-> balance teams under 8 man like they were on gw1
Balance was far better there, and more know how/teamplay was needed, even TA worked fine, funny cause for some time 4 ele’s/mes (echo ,evoke lighting, ) party were the meta there to….so spvp would lead almost to the same…
-with a decent gvg like we had on gw1 players will use less the WvW for guild pseudo GVG, that isnt more than a splash spam all waterfiels and aoe, wins who has more watterfields and AOE damage ouput, player call that gvg but it isnt true gvg…
-Bring back 8vs8 GvG fight like we had on gw1 + ladder, so guilds have something to fight for with a guild ladder (this was REAL STRONG POINT, GW HAD).
-then on WvW add option to Guild commander tag be the guild symbol, even if it is a GH improvement.

Depending on how hard ele, mes, rev, necro, and engi get nerfed, we might be getting the last nail in our collective coffins.
the only nerf so far is that ele will be less stronger against necros, scrappers seams a bit fair balance change, most changes will be damage buffes, guardian will have what we dont use a bit stronger, stability will still work badly, (still none will care), and easy traps will get hitted, bow migh get a small nerf to.
About ravenant they migh not touch on what is very strong on that class in expectation people use it, migh migh even buff more the class, but i hope im wrong..
Guardians are balanced
they are easilly killed outside medi trapper spam.

for your info, my ac’s sometimes even get almost inside the wall from inner, and i builted them down to top form inner also on the larger paths, i dont place ac’s randomly.
→ The issue im talking is how a little aoe can destroy most siege on the wallm, or did player LoS changed?

Guys you ask to nerf scrapper damage, scrapper defense. Just go delete this elite is easier.

yeah but will not do much or almost nothing against the only gameplay we have at wvw that feels mostly like “AoE to win”, having necros and eles casting from some places is much more efective then superior ac most of the time, better damage, mobility etc.

@Zachary Stierssiege, any siege on walls is close to be useless no matter if its setted form the inner side of the wall it is easilly reachable and nuked by eles, and all that takes is a 3-4 seconds max to destroy several siege.
Doggie.3184 u need to IRL pray to RNG, sometimes would be better games have no drops besides mats and we have to craft stuff form quest npc’s or something similiar.

Please just tell us that after this balance patch we won’t get hit for 24k Coalescence of Ruin double hits from a single cast in WvW.
Its your like..3 or 4 post in this thread about something noone care. It doesnt go anywhere so the qq is pointless. Dont want to be hit for 10k cor? Time to get toughness gear and move on.
on guard with 3.5k armor plus prot still do arround 6k 2x with means 12k+ at least on 1.2k range, it is not a QQ, it is dumb gameplay.
it is a call for bad players from other games be cool at gw2, nothing more… no wonder this game it is a joke at sports.
other classes to that value or more in bunker guard so it is balanced
it wont be much of a balance update, what is weak will continue weak, and they will make what is stronger even stronger just make a small rotation of desirable weapons and one or two traits changes.
they will increase damage even more for some classes that already have a very strong damage ouput, while defensive boons will increase form 5 to 8 in intensity and 3 or 4 seconds more duration.
It will force players to use even more defensive stats, due more power creeper from meta classes against non meta classes, CC spam will be the same, but damage optimized builds on some classes might do more damage also.
This is what im expecting.

good WvW design and gameplay more teamwork less gimmicks being classes or map mechanics.
And also not use new content in expection that bugs get forgotton wile players adress new bugs.
Crinn.7864, having no counter means no flexibility, every one is tied to that, also bunker meta is being used because gw2 is not needed much knowledge to kill a target inside a spectrum of classes, forcing almost every one to pick up classes with high surviability under certain stats whille also doing a good damage output that also mean less flexibility, with this 3 or 4 max amulets are being probably used across 8 classes and team composition is based on very very strong gimmick due class efectivess gap instead of team strategie and that also ends with team composition 5 being almost the same, that is also less flexibility.
They just need to be tweaked for better experience, problem is Anet understandings of better experience is less players knowledge and add more gimmicks.
if they changed that a bit the new map would be fine, and proly tweak a bit the canyons it looks not all players like it.
with the massive stunlock gameplay it is impossible to cast it even inside HG consecration lol….
I didnt realise this before, resintalled the game 2 days ago and did a bit of WvW, the CC spam and KD where stability dont work, i really dont understand Anet ideal of a game, they do really like to make bad players look good, and that is the reason game isnt that well accepted in esports (as a friend had pointed me out in the past)..
So.. i had to trait shout for faster CD use, cast stand your ground, inside hallowed ground on a pirate ship(there was no melee confront) and i was being interrupted almost every 2,3 second could not jump dodge, was getting kd also, and was also getting dazed every second inside a hallowed ground even when casted SyG inside consecration….
So more 2 skills on guardian that are not working????
Some classes have very low surviability for the amount of damage ouput and CC spam, the actual CC it would make sense if game was based on team work and spike, gank whatever to kill, but atm is the other way arround it is far to easy, it is a matter of pick X and Y class to be effective and spam buttons.
*Q: Anet what is needed to make skills and gameplay balanced (more clever) instead of spam range, aoe and CC to easy win? *
@MoonT.6845 that would be hard to make it work… if those smaller squads didnt get eaten by all aoe at the first seconds they would had to fall back, or proly since that is the same of a splited zerg the bigger blob would just need to clockwise and and invert direction and eat the smaller groups easilly with aoe and spikes.

@Unfathomed.4268, people wont get out of the meta obsession due meta build in some classes are mandatory, if u play how u want is more like a expect to loose in every fight just because your toon inst using a optimized build.
There is a huge gap in most classes efetiveness using a meta and non meta build wich imo that is what should be adressed.
DHs do need a nerf, but then again so does practically every other elite spec and arguably more than DH does.
Other players would QQ because they would need effort to win or cannot play the more meta builds(wich are to strong compared with no meta builds)… how dare u sir saing players need effort to win…
most people here on gw2 play because classes are more stronger than others, high damage on dfensive stats as exemple…

Step 2: Play the game
step 3 leech from party and stay back pressing one key and eating popcorn.
step 4 wait for brainless player or mob to tap your traps.

Grind Wars is a named deserve by over 90% of MMORPGs imo. It was easy to obtain gold in GW1 just by salvaging for the materials and selling the mats in Kamadan.
It’s much harder in GW2 due to many circumstance, we should also not ignore the elephant in the corner either, that it’s very alluring for a business model to have vested interest in making it harder due to the cash > gems > gold path way they have built into the game, and if you’re the beholder of a cynical attitude you can see that caked over every part of the game as a whole, the most difficult of questions to ask how to fairly balance the issue for both the company and the user of the system so that both are equally rewarded.
GW1 System was far superior when it comes to the economy, if only because you couldn’t buy gold “legally” you had to earn it.
There were more bots in GW1 than in GW2, there was another great purging of bots in GW1 in 2014. Several GW1 players turn to illegal sites, since you could not buy currency legally in GW1 with real money. GW1 is superior in several areas but when it comes to preventing bots GW2 wins, imo.
Bots have been in gw2 by thousands people just don’t bother looking for them.

I agree, I’ve rarely see bots anymore in GW2. It’s not on the same level as GW1, imo.
gw2 almost achieved the same prize but anet did well with that, at least they arent on same shard as player so its hard to know if bots still here…
I fully agree with the OP. Nerfed stabi + even more buffed hard CC with HoT is in my opinion very wrong direction. I loved strong melee position in large scale battles. It made the fights more dynamic and interesting. But obviously the devs think different – they want to buff backline casters with tons of AoE and CC who just stand and spam all the skills.
Actually I truly don’t think they understand the consequences of the change to stability even now.

It happened after their “adopt a dev” program so they know how important stability is. With this in mind it is more like troll lvl over 9000…
Dev was getting killed by melee so they tough of killing the mellee on their own way, also since every anet dev plays caster classes, even those with warrior use bow, reason wvw is based on numbers, less player skill, and more aoe, there isnt a balance between CC and stability.
joking asside…
Maybe the problem is that there is much AOE in this game, even most AA are aoe hitting 3 targets… if most skills start to hit only the target game migh become less spammy and people need to really start thinking, if we had lesser AOE game would get better for sure.
Just wondering, lesser hit, lesser calc and load from server, less lag, it would help right?

Brendan that really deppends the player, for pve i would say anythign works even naked character lol (i dont pve), but i would bet 14k-16k is a good vitality for pve, after that u might start sacrificing to much damage output..

The issue here is that their marketing project is making gw2 to be look like a awfull game(and this is not what even half people told me about gw2) but what Anet made is that Gw2 is all about unbalanced classes and rank farming, reason they try to avoid this game.
espuurtzz is doing the oposite to the game, people will laugh and leave how really the game works, and it is not Anet that has to adapt to easpuurtz it is the other way arround, bring bag 8 man gvg work classes to be balanced to team work and 8 man fight like we had in gw1….
Want to make a test, make the Grand Pavillion a 8 man traditional GvG fight with the old maps like a game event or something.
It would be better than working on awfull content that will make the game evem more stupid like the addons to wvw, even borked up a good map has the new bl…

I honestly don’t blame ANET this time. How long did everyone scream they wanted new maps??? So they finally give in, give new maps, now everyone is hollering we want the old back.
So if someone goes in for surgery for some medical issue and the doctors incompetently perform the wrong operation, it’s the patient’s fault for wanting to correct that medical issue?
Tym the maps were needed, the new map is not that bad but has alot of issues.
Still core WvW model is the real culprit, it didnt envolved, it is a sum of many bad ideias, that is the main issue that made players leave over time.
The biggest problem is that ANET doesn’t know the difference between a feature release and a balance patch. That is scary.
They do. They just didn’t do a balance patch before leagues (as promised) and retconned the feature release into a balance patch. Pretty sad.

C’mon they love unbalanced content, reason metas are not to be balanced but rotated when builds gets to much mainstream, it doest matter if is to much op or underpowered.
Even if it is a broken sigil or rune they dont fix, unless info get released by players, then when is a common stuff to use because it is broken they will fix it…

…and the most reoccurring element has been concern/pessimism for the future of the game. I know similar things happen for every MMO in varying degrees, but I noticed it seemingly everywhere I looked; regardless of the website over the course of the last few week(s). I know Anet does not talk about content updates much before hand, but from what I am seeing a large number of people need something to give them hope. A hope that what could potentially be their favorite game is not slowly dying away. I am not posting this to start anything; I have just recently returned for HoT myself, and am curious as to whether the community is really that lacking/in a bad way. I noticed a definite drop in the server populations (from full to high, and high to low, etc.). I just want to know if something occurred to warrant it, or if I am just not aware of changes that have been made that would cause at least the appearance of such a population shift. I am hoping for a number of positive changes/additions that spell a bright future in Tyria as we move into this new year.
Server population drop is from pretty much everyone quitting WvW because of the terrible changes to WvW in HoT.
Not only HoT, it is what Anet have been doing overall, even before HoT.
Was easy to see that this game would turn to be a stale a dumb(by being to easy) game with every update.
And to have more bruiser classes what is needed?
That means put all bunkers on the lvl of the guardian bunker build, they would QQ alot.
The flaw is that is very easy to make damage, reason some classes go bunker specs and still do alot of output damage while gains alot of surviability, they dont sacrifice much compared with potato(bunker) guardians.
The bunkering is being forced, because w/o dps classes with bunkers specs those matches would be everyone barelly instagibbing each other with a well succeeded key spam by just one class.
On gw1 players needed to know when and who to spike, players needed more knowledge and team tactic to win a match much more than gw2, wich is a veary friendly pvp game because " bad balance"(exist for some logical reason) and makes every one kill easilly the target by picking certain build.

Aegis is guardian’s unique boon
Smal correction just cause “unique” sounds as if guardians were the only with aegis.
It is not unique to guard, but guardian is the class that has more aegis, what is unique is how guardians can use the aegis to shatter it remove condis and also heal.
In a way, it is indeed strictly unique to guardian. Other than the two rune sets, only guardian can apply aegis on demand. The only other sources of aegis are mesmer’s randomly selected boons from a set of others, or by converting conditions into boons (specifically, burning turns into aegis). also thief stealing from mesmers
Yeah but aegis on mesmer happens alot, when i played mine i had alot of aegis RNG i guess, and still nowadays ive seen blocks one after another when tryed to drop mesmer from a cliff with my shield 5, i ended with my 25khp bursted in 2-3 seconds XD on bunker spec with prot and i could not damage the mesmer with my mace, ive died even in the midle of shelter animation so…i guess there are really strong unnblockable skills, so clever casted aegis wont even save he guard (if i recall something hitted me over 10k, prolly a revenant passign by, i didnt payed much atention to the new specs overhall).
The major problem is that defensive guardian looses alot compared with other classes on defensive roles, we have better aegis management that is unique to the class, but overall it won help much comapred with more dedicated DPS classes on bunker specs.

Some light classes have more health sustain and damage than a sturdy guardian, with that you will loose all your damage in exchange of a few boons that almost for sure your friends also have, guardian is not a tanker (there are far better tanker in game than guardian, guard tanker even on pvp only works against terribad players), a bit surdy but far from being a tanker, also sturdy guard on pvp also only works against really bad players.
In pve anything works so all u and your freinds need to go is fully optimized for damage output being in condi or phisical.

@Lord Kuru.3685, sadly that happens ,i’ve seen larger server trolling the much smaller server to make karma train even easier..
troll wrong siege spamming arrow carts on the commander at gates, troll commander that lead to wrong places, etc, there are plenty of ways to do that.
remove walls form towers and castles they add vertical complexity to the game, people spend time there.

Leaps, shroud, shields, shouts? aren’t those the means of heroes to charge to the battlefield against a battery of light armored ranged attackers line? … I guess I have to re learn my medieval warfare concepts.
Nowadays heroes charge at the popcorn from the backlines while pressing 1;1;1;1;1, and avoid being bags, reason we have bows now.
That would be to much skills for them to look at imo, dont think they could manage to do that, they cant even do well with the actual system and classes today have what? 1 or 2 mandatory weapon due damage output, rest is mostly useless since has lower damage?
One way or other that is what anet is trying to achieve instead of having dual class system they tune up class X to have Y similiar skills, example of DH and Ranger, the issue is some classes performance itself does not use well stats as others, guardian to make good damage needs to be very squishy while others will still burst easilly on sturdy gear and vice-versa.
One thing that i noticed that is not making this goes well is that every class has acess to same stat value while that value corresponds for too much or a to low performance, each class should have their own stats for armors and toon, depending from what that build/role is being used, with that would be easier to balance.

It is a good thing that scrapper gyros didnt went that bad, some on Anet have learned something.
well Anet is trying to make every class have a similiar copy pasta way to play from other classes, they will keep adding weapons and traits wich will i’m guessing now, even guards and warrior will have stealth someday, eles will have their water bow creepa back someday when Anet make that weapon as main etc…
This will lead to alot of problems because it looks they are just doing it because they dont know what else to inovate the classes, and thus might be the easiest or slacking solution to take care of a game.
