Just a brief reminder, that the bug is still in the game.
By the way, in your HoT cutscenes, the NPC (human females) — like throughout the game — run normaly. Maybe that is the reason, why you still did not notice/fix the bug, since your beloved cutscenes (-> removal of the female’s idle animation) are not affected.

With the last core patch, they will return. Then, if the add-on goes live, they are gone again. On purpose of course.

Maybe they should use the guadian’s autoattack. The druid throws the head end forward, but a beam shoots out instead of the wave. The druid’s animation has to be a bit slower of course.

By the way, the druid hold his staff “normaly” in the Trailer. I do not know. what got into ANet’s head, that staves have to be hold like hammers now. It’s just stupid and lazy.

The animation department finds the time to create a new animation for the engineer’s mortar or bomb kit, but cannot fix this bug. Why?

Wtf, ANet? Why is the druid holding his staff like a hammer, too?
He only uses staff animations and the auto-attack was taken from the elementalist’s Lightning Surge. There is not even a single animation, which was taken from the hammer, so there is no need, that the staff should not been hold like a staff.

But now you convinced me. Ever weapon should be wield like in the core game. Every staff has to be hold like a staff, no matter what the attack animations may look like.
I will write a report every day, till this kitten has finally been fixed.

Good thing, this thread is not about the idle animations.
Even though I posted this bug in there, too, the running animation should be considered as a separate topic. As I said before, there was an explanation for the idle animations, but not for the running animation. I will not post anything regarding the running animation bug in the above mentioned thread anymore. Out of respect, of course. ;-) But they still have my support.
So, I will upkeep this thread, which is about the human females running like males now problem. :-)

Glint audio bugged?

There are both grunts and spoken commentaries in the English version.

Then they are not in the right audio category.
With only Dialog Volume on, I only hear the grunts. My guess is, that the voiceovers are under the Effects Volume instead. It should be the other way round.

Ehm, are the Glint voiceovers bugged in the English version? I just hear some dragons grunts, while in the German version, there are some nicely spoken commentaries.

The fourth — Revenant: Legend’s voiceovers:
The revenant’s legend’s voiceovers play too rarely. At least in the german versions, the voiceovers are quite good, but there is only a little chance to actually hear them.

So, please, increase the frequency so it will be equal with elementalist’s attunement shouts or mesmer’s mantras.

Our sound team did an awesome job with the herald sounds, they are slightly different the more facets that are active.

I am surprised they had the time, since they should be busy to clear the Warhorn’s sound. ;-)

If it’s really the old “alarm bell” sound bug, there is a work around. Just reduce the audio quality to fast.

Feast not lasting one hour

The Feast of Truffle Steak is only lasting 30 minutes. Since ten plates are needed to craft the food, it should apply an one hour buff like any other feast.
While you are at it, you better examine every banquet food, if it is applying the correct one hour long buff.

By the way, can you rewrite the tooltip, so it will also shows the buff, the food is actually giving?

They said, they wanted to change the warhorn’s sound. I believe this is the new one.
It’s anoying as hell in WvW, since the new one is much deeper.

I wonder, if the developers are even aware of this inconsistency/bug of the running animation. NPC’s still using the right one? PC’s using a wrong one, but only if out of combat?
I mean, there was an explanation, why ANet had to change the necromancer’s axe animaton or had to remove the females idle animations. But this one never had an official statement. Because of this, I still think, it’s just a bug, but no one in power seems to care about it.
So, please, fix at least this one!

The necromancer’s axe animation was taken from the warrior’s axe auto-attack chain, which wasn’t a bad idea, since the warrior’s chain is: one hit -> two hits -> three hits. And since the necromacer’s auto-attack always was two hits, it was obvious to use a part from the warrior’s animation. (Because of this, I could make this beautiful recordings ;-D)
The new animation was taken from skills like Scorpion Wire or Spectral Grasp. Of course they do not fit as a weapon’s attack animation.

Ice elemental audio glitch

I remember reporting this some time ago, but i haven’t noticed it in a while, so it may have been fixed and then broken again.

Basically, the audio is completely wrong for ice elemental NPCs ice lance skill – it plays what sounds like the frostbrood norn death audio.

Long time ago, they changed the ice elemental’s guttural audio pool (Earth elementals are still using the original one. Fire elementals use the harpy’s guttural sounds.) towards the jotun’s/centaur’s guttural audio pool (Most frostbrood Norn are using it now, too. Although they used the Norn’s guttural audio pool before.). So, if you see an ice elemental, you will hear a “Noooooo!” at the moment. This audio line inappropriate of course.

Since you changed or will change some attacks of the Revenant, please remember to fix the animations. While the staff-hammer-stance may still be debatable (I still think, it should become the staff stance.), the sword auto attack chain and the mace AA really need to be fixed/replaced with the suggested ones.

In Sacred 2 there has an option been implemented to determine how frequent commentaries shall be played.
Maybe, it’s worth a try to get such an option, too. Since I like the voice over and do not want them to mute my characters.

What the f**k?
Just played Living Story, “Gates of Maguuma”, after a long time. Marjory — still using her Axe/Dagger build in this one — uses the “old” axe animation. Why is she allowed to use it? Because she cannot/will not exploit it? If she still can use the animation, why not for us, too?

Another powerful argument, that it will be possible to change the staff stance to it’s original one, while maintaining the attack animations.
The Princess Doll uses the staff’s stance for her Princess Wand, but performs the Necromancer’s scepter attack. Necromancers on the other hand, use their one-handed weapon stance to perform the attack (-> here & here). They both harmonise and do not bug out, like the Revenant’s staff animations.

As said before: It would have been a nice idea to use the hammer stance on staves, if Revenants would not have any access to it. But they can use a hammer already. So, please, give Revenants the opportunity to gain access to the staff’s running and — more important — to the staff’s idle animations.

In my opinion, the auto-attack animations of the greatsword are in a good place.
On females it looks a bit strange, but the last blow does not seem so unrealistic. Speaking from the stance, a blow from below can be deadly, too.
The auto-attack on female Norn may be unrealistic, but indicates the power of their race. And it harmonises with the male counterpart, who is wielding his greatsword with only one hand.

The German voice overs are good and have power. Only our Charr women have been pitched deeper than in her usual/older voice over work.

By this thread I want to take a closer look a the attack animations of the new Elite Specialisations and the Revenant.

Most of the attack/weapon animations are good and cool. But almost all auto-attack animations have to be redone or rather be replaced.


The Reaper’s greatsword:

The auto-attack is very slow. First two movements are the normal greatswords moves and the last one resembles Ranger’s Maul.
Problem: An auto-attack needs to be fluent, but the current one bugs out a bit (especially on Norn).
Suggestion: Since the auto-attack needs to be slower than a normal one (Because of the damage, that’s what you guys said.), why do you not use the Ranger’s auto-attack animation? And keep the icy effect of course. It’s a fluent animation AND only been used by Rangers for now.
That way you will have Guardians and Warriors using one animation, and Rangers and Reapers using another animation. At least it will not bug out anymore.
But leave the Reaper’s Shroud’s auto-attack where it is. By this, Necromancer can have two greatsword auto-attack animations.

By the way: Why do Reapers hold their scythe like a hammer but use the greatsword attack animations? XD


The Revenant:

Mace & Sword:
As a posted before, almost every auto-attack of the Revenant needs to be replaced, since they all bug out.
Problem: The mace’s auto-attack bugs out (especially while running) and the sword’s auto-attack bugs out like hell.
Suggestion:: Please, use the normal working animations for the mace and the one-handed sword. I know, you guys wanted to do something special, but please, not for the auto-attacks. The other skills look cool and the new ones look well done. But please, please! The auto-attacks have to stay normal and more important: stay fluent.

Staff:
I also politely ask you, to change the way the Revenant is holding his staff. He holds it like a hammer, but he can already use a hammer. Also, the way the staves are hold and the attack animations do not harmonise all of the time.
Suggestion: Just use the normal staff’s running and idle animations. For both the Elementalist’s attack animations and the Guardian’s attack animations, the normal way a staff is been hold already works out very well. And do not forget, that Mesmer’s are also holding their greatsword normaly, but do have a completely different attack animation in contrast to a Guardian/Warrior/Ranger/Reaper. But it still harmonises perfectly.

I also want my future Asuran Revenant to do the cool staff spinning idle animation.

The Dragonhunter’s bow, the Tempest’s warhorn, and the Chronomancer’s shield. They all do work well and do not have to be altered.

Also keep in mind please, that only the auto-attacks need to be replaced. All the other animations do work and look cool.

If you do not like the voice over, change the race and/or gender, or mute the speech volume, but do not demand to remove well spoken audio lines from our characters. By the way, it will not be possible, to differ between a minion triggered by skill or by trait. A minion is a minion.

My, my. Changing or removing ingame animations for the worse, is really ArenaNet’s strength.

The list:
First they changed/bugged the female running animation.
Then they broke the warriors’ sword auto-attack chain.
Then they removed the Norn males’ bow animation, so they have to use the females’ shoot animation now (looks good by the way (-.-)).
Then they changed the Norn males’ GS animation (although the auto-attack (ranger) looks much cooler now), but the throw animation has been screwed up completely.
Then they removed the Human females’ idle animations.
Then they changed the necromancers’ axe animation.


Not to forget the other buggy or odd things we have since the release, like Asura and Charr not switching between their two staff animations on mesmers, necromancers, or elementalists (if not in fire attunement).
Or Norn females using the Human females’ running animation, if holding a main-hand pistol or a hammer.
Or the bugged “Wave of Wrath” on Human females.

And I am afraid that the list will get even longer by the time.

What I’m trying to say is that I do not think, they will ever admit, that all these changes were uncalled by the community and have to be reversed.

The Corruptions’ self-applied conditions (nondamaging) still use the own condition duration.
And why do you not give all Corruptions fix duriation for all self-applied conditions? Didn’t you change the Revenant’s skills to have fix self-applied durations? Why not for Necromancers, too? We even get two conditions for just one skill.

The attunement shouts have been fixed. Good work.
But the listed shouts and the (Death) Shroud still do not work as they should or have.

To be honest, I am pretty glad these animations are gone. I found them annoying as hell. Seeing females in heavy or even medium armor doing these … things … it just broke my immersion – big time. I didn’t even wanted to see the animations on my light armor character, because it doesn’t fit her one single bit. She is a tough girl, not some sort of a … chicken, scratching with her feet to find some corn in the sand … blagh …

But this is, what it is/was to play a Human female. It comes with the race and gender — like the voice over. If you are happy, that you character is just brushing its hair constantly, you can play a Norn female. If you love to run on four-legs, you play a Charr. You love to see your character jumping around in combat, play an Asura.

We do not know till yet and so does A-Net.
With the introduction of weapon swap, they now have to make two underwater weapons. And because of the revenant’s speciality, they do have to make all utility skills to work underwater, since they are determined by the chosen legend and cannot freely be picked.
Just give them more time. When HoT is going to be released, the underwater combat will be available.
