Kill a single vet mob? karma Xp gold wxp. It’s all over the place all the time.

Sorry you find bags that contain t5/t6/cores/lodestones or kitten each on the TP to be worthless junk. I disagree, so I would be happy to accept all of your “junk” heavy loot bags. <3

Downed players are easier to kill than things in PvE or PvP. In PvE you generally need to kill several things during an event to get credit (there might be some random ones I’m forgetting, I think you might be able to afk for one of the guild missions in a circle?).

So you don’t even include things you get from WvW rank up chests as loot you get from WvW? I don’t even…

You’re probably confused because you seem to think that WvW is something harder and more serious than it is.

Anyways I’ve made my opinion clear. I don’t feel like bumping this thread up anymore.

Hey if you find totally outnumbered fights competitive that’s ok, that’s just not me. To compete is “to strive to outdo another” I don’t find doing things in WvW to be outdoing anyone else, thus it’s not competitive.

I’m not complaining, it’s you who are complaining about the rewards. Me not agreeing with you isn’t the same as a complaint lol. I already brought up how people are trained to outnumber or run. PvD vs. little or no resistance when possible and roll over everything. It’s hardly unique to T1. That type of behavior is already rewarded enough

You MUST have top tier food and superior siege uses must like you MUST have that new pair of jeans. Nothing is forcing you to. It’s your desire to have it and your choice to spend your time and resources on it. Saying otherwise is just not taking responsibility for your own choices.

So now you’ve moved onto baseless accusations? I’ve done plenty of zerg busting. I’ve played plenty of prime time WvW. I’m in a large dedicated WvW guild and have been for a long time now. I enjoy WvW, I just have no illusions about what it is. Also… the thing about zerg busting… it does nothing other than boost your ekitten so say you bust a zerg, that little difference you made is easily undone by PvD coverage.

If anything WvW is too rewarding for how it’s played and how imbalanced it is (not just talking about t1, but over all the tiers). There are constant threads about how server X is just farming server Y with their greater numbers. These other servers would also see greater rewards. WvW is already great for karma and skillpoints (through leveling up with constant events). If you’re doing large group fights, then you’re getting a lot of loot bags (even better $ now than before since there are no repair costs). You can walk up to an already downed player, hit them 1-2 times and get loot. If that’s too hard, you can literally just walk into a green circle after other people have killed the npc’s and get rewarded for it. You can get ascended weapon/armor chests and ascended jewelry from WvW. So… no we don’t agree that WvW should be more rewarding than it is now.

I don’t agree with what your definition is of competitive. You can put it in bold + italics + sparkles, it doesn’t change anything. If it’s a blatantly unfair fight, that’s not competitive. With yours, a T1 server going to T5 would still be considered competitive. PvD and rolling over players sure is competitive…

WvW is constantly full of extremely one sided encounters. 10:1 fights happen all the time. What happens if you don’t fight 10:1 on many servers is that all your stuff gets capped over night with zero resistance. Seriously, when was the last time you saw an even fight in WvW? Why do you think most EU servers gave up on PPT so long ago?

You have to pay for top tier food? No… you don’t. Nothing forces you to use food of any kind. Nothing stops you from using food that’s less expensive and 1-2 tiers down. The most common zergling food is lemongrass poultry soup… which is 42s/30m. So just using that for 3 hours costs you 2.5g. You could even just use Poultry and Leek Soup which would drop the cost down to 81s for 3 hours or use other less expensive foods… if you even want to bother using food at all.

You have to pay for superior siege (and I’m reasonably sure that’s just about all you drop)? No… you don’t. You can get basic siege for free with badges. You could just not drop superior siege and ask the pugs to do it when you run out. If they don’t, then oh well. You choose to spend on all of this and let people leech. Nothing is forcing you to.

PvP should earn you more. It takes a lot more skill than WvW (outside of practice which shouldn’t reward anything imo). You’re asking for this outnumber or run PvD stuff to reward as much or more than PvP? No. That’s ridiculous. Be grateful it rewards as much as it does in its current state.

Lil Devils is right, you’re not making any sense. WvW is per definition competitive. Whether it’s properly balanced is a whole different story, but it has zero to do with the fact that WvW is per definition competitive.

And forcing even numbers isn’t necessary. There are other solutions, such as the ‘Outnumbered’ buff. Granted, the way the buff works right now is absolutely stupid and doesn’t really make any difference, hence I have yet another suggestion:

Suggestion 5: Improve the ‘Outnumbered’ buff

Right now, the ‘Outnumbered’ buff merely gives us a small bonus to exp, wxp and magic find. This is not good enough and doesn’t help evening the odds. I suggest to add ‘+50 to all stats’ to the ‘Outnumbered’ buff. Maybe crank it up to ‘+100 to all stats’ or maybe even ‘+150 to all stats’ if the outnumbered server is severely outnumbered.
On top of that I would like to see a ‘+50% gold rewarded’ buff for being outnumbered as well.

So if I was to go into a 10v1 you would consider that competitive? That sort of massively outnumbered situation happens all the time in WvW. People are trained to outnumber or run. Don’t even fight back, just go run for more friends. So no, I don’t see it as competitive.

So you want to buff players in order to deal with them being outnumbered? +100 stats wouldn’t do much with how much people zerg. If you wanted to do that it would need to be constant and not just when outnumbered (scale with the amount of players on each side). So then a player could just 1 shot people with a backstab/rapid fire/whatever. People will tell others to leave the map so they can keep their large buffs. That seems like a good idea right?

It’s not even that WvW isn’t profitable right now. The only way it wouldn’t be is if you’re paying for top tier food and the siege for the map and your guild/server isn’t helping with the cost of siege. It’s not a-nets fault people decide to do these things. 30 champ bags from a tower/keep plus karma/xp for 30 people (both of which can be turned into gold) plus event gold is worth more than what you put into taking it. Then you also have the heavy bags which are good $ as well.

it but it’s because of us WvW players that you get exp bonuses, bonuses to crafting exp, bonuses to gold from monster, etc. etc. etc. The better we play in WvW, the higher that bonus is. Sadly those bonuses are often more beneficial to the PvE players than us WvW players.

Me as PvE player doesn’t care wether you guys are giving me bonuses or not. I even forgot I get bonusses because players love to play WvW.

I think you guys in WvW should be rewarded for doing what you love to do, but this is just some crappy argument that we supposed to be thankfull?

Agreed. It’s their choice to WvW. You owe WvW players nothing for a measly 5% xp buff or whatever.

If wvw rewards were implemented properly, you would earn more in wvw than you would dungeons due to wvw costing much more to do than just about anything in the game. Making wvw unaffordable for all players isn’t exactly making for a good game. Once you buy siege, influence for buffs, food, upgrades, it gets expensive to play. Pretty much wvw is PAY TO WIN and it shouldn’t be that way. If done properly, you would even have something left over to upgrade your gear after buying all that stuff, but it is a money sink instead.

It is indeed pay/zerg/coverage to win, thus not really balanced or competitive. That’s exactly why it shouldn’t be rewarded as much as other aspects of the game which are better balanced.

That makes no sense, in other games it is rewarding to be competitive, and it is much more balanced than gw2. To help balance it , wvw should be self sustaining not requiring you to do anything else to enjoy it, just as you can enjoy pvp without doing anything else. Many games the pvp gives more personal reward to players than pve, and it should. Coming from full loot, no safe zone pvp games, the idea that players should not be rewarded for pvp in wvw makes no sense what so ever.

Giving players rewards would help remove some of the pay to win imbalance issues, since you would be able to support playing wvw by playing wvw, and not just by credit card. LOL

Wvw Players spend more real cash on the game than anyone else, they deserve some loot too. For some wvw players, wvw is the entire game, as they do nothing else, and would rather play another game instead of being forced into pve. A game mechanic is supposed to be bringing in players, not sending them elsewhere, it needs to be resolved.

WvW is not competitive. It’s pay for siege/transfers/outnumber to win. Rewarding players more would do nothing to help this. To balance WvW you would need to force even numbers. That’s not going to happen though because people don’t like queues. You want competitive, go play PvP. Why should they reward some one well for playing in the easiest/least balanced part of the game? That makes no sense.

Suggestion,get rid of the kittening lag.I dont give a kitten about rewards if the game is unplayable most of the times.

That’s what happens when the game mode is designed in a way to where zerging is often the best option.

If I didn’t chase down people that tried to run, I wouldn’t get many kills in WvW as a roamer in T1. I swear there is some training that says don’t even fight back, outnumber or run away 2 friends. When people try this and I’ll hunt them down even if they run into a camp, stomp them, and spam laugh.

WvW is the least rewarding because it’s by far the least balanced area of the game. At least in PvE the mobs scale… 50v10 fights don’t scale players. PvP should reward more than PvE imo though since it takes more skill (outside of practice which shouldn’t reward hardly anything).

PvE is more tedious, yes, harder, no (unless you wait for the color rotation). Even if you do that, it’s still hard harder and more tedious getting every other part of a legendary in PvP or WvW compared to PvE.

Seriously PvE spits out t6/lodestone/dung tokens/gold/etc. at a far higher rate. WvW is the least profitable area in the game. People need to check their PvE privilege.

One small part of getting a legendary requires something outside of PvE and people complain… try making one if you mostly do WvW or PvP. It’s significantly more effort. If anything they should put more things into WvW and PvP that are required to craft them and less in PvE to balance it out better.

How many skills in the game can remove more than one condition?
How many skills in the game that apply 3 conditions?
3 conditions on top of many other conditions = good luck counter play that.
Balthazar rune is broken on Engi.

Ok, and power has things like air/fire. Should some one be easily able to bunker/outheal some one fully devoted to direct damage without seriously investing into anti-direct damage stuffs? No… that would be silly. Same goes for cond.

Even if you’re bad at a class and never intend to play it as your main class, learning more about the other classes will do you a world of good. Hotjoin/unranked are fine places to do this. I wouldn’t do it in team though.

Ranger was in a bad spot before the patch so anet does the easiest thing to “balance” a class. They just increase the Dmg, instead of changing class mechanics, supportskills etc.
Increasing / lowering the dmg cant be always the solution.

1500 range burst is only avoidable with certain skills, that you may not have available with your class or with a change of your whole build or with luck cause you got the right skills out of cooldown. Otherwise you will get perforated.

You need 1 dodge to avoid a warrior´s evis. other classes are in close range to burst so you have many options to defend yourself. You can either dodge, CC, soft CC or use a block/invul skill etc
You would need 2 dodges for the Ranger`s rapidfire and you would still get hit.
A ranger just has to secure to keep the distance.
You could argue a mesmer can do exactly the same. But from range its far less pressure than the ranger offers and its not from 1500 range.
1500 range is imo the big problem. You cant bring a gun to a knifefight.

And those storys about using a magnetic shield and the ranger kills himself dont make any point. How bad was that ranger? We arent talking about PvE rangers here.

Many good players i know tried a power ranger nearly the first time after that patch and laughed about how easy it is. It shouldnt be that easy… Ranger shouldnt want to have it that easy.

I have WvW rangers kill themselves on dagger storm constantly. Sadly WvW rangers tend to be worse than PvE rangers. WvW seem to have issues even swapping weapons. If you just sit on a longbow in PvE you’ll get kicked from a party.

If the major of PU mesmers wouldnt have used any stealth skill, the trait would have never been nerfed.. so what

It’s very rare for something to be nerfed for WvW reasons. WvW is imbalanced in far more severe ways than any one specific class.

People are complaining about rangers in general in WvW. So yea… kinda are.

“Competitive” WvW will never exist unless they force the size of servers to be the same and queue the rest. That’ll never happen though.

Just merging servers or whatever won’t do it. Even in high pop servers/brackets it’s still numbers & coverage > skill. PvD + outnumber or run tactics 24/7.

It’s the least balanced part of GW2 (also why it’s the least rewarding).

You want competitive, go to PvP.

Wars have too much counter play? Their down states is one of the best in game and almost uncounterable. I’ve seen a warrior use his downed-state-rez to revive his whole team by stomping.

thats like saying, necros down stat is one of the best in game, because i saw a necro feared some one off the edge and rezed the whole team including himself

He’s also ignoring that the entire team was down, but they couldn’t finish anyone off before the war got back up and stomped some one. It’s not the war #3 being strong and, but the team being bad. Same with the dude that positioned himself near a ledge where he could get feared off and killed. Same with people that don’t put themselves behind some one they are ressing (or whatever) and then get pulled by an eng. These #2’s are bad to the point where others need to seriously misplay.

It probably won’t help a mes vs a thief though. If they want to soften hard counters, I’m all for it, but it should be done by adding in more counterplay against the dominant class while they are still up, instead of removing counterplay from multiple classes.

You still don’t need stability or blind… because they already did nothing to help you stomp a mes even before these changes in the first place…

Seems like someone doesn’t notice a single of 3 very distinct differences between clone and Mesmer.
I would suggest pressing skill 1 once before you press F to check if the target you want to finish is actually a Mesmer and not the clone.

That has nothing to do with this. I have no problem telling the clone from the mesmer. The mes is the 2nd one to appear and has an arrow above his head. It’s pretty obvious.

The issue is that mesmer’s downed state is already strong, and they are removing all counter play to their #2 (it will no longer require a target to activate) while other classes have too many counters. Please read other posts more carefully so you don’t get confused next time

The change was made because of the relationship between Thief and Mesmer.
Thief hard-counters Mesmer more than any other counter in the game (I would say the only other HARD counter is Necro vs condi Engi). A thief can drop a mes in a second, then stealth for stomp preventing the Mesmer from getting time for team support from res. It is a good change, and I would do more towards evening the missmatch without nerfing thief or buffing mes, such as a change to consume plasma or allowing power block to effect thief weapon skills.

I would be fine with them changing it as long as there was still some counter play involved. Changing a downed state that has one counter (stealth) into one that has none is lazy… expecially considering that that war/necro/eng downed states are reasonable have so many counters.
