Alliances would be nice but they will do something to bork up alliancse that will make people facepalm alot….
For alliances to work well they have to change alot of thing on the game… to start.

@X T D.6458 i never fought modremoth nor never will, but gw2 as alot of references to Diablo3 wich is cool, even mesmer shield are based on diable elementalist dome that slows down range and enemies.

Smal correction just cause “unique” sounds as if guardians were the only with aegis.

It is not unique to guard, but guardian is the class that has more aegis, what is unique is how guardians can use the aegis to shatter it remove condis and also heal.

Projectile hate is immense in this game. But you are right. It is my mistake to forget dragonhunter apart from revenant. I tend to erase the insult it brought to rangers from my memory.

Pretty much this, few guards can do that role really nice, with SoA, SotA, WoR, i woulc say sanctuary but that skill is a bit of a joke.., now had also a few Ventauri rev’s and basicly groups is anti range single target, still need to know how to rotate skill casting and position, so it is not that simple but does the trick.

The big issue is the sacrifice some classes do compared with others, some can do alot of roles w/o sacrificing much while others to be at the same level will sacrifice barelly everything to do 1 thing well.
And this gives the impression long range damage is to high, range problem in WvW is the meta ship tactic, mostly are AOE casters and in WvW is AOE plus numbers to win, nothing more (reason players love the small and easy to cross maps like eb and old alpine).

And.. im getting to start getting blunt&rude ideias, about anet quality and game balance better end here….

It could be possible fun only with 300 people battling…then you could use it to your advantage etc…but wvw as is now, its just makes people NOT want to go wvw even more

well the vertical axis for maps can be quite fun, but as ic server wvw mechanics does not support it, due low pop for to much verticality, no mechanics besides 100% speed uptime and run arround, pvd and use eles and necros(mostly) to wipe everything on walls, weird buffs that could be changed with more mechanics instead of “cheap buffs” and then the castles design.
The new BL is really good but is not rock solid, it has alot of issues.

That would lead to more classes and builds on esports with a not so strong meta, would then be more based in players skills and less in class performance! it would be crazy can u imagine people QQ because they had to learn to play classes and button were less efective???

Sorry, i dont want to be blunt, but my opnion of gw2 pvp players compared with gw1(hat off like a sir to those) is a bit bad, got nothing against the gw2 players but class “performance / gameplay” is really awfull here.

game wont get balanced, they will flip meta in favour of other classes, or change the skills damage so players set the same classes to other weapon and gear, then goto start, wait until people notice what is strong and super effective, reroll meta to another gear and weapon, repeat.

Im constantly amazed at how many ambers/emeralds/Sapphires keep rushing headlong into my traps. I had stopped using Dragons Maw because i felt it was too easy to dodge. Then i switched back when i saw so many of my soloq team mates dying to enemy DH Dragons Maw.

People just want to rush spam buttons and win….. DH should be changed to SH ( Skritt Hunter)

Yes this is extremely accurate. DH will always be target priority since theyre absolutely easy to destroy within 10s regardless of their cds.

still many people dont believe that, and when i read on chat "healing power is to counter poison, " stuff like that, and those people talk with a assumption that know everything of the game…. i start thinking if these players aren’t the ones that are doing the feedback to Anet balance and changes…

It sure looks like gliding was something they were going to put in there, but they probably decided they didn’t want the headache of people who have HoT gliding and those that didn’t buy the expansion. Gliding would make the BL more tolerable.

well glide in wvw would be fun even if was only for HoT users imo, but thay had to limit the gliding path, classes and number of glidders in wvw, if not we would ending with mesmer glide directly inside to towers or groups glididng directly to lords, and by this WvW would have to change alot to allow glide.

well it is easy to make high damage add the aoe spam to the recipe and then some things that are broken for being to much or to much useless, and everyone needs to get defensive stats…. not that hard to notice.

Imo hunters fortification combined with hunter determination and dulled sense seems a good combo for more melee support DH’s such as mace/shield but this role looks way much more viable in WvW than spvp.

BE clever use the yellow dot to know what spy is spying, dont talk in TS either for the main group nor map chat (usually a get a untagged guild to do main job).

It is not the players fault, player were just being clever to use wat is stronger.

Theres alot of “placebos” going by, and the skrits are getting trapped easilly, it is how the industry works.

If players can’t " one " to " three shot " one dead, it’s going to be up to skill to “win”. Give us a chance for skill to be evident, not impossible.

Wrong game mate, last big changes(lat year)made Aoe blob and numbers plus alot of stuff going on the oposite way of that… it seams game is evolving not for “much of player skill” but to player skill/cleverness to find cheaper gameplay.

If every one needs a few press buttons to kill eveyone fill rewarded, game balance was never good except fot those “clever” players that play the gimmick builds and game tends to balance itself on gimmick vs gimmick, it means less maintainance time balancing classes because no balance is needed.

Yeah neither the EoTM tech or the PvE megaserver tech would be right for WvW.

IMO just treating the servers like a FPS game would do it. Join one, switch to another if you don’t like, queue for one if you wish… Easy peasy.

I understand what ur saying but dont agree with that, games need to have some meaning to the players, something that makes them stay, not making player work even more useless, wich IMO that is what that change would create, less importance of the player more player flip server, more stacking, more confusion etc.

The gw2 problem is way to much unbalanced action skills, and player importance is zero, beside AOE stack and PVD.
Another one is megaserver hardly work, because game engine does not support the necessary changes for make it work., megaserver itself is an ilusion.

Prot boon and aegis is fine, prot boon should have the duration changed for a longer duration, since guardian can achieve the 100% prot(party wide) with hammer.

(Edit: other classes can have so much if ANet added also daze to shield 4 w/o change the skill would be far from op, :P, Guard shield is that weapon u can add averything since is a no damage tool rarelly gets to strong to a certain extent …..compared with other class options.)

Actually aegis on shield it is a must have imo, heal+remove condi+ block,criple 5 targets, and possible shatter ir for those who like to do it.
Regen is a bit underdog, large investements to make it worth decently…

shield 5, ive noticed the skill not doing the KB once in a awhile when traited with dulled senses.

1. don’t trigger the trap..
2. double dodge through the traps
3. block the traps with Shield or the wrench thingy (sorry don’t play engi^^)
4. stay at range
5. condi
6. kyte
7. use the elixer that makes you mini inside the traps
8. stunbreak ot of the traps
and so on, traps are patheticly easy to counter as soon as you know the mechanics

Flamethrower KB also is good, for sure the DH zone before th KB is a trap spam zone, dont go straigh make a circle to avoid the zone between both after the BK, at mininal trap animation jump dodge.

breaking down my stats with celestial only 15% of my self healing comes from AH which was kind of disappointing. need to check my logs a little further. I would need 40+ Aegis procs as well to surpass AH which seems a lot it does heal quite well for teammates.
(…)Taking Staff mastery would lift me to 100% boon duration with a Herald in team which would cause some serious uptime on several boons.

Tks for the pvp tests with that build, atm ive dropped AH since imo is only usefull em used with empower, and on WvW frtonlines are aoe casters(pirate ship with random aoe spam at frontline hitting nothing), so i stay back eating my popcorn.

100% with rev? dammn that is excelent news lol, never tough was that much!

RO WoE was the best, one of the main reasons i decided to play GW2 because WvW reminded me of it. Miss that game so much.

Same, i actually was playing DaoC and RO when started to play GW1, reason got hyped into gw2 wvw.

This seams very similiar to Ragnarok Online “War of Emperium” where they had several castles where guild could counquer against heach other make their own base in pve, map queus were a problem and this would be even a worse problem to gw2 since game is to heavy dependand form shard and limitig numbers of players per shard.

To make that to work, game could adopt a megaserver + Mist war map, with several maps, each map had 2 castles + resources to guild and players or 4/8 towers with guild resrouces to help the smaller guilds to improving their GH.
Anet could adopt and change the tyria map add each faction a spawn point or drop ship to atack XYZ map, factions map boundries should have a defense and atacking point frontier similiar to “The Great Northern Wall”.

This way game would mantain the Guildwars theme, guilds could fight w/o moving server and creating the popilation issues just to fight another guilds, communities could stay together if they are really that organized, game could add some flavour by owning a zone where alliance could upgrade area aggound the castle, mine, supply camp, not so dirty gimmick thing kitten open spots for daredevil/thief class role in WvW use glide pad to scout map and alerting of enemies on map, thus players being rewarded etc.

let me add an example how guilds could work in a “open intanced map world”.
Guilds could form up an alliance, if needed to add more non-friendly fire IF alliance guilds were full there would be another option to set Friendly guild/alliance, and other to add Enemy-guild, if a enemy guild were spoted in map(like the actual sentries detecting enemies) would alert the entire guild “guild X spoted in XYZ”, and this would happen only if same guilds were in same map only.
Altough i do believe game engine and Anet evolution point of view goes against a open world game w/o shard system, spread withing redundancies and resets, WvW could be a continuous gameplay even have a ladder per faction to most contribuious guilds.

Vieux P.1238 the problem to WvW is that it went to much themepark, and Anet improved more guimmicks trying to cover the real issue, and thus leaving into game state, wich is actually the oposite from wha tpeople want, people want to have credit for batling besides server ppt that gets reseted every 7 days, it is a good placebo to make people keep doing the same redundancies without adding more valuable rewards to group play and fix alot of issues.

just my 2 cents, just to say this changes could exist just not in pve map.

Edit: 2 problems in my opinion with gw2 evolution and testing was that their experiences went only inside Action mmo based and themepark mmo.

play other class, our healing power is a suicide if we try to use those stats, low health(guardian actually sacrifices alot by setting one of this stats and kinda needs both) and several other game issues leaves other classes better for survuability/sturdiness(altough some to achieve that your keyboard turns into a piano).

Drop traps,use shelted and RF, set block to remove condi wich is possible in DH, probably must use soldier runes to remove condi form allies or trait or even both , while ur using them ur kinda safe, other than that play a tempest healing bot?

Anet need first to fix either our healing power or make toughness more valuable in guard, high crits will hight crit even with protection on, a low health guardian is a dead guardian most of times :P

2 works better than Warrior’s 100b (lower dps yeah, but still higher than most guardian’s skills).

Whirling wrath actually has higher dps than 100 Blades and is, in my opinion, definitely the superior skill of the two in just about every way conceivable. People just look at total damage numbers and assume it’s lower. What they don’t take into account is that WW does it’s damage over just under 1 second while 100 Blades does its damage over 3.5 seconds.

Talking about Whirling Wrath right??

@Tenrai Senshi.2017, that sounded like WW will dish its full damag at the first second wich is not true, i can just get hitted by the first hit and then evedade or block 6 other hits meawhile.
Each WW hit goes arround 2k-3k same happens with 100B.

@Aomine.5012 well about GS clunky… i would like symbols were better :P, they are kinda clunky, like symbols bein traited by default, and make a new trait to cover that loss with somethign that guardian/DH needs to.

yeah meditation on that could be removed, FMV with staff trait gets a 15sec fury and 7 seconds quickness, plus uf u have a revenant sharing the boon duration u might get interesting values on some guardian skills.

IF we have a wvw design where “ppt” guild base was due offense/defense for the server(alliance) contribution to land coquered over XYZ servers, that would make guild actually fight more probably due ladder of contribution and guild importance to that server.

Still, thinking a bit more it would solve the “problem” just for some time, other problems would surge due the real issue still there.

What ic wrong here is the core map redundancy and servers mechanics, factions would be a nice thing to add but as pointed human nature would not help, and probably would end in alot of bickiring.

WvW would fit more in land control fights thant ppt karma train farm, actually i dont think it is hard to get a design for this working .being with 3 or 10+ servers.
Gaab i agree with you after some tough, that would kill the gamemode and most players would try to play it like EOTM because they are allowed to that, Anet should have learnt player behavior by this time, the thing is i doubt they really want to inovate, rather pretend** to inovate with a few changes w/o solving the main issue.

Whitout those core changes players will always ignore the lame and kitten gimmmick Anet add to the WvW game, because they dont wan the game to envolve, just being a place to spam and stack….

Lucky there is no competitor directly in EU and NA market to the RvR system, the first clever company that does this right and well…. A quite portion of players wont stay in gw2 for its pvp nor pve.

a bit based on what i play wvw…. instead realying on the awfull healin power guards could drop that stat and use boon duration ?

since u had shield and sturdy guard always play by side of a team mate, tough to add cripple to shield KB, since shield kittens 5 targets.

Also RF with that runes, cleans 2 condis to team, blocks phsisical atacks and heals the user also recharging virtues.

We’d like to thank everyone for their feedback so far. Leagues are a complicated system and we’ll be iterating on it until we get it right.

The pvp league is more critical than wvw, how could they ignore players leeching easy rank farm?
It is perfectly understandable, besides WvW problems take far more time to fix, Anet would make the worng move if their didnt fix the pvp ladder first.
The wvw problem also lies in its player base that want thing delivered and made easy, as easy solable towers in few minutes like we had in the hold empty bl, this mixed with some wrong WvW mechanics in the new bl …… so it is a bit(much more) tricky to make it pleasent for everyone.

More critical to whom?
WvW has far more people playing than their failed e-sport, or at least it did until they killed it, who knows now.

It doesn’t matter which is easier to fix, the fact is they are very clearly actively working on PvP and communicating with its player base. All we are getting is absolute kitten changes and vague rumors on reddit.

As a player that does only WvW, i do understand you.
Besides gw2 pvp faillure (wich is a true fact, for several reasons…saddly), Anet is a bit blunt to notice what is happening and make true and real changes, they rather try to patch running arround the problem itself to cover it (talking about WvW here), but here in “spvp” it is a critical issue, needs to get fixed asap still they will take some time to not scare players, dont forget that some players will only continue to play pvp while they can easilly farm their position, and due importance this game mode is far more important than WVW, wich was suposed to be a forgoten mode where pve’ers gather in blob and karma train towers and gatther ppt that will be reseted every week.
PVP will always be top priority over WvW, and it is far more easy to talk/ send message to pvp community than WVW one, since most only want a place to farm and call that a fight and other want a place to play that has some importance/impact, gather this and the Anet bluntness to fix the core problem of WvW… so we will have companies that use the bait system in external forums to see community atitude when presenting changes, rather than talk directly to WvW community, the new map is a good example of community and Anet bluntness, still more community(feedback problems) fault than Anet.

btw if i recall chrono get time reduced in portal CD, that even helps porting up the golems to destiny, still wondering why people want traveler runes….

I probably would. I like my server’s community and the fight against other servers, chainging weekly. TBH for around one year now, I’ve stayed in the game due to the server community.

im still trying to understand how merges into faction would cut your server community ?

A community should get organized to know wich faction would end/choose, and then grow with other community that joined that faction.
Probably players that ur even used to fight against, and who knows?
If u know each other tactics, that would help to work with the other community and vice-versa.

The pvp league is more critical than wvw, how could they ignore players leeching easy rank farm?
It is perfectly understandable, besides WvW problems take far more time to fix, Anet would make the worng move if their didnt fix the pvp ladder first.
The wvw problem also lies in its player base that want thing delivered and made easy, as easy solable towers in few minutes like we had in the hold empty bl, this mixed with some wrong WvW mechanics in the new bl …… so it is a bit(much more) tricky to make it pleasent for everyone.

So I’ve been doing a lot of tanking on my guard, still haven’t cleared VG though (mostly PuG). And I’m wondering what anyone else thinks about having dragon hunter as a traitline while maybe making use of half the traits in there.

Is going DH as a tank a waste?

DH is an offensive trait line, which won’t help you tank. But as we get better, more and more people are looking for a more and more offensive tank with just enough to keep agro and survive. In that sense DH is very good.

We use a Celestial Tank with Zeal/Honor/DH. It’s surviability come from the Hammer Protection and celestial gear, while doing a decent dps. He also bring Bane Signet and the blade trap for more dps. You can even go farther and replace the celestial gear with knight armor with scholar rune and zerker trinket for an even more offensive tank.

If the celestial tank work well in pug, the Knight variance is a bit too dependent on the healer for some pugs.

This is how i use DH to help me to get pseudo-sturdy, “tanky” is a wrong word for guardian due the low health limitation IMO.
-Blocking removes a condi, when blocked with Aegis besides remove condi heals arround 600 health.
-Duelled senses when KB (Shield 5th skill) targets will criple and vulnerability so team will get more time interval to aoe spike target for the easy win.
- Hunter determination when it happens will drop fragments with the block it will cleanse condis and heal to, still it is an unoticiable heal compared to the easy damage output this game offers.

This is also a build easy to defeat so not allowed to do 1 vs 1 fight, mostly team and positioning helping allies.

I got alot of cleanses on this build, still i found your damage build far more usefull than a defensive guardian :\

I would take force of will to increase surviability duration but, it is useless…

Cleric Guard to Crusader Guard?

So I am playing Cleric guard since ever because I really like the playstyle. Mindnumbingly running into masses and just laying down that Mace.

Now obviously that isnt much fun in HoT anymore because mobs got double the HP and now I feel my lacking damage.
Problem: I still wanna keep that “going in and staying in” playstyle. Does Crusader help in that case? Will I do a little more damage and still can do Altruistic Healing and all that jazz?

Also, what would be more viable in that case for raids (which obviously needs Toughness but I am liking the Healing Power stat much too)

GW2 is a game where u only need damage, defense easilly gets shatered by DPS classes, and in PVE you would get old age before kill a high health pool veteran mob.
Healing power never was good in guardian, it needs to sacrifice all other stats to be a good stat and that would get you in several problems, low vit, very low damage, “tankish” builds only works in pve, still some mobs if u dont dodge or block u will get 1hit ko due guardian being one of the low health class, etc.

Best defense here is kill target before he kills you, guards are not that tanky(only a bit sturdy due Shelter and RF, hardly a guardian survives w/o one of them, class is to much dependabe on this 2 skills)u got several classes with better surviability duration.

healing power guards were the build that were used in the first month of the game then people change build because was not good when people learned the game.

Advice: as much i wold love to play a healing build (i use mace/shield ), it does not work, most armor stats are useless and create a impression that builds exis, STILL if u want to get something arround that get your healing power somewhere arround ~600 and increase other stats as damage, u will notice that far u increase output damage game gets easy.

Guys… guys it is Anet at balance mostly the worst thing they do is game balance…
Anet only know how to increase damage and reduce damage to shift metas… gw2 isnt about balance.
