Things I loved about this patch, hard to find anything positive really I liked the Heal-o-Tron and Gnashblade interactions, quite fun to listen to. most other things are just mediocre and the zerg gameplay unappealing.

The best thing about this patch is that we only have one more update till the end of the rubbish Scarlet story, that can not come soon enough. Hopefully season two will have better characters and a better concept, the crazy twig and ridiculous alliances are laughably bad.

So after we graciously escort a fleeing Evon from LA (Kiel is in there fighting mind you) he has the gall to shut down an Asura gate leading out of LA, effectively dooming several civilians. Some hero.

Typical Kiel supporter spreading disinformation, check your facts next it, it had nothing to do with Evon.

Also, you never aided Evon’s escape, he made it to safety fighting tooth and claw on his own.

The Tengu reaction is understandable.

They are isolationists and as such do not have a good understanding of other races and the events around the world. One moment they are establishing trade in a major city nearby and suddenly everyone is being killed. Their reaction is what I would have expected. Not to forget internally they have a major problem with Primordius and his minions encroaching onto their territory.

Yes I would have liked to have seen a diehard group of elite Tengu braves holding the gate with ease, but for them to withdraw was logical even though slightly disappointing.

I do do not see them getting involved with world events any time soon. The lack of writing and love their race has had with the living story shows that Tengu and a new player race is very far from Arena Net’s mind.

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

People ignore the citizens in favour of event/champion trains in the belief of obtaining great loot.

I think most people do not realise that you get a tiered reward depending on the quantity you save. Maximum is supposed to give you a chance of obtaining previous living story rewards. Seems foolish to me that people ignore the citizens so much, most I have ever seen was six hundred, thirty of which was rescued by me personally.

Quite a brazen move by Arena Net to destroy the central player hub move most NPC’s to a new location but reserve several for a service you must pay for. To be honest I see it is an incredibly cheeky move though it could be a massive oversight.

Though considering we just got a patch and Arena Net have not added them to the player hub, one can assume their opinion is a big fat F you. A handful of people may be okay with this, but their selfish desires does not fix this issue for many others.

If you want to do any of the events you will be in a zerg, regardless if you want to be or not. The only way to avoid a zerg is picking off small enemies off the beaten track but you will find it substantially less rewarding.

The map is 100% built around zerg gameplay, quite the step backwards from the Marionette. Kind of a disappointment in my books I was expecting the occasional large scale fight, but constant zergs are not much fun.

Personally I am okay with this, it means I can give Guild Wars 2 a break for two weeks and play other games until the next update. Though no doubt Arena Net would see that as a fail as the whole point is to keep players in game playing content.

If Mordremoth awakens after the scarlet arc and travels to the Maguma Jungle, much in the same way of Kralkatorrik it would cause extensive damage to the Dominion of Winds. Playable Tengu is quite a distinct possibility if you think about it.

But the fact that no Tengu character in game have changed dialogue or have we had any inclusion of them in the Living Story does put a dampener on the idea.

We had a character slot promotion recently and I never got any. I would definitely buy a couple of new slots if I could make an Avicara brave.

You mean running with his innocent tail between it’s legs to save -that- from burning? Though in his defence: He does let other people run ahead….but is that intentional or because he is just slow?

Pay to win is subjective, some may try to define it, but due to the subjective nature it will always be slightly different to each person. Nit picking over the terminology is fruitless and yes regardless of the term the pick does have some glaring issues.

It you few people continue to nit pick and argue over each others words and definitions then this topic will be locked. This is a hot topic but treat each other with respect and please try to stay on point, picking and poking over each others words is not constructive or helpful.

Yes you can say it is pay to win, yes you can say it is not.

But lets get down to it, does either of those view points resolve the fact that the best pick in the game can only be purchased in a store? (Gems or gold it should have a basic equivalent should be in the basic game.)

Is the introduction of a better pick after the previous being advertised as “The last pick you will ever need” fair for players that parted with actual money? Personally I do not think so, it is false advertising and in no way morally right.

So how many months till we get a better pick with 20% ecto drop? Fact is this could be a worrying trend and frankly needs some clarification. Arena Net has stated they do not want to have vertical progression and this quite plainly is a cash shop exclusive form of vertical progression with harvesting tools, where will it stop?

Try to be respectful to each other, you may or may not agree but state your reasons, be constructive. Do not just pick at each others posts over silly definitions telling each other they are wrong, people are allowed personal opinions.

This. I’m not going to let this thread die until a dev has answered some questions.

Questions like:

  • Will there be any future gathering tools with bonuses or advantages on them and if so, is there a max to those?
  • Don’t you agree that releasing a better pick just a few weeks after selling the molten pick is a decision that would give many people buyer’s remorse?
  • Don’t you think that a convenience item that sells for 1/4th of the price of the full game should remain best-in-slot forever?

I agree completely, we deserve some answers here.

I bought one of these for each of my characters.

The highly profitable sprocket market has a new kingpin! In 3,000 years you will all tremble in awe at my sprocket castle made of solid gold! And then I can declare myself the winner of GW2!

All because you fools chose to bicker on the forums and left me to very very slowly gather items, worth a whole 30c, one at a time. HAHAHAHA!

“Watchwork Pick: Non-inflammatory please”

Do you honestly think your post is not provocative? Or are you and several others actively trying to get another Watchwork Pick topic locked?

The pick is a legitimate concern, how would any of your feel if we had a 2000 gem pick that had a 20% chance to drop an ecto? The pick sets a prescience and the potential of what can be made in the future is something to be worried about.

The best thing Arena Net can do is remove the bonus and offer an apology and refund to those that choose it. Not that they have to give a refund, the pick was not advertised to have a bonus anyway.

Player Character Dialogue Improvement

I agree, the dialogue has improved for our characters, it feels as though we are contributing and have opinions. Unfortunately we have not had much interaction with the various characters this time nor was it as entertaining as the story area in the previous update.

Living Story has been very hit and miss, when they do one thing well something else seems to suffer. The Origin of Madness really did have the worst player character dialogue possible.

You would be naive to think that a subscription would stop the existence of a gem store, almost every subscription based game or games with a subscription option have stores.

Guild Wars is sold on the premise of not requiring a subscription fee, to introduce one would do a lot of harm to their fanbase and exceptional damage to Arena Net’s reputation.

We are all passionate fans, leaving due to one extremely controversial store item does in no way remedy the situation. Games company’s do listen to constructive player feedback, for example the flamekissed armour not long ago. And for one reason or another it’s changed, and they aren’t going back.

Now what? Time to stop complaining and walk away. We got to this point because players stopped playing. THAT’S what effected the changes, not constant whining on the official forums.

Walk away. If enough people follow you, THEN you might see the changes you’re looking for.

Trying to incite people into doing something drastic like leaving is not helpful or constructive.

I love Guild Wars and have no intention of leaving, but I am very unhappy about this pick and what it means. I purchased a molten pick and am currently unsure where I stand with the gem store. Do I buy something now and have to buy the same thing with a small improvement again in a month?

I do not throw away money needlessly and as it stands I can not trust the gem store. The only thing this fiasco has done has lost my custom, till they fix it I shall continue to play but not offer monetary support through the store.

EOTM the aspect of killing another

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: Aedelric.1287

Aedelric.1287

I stated this during the Ready Up livestream earlier today, but I’ll repeat it again here.

While we are releasing new story related content with the Edge of the Mists update, very little of that content actually occurs inside of the EotM map. Hopefully that alleviates some of your concerns!

Firstly, very few people actually watch the livestreams, so it is not a great way to convey information.

Secondly I too am not entirely happy that living world content has crept into WvW, Scarlet has no place in the Mists and PvE content should be kept in PvE. I do not like Arena Net’s trend of forcing her badly written character into every little piece of content.

Personally I am looking forward to the map, but most definitely not the Living Story content tied to it, the sooner the Scarlet arc is over the better.

-snip-

`The last pick you will ever need´ apparently it is not as they have released a better pick making the old one obsolete

-snip-

See, here’s the issue.

The old pick is not obsolete. Not in the least. It still does everything it said it does. It also is still true that it is the last pick you would ever need.

You do not need the new pick. You want it because it gives some extra incentive, but that extra incentive is not a necessity. There is a difference.

Newer models have to give you some desire to upgrade, otherwise no one ever would. Why would you buy a PS4 if your PS3 could do everything a PS4 could do? Why would you upgrade your cell phone if the newer model did not offer something better? Short of the item ceasing to function, there would be no incentive to upgrade.

The new pick entices up to upgrade, but we do not have to unless we want to. The old pick still functions. Still does exactly what it claimed, and is the ‘last pick I’ll ever need’ because I don’t have to buy any others.

Again with the metaphors, the old pick is inferior and as such obsolete. Not sure your definition of obsolete is the same as the rest of us.

You mention incentives, the pick does not require an extra incentive, an infinite pick is incentive enough, I know as I purchased one. The store was sold to us as a cosmetic only place and yet here we are with vertical progression on store items. I will buy one to support Arena Net as it has a nice effect, so long as they remove the sprocket bonus and make it equal to all the other store harvesting items, till then I will feel angry and cheated essentially wanting my gems back.

As for picking and cutting my post, care to respond to all issues I mentioned not just one small part? We all have an agenda here and want our opinions taken seriously, but it is hard to do when you flat out ignore other peoples legitimate complaints Lanfear.

Really the comparison you two chose is not helping your argument in the slightest. If you can not justify things without a metaphor, then perhaps their is no justification to your point of view at all.

Do either of you even own a molten pick? Arena Net have added vertical progression to harvesting tools, vertical progression is quite disliked by the player base and Arena Net themselves have said they do not wish to add constant gear grind. The Molten pick was advertised as `The last pick you will ever need´ apparently it is not as they have released a better pick making the old one obsolete. It is natural to be angry that you were mislead and feel cheated, to act as though people are being self-entitled is just plain insulting.

That is not how the world works, if no one objected then Arena Net would assume everyone wants a cape, which is not really the case.

Plus calling everyone a child for not sharing your opinion is… I would not say childish, lets go with unproductive and perhaps outright provocative.

Capes add little to the game and always clip character models extremely badly. Unless someone can give me an example of an MMORPG where it is included and looks natural with no clipping, then I have to remain against such a feature.

he damage to customer relations caused by nerfing a cash shop item to take away a specific selling point poses a lot more danger than whatever “precedent” people think it sets.

Actually it is not advertised as giving you sprockets so it is not a selling point, read the item description I am positive it does not say anything.

Simple fix is if they apologise, remove item and return the gems to the few players who purchased it. I doubt any feeling of trust would be lost, if anything it would be gained for doing the right thing.

Simply put, I feel cheated and I am currently unsure about any future purchases when something better would be along in a month. This fiasco has not exactly built up any consumer trust.

We want capes

I assume you mean the `royal we´.

I have no desire for a cape, they looked goofy in Guild Wars one and the clipping really irritated me.

The pick is more trouble than it is worth, be that you hate it or are ambivalent towards it. It is doubtful the money gained is worth the hit to Arena Nets credibility and customer relations.

The best thing they can do now is give remove the item from the game, apologise and give a gem refund.

Personally I have issues with such items being in the gem store, they are not in the spirit of Arena Net’s “cosmetic only” stance. It renders previous harvesting tools inferior and removes players trust in regard to not knowing if what you are buying will not just be outdated in one or two months. Also the bonus stat is not obtainable through regular (not purchasing) means of gameplay, something Arena Net said they never intend to do.

So in two months we get a 1200 gem pick with % chance of quartz crystal and sprockets? I am not an idiot, I can tell when I am getting ripped off. Either give all store harvesting tools a bonus (plus durability tools obtainable through gameplay) or remove the item entirely.

I will make you a deal Arena Net, lower the price to 800, remove the bonus while promising to never do this again and will buy one for an alt of mine.

No I do not like the pick, it goes against Arena Net’s cosmetic only stance.

This poll is going to be very much on the negative side, very few people are stupid enough to support such practices.

Where is my gem refund Arena Net?

I bought the pick with the understanding that it was the best and any others would purely be cosmetic. If you are going to be releasing a better pick every few months I would rather just have my gems back.
