Simplest fix: increase the range on trebuchets so that trebuchets at towers can hit keeps and become a threat again.

I wish I gave this feedback earlier during the beta but I was more focused on the up-close sieges rather than the map-as-a-whole.

Not only the range of trbs should be superior but also the resistance.

The map is excellent problem was mechanics stayed behind or went to shrine/mega laser gimmicks(Anet can do much better at shrines boons, they failed a bit there).
There are plenty of stuff that needs to be in pair with the new bl map, another thing is we dont know if they will had random cheese stuff or eventually “make the bl a better place”.

@misterdevious.648, well, people don’t get , they hardly split, reason blob is the most common way to win,makes rewards faster, since blob can take towers in 1 minute (not talking about actual BL)or a bit more and then blob up several parties that are taking more time to to capture other “objectives” due map being simple and very straightforward(less tactical, more easy to win due number difference).

They thought they could create one map that would please everyone with every different kind of play style

That’s very possible. It’s like a parent asking their kids what they want for dinner, 1 kid says fish sticks, 1 says pizza, 1 says ice cream, instead of picking 1 the parent tries to please them all and tosses all the food into a blender with a bunch of vegetables (pve) that they didn’t ask for but the parent wants them to have. What you end up with is an inedible mess that no one enjoys.

They(Anet) might overreacted wrongly with some stuff on the new BL’s but that migh be fixed/changed, that doesn’t means BL is that bad as many make it look, isn’t just a hide zerg in tower while getting beated on, and then push the other zerg to the clastle and get pushed back again into tower.
IF players really wanted fight they have more open spaces, more clever choke points more places to drop enemies form cliffs, with some changes the new bl could be really really good, it is bad because people cant karma train it or hide back to tower if getting beaten.

The purpose of the new BL was about (lets forget the central weapon and some other stuff like auto upgrade for a moment since i dont like them either) give more importance to fights more creative tactics, less cheap place to cap stuff were players could not do anything when being blobbed, more open field , they have lower paths that can help reach the north parts more sneaky but they have map elements (similiar to gvg fire isle with the fire lord in the lava pool), and this is the adversaries players don’t like well.. because means more effort.
They wanted to make BL’s more valuable and less farmable than they were, even EB is a sad place full of gimmicks to cap towers w/o much effort., the BL should be the opposite better for defense and bit harder to the opposing party.

just a fast note
We even had on GW1 gvg map quicksands…it is nothing new from gw2, as map elements have nothing to do with being pve or pvp only, that is an excuse…

we have nothing atm, but players could have a place in main towns where they would only observe/access to a guild board of the guilds of their own server that are recruiting.

Something like a wall with post and notification were guilds could apply their recruitment.
(it would be cool to have this in map only, and not as a click button just for a bit of immersion).

well i dont make damage on bow to, but because i choose not to do it, and prefered the shield and block optimization in turn of bow damage.

DH is really far better than i tough and also helps the bunker spec.

Meybe OP is expecting high damage with bunker specs.

People cant farm Bl’s now, ofc players are mad, instead of give the right information to how make the new bl’s more playable they just bash the new map because the new BL’s means no farm empty map in a few minutes.
Still some pointed out some interesting stuff that needs to be removed on the new bl’s system.

One thing that i believe, is how much our experience is divergent, there are 2 aspects that we are in agreement:

- Central weapon event is not good, should be disabled while theres no solution.
- Automatic upgrades need also to go, that gives less care to BL, since stuff is harder to take does not make sense to fully atomize it, i am from a smaller server yet i believe this was to much.

.. and sorry the bad english.

btw holding towers could give access to the guild to explore some places for mining resources as example for X time, i think this would even make the smaller guilds into wvw.

With merged servers/alliances any sense of server community/identity etc would go into the toilet. Not to mention that apart for some bottom rank servers merging servers is simply impossible due to too big populations.

And btw i can’t believe that after all the hell left behind by the WvW mechanics changes you consider this useless thing as the “first step to fix WvW”. Dem priorities.

Have to agree with this. The only thing that mergers would do is destroy a lot of communities, create longer prime time queues on EB and drive a lot of other players away.

What you are looking for already exists in the form of eotm and the majority of the WvW community agrees that eotm was a complete failure.

Well they could make bigger prime time for empty servers :\, to that would be half of a solution, but at long term would be the same.
For merging work they had to unify EU with usa wich i think it is impossible, since each one has its own prime time.

My gibberish as a reason.
Outside reset night, was mostly a empty map yes, with few defenders trying to upgrade towers and castles, and this was/is one of the t4 NA servers before the new bl.
The fights outside reset nigh were people that had to drop EB and rush to deffend some t3 castle or keep, was rare due not having that many players playing, even that would end being blobbed up by the enemy against a empty BL soon or later, this is what my gibberish tells, many of the players want job done easily as the older bl’s, instead of adapting to the new ones.

There are several issues on this map, that is out of question like the automatic updates, the big central event that can be done with a smaller force withing a few minutes.

No the maps is fine but have some issues, what we really need is a decent balance patch, remove auto updates , the central event, and need more population.

The true problem on WvW is the ppt system valued by tower capture, outside this we dont have nothing to fight for, so adding more elements to wvw w/o making wvw with more stuff to fight for, will make it even more limited.

In what capacity? What build r u using? Was thinking of trying a scepter shielld trapps build for dh but original guardian still seems better…

I am not using bow nor traps on my DH, bow ic is as a secondary weapon when needed.
Im using DH trait to boost blocks and shield KB, and it is the combination of both that i find good for my gameplay.

I agree! Anet needs to start listening to the WvW community about what they want. Not do the opposite and waste 3 years on a map that almost everyone hates.

On my server we have only ques to EB, and anet even made that map worse to!

What did they do to make that map worse? You referring to the auto-updates?

I think it is because people cant farm easily the bl’s like before, take keep or tower in a minute was hard already for some, because here fast and easy is called effort…

The bl’s were nothing more than a karma train map with the old map.

IF there is a problem ill say it is the wvw ppt model by towers… way to basic, if Anet wants to mantain this they should add more stuff to wvw, but many just want to gather bigger blob and spam 1 to win (as they call this good fight).

Atm is not a WvW map problem is a player base problem, and im also from a small server.

Advice Team work and less ego solo build.

I think it’s a number of factors:

1. They love cheese; like stealth, Golems, falling to your death, ambient creatures, etc.
2. They don’t really know what to do with WvW.
3. Therefore in their minds, the more cheese the better.

Add to this all other dull, stupid and not WvW crap like spikes getting from the floor, teleporting lords, lava pounds, auto turrets, bouncing air, no falling damage shrines, etc… I hoped so much WvW is about large scale player vs. player fighs, like PvP, just with greater numbers… Apparently I was so wrong…

so a plain square is all u guys wanted? the new maps are have alot in common with GW1 gvg maps with those mechanics, except stealth fountian offcourse.

so they should have made some GvG maps and added that game mode. Honestly I preferred the original alpine map with Quagan Island. I hated the bloodlust claiming and I hate all the cheese they add that only helps a larger server snowball. I swear the people making these choices are just trolls because these ideas are just for trolling.

The old BL’s were completely karma train maps(imo that is the wvw fights most talk for sure…and they want that back), they also had alot of flaws.

Everything started to help the larger servers after the big patch, even if they are unorganized they have plenty of more chances to win plus stealth from SM…

About GvG for sure Anet as something prepared to add to the GH, maybe 2 teams of 5 since game “tries” to be balanced to a full team.

It just makes me laugh all this QQ. When DD Cele Ele was broken with its bugged ring of fire people were still able to fight them. You learned not to roll around walking in and out of the ring. You learned when to burst them and when not.

DH is nowhere near as OP and DD Cele Ele was and yet people cry because they never heard of dodge or LOS or baiting a DH to move away from his traps.

And PU mesmers also were perfectly balanced out invisibility with a 30k+ burst.
Besides people just want to smash buttons to win, they play squishy in expectations to spam to win withjust a few skils, people dont want to learn in a game they want instant reward, HoT has several minor balance issues that is for sure but can be easily fixed.
Now those players that were used to play easy builds are finding competition they refuse to change to other gear, and by what ive been seen people after know that the DH is using traps people insist in go rush mindless melee spam in most cases.

Players loosing to DH are players that fight in expectation to be rewarded by buttons and damage.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about.
Also, that video is from BWE 2. If you look at the current tool tip, or better yet use the skill if you have a dh, you will see it is instant cast.

With this for use u are trolling becouse dont want to think when fighthing, but ill explain again:

The animation is still the same but happens a bit faster, rason i posted a older video to clarify that those skills really have an animationl.

here is a recent DH play open your eyes if ur not trolling, if u cant see well…nothing to doo them, the only thing that sometimes makes them unoticeable is due how flashy this game can be that blinds the gamers.

no because youre giving up a 30s slotskill for it. the same slot you would equip JI, shadow refuge, portal, etc. and when most of guard sustain comes from our slot skills… yeah I think its decently fair we have a skill that actually requires skill to use unlike 95% of Dh skills.

Know if guard has traps, trick guard to play trap and keep range, play with LoS in that case, if u play a melee character is a matter of learn the animation and interrupt, or KB guard, or even jumpdodge at the momment of the skill, daze is by trigging the trap u can get out of it while on animation and interrupt guard, is abit of a work but possible if trainned.

look @ Drennon.7190 example pic, if u cant avoid it, that pic explain alot, if the 1sec daze is to much get it removed asap and jumpdodge out of it, this skills are a huge burden for the guardian if they fail to work.

The new map is amazing I find, last night I had a blast, the fights were much more varied than on the old map.

However it would require 3 things to be perfect:
1- full maps, a better server tier system (merge) or removal of the duplicated maps
2- waypoints in towers and keeps as soon as you capture them
3- people giving it a chance

About your number 2, IMO that would be just for the guild who claimed it and later upgrade for every one if they want, the auto upgrades and the central weapon (easy event btw) should go…..

Well but at the end i think players are so cheap they just want a place to play their gimmick build on WvW becouse does not work on spvp.

So here goes more stuff that people would hate becouse that would give them something to add effort:

Add more importance to towers and we need more mechanics added to control terrain, since this map is really huge, if we had more stuff to destroy, cap, and create would generate more fights and more action to that mode:
- Add mines/plantation spawns where guilds can extract raw materials for 1h/2h directly to Guild stash, imagine 1 of X material / plantation for every 10/15 minutes, this camps/mines could also be taken over by the enemy for the restant time.

-Open field Guild encampment, that would turn the control of X part of the map to color of server A sayign there is a guild group, and we are here to stay, adding a waypoint that could be used only from those guild members with a certain CD in respawn time to use that waypoint, this accampent would provide siege supply and minor boost while in X range of towers, a boost like at least would provide more defense to siege weapons and X% faster recharge, also increase range to trebs.

Just a few ideias that would make players hate more WvW.

At the cost of total loss of strategical gameplay due to towers and keeps being completely disconnected from each other.

If you’re talking about trebing from one objective to another, actually I really hated that in the old borderlands.

The new borderlands map is really cool since it’s new and I’m having fun learning the shortcuts, siege placement for attack and defense, etc.

Let me ask you this. What benefit does a tower give? What benefit causes a server to defend it, and what benefit causes a server to want to capture it? What relevance does it have to the other structures on the map?

Being towers just PPT, in that i agree, they improved the map but the core problem stayed behind, do you think that if Anet improved also the importance of the towers besides the boon they provide, players would want that or QQ that would be a pve element boosting other guild that owns the tower?

ex: Like towers and open field camps would serve to control territory that would provide more drops, raw materials etc..

it is possible, but for pve, wvw, for pvp u need to take medi and shouts traited to spam the blocks and dodges, since u will have low health and damage builds will get u easilly if u bork up a well timed block to roll.

Also bunker guard leeches to much of the party (IMO) u better get other class that does not scrifices to much, dont bother with heavy armor damage reducing it is just arround 7%-10% from light armor, thus other classes migh have better tools to be beefy w/o leeching and draggin a bit the party.

if it was to that, all we needed was a square plain map to blob colliding, the one that splashed more water would win(for sure groups would try to abuse in some sorta bring more class X to win and call best gvg, wich imo is a insult to the older game), i dont think that would be a decent game either…

Yes sure, as the already existing maps are and were “just plain terrain” so fixing bugs would automatically lead in everybody just wanting “plain terrain”. shakes head

I don’t think u fully understand what i have told, my english isn’t that good either, but when i see Anet improving the map and people complaining that all they want is fight when Anet releases a more elaborated map does not make sense, it is easily to assume that what those posts meant are a request for a plain square were people fight w/o stuff they call “pve elements”.
The plain square map was a joke for those wvw who say they want to fight and got mad about the new map.

after the big patch patch game is more about number and aoe than properly play well, you will struggle much more fighting a group with more players.

offense easilly shatters defense, plus numbers..

Also we have armor that will add condi duration that migh be the reason for it, the loss of other stats is minimal so it kinda makes sense.

By the other hand overall player migh have more ways to get read from condis.

I think they give the bow to the guard to be able to play the pirate ship… Because yes, it’s close to impossible to play melee atm, and the new map only help more and more pirate ship…

Exactly my toughs when they released the DH, altough they will try to add every weapon avaliable to every class in future.

WvW is dead because the meta remained unchanged for about a whole year.

If you’ve been playing long enough, you could have seen the shift over the past year where players went to the zone actually looking to fight to going there to follow a “commander” to take the same objectives over and over and over and over with no opposition.

HOT way took too long to drop, and I really don’t see WvW popping off again, but I hope I’m wrong.

EDIT: In both WvW and sPvP game modes updates have been too few and it shows.

I actually think that the changes made to gameplay had a huge cause in this – “stability”.
Wvw is frustrating, no matter what – mistakes happen, trolls are around, bugs are around, lags are around – all of this takes its toll. I’m not sure if people really wanted new maps (I didn’t – but I’m okay with them) or if they wanted fixes.
So yes, it has been ignored for too long and the devs seemed to be out of touch with what wvw really needs/needed.

if it was to that, all we needed was a square plain map to blob colliding, the one that splashed more water would win(gor sure groups would try to abuse in some sorta bring more class X to win and call best gvg, wich imo is a insult to the older game), i dont think that would be a decent game either…

Like i said it before, in the old BL some groups only attacked if BL was empty, and leaved at minor resistance just because they would take longer time a bit of more effort, this is the groups that actually are missing at WVW, and i actually dont mind with it.
Also EOTM made players being even more cheaper and wanting everything delivered reason they dont do wvw and spend more time leeching than playing decently.

Delete EOTM, reducate players if that is even possible and wvw gets fixed.

Probably low hp to balance out the fact that F2 is essentially another fat block of eHP. Also: with revenant having high tier hp, all armor weights and hp tiers are finally evenly represented: 3 high tier hp (warrior, revenant, necromancer), 3 mid tier hp (engineer, ranger, mesmer) and 3 low tier hp (guardian, thief, elementalist). Increasing guardian’s hp would throw off that pretty “balance”!

dont touch my guardian f2 i sacrifice to much stats for that skill be good, it is very good support for a guardian DH that does not use bow nor traps.

U actually need to use some stats giving healing power + food + sigil for more stats for that skill to have a pretty good heal, and that in guardians is a hell of a sacrifice, with a good vitality and +300 vit trait plus X% outgoing heal boost (adds like arround 1.1k heal to f2) but also takes the place of better traits and more useful traits.
Like i said it is a hell of a “sadcrifice” for a guardian to tune up some skills.

Since our elite signet isnt a good option to use, with its 4seconds cast time and 10 seconds with a1k heal, we need to have other panic button to heal allies.

Usually when I play I like to run into people. Maps are to big for roamers. Automatic upgrades take a player aspect out of a player driven game mode kind of defeats the purpose.

besides the super easy event at the center, upgrades should be only available to towers that were not abandoned, and a guild should take the place, thus the full row upgrade could stay but it would need human intervention to start the upgrades, this would make players/guilds select that tower as their wvw place IF we had players to do that certain groups could even try to expertise on certain parts of the map.

^this, and eotm should be removed from game, was a nice idea but it does not work, and makes more players that want everything w/o work or fight.

Anet created those bad habits on players, i think we can see from this pov.

They took to long time to improve WvW, also atm lots of player migh left because game actually made them to think (a bit more), and they cant faceroll everything by tapping keys, i do remember guilds/pugs of 20-30 leaving my server bl if they found ~5 players defending, people dont like challange because it is an atrition to what they think they deserve…

This feels wvw is now what was supose to be (and looks it as alot to improve and be more fun, im still watting to see the charr panzer in action), apart the lack of players wich migh get fixed when every one farmed their new gear, other way is to make some gears avaliable on WvW so we can get back to it asap :P

I wouldn’t mind it being reduced to 3 seconds base if & only if they drastically reduced the CD to like 35-40 seconds.

As is many guardian abilities are on extremely long cool downs & or have far to long a cast time thus rarely ever see use.
Courage is the rare exception because of how useful it truly is.

Guardian if wasnt the poor decision on the old traits/utilities, class atm with the add of the DH would be really really amazing, we have alot of old stuff that is more a waste of utilitie than we will ever find a decent excuse to use it.

Spirit weapons, Sanctuary, ,our new elite signet is impossible to use on a fight due the amounts of cc, some grandmaster trait collision (in the sense we had far better options before big patch).

Guardian is almost there, for sure it might be the only class that can have everything working with a small tune.

Other classes Anet to catter the players must be paying with tune up output damage.

Easy to one shot my theif…… all they have to do is add a global cd on putting traps down so you cant just put down all 3 at once.

… other classes have a easy gimmik way to kill targets without effort, no one cares and played them, they start to have difficult and low knowledge(ebcause class is new) to avoid traps or minimizing the damage from them they cry because class is OP.

The thing i agree is that traps were not a nice news for the guardians, thus anet increased their damage to be accepted, players tend to accept what does big numbers, instead of that Anet should had went to functionality to cover it.

btw what happens if u guys cough a guardian with all traps on cd?

Let’s get 3v3’s already and get people back into WvW with better incentives.

hehe i would prefer balanced towards 8 man team like gw1 >:] wich means 8 man GvG league, since we have more than 8 classes atm.

They already have a higher base toughness, but it really limits us since we always have to go with vitality one way or the other.

An increase can happen, but maybe not to warrior level.

Guardians have several small ways of healing yet to much sacrifice to make it decently work.
Guardian have best toughness pool yet toughness is overrated for the small amount of hp we have, also toughness is barelly useless in this game after some amount.

If we try to make toughness work with healing power with a decent vitality to sustain the other 2 stats, we will loose everything else and cant do much besides aegis and speed boon bots.

Anet gave us a trait that increase vit in +300, and a decent boost to output healing, the problem i notice is that we have alot conflicts in the grandmasters after the 23 jully patch, Anet only made it work for the medi guard and borked a bit up the non medi guards.

They should pay attention to that. (imo i had better option before the big patch since i dont use meditations.)

In all honesty, 99% of the “Dragonhunter is terrible!” is perception, not reality. Personally, I love it. I’ve played a Ranger for over 3,000 hours, loathed Druid and adore Dragonhunter.

Im loving the DH also, the funny thing is i got elite spec and im not playin with bow and traps, yest feels awesome.

I did not like the bow, for my play style.

guys…. this is normal to happen, every one is tunning their new spec and farming the new stats, within time every one will pop into wvw.

Another thing is players are lvling their GH and that will consume also time farming mats.

The new border is fine, if players want a free easy pvd game, i think that is the one that should be added to a extra map like eotm.

The new BL is really very good for team work, what we need to wait and see how many of the new players will join WvW.
