Kta, that post helps no one.
My computer copes well enough in the region but I will admit it is noticeably more intensive than usual. I would hate to see players excluded because Arena Net are pushing the games graphics and low end systems too far.
The release was not perfect but Arena Net has definitely learned some lessons from season one.
Definitely an improvement, not amazing, but definitely good enough to keep me interested for more.
The only thing that really did bother me was them stuffing more Scarlet rubbish into the storyline. So many people hated everything about her, even though she is dead Arena Net’s writers feel compelled to stuff more of her nonsense into the story line.
It was free!!! ’Nuff said.
This is probably the best thing about the living story.
No thanks, I hope Anet ignores your post
Yea, judging by the replies the suggestion is quite unpopular.
It is an improvement, I just hope the achievement rewards are not superior to the story based reward.
Charge 200 gems for all episodes of LS2 — please make this a content driven business model. That would be the true B2P game we signed up for at launch…
This also has the effect of forcing quality into the content. If the content sucks, nobody will buy it. It’s a positive feedback loop in the development cycle.
It is foolish of you to think that would change the quality, charging would change nothing about the teams that work on the content.
It is also a bit silly to demand to pay for something given away freely. But if you really insist then you can log in after each release ends and pay for them instead.
Going by the standard of season one, then I have to say no it is unlikely to be equal to an expansion.
Season one had neither enough content or depth to qualify as expansion worthy. It is just decent filler content to tide players over till a real expansion.
When you add season one it better be free or their will be serious trouble.
I am not paying for content I logged on every day for.
Great, does this mean I can fire all the characters I do not like?
You are out of here Kas, Jory, Rox, Braham, Taimi!
You are upset about a panda mini? I guess that would be quite amusing but no doubt you are serious.
No, I am not worried about Guild Wars one items being common in Guild Wars two, they are completely separate games and people should start treating them as such.
I could’ve sworn the 2 writers responsible jokingly admitted to writing the framework for Living Story S1 by locking themselves in a room and coming up with everything in 1 day.
That explains a lot.
Well, I am optimistic for the story with season 2, I seriously doubt it could be worse.
SAB is coming… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4CyI802BvI
It uses the correct music but the llama model is in no way the SAB style. I have my fingers crossed that this is a hint and that a new SAB will materialize, but I am not optimistic.
As already pointed out the article refers to NCSoft specifically, not Arena Net.
No doubt another NCSoft mmo, but not an Arena Net/Guild Wars related one.
You get what you pay for.
I will log on every other day to get a daily and do some WvW for my achievements but I the patch in no way revitalizes my love for GW. After all it was just a few “quality of life” changes, nothing fun or important like a new story/events/regions.
Compared to before I will be logging on less, but not because of the patch just lack of new content that I find fun. I am just waiting for Living Story season two, fingers crossed the story/characters and overall writing is better.
I prefer characters to not be in skimpy clothes regardless of sex but that is personal preference. I do not mind if they add that option for other players in game.
What does irritate me slightly is that these sets often do not resemble each other, sets should look very similar and be equal in quality for both sexes.
Yea, it really should keep the name or give us a choice of which to select. It is not just about the model and textures but also the name of the item itself. I doubt it is a bug, but it really should be because this change really does not make any sense.
If I want to transmute my sword into a (e.g.) Rinblade, then it should look and have the name of one.
Most of the updates are okay but I have to agree with a lot of the others here. I am not a fan of how town clothes are being handled now. Potions, transmutation charges to wear my Santa hat, it is all much less user friendly and with new clunky UI to boot!
Not quite the “quality of life” change that was advertised. Do not get me wrong, most of the other changes are fine but how town clothes are now handled, from my point of view that was a major leap backwards.
Yea, this is obviously an unforeseen issue that gives the class an edge over others when finishing. I see this as an obvious yet overlooked bug, using shadowstep should break finishers as it is a channeling power.
There are many games that don’t tell you what they add in – Rift was a good example. It is no big deal one way or the other.
Thanks for that, but pointing out an obscure and irrelevant game I do not play which has `mystery´ patches that you obviously are perfectly okay with, will not change my personal opinion.
It also does not change that the whole concept is misguided and will in no way magically make things more enjoyable. I sometimes wonder what goes on at the Arena Net offices, do they even vet the ideas they have.
I am not a fan of mystery patches, personally I like to know exactly what has being changed or added.
I am sure it is nice for those that like to be surprised but more than likely most people will miss out on things entirely. I am willing to bet only those that make the effort to read up on Dulfy will see/know everything.
The entire idea behind making patches mysterious is misguided I think, I do not see it being able to accomplish what they are aiming for.
Super Adventure Box was a great addition to the game, unique and fun. The levels were the perfect length and it had a lovely Zelda feel about it all.
Back to School was a mess, the learning curve was too steep, the traps and various trollish mechanics only served to make the whole experience frustrating and unpleasant. Tribulation mode was fine as is, for those that liked it, but normal mode needs work to make it casual friendly and fun, the level length alone made the whole thing a chore.
They should bring it back but fix the issues with world two and include a reason to play it beyond SAB related rewards.
Love it how anything negative/awesome/shines light on game flaws becomes a “just give us three ideas” by a passing mod then gets forgotten and ignored.
I love how everyone assumes it’s ignored/forgotten
We got some telepaths who can work through the Internet over here, quick, someone find them and enlist them to start helping catch crooks.
Everything Arena Net does has to be written and planned long in advance, so yes, everything will be ignored for the next Living Story updates. Even then if in the future they have time to implement what people ask for it is still not likely. Everything mentioned in this topic has been said many times before and after well over a year Arena Net have not really changed course to accommodate what people ask for.
No, people are not psychic, they just notice trends and assume the outcome from past experiences. I for one am not optimistic.
You are playing the wrong game, Guild Wars is all about being the hero, always has been. If you want to be a villain then you are almost definitely going to have to look elsewhere.
I feel sad for you that you can’t find enjoyment in the little things, you must lead a very dreary life indeed.
You think I have a dreary life because a dumb bobblehead does not make me grin ear to ear? I think you need to get out more if a bobbehead makes your day.

“so much fun”
“amazing”
“hilarious”
Some people are very easily amused.
I guess the saying is true after all `simple minds, simple pleasures.´
Compared to last year with SAB, this years prank is quite pathetic perhaps even lazy.
Omg feeding off the haters is so much fun! ahaha
I think that speaks volumes about what kind of person you are, getting your jollies from other peoples unhappiness.
Gem store gets a unique backpack, minstrel finisher and glowing eye mask. I think I know where Arena Net’s priorities are.
Hmm… Big heads, I am sure it took them all of five minutes to do that. A handful of people say get a sense of humor, but honestly how is this addition even remotely amusing? It is only irritating, at least in GW1 it was only ever present in town instances.
Well, I guess Arena Net does not want to break their ten month long disappointment streak. We suffer months of Arena Net working on the dire Scarlet arc, content many people did not like or want. For April fools most asked for more SAB and yet again Arena Net refuse to deliver what people actually want, what goes through the mind of the person who plans all this stuff? It really feels like decisions are being made without proper peer review.
Come on, sort out your priorities Arena Net.
No April fools jokes?
I like April fools jokes, but this one is pathetic. and hardly worth celebrating or thanking Arena Net for.
Thanks but no thanks.

Totally agree.
I am glad you do.
Wow that is sooooooo much better than SAB!
That comment is probably the biggest joke today… it was a joke right?
Thanks but no thanks.

Lazy.
After SAB last year this April fools is pathetic. It is simply more of an annoyance than funny and the only thing it has accomplished is for me to log off for the day and play another game.
Disappointing Arena Net, but disappointment is something you seem to excel at lately!
Dragon Age 2 is story wise a better game than Dragon Age 1.
That is highly subjective, you may personally found it better, that does not make it fact. The story to Dragon Age 2 bored me to absolute tears, the characters were all unlikable and the choices meaningless. Origins on the other hand had an engrossing story, wonderful, likable and unique characters, the entire game was riveting.
Arena Net are in no way as bad as the current Bioware (DA2/ME3) but the living story is very far from the best writing Guild Wars has ever had. A lot needs to change as the Living Story is such a let down in so many way, especially the various characterizations and overall story.
I really hope Arena Net takes the op’s post to heart.
What insight do you have in regard to where the Living Story is headed?
The insight that everything Arena Net have said and shown point in that direction.
1 No more exclusive social media lore pieces, if it goes up outside the game it should also be put into the game. I am not a fan of the way it currently is and I would really like to see it changed, perhaps have a section on the hero panel for short stories and such.
2 More stand alone pieces, not everything has to be tied together by a flimsy thread creating a convoluted mess of a story, one of the best updates we had was Bazaar of the Four Winds and that was essentially a story on it’s own. Do not be afraid to leave something as a mystery, give us events that are part of different stories, make the whole world come alive, not just things that revolve around one character.
3 Less temporary more permanent content, the reasoning behind this is obvious and I know it is much requested already.
4 Less focus on NPC heroes and more focus on our own. We play Guild Wars to escape the boring normal world and be the savior of Tyria, make us feel like we are heroes. Have NPCs ask us for our opinions rather than tell us were to go and make our choices carry weight.
I really appreciate the effort you guys do with the Living Story, but it does need a lot of work. So long as you really do take the OP’s post to heart then you can not go wrong.
You will still need your repair canisters as your items can still get damaged, from what I understand the only difference is that repairing will now have no cost.
Thanks to Evon Gnashblade, a true Charr of the people!
The Lions Arch I loved was destroyed long ago, I never really liked the pirate themed mess that was parked on top of Lions Arch, to be honest I am glad to see it gone.
I might miss a couple of the ambient NPC’s and their idle chatter, though they will probably all come back when the place is rebuilt so I am not too sad about it. I am not heartless, I just had nothing that made me feel attached to the place or the people.
I do have a few places I would miss if they got destroyed, but I am not going to mention them in case Arena Net get some bad ideas.
That is just wishful thinking Mythoryk, as much as we all would love more Tengu content, the Living Story is unfortunately just not going in that direction. Where it is going is to the Magumma and that is worth speculating about.
I remember Dry Top very well, I may not like Sylvari but I would not be against another Sylvari settlement being discovered in that location along with a tree. Arena Net better not ruin the location though, I am a bit tired of them destroying places I knew and loved from GW1.
Well it’s only their first real adventure. Give them some time to grow. Braham and Rox were great during F&F if you ask me.
I am curious, how much time does it take to `grow´ a character? I am only asking because it has been well over a year now.
Kindof dangerous to have nothing for 10days

ESO? I do not rent games.
To actually suggest that ESO could even remotely put Guild Wars 2 in danger is laughable. I played the beta and it was truly dire, I feel sorry for anyone that has any kind of positive expectations towards it, they are going to be very let down. Yes some will leave but they will all be back within a month when the subscription runs out and they remember how much better GW2 is and all with zero subscription fee!
So far the reception to the new feature packs have not exactly been overly positive. The problem is that they have a good idea which people are on board for but the execution is not perfect which people complain about.
Personally I am not angry or upset, but neither am I excited and happy about any of the new features so far… wait did I say new? Perhaps that is the problem, nothing is really new. They have obviously worked very hard (I have to put this here or the two words left and right get censored) on changing so many things that were not really broken to begin with, it feels almost as though they are wasting time.
I am still waiting for a blog about these `brand-new systems´ they told us were coming, so far all it seems to be is tweaked/fixed old systems.

That is an exceptionally good post Shriketalon.
+1
OMG! you guys were right! I finally found them! They are right before that apple orchard with the spiders. Quaggan is finally happy=3
Glad you found them, I was quite specific in saying the one with spiders.
I guess I better go back if they do have dialogue.
The first book was good, second was okay, the third I found hard to read, it is slow paced had unlikable character and was quite frankly boring, it also had a fair amount of inconsistencies.
Basically I would recommend the first two books.
That is a character I think I would enjoy seeing Vexander, definitely a step up from Braham.
I’d rather they work on developing the characters they have instead of trying to add something more interesting on top.
I see no reason why they can not do both, develop current characters further and slowly introduce a handful of new.
The Living Story season two will require more characters just for the fact that it has a new story to tell in a different place against a different foe.
“A lesser known unimportant dragon”?
Unimportant in the context of the other dragons, they have all had a profound effect on the world, all except for Bubbles obviously.
There have been a lot of people complaining that the LS doesn’t actually change anything in the world. Apparently there are people who complain when it actually DOES change something.
I would not say it does not change anything, Marionette ruins, Kessex Hills desolation, Lions Arch destruction are examples that Arena Net have at least tried to make things permanent.
But at the same time things do not really change much and when it does it only ever gets destroyed. The Marionette only changed an unused part of land, the ruins have nothing for anyone to go to for. Lions Arch is essentially an empty unused zone now with nothing in it for players to do, I say it will be rebuilt within a year essentially making the event a simple inconvenience and definitely not permanent. Kessex Hills seems to be a much more permanent change, such a shame though as I found that region quite beautiful before, now I just do not want to spend any time in it due to the looks, the `Orr factor´.
