I don’t want to be pessimistic but I really don’t expect much in terms of class balancing and parity,in regards to PvP,anymore.
This is an MMO,classes are fun to play but it’s all about which builds will become the new op ones and which are going to become irrelevant,and the months long wait until the next shuffle of the cards.
As a wise cat once said “Meow owow”,that in plain English translates as “It is what it is”.

All the map needed was for the treb to become vulnerable to condition damage,and the camera collision with the roof at mid fixed.
Instead we got a kitten new mid point that gives all the advantage to ranged classes,and requires even less zero control of a player’s positioning in order to snipe.
Classic.

Mesmer is more OP than thief

A class that has one of the highest hitting condi spikes and can spam both confusion and torment and has access to retaliation,is bound to be over performing.
No class or build should have access to both of these conditions to the extent that Mesmer does,and such a high hitting class/build that can also avoid damage through blocks,evades ,and invulnerability,certainly does not need retaliation to top all the op ness off.
Same goes for Warrior,and to be fair,all across the classes of the game it is apparent that class balance is not only non existent but intentionally absent.
It’s just a selection of over performing builds that were designed to be that way.
This is the epitome of class design that is bound to produce imbalances and power creep.
And a low PvP population,because after the gold rush for loot wears off,all you are left with is a pile of poo poo so badly designed that you now need a fundamental class and trait redesign in order to make it right.
GW2 PvP will never be balanced the way traits and trait lines are set up.
Traits that are absolutely normal for some builds,like retaliation on base Warrior or Mesmer,become contributors to a class’s op ness when combined with a elite spec.

The Problem with BRONZE MMR

The skill level in bronze is appalling.
I lose match after match against players that I dominate in 1v1 and 1v2 because some players in my team luck basic understanding of their class and combat in general.
80% of the time within 30 seconds from the start of an engagement at mid there will be at least 2 already downed from traps and aoe fields,they can’t dodge,they can’t use the topography and structures of the map to their advantage,they don’t know how to avoid a enemy dps spike.
I want to play a Necro I’m having a ton fun with it and I switched to my Ele because I have to babykitten my team.
I’m already bored.

This episode is typical Anet.
A great release being nullified by some strategically inserted and very carefully supplied doses of kitten.
Besides the elixir inovation where you have to travel to the other side of the map to get a buff each time you play,because if this was in the form of potions that you made and kept in your inventory the game would explode obviously.
There’s the last boss fight.
Defeating the boss relies on a mechanic that is not even hinted to the player before,
and players are expected to replay this instance like a dungeon to discover the mechanics.(?)
And then there’s the clunky boss AI,the charge attack that never happens,the friendly NPCs holding aggro,all shorts of pathing issues,and what a cluster kitten if I may say.
If anyone out there is listening,please keep this short of boss mechanics discovery in fractals and raids,and at least spend some more time polishing such fights.

Most players don’t even try to avoid these,they just stand there and die.
Including DHs dying from other DHs’s traps.
It can be annoying since you might have to move around or on and off a point in order to avoid them,but dying from traps is 100% your fault and your choice since it is so easy to simply trigger and dodge out of them or to not trigger them at all.

I’m curious as to which are the other games that even offer auto loot at all.
The vast majority of MMOs don’t even have area loot on interact,and GW2 provides this as base functionality.
BD has a similar auto loot without any player interaction,but there it is monetised.
You can buy pets to gather loot for you and in order to get results similar to GW2’s auto loot you’d need 3 pets.To increase the auto loot radius you need a higher tier pet that you get by breeding two lower tier pets.These get deleted in the process and whether the new pet will be of a higher tier or not is decided by RNG.
With only one tier1 pet you still have to gather most of the loot yourself.
Each pet costs around 10€.
Rather costly and not basic at all.

From what I see it does very little,just adds pointers for known locations of nodes and other interactable objects.

I can kill anything on my Necro.
It carried me to Legendary last season,and whenever I play it,it simply destroys any other class 1v1 and is still one of the better force multiplier classes in game.
Maybe if people didn’t just copy builds from meta battle and put some effort in finding their own builds we wouldn’t have posts like this one.
If you play a Necro you know you will be focused at the start,adjust your build and play style accordingly.

Eles are still strong

Eles can be condi burst down to 0 in 5 sec from any half good Engi or War or Mes or any other heavy condi build.
A bit ironic since they do have a ton of condi cleanse and still it’s not enough to keep them alive.
If you are aware of another class that is as or more weak at the current balance condi kitten state,please share it with us.
Just because you won against 3 DHs that obviously didn’t know their sh"t,don’t mean anything.

“Buried Insight”

Taimi’s stalled and won’t move.The progression of the story is blocked,and I have to replay the instance from the beginning.

This is a known issue,it’s even in the wiki where this description is copied from.

["Sometimes Taimi may stall after the line “I think so. We’re almost right on top of the source!” and will not move forward. The only way this can be avoided is to defeat the golem that spawns and walks down the path before Taimi reaches the area."]

If Supreme.3164 isn’t complaining as usual then it must be a very good patch…for elementalist players.

It’s pretty sick. The things they updated open up quite a few new possibilities, I’m looking forward to it even though I don’t play ele. They’ve gotten boring to fight this past meta.

I can’t think of a class that is less useful and potent than elementalist right now.
The possibilities you have with this class are still the same.
a.If your team is half descent maybe they can carry you.
b.If you want to carry you’ll play another class
c.Thief fodder
d.Mesmer fodder
e.Delete your ele.

Why DH Changes were Bad

These changes ,change the class a lot.
Before you had to spam traps and blocks and heal,now you heal .25 seconds later.
It’s unplayable.
I’m deleting my DH right now.
No use for it in PvP.
Only in starter PvE zones.
All is vain.

They’ve done nothing to address the main issues of imbalance.
Conditions are still out of control,CC is still spamable,there are still high hitting attacks with defensive components,evade spamming,block spamming,it’s all there.
Still a spamfest of abilities with little to no tactical thinking needed.
Still 90% the class and build and 10% the player.
Those changes were epidermic,they make little to no difference.
All classes play 99% the same as they did before the patch.

Maybe that was just anet giving up on trying since no matter what they do,unless they redesign all classes form the ground up for PvP,balance will always be sub par in GW2.

At least my ele got dagger buffs.I really was looking forward to this.
Who needs survivability anyway.

Strawman or not … that’s tough news. Anyone that doesn’t actually anticipate that old maps and content become old news in an MMO is fooling themselves … and to complain about it? I mean, why don’t I join an MMO after 4 years and QQ i’m behind everyone … oh that’s right … because that would be nonsense. OFC you’re behind and having a hard time completing things. That’s no surprise to anyone who has played MMO’s.

Let’s review this again … WHAT are you paying for in an MMO … access to a service. There is no guarantee you ‘win’ or can ‘catch up’. OP is over a year behind on an expansion … does any reasonable player here actually think there is something weird about his situation? I don’t. That doesn’t make HoT terribly designed at all. IMO, that’s what makes GW2 an MMO. I guess people forgot what that means, for better or worse.

My recommendation, better make some friend that want to help you … or you to help them.

The problem is not that the maps are getting old and less played,it’s that they shove grouping down your throat everywhere,and they don’t downscale enough to compensate for lower population.
It’s failed design from top to bottom.

I hope you realize how self-defeating this stupid change is for druids.

You’re effectively going to pigeonhole them into healing power by decreasing baseline healing without giving the druid specialization any additions to make it viable in an offensive stat build as a DPS role.

What are these developers doing? They haven’t fixed what makes core ranger and druid dreadfully weak DPS builds, so they have to play a dps/healer hybrid, and with this change now rangers will be forced into healing power gear so they can’t even contribute much DPS at all.

You’re also going to effectively delete druids from open world as they can no longer solo or be self sufficient due to not being able to run dps gear without gutting their celestial avatar survivability/utility.

It won’t be nearly as bad as you describe it,but a healer with healer gear.
God forbid,this is unheard of.

I Love LA!

The new one is more like a proper city and cleaner,but yes,the old LA had more character and a cosier,warmer,and smellier atmosphere.And ships.
I really miss the Crow’s Nest bar,now there isn’t even a passage to the hidden area,you just get ported there from the middle of the city.

The two last screenshots are from the minutes right before the attack on LA patch went live.
My Mesmer just sat there and enjoyed the calm before the storm.

I blame it all on the crazy salad lady that went on and destroyed it.
I became a honorary vegetarian because of this.

Voting no to solo or duo que implies you play wuth premades and enjoy stomping solo quers with superior organization rather than mechanical skill and adaptability.

No it doesn’t. I voted no because I find it unfair that I can’t group up with two or more friends and play Ranked together. It shouldn’t have to be play with friends or play for pips. It’s just a game mode and the implementation of how the progress works is what made the game mode not fun, not groups of people wanting to play together. Having a group doesn’t make the game any easier. I’ve been in plenty of matches where 5 solo queuers have utterly demolished a group of 4 plus one solo-queuer. I’ve also been in parties of four where we’ve been absolutely crushed by 5 solo-queuers.

You can team up with your friends and play hotjoin and unranked all you want.
Queues there are even shorter than in ranked.
The only reason to join a ranked match is to compete in the leagues.
Ranked matches are competitive,and providing a playing field as fair and balanced as possible is very important.
Even allowing for duo queuers can still result in unbalanced match ups,but it’s an improvement over the current situation.

Server Linking Discussion

Merge the servers and be done with it.
I’ll never feel connected in anyway to players from other servers.

Atm the server I play on is dead,the server we are linked with is even even more dead,
and as a result the only way to do some WvW is to roam on my Thief.
Any short of group play with such imbalances on the population is impossible,and server linking does jack kitten about it.

As long as the focus is to monetise WvW via server transfers,which requires population imbalances between the servers in order to instigate the transfers,WvW will be declining more and more,until even the bandwagon servers of the month will become empty too.

Other measures have to be taken in order to make the weekly campaign something more than grinding points,and winning a match up should not be as pointless as it currently is,but balancing the population between the servers should be a top priority.

“Assault on Atrox” meta requirement is bugged.

a.The harpy event is not spawning,so there’s no way to unite all three tribes.

b.in case Atrox Castrum is held by friendly forces,helping with the defence event doesn’t count towards completion.

More than a year since the release of the collections,bugs blocking progression should have been dealt with by now.

Just delete the old collections.
After the 2nd legendary in becomes obvious that they mostly recycle the same locations and events over and over anyway,there’s nothing fun about them.

Convert all legendary collections to the new system,where you play whatever events you want in the designated zones,gather mats and currencies,and go about your crafting without having to interact with badly designed events ,and spawn timers,and years old bugs.

Since the last patch,there’s a high chance of the game cashing to the character select screen,when trying to load in or out of a personal story instance.
I get the error code shown in the screenshot,and I can’t select any character other than the one I was on when the crash occurred.

Wielding an ice based weapon in one hand and a fire one in the other.

So what footprints do you get? I assume water since the ice would melt, kappa. P.S that should totally be a thing.

It’s steam foot prints.
Obviously.
That way you get to sanitize and clean the ground wherever you pass.
If it was water,you’d need minions with mops to follow you in order to clean the mess you’d leave behind.
You’d need way too many bananas for that.

Anet needs to just change the MMR system back to S2\S3, look at how high the legend players are on the leaderboard #1 is 5×. S2 and S3 people were at 10x+. the old MMR system was thriving with much more life.

In season 2/3 the MM allowed for shorter queue times in legendary. Making the conclusion that S4 is less active because of how high people progress through legend division isn’t a good one. Queue times get exponentially longer as you go up in legendary divisions. If I’m not on at a certain time of day my ranked queues are 1hour+ at Legendary x3.

That is more of a population issue.
But unbalanced MM will result in even less interest from players.
I’ve also noticed that the MM does a much better job in matching teams at peak pop hours when compared to off hours.
And I keep seeing the same people in my matches,again and again.
Which can only mean there’s not that many of us playing the Leagues,to begin with.

And there are other reasons like some players even if they push to Legend won’t be able to craft the bp anyway,so why try,and this season there’s no less MMR carrying,so it might be harder for some players to push through.

League UI window is bugged

Sometimes the pips take a few times of opening and closing the window in order to update.
And in my case,right now the Win/Loss tracker in the Leagues UI says I’m on a 3 loss streak when I’m on a 4 win streak.
The pips are ok,and awarded accordingly,just for some reason the match tracker did not update the last few matches.

Definitely way too punishing for melee builds,and offensive trait lines.

I was delighted to see they removed boon thieves,since I run a DH in T4,and it always seemed that instability was unfair to Guardians.
But now I can’t even use melee weapons.
If you try to unload a GS burst,even under the cover of SoC,you will most likely get downed.
Do we all have to run support builds and range DPS?

And what change did that bring in terms of most desired classes?
0.Absolutely 0.
Teams have even less reasons to select a DH over a Necro since now we can’t even provide with adequate burst,and we have to resort to ranged pew pew weapons for most of our dps.

The way you describe the MM one would think that it is not set to produce results as close to 50/50 as possible when matching players based on their MMR.
Leaving premades aside,since the mixed queues and leagues can still lead to one sided cake walks.

I don’t get it.
You say you are good players,and then you ask to be carried to Division 6 by the match maker.
I you are as good as you say you are,prove it by winning balanced matches and going against equally skilled teams,not by riding the win streak that the MM gave to your MMR,that only results in your MMR getting better,your opponent’s worse,and even more unbalanced team matching.
Winning fixed matches in PvP is not skilful at all.
It’s easier than running a T4 PvE fractal.
And in the end,if you are so serious about your team mates and your team composition,roll a premade.

This is what seasons 2 and 3 did to the game.
A lot of players got carried to D6,and now that they face the same odds as everyone else yolo queueing,complain about the MM.
And to point out the elephant in the room.
What ever happened to the good old “git good” and “you gotta carry”,that was such a popular answer to any MM related concerns in the previous seasons?
Guess carrying ain’t so much fun when you get to carry the same as the other team.

Legendary Armor basically useless

The legendary armor is useless and they reprezented it way to late.
Im at this point that I already have 12 different armor sets for my main. If I realy want to swap stats I Just swap it in the mistical forge. Game dies in 12 months anyway.

I still run the lower level zones,because I like doing the world completion stuff ,and find players all over even very late at night or early in the morning.
Maybe you joined a map with a world boss event going on at that time and everyone was on the taxi populated instance.

A lot can be said,but if I had to put it all in a phrase,it’s because unlike most modern MMOs,it’s a quality game and not an assortment of bars to fill while you grind your self to death looking at beautiful but superficial graphics.
