i kinda hope not because I’d love to see the living story go far away from southsun and LA in general.
I miss the ole Lions fountain. it would be nice to see it again sometime soon.
First race will be tengu, all the evidence supports this. It might be a little while before we see them as one but It would be a crime to not have the tengu the next playable race.
Largos I would to love to see as a playable race the only problem i have with them is we haven’t met any Largos that arent assassins. I just have trouble imagining a Largos elementalist or engineer (not saying its not possible since I have trouble seeing a sylvari engineer too).
In a recent interview Colin said they would be much more apt to add new skills and weps to existing professions than try to balance a whole new profession to fill one of the small niches they havent covered play style wise. Dont get your hopes up for a ritualist.
I played GW1 a lot so maybe I have a predisposition towards humans. I made a couple sylvari but 7/9 of my characters are human. I hate Charr and am a proud Ascalonian Royalist.
Asuras teeth bother me(minor issue i know) and their attitudes irritate me enough to not play them.
Norn are slow. . . It wouldnt be bad if the norn has a perma 25% speed buff like thief, ranger, etc but they seem too slow for me. I tried making several norn if for nothing else than to have the cultural armor but they just dont stick.
Edit: Oh and I picked human because in the “found my sisters dead body” story choice you get to pick where your ancestors came from, total win win for a Canthan Guardian and an Ascalonian Mesmer.(even if it doesnt make any difference to the story its a nice little touch when you write backstories to your characters)

It is quite simple really,I hate Charr.
I really really understand the sentiment as I vividly remember the Searing. Accursed beasts ruined my favorite place in Prophecies.
I’m not sure if I want Kiel(the boring upstart) or Gnashblade(the greedy merchant) to win. The discounts are only for 4 weeks so they’re minor bonuses. The fall of Abbadon(1st fall) sounds far more interesting than chernobyl Asura-style The Thaumanova Reactor meltdown, but I dont run fractals.
I suppose what really matters is if Kiel gets elected to the council will she become a minor character we only see on dragon bash and the like(conclude her part in the living story as it were) or will we do more work for her than when she wasnt on the council. We(the players) will likely not be privy to that information until after the election(if ever). Either way we probably wont see that much of Gnashblade since he has been an ultra minor character as far as the living story is concerned.
You’re not going to fight primordus, lets just face that fact right now. You will probably fight a Great destroyer look alike. I hated the Great Destroyer so I think im gonna pass on that one. That said it would probably be more interesting to witness the fall of a god than chernobyl recreated. Even if all we do is fight some abbadon mobs n stuff.
hmmmm…“abbadon mobs n stuff” vs hordes of unleashed dragon minions, alternate dimension entities and angry displaced beasts from the world over all while an asuran style nuclear reactor is building to critical and you need to get out fast in the style of resident evil games and other survival games allong with “new” lore instead of lore we allready know about.
hmmmmm… your totally right vote nash today.
There i feel totally better now that ive got the sarcasm out of my bloodstream. You know what they say “A post a day keeps your inner warrior at bay”
Be realistic here, it wont be nearly as glamorous as you want it to be. The reactor would probably just be to kill destroyer mobs then kill a megadestroyer type boss. Either way it’ll probably be boring like all the other fractals.
Dungeon in the Divinity’s Reach sinkhole.
/thread.
Can we please just rebuild the Canthan district on top of it? I dont need some random sewer dungeon.

I love how people took my response and failed to read all of it. I said I understand that It’s not really possible to do any of the things I listed in an mmo format, especially since there is a huge crop of players how arent gw1 vets. Basically my gripe is that I’m sick of being a sidekick to an npc. Its certainly easier for the writers to have an npc take all the glory and do great things while we play puppetmaster but it’s not Innovative. Anet is all about innovation, they say so on every blog post, video, and press conference. In short if Anet wanted to innovate the living story by giving the player instances where the choices they personally make affect their own experience they easily could. They did dabble in such tactics with the home instances during your personal story, they just never went further than dabbling in it though.
I’m just complaining really, I don’t expect or care if anyone reads this nor do I want any smartkitten responses about it. So if you’ve read this rant I commend you and if you decided not to waste your time and mine by quoting it I’ll give you a gold star. A good day to you all.
Vote for Evon, he may be a charr, addicted to rng, and be a greedy merchant but I’ll tell you what he’s not: Boring.
Kiel is boring, we are always her sidekick(just like Trahearne and Kormir) I dont want to be the sidekick anymore. WP cost reduction may be persuasive but it only lasts a month (thats a twelfth of a year people) and when you consider that we would be Kiels sidekick for years to come because now she is on the council those 2-3g you saved from wp’s start to look less and less worth it.
Vote Evon, so we aren’t the sidekick anymore.
I’ll run as an indepentant. A vote for me is a vote to bring the Canthan District back to DR, and fund an expedition to the glorious Continent of Cantha. Where we may once again spend our days wandering the Echovald and Jade Sea.
@SynfulChaot I get that it’s an mmo but I’d like to criticize a couple of your statements.
1. As the “Grand Marshall” of the Pact, Trahearne constantly defers to the player characters judgement. He’s a backseat leader that just takes the credit when things go well and expects you to save him when things dont.
2. I would love to have a statue in DR because I ascended to godhood in NF, not constantly be reminded that I was essentially a sidekick in my own story.
I get it, how can you personalize an mmo? It’s something the mmo industry has been asking since infancy. I’m just sick of gloryhogs that do none of the work.
If it was perma reduction I’d vote Kiel but you’re absolutely correct, 4 weeks of say 25% reduction(just a guess) really wouldn’t equate to much especially when you think about having Kiel forever on the Council. I’ll vote Gnashblade.
I’m a classic GW1 player, I hate the Charr and I hate rng chests, and reducing the price of bl keys for 4 weeks appeals to me in no way whatsoever. Therefore I will be voting Evon.
Keil is boring, her frac will be boring, and if it was perma wp reduction I’d be all for it but choosing a boring npc that will play a big role in the game (presumably) for a months worth of wp reduction isnt worth it. And besides, I dont see any Charr on the captains council, time for that to change. I may hate Charr but I hate boring more.
I’ll vote for whoever gets me to Cantha fastest. Might be Kiel since she has flying ships. Give me Cantha >.<
Well, as some people may have noticed there is a “kite maker” next to the guild banker in LA(likely in other cities as well but im too lazy to confirm). The merch is a guild armorer and mentions a “kite toy” , eh the following screenshot should explain it all. I looked on the forums, the wiki, and in the patch notes but there is no mention of what a kite toy is, I’m not sure what he’s talking about so if anyone could let me know that would be great.
doubt it will happen. The new stuff seems tailor-fit to guards with a silver/blue motif, and the hellfire seems tailor-fit for wars in CoF armor. I’m with you 100% because maybe I could do something with either of them if they were dyeable but don’t hold your breath.
I’m not really a fan of either, thats my personal opinion. We have more than enough flaming, molten, glowie, armor for the 12 yr olds. Radiant wouldnt be as bad if it wasnt tailor fit for guardians. . . I couldn’t see any of my characters using either set but thats just my preferences. Maybe if they released the other half of the armor set I could make a more educated decision but we’ll cross that bridge when(if) we get to it.
Well, I’m worried that since they’re talking about the Zephyr Sanctum “Flying away” labyrinthine cliffs will become inaccessible after the event. I really really hope that isnt the case, and to be honest I’d be more than a little put off if that were the case, especially since the zone looks really cool. I’m not counting on it being a permanent zone but I guess I’m hopeful that they’ll keep it open.
After seeing the screens, I really hope wherever this takes place is a perma zone. I highly doubt the Zephyr sanctum will be because the description for the model says “after it’s flown away” implying the sanctum may come back again but will likely not be permanent content/zone.
so thats what the quartz is gonna be used for.
I would love to see the Jade sea in the new engine. I can just imagine how long i would stand and stare at it. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Please bring Cantha back, if nothing else at least recreate the Canthan district in DR. It would undoubtedly mean a lot to the community.
Cantha.

ok so from what i gathered from the google translated version they intend on making guild “cities”? I just hope they dont use the same model they did with the custom arenas where you have to buy time tokens from the gem store, pretty sure thats how it will be though.
unfortunately i fear the korean overlords would lock them behind the impenetrable wall of rng. Unfortunate because I would actually pay for the skins if they were guaranteed not based on chance. I flat out refuse to pay for a chance at something.
That’s not how things work in civilized societies. If the right to ownership was determined by might alone the strong would own everything and the weak would own nothing. “You have a nice house. You’d better hope you can beat me in a fight, otherwise it’s going to be my house.”
Thats how the world has worked since the dawn of time. The conquered have no right to the lands they once owned. “Posession is 9/10’s of the law” as they say.
Pretty much to bolster the economy. If you had 3 light armored toons for example, you could buy one set of armor and one set of weapons for all three to share instead of buying a set for each. Since quite a number of people have alts (I have 8 level 80s for example) this would really affect the economy.
Yes, but then I think that items that can’t be bought (i.e. event rewards) should forever remain account bound. There is no money to sink, it’s strictly one per player.
they solved this problem in GW1 with the festival hat/costume maker. You go to them and buy one of the special event only items for any of your new characters. I could see it working for things like event only cosmetic items but anything that enhances play (like the ancient karka shell box, or the molten pick) would be impossible. I’m holding out hope for a mechanic similar to the festival hat maker but I’m not going to plan on it.
My Mesmer loves both of those weapons. Ive been waiting for a thin rapier style sword for ages, I’m really starting to hate how all MMO’s seem to think weapons have to be massive to look good.
with the release of the jade wep skins I was thinking the same thing (dont get me wrong I absolutely love the jade weps) but I have wanted a nice thin fast sword not a big unpractical sword. and the pistol is gorgeous as well, certainly gonna get a pair for my engi
I highly doubt it. At any rate, Ascalon apparently belonged to the charr first before the humans drove them out. I’m not sure humans have a “right” to it.
Anyway it seems Charr at this point in time are more successful than humans.
no one has a “right” to land, the charr had it then got driven out by the humans, thats just war. the humans got driven back out by the charr, that again is just war. In the lore the charr subjugated the grawl for the land now known as Ascalon. so if anyone has a “right” to the land it should be the Grawl, they’re a sentient race now too.
I see a few things i could do with pieces but as a whole there are things I’d hide, like all the helms for example.
A dev admitted to me they introduce this ‘temporary’ content, to keep achievement addicted players in the game. My friend only plays when there’s new achievements. Otherwise he has no motivation. Imo that’s stupid, and Anet shouldnt delete story mission because of that, but hey business is hard, and Anet atm is fighting against loosing customers. Hopefully they read your post, as it has the opposite effect on you.
I also agree with you. After all this time, i still havent defeated Zhaitan on the character that has every storymode but Zhaitan completed (i did him once on another char). So technically i havent finished storymode, and i never wanted to rush it. In guild wars 1 there was so much stuff to do you never ran out of fun. Found a mission you find fun/good story wise? Just repeat it. Gw2 is more cruel in this (story wise), but in other respects there’s more to do. What i dislike is the daily/monthly/living story ‘you must play now and waste time now to do it or you loose it’-mentality. Some of this stuff takes ages, and makes me question if my time couldnt have been spend better.
If they want to keep players they should bring back Cantha. . .(or Elona if you’re into that kind of thing).
It’s not hard to figure out by my name that I would really love to see Cantha back. I bought GW1 Proph. like 2 weeks after Factions launched and that login music made me buy the expansion the very next day. A lot of my firsts were in Cantha like my first level 20, my first 15plat armor set was luxon, My first 100% map completion was Cantha as well, I beat the story countless times, I spent sooooo much time wandering the Jade sea and sitting at a few picture perfect locales just to look at them. I spent thousands of hours in Cantha and just finished Proph, EotN, and NF out of obligation. Factions I finished because I loved it.
I’ve opened thousands of coffers to get those jade skins because I want to be reminded of Cantha in any way I can. If this is some sort of segway to visit Cantha say no more and just take my money. If it’s not in the cards because NCsoft wants to play pirates; fine, let me build Cantha myself.
I love Cantha, it is what kept me in GW1 for so long and the only reason I ever went back. Bring it back because omitting it because of “creative decisions” will cost Anet and NCsoft some of their most loyal players.
Here’s a thought, so just stick with me here. There are 6 dragons, 6 gods(including the former human Kormir)
*Zaithan=Grenth
Primordus=Balthazar
Kralkatorrik(sp?)=Lyssa
Jormag=Dwayna
Jungle Dragon=Melandru
Deep Sea Dragon= Kormir/ would have been Abbadon
Giant magical beings worshipped as gods, not really hard to see how it could work. Of course it’s not hard to imagine that each dragon could be each gods arch-nemesis.
I await the criticism for my abstract though.
Since the tickets will always be obtainable from dragon coffers, they will never be that exclusive unlike fused and sclerite weapon skins. There is probably going to be alot of supply left on tradingpost after the event, and coffers are likely to get more expensive. Still im a bit sad because I have one skin myself and I wanted it to be a limited time only like fused and sclerite. Sure is exclusive, but only when all supply runs out, which is gonna take forever. Maybe im wrong and the merchant stop selling the skins at some point or maybe they remove tickets from the coffers, atleast i hope so.
I don’t know about you but the RNG hates me like many other players, so if its exclusivity youre after i think you’ll be ok. Personally I kinda hate that attitude because if you want rare go get a legendary, let us poor people have our event skins.
Pretty sure Cantha is never going to happen unfortunately. Whether it be because of evil NCSoft overlords or horribly poor decision making by the devs, it just doesn’t seem like something they are working towards. I mean it has been almost a full year and we still haven’t heard from any of the other 4 dragons. At this pace if we do see cantha it will be in 2020 or later.
Unfortunately I fear you may be right, not only is elona to be released which tbh would probably happen first because its just past the crystal desert but the northern shiverpeaks, charr homelands, 3/4 of maguuma, the ring of fire, and the crystal desert itself need to be released. Say it takes 6 months (rather optimistic I know) for each new region were looking at probably 3 years just to have a finished tyria and thats only to get caught up with tyria in gw1, based on the map they intend on adding many more zones. I fear Cantha; my favorite continent will be forever lost behind all these pirate themed events.
I liked the SAB approach. You could get the items from a drop, or you could collect your baubles and buy them.
I’m sitting on thousands of the taffy which to me is completely useless.
I’m the exact same, it’s not like it would be hard to throw the skins in the jorbreaker merchants inventory. 10 jorbreakers each sounds perfectly fair to me.
I agree with the OP that it is a massive design flaw. I spent a couple hours last night farming the achievement on my lowest char (12-20) porting around the lowest population zone i could think of to get it. The one thing that bothered me most was that I was actually worried another player would come along and kill everything before i could tag them. That’s the polar opposite of what Anet said they were going to do since development day 1. I don’t quite know who got fired or quit since then but they really need to come back because this isn’t what they promised.
probably has something to do with that steampunk armor that people were pinging earlier today
Well, i just bought 500 coffers off the tp, opened them all and got the following:
996 candy
4 minis
77fireworks
7 cupcakes
8 dragonfish candy
11 buns
7 dragonrolls
4 charged potions
7 koi cakes
7 kralkawhatever chocolate
2 warm potions
and not a single ticket.
I’ve opened well over 1000 coffers as well as 15 rich coffers and have recieved a grand total of 0 tickets. yes, the RNG does hate me, very much.
I kind of hate you right now. Let’s just say the RNG really doesn’t like me. Back on topic: If they were tradeable that would be fantastic but if nothing else if I’m going to spend actual money they should be guaranteed. Anet may have a gambling problem and I’m not a fan of games of chance.
