Detailed answer: your build will work fine, but it would be so much better if you dropped 10 from domination, and put it in illusions or duelling. I think phantasmal haste is bugged, though, so illusions is only worth it if you use 15. There are certain places where you just dont need a greatsword, so traiting t wouldnt be as usefull ;).

Oh, and feel free to add me in game, and invite me to some fractalling some time :D its hard to find groups when people only want guardians and warriors :P

Whenever I use chaos storm, i automatically press chaos armor aswell, so 45 instead of just 5 :/.

Maybe it could be some sort of block that lasts a few seconds, but doesnt have a cast time (so you can do other stuff during it). When you block an attack, you make a blast finisher at your location, and grant retaliation and confusion.

Btw, we should make a thread that is a list of all our good skill/trait ideas and changes, so its easier to mention them when if we get dev attention. Even if we dont, it will still be fun, kinda :o

Does anyone else find it suspicious that they have us vote on what profession needs te most attention? I mean… Surely the balance team knows how much of a horrible state ele is in… Right?

Maybe this is yet another ‘smart’ trick, to make the lowly peasants (everything except mesmers and guardians) think thy are listening to our feedback, communicating with the community, and have an idea of what theyre doing.

Hmm… Looking at your cooldowns is a good indication of when you should retreat. If there’s too much pressure on you, and you know you won’t have any defenses left after you use one, thats a good time to run away :P.

1. summoned first duelist, it appeared behind me at 800 range
2. stood on the duelist, and made another… But it was farther away than 900, so it ran really close.
3. got near the close one, held E to turn and wait for Chauncey to get in position
4. tried to get the right cat form for 3 (yeah, really) minutes.
5. pressed alt + V (my screenshot keybind for steam) like crazy, and later picked a good one where they were shooting, and Chauncey did an idle anim :P
6. oh, and I used ctrl + 1 to “draw” my “weapon”.

Interesting, I’ve been in half a mind to try out the 10/20/10 spec recently – been back and forth between all the shatter trait allocations and not entirely settled on any at the moment.

One question – how the kitten do you get away with kitten-all condition removal? I’ve got so used to having mantra of resolve to pop off before a heal or something, I now struggle to play without it.

When I get overloaded by conditions:

1. Notice conditions
2. Run away tactical retreat

In solo Q I also use the resolve mantra, but in eotm and hotjoin I feel like people dont use alot ofconditions :P.

Summon a phantasmal ritualist that creates a circle of chaos around your target. On creation foes are immobilized, then the circle pulses cripple, vulnerability and 2 random short conditions per second. Allies gain a random boon per pulse. Lingers for 5 seconds. Foes that exit the circle are dazed.
Vulnerality: 1 stack, 15 seconds
Cripple: 1 second
Dazed: 1 second
Random conditions: weakness (3s), 3 vulnerability (5s), chilled (1s), poisoned (2s), crippled (1.5s), confusion (3 stacks, 3s), blind (2s).
Random boons: swiftness (2s), aegis (2s), protection (1s), vigor (3s), retaliation (3s).
Range (summon): 900
Range (phantasm attack): 600
Chaos circle radius: same as chaos storm
Chaos circle activation time: 1.5 (phantasm charges the attack before it happens, can be interupted, a bright purple light comes of the phantasm, similar to moa morph)

I guess you werent paying enough attention. I can relate, because i forget what happened every 2 weeks with my horrible memory.

Its pretty difficult to notice chemistry too, in a game like this. All they really did in the latest instance, was Kasmeer standing quite close to Jory, theres no body langauge, no facial expressions, just standing. I feel like the dialogue makes it _over_obvious, that they’re romantically involved, and kind of takes the fun off :/.

Then again… I learned long ago to never expect good voice acting or story/characters in gw2.

Well, there’s a cap per color per overflow, not per overflow.

For example: if an overflow has a cap of 300 players, then each color can have 100 players. If one color already has 100 players, but the others only 50, then other people cant “guest” to that full color. They get the world is full message, or in the case of edge of the mists, just go to a completely different overflow.

I’m not sure if I see the problem :/. There will always be people on the other side trying to cap things aswell, or just kill players.

one shot/ unavoidable mechanic when trying to cap a point.

it takes NO skill to knock someone off/pull them off the skyhammer…it just benefits the classes with more cc/more stability.

Simple answer: If you’re letting someone pull ro psh you off, it’s your own mistake. Dodge/stability/stunbreak… All professions have something to easily counterplay pulls and pushes. Also, theres like a 2 second delay before glasses shatter.

There’s no good argument you, or anyone else can make to see pulls as “unavoidable instakill”

Yesterday my server bought siegecrusher for some reason…

There were about 30 enemies camping in our homebase, and they capped it, but Siegecrusher managed to get in just before the cap repaired the gates… He started throwing all the aoes around, and split up the zerg, whereafter I and a couple of others picked some stragglers off.

Oh, and he was actually invulnerable… Fighting the invulnerable keep lord :P. He pretty much soloed the keep, with a bit of luck v.v

But yea, I’d probably never ever buy siegecrusher. Luck is jsut too unreliable.

If you want you can try sword and staff, but it doesnt really have enough damage for anything other than hotjoin.
Utilities: decoy, blink, mantra of resolve, nullfield, portal

Use sword and pistol off hand, or one of them and a greatsword.
Utilities: same kittenter, but with signet of illusions

Condi PU 20/20/30
Staff and scepter torch
Utilities are the same kittenter, but you could use veil aswell.

If theyre going to stick with this, atleast give it a 20% or so damage buff.

In pvp, swapping to sword on a berserker build is practically suicide, except in perfect situations. Its just too much risk, while it only removes like 15% of that warrior’s hp, that they regem back in several seconds.

And compared to others, mesmer has quite low dps in dungeons.

I wouldnt mind having the old CD, but new blur. Or the old blur and new CD, buth not both.

Or they can make the auto attack higher damage, but not up to par with warrior axe or something. Just higher, anything that makes being in melee less of a suicide mission will do.

I use X for dodging. I like keeping everything close to the wasd, and V is kinda out of reach.

I remember in the 2nd beta, i was doing a Morgans Spiral jumping puzzle race with the guild, I was in the top 3, but when I nearly made it to the finish… i double tapped and dodged of and fell to ny death x.x

Illusionary counter does up to 9K damagr over its duration, and that is in spvp, where stats are lower.

Its our most damaging skill by itself, really, it doesnt need a buff :P.

What exactly does 25 illusions change about it?

Oh, and its not a passive block. A passive block is the guardian virtue that gives them aegis every once in a while. Or in mmos where you automatically have a chance to block everything.

Illusionary counter is an active block, we have to qctivate it.

its actually a bug that it doesnt daze on every tick, its meant to daze 5 times once per pulse so probably a mistake that you bring this up, you also wouldnt get any daze if you block the first tick so this skill is totally bugged and not in favor of mesmers.

If this were true (it isnt), it would be bugged since release.

While the devs are busy fixing it, i know a simple bandaid you can apply to lessen the OPness:

• dont stand in the chaos storm

I honestly dont care what race my target is. If you learn builds and how to counter, its quite easy to predict, instead if react.

Especially on skyhammer against a guardian… See him swap to hammer? Keep a stunbreak or evade ready. I like Illusionary leap, and then burst after the swap, they just never see it coming.

Oh, and just go with whichever race you like best, not with the one that gives you an advantage when playing vs noobs :P

Trait 10/10/0/25/0, bring all weapons except torch.

Use feedback when you need reflects, disenchanter fir condi/boon stripping, blink for blinking, signet of illusions/defender when you need nothing else.

All our utilities are quite situational, so just make sure you know what they all are before you go dungeoning.

Thats all you really need for dungeons. You didnt specify what you wanted a build for, though, so all this information could mean nothing to you. Have to be a bit more specific :p

try your imagination, If you get stunned or dazed, it is much more harder to recover from such effects,
than being >feared< or >Immobilized<

Thats why Fear and Immobiliaze is affected by both ‘’type of condition removal effects’‘—> ’’Condition Removal’’abilities, ‘’Breaks Stun’’abilities

and on top of it,
they are affected both positively and negatively, like i mentioned before

Well eitherway, that is my opinion.

Stunbreak doesnt break immobilize. It breaks everything that makes you not able to use skills with cast times, so it breaks fear, but not immobilize.

Spear clones dodge, just saying. Not that anyone cares about underwater combat, me included :/.

And I think there would be an easy way to implement this: add a trait that grants “evasion” (evade all attacks) for 1 second whenever the Mesmer dodges , to illusions.

• there are already skills/traits that affects only illusions (phantasmal fury/signet of illusions)
• theres already an evasion buff, on the archers in CM

I dont see any reason to take this trait, though. Even if it were in 10 duelling.

It’s difficult enough for a lot of players to pick out the real mesmer. Doing this would be a major buff and in an area that most players would detest. It would ultimately likely lead to other changes we’d like even less (such as other ways of more easily telling clones apart).

This doesnt really make sense. Never have I ever eqrd of someone confusing phantasms with a player.

edit: rangers also apply protection to their pets whenever they dodge. Our new trait could be an exact copy, except blur on illusions.
