Lake Doric Accidentally Leaked?

They had us pay for shared slots but they are eating them up with portal scrolls. They need to replace those portal scrolls with something that pops up a menu of destinations.

This, so much. I am truly hoping for a scroll compendium of sorts, because at this pace it’s getting ridiculous.

On-topic: A more peaceful and quiet map would be nice for a change. Although, for the next big expansion, I am rooting for Cantha and/or Elona/Vabbi to be re-introduced into the game.

that’s strange, I have yet to buy a single portal scroll, it’s almost like they’re not even slightly useful at all

Yes, I know. But it can’t be all the guild halls. So I was wondering what people do with all the coins. Uses for them are still limited if I look at the list in the Wiki.

The specialisation weapon collections require mystic weapons for example

Amaimon.7823

Why has the price increased so much anyway? All the weapon recipes from the forge were in the game from the beginning. The only thing that’s eating mystic coins is the guild hall. But those upgrades should be done by done in most guilds or won’t ever be. So I’m curious where all the coins are going.

Or is it just that the supply was reduced greatly? I don’t really remember if there were other ways to get them years ago.

More sinks. Not more income. Relatively less income because more people hoard.

It’s a cycle. Increased value is increased hoarding. Increased hoarding is increased value. It’s self up regulating

Trust me, I want to. As soon as I get enough money to buy GW1 (its like $45 with all expansions?) I’m planning on buying it and playing through it. But that just hasn’t been an option lately. Rent, food, and school take priority

Nah, if the full box is 14 euros here. I doubt any price over 25 dollars is fair. The game was hardly that expensive on release

I was lucky enough to get mine on steam as a daily deal.

Actually should reinstall it, pretty sure I’ve hit a couple of birthdays, might have enough minis for some HOM points.

But as to the OP, <Insert GW1 mission here> has always been in pretty high demand, whether it’s Glint’s Lair, Hell’s Precipice, Imperial Sanctum, Unwaking Waters (my personal choice, simply for the “Holy kitten that looks kitten beautiful” factor it would have) Gate of Madness, Curse of the Nornbear, A Time for Heroes (i.e. Great Destroyer) or whatever. Pretty sure Anet knows about it, hopefully one or two are in the pipe as either a part of the Arkk story they’re going with or something they plan afterwards.

Disappointed in Trahearne's Fate

Amaimon.7823

I think it’s okay.

The pact fell apart, and the death of the marshal is a good token to go back to step and completely redesign your military. If Marshal trahearne survived, it would be harder to make a believable reorganization within the pact. Plus sometimes good guys gotta die so you don’t get the ‘oh, he’s the hero, he will survive’ sentiment. Now that Trahearne and Eir are dead, no main character is save anymore, meaning you will take the next elder dragon a little more seriously before they cut down more of your friends.

TBH, I actually pictured Logan’s death in HoT, but that didn’t happen. Instead we have a blind zojja and comatose logan now, so that might be interesting.

On a side note, if you’re worried about spoilers you can type [spoiler!] Text [/spoiler!]
or

[spoiler!]
Text
[/spoiler!]

to hide the text (minus the exclamation marks) and it would look like this

or like this

PS, we have a memorial for many interesting characters of GW1 and GW2 in our guild hall, but a true memorial for trahearne seems conflicting, on one side, he’s the marshall, so I think there maybe should be a gallery of statues of marshals somewhere in LA, but on the other hand, sylvari don’t funeral customs or rites, they believe in the dream, and that life is just a fleeting moment between the dreams. So if they die, all value of the mortal shell disapears, While there’s not a clear answer, I always believed that it’s okay to abandon sylvari corpses as they don’t value their mortal shells (at least in life-death relations)

Question about Salvage-o-Matics

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

Short story: you’ll probably save money if you salvage often enough. Check you “Agent of Entropy” achievement and check that you are managing at least 100-200 repeats per year

I use Copper-fed on masterwork and below.
Cost per use is 3 copper. Silver-fed costs 60 copper per use, but controlled tests show that it yields the same amount of the same mats; it certainly doesn’t offer 57 copper worth of benefits.

I use master’s kit/mystic kit (same as silver-fed) on rares, because they have a significantly higher drop for exotics.

Exotics I almost always sell, unless they have a high-value rune/sigil (in which case, I’d use BL Kits, for the 100% chance of getting it).

The copper-fed is 800 gems, which will run you about 200 gold right now (if converting from coin). Saving 57 copper/use, it would take you upwards of 35,000 salvages to break even. That sounds like a lot (and it is), but that’s about how much I salvage per year. (Caveat: I do a lot of testing and salvaging that most people don’t.)

To see how much you do, look up your “Agent of Entropy” stats. You’ve salvaged 200 times for each ‘repeat’. Any number above 100-200 repeats/year means you’ll probably spend a lot less with copper-fed, as long as you keep playing about the same amount each year for a while.

No. It was calculated well on release date that the salvage o matics will never break even with regular kits. Its the price for convenience of never running out, as well as it only taking one inventory slot. But if copper per salvage is considered, salvage o matics are the most expensive and no amount of salvages will ever break it even. And thats the price for using it. Not counting for the gems you pay prior to its use

Salvage pit is really weird, because it’s the only adventure I know that gets harder with more people.

The area should boot people who die.

That’s a good idea. If you die inside it would teleport your corpse outside the pit, up to the spot where you enter the pit. This would make it easier for other players to revive you so you don’t have a long walk back.

Some of them might not be griefing though. Some players have a habit of not waypointing when dead because they hope someone will revive them. Often times it’s because you have a long walk to get back to where you were when you died. But in the salvage pit adventure, reviving dead players isn’t an option because you’ll get killed yourself and/or get a lousy score and have to start over. Though it is possible some players didn’t waypoint on purpose because it interferes with others doing the adventure.

Normally, I’d agree with you. But in this case there were more than 10 people lying in a nice circle so at least half the salvage wasnt accessible. That cant be coincidence

They are stats, or stat combination. And they are called a prefix or suffix in the name of the item depending on the stat and added rune/sigil.

Those names are the only ones Ive ever seen.

Prefix: berserker,
Stat combination: POWER, precision, ferocity.
Suffix: of the berserker (rune/sigil of the berserker)

99.99999% of the time people use those terms. At least on the wiki

Today I noticed in the Salvage Pit in Verdant Brink there are still people trying to find ways to active grief people (what they stand to gain is completely beyond me)
But today the daily was do the salvage pit, so a group of what like 10 people went in, died, so their corpses, and thus ‘resurrect’ action would overlap with wuite a lot of salvage making it impossible to score higher than just low in silver without extensively targeting the salvage for which you don’t have much time because you’re busy avoiding all the stuff.

Now, this isn’t much of a big deal, I can move to another map (since they were 10-12 people they might be more organised, though) or just accept I got the daily without gold, but just for the sake that griefing is still possible. but maybe it’s a good eye-opener that maybe people who die on adventure grounds should be uninteractable for people who partake in the adventure, and those who die while partaking automatically get warped back

[SUGGESTION] Mistforged weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

I don’t see an easy or obvious solution to this. The devs acknowledge that we aren’t likely to have WvW tournaments any time soon (for a variety of reasons; short version: it burned people out). In effect, as things stand, no one can get any more.

However, these skins were designed as exclusive tournament rewards (with winners having access to them more easily than losers). That leaves ANet with limited choices:

  • Give up on the idea that these are special rewards and just make them available through a generic method: badges of honor, reward tracks, proofs of heroics, etc.
  • Invent a new ‘mode’ in which they can be obtained.
  • Do nothing, their current choice.

here’s an idea
A collection: (per weapon)
Buy a " Memory of the ‘Weapon’ " for an X amount of badges of honor.
Then you need to get a variety of things for each weapon.

Specific:
#Kill 50 players with the same weapon type (or more, whatever’s fair)
#Win a round on each of the three borderlands, and the main battleground (just like Dragon’s Stand you get one randomly depending on unlocked collections)

Aspecific:
Earn Hold tokens everytime you take a keep (2 for a castle)
Earn Supply tokens everyime you kill a dolyak or (2) for an escort
some more specific tokens
>> buy collection specific memories using the tokens

Final reward > a pale weapon > pale weapon earns points everytime you’re wielding it when you kill players, kill lords, take castles, etc etc, after 500 points or so it becomes a mistforged weapon.

A collection like this would require a player to actively contibute in wvw, and actually win a bit, too. plus the shear amount of tokens would convert the value to time

(that, and we can give them a different color so you can when a mistforged weapon is collection or competitively earned)

Ghe reason i accepted this theory is because the nightmare doesnt have the tablet, but they have a sheer hatred for servitude, claiming the ED is worse than ilk if the pale tree, meaning they too will defy thoughts of servitude as a replacement for ventaris tablet. Guild halls, elite specs, and hot maps. Its advertised as such. While we can discuss if its fair or not, access to ls3 is not listed on the purchase page.

Place the seed of the pale tree in orr….

Neat idea, but it’s somewhat impossible. Orr didn’t rise from the sea until 1219 AE. Ventari died near the fledgling Pale Tree in 1180 AE.
_

This actually leads me to an interesting AU that I was banding about. What if Ventari didn’t die near the Pale Tree and didn’t leave the tablet?

The Pale Tree would have become Mordremoth’s minion, and started pumping out Sylvari much more like the Mordrem. Rata Sum and the humans would have had EVEN MORE dragon minions on their doorstep. In the case of the humans, I think that would spell Kryta’s doom.

The Pact, which was formed under the auspices of the Sylvari, would never have formed without someone the three Orders all came to trust. And without Trahearne, would anyone have noticed the oncoming invasion of Claw Island and Lion’s Arch?

Orr wasn’t completely sunken, just mostly, Livia went there to find the scepter of Orr to my understanding. Although the area was likely still full of Orrian undead making it an unlikely place for a bunch of passivists to go.

I find it incredibly unlikely that Ventari and his tablet is what kept the pale tree from becoming a blighting tree. Her freedom had to have come from elsewhere, otherwise we could reason with Dragon minions, but this is not the case. Though the Tablet likely had a huge impact on the Pale Tree’s outlook on the world and It would be interesting to know if she might have been more violent without Ventari’s influence.

Didnt we find the scepter of orr already in gw1? And then it got lost with the Lich kn the Ember Island chain. I did hear livia git it now, but i dont think it ever found its way back to orr, hardly considering it sank i doubt anyone would go there

I’d much rather have a battle against Abaddon at the Gates of Heaven, smiting him into the ocean, turning it into the desolation of Elona seems a lot more fun to me

I haven’t played GW1 so I don’t know a thing about Abaddon. So this doesn’t appeal that much to me outside of it being a pretty epic fight. However, such a fight is much better suited to either a Dungeon or a Raid than a fractal imo. A dungeon would allow Anet to really put much more lore into this, and I think it would be a failure without lore being baked in. A Raid would allow for the truly epic fights that fighting a God would necessitate. I just don’t think a fractal could do this justice unless it was exclusively a lvl 100 challenge mote

We wont get dungeons anymore as they discontinued the team working on it. Onntheir end, its dead.
But I agree, since abaddon is a god, maybe a raid is more suitable.

But if I may be so rude. It really pays off to play nightfall to better understand the role of the gods in this game, eye of the north for the bloodstones, and Prophecies to understand better the relations between charr and humans, the white mantle and the Ember Island Chains. Its not necessary, of course, but so much character/lore depth is prevalent if you did. Factions is nice, but hardly anything carried over, other than Revenant memory of Shiro

Cost of shared inventory slots

I’d say, the point of these bags was more for people who had a lot of characters and kept losing important stuff.
When you only have 5 characters and you swap an item between them, thats a scroll of 2 minutes, but if you have 20 characters, searching all their inventories becomes a pain. Then placing those items in a shared bag becomes a lot more valuable.

I agree that 10 euros for a single bag sounds like a lot, but in retrospect, it’s only like 20 euros for 3, and it keeps going down. it’s virtually a bag with slots as many as characters you have. if you have 20 characters, it’s 1 slot times 20

Any profession that can apply stealth (or gain it from others for that matter) can stomp from stealth.

yea, but thieves appear to do it the most, I don’t see a lot of other classes use stealth much in pvp. the problem just is, as a warrior you can knock an enemy down and interupt their stomp, but it only works if you can target them. the guardian can do a pulse that knocks everyone back without the need of targetting

The tokens need to be such that allignment is there to the current rewards, so you can’t get 100 mystic coins a month or such, but like, if you don’t need ToK, maybe get 5-10 more laurels, or 1-5 more coins

Well, at least there will still be quaggan until bubbles, the underwater starfish dragon is destroyed, which we can really, really hope takes them with it.

They are, after all, the water equivalent of the sylvari, but without players of the race, we might get to purge them entirely as they so richly deserve…

Quaggan can’t be the underwater of Sylvari. Quaggan can be corrupted. Which reminds me, how does Jormag corrupt quaggan. Do they first become sons of Svanir? Quaggan sons of Svanir would be… interesting.

Any ways, I don’t think Lazarus will survive the next expansion.

The sons of svanir arent corrupted yet. Theyre normal, people whomwillingly follow the dragons path. When they go to the north the Shamans of Hail, Snow and Frost turn the, into icebrood. At that point they become dumbvux

Are people really that helpless or are they too clouded to open the wiki or google it? It’s more work to begin a new thread than google it to find out within about 1 or 2 minutes how this map works.

You are both right and wrong;
I noticed the current generation is rather.. lazy.. or rather, they don’t seem able to think beyond their position. “if anet (or any game maker for that matter) doesn’t spoonfeed the information, it’s become inconceivable for the average gamer to know about it”

Now, sure, some hiccups were made to find the balance, a good example is the second Castlevania game (ever) where you need to have a flute and crouch in a certain spot for 15 seconds without anyone ingame telling you that, not even slightly hinting. That was a clear overreaction of leaving stuff to players to figure out.
But now you have the exact opposite, players apparantly enter an empty map, but no one bothers to look for a full map. They don’t open the looking for group tool to find or ask for another map.

I agree that anets mapping system is rather.. well.. just bad, it’s bad okay. Map travelling always seems to prioritize making new empty, dead maps. But we have the tools to correct anets lazyness of correcting this flaw, but if you don’t use those tools.. well, you’re just as lazy.

Amaimon.7823

My bad. By normal humans I meant not yet having magic. And wasn’t the demonic transformation a result of being locked into the realm of madness (foundry of failed creations at the time)

Firstly, realm of torment – and it contained the foundry of failed creations during gw1’s time, but the place may not have existed during the time of the Exodus (the realm of torment also has far more than just the foundry of failed creations).

And the demonic transformation was during that war before the Exodus – Abaddon even created the Horde of Darkness out of some of those transformed humans.

They had magic at the time, as the war happened after Abaddon’s gift of magic. Basically, the timeline as best we know is:

  1. Multiple gods are granting magic in small doses over a long period of time (implication/personal interpretation is that the scripture events include these small doses).
  2. Abaddon grants magic in a huge dose.
  3. Margonites, already having Abaddon as their patron god, go a bit overzealous and deface Temple of the Six.
  4. Forgotten enact retribution and wage war with the Margonites.
  5. Around this time (may be before, during, or slightly after the above two points), wars occur elsewhere, a city called Jumah is under siege with King Doric as witness during his trek to Arah, where he pleads to three of the Six Gods in Arah.
  6. Abaddon hears Jadoth’s plea, and destroys a nearby Forgotten fleet and turns Jadoth into the demonic entity most Margonites would become.
  7. Abaddon begins turning more Margonites into demonic entities.
  8. Around this time (may be before, during, or slightly after the above two points), the Five Gods restrict magic again and sunder the Bloodstone (this final part may occur later on, we’re not sure).
  9. The other Five Gods see Abaddon’s interactions and reacts violently.
  10. Abaddon lays siege to the Gates of Heaven with the Horde of Darkness.
  11. Abaddon is bested by the Five Gods and sent to the Realm of Torment, along with the Margonites transformed already. There are still some Margonites remaining as humans, and they move to the Crystal Desert to build towers out of their ships at Thirsty River, led by King Khimaar.

On an aside, we know that there was a small amount of magic in the world even before the Six Gods began gifting it in small doses, because the Elder Dragons naturally leaked magic out while hibernating and they had been hibernating for a few thousand years already. It just was not a commonplace thing – rare enough for magic to be considered a creation from the gods.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks

I still dont get how we can have theee pages of discussing dailies when literally all it is is: gathering some resources in one area, talk to a vista, and do one chore that takes 1-2 minutes like a blue wins pvp round or capping a ruin in wvw

Because I honestly believe it’s just people who wish to complain.

I remember when dailies were regional exactly how the OP says they ‘should be’ and some complained about that. I mean you had people complain when Anet gave everyone a free shared inventory slot.

Anet knows not everyone is going to like every daily. That’s why there is 4 from each type of game play to choose from and only 3 from any combination needs to be done to get the daily meta as you point out. I’m not so sure what they could do to please some people.

How can you not like the free shared slot?
Its nothing but a useful thing. And if you dont want to use it, drag it to the bottom and ignore it. Honestly, people would complain over anything these days.. I miss the dark ages, that’d give people something to complain about

Mordremoth slays Lazarus and frees the sylvari. Mordremoth rules Tyria for a thousand generations and everyone lives happily ever after. Except the humans, charr, norn, and asura, since they’re all dead.

There will still be quaggan.

How is still an option now. Even if the devs get REALLY drumk, mawdrey’s already dead.
And kindly find yourself in the nearest realm of torment before you quaggans into a sofisticated discussion again. I will forever deny they even exist

A lot of season 1 has been rolled out in the form of fractals, which is a nice compromise.

Fractals inherite locations, bosses, but not the story part. You can’t tell what is the story behind nightmare tower on dredge facility if you just play fractals. For the new player it is just like: “What are Rox and Braham doing here? Is it a 6-meter tall metal charr and a dredge Gurren-Lagann? Why is there a tree growing from a glowy krait? Whats happening?!” And thats a pity.

That’s exactly the problem, you go from Killing zhaitan straight to investigating Scarlet’s hut in the Dry Top with people you’ve never ever seen before

Warrior is and will always remain to be the best everything.
Dependable. Good solo and team play. Agile. Adaptable. Anyone who days warrior isn’t the best for anything is straight up lying.

Warriors rule the world. Always have. Always will

I don’t think so, that we will see the situations like this in LS3, maybe in the next expansion or LS4. Because we really need Lazarus. I think, that it will happen after Kralkatorrik’s death, when Aurene will grow very powerful and Lazarus as well oh and Deep Sea Dragon too. I think, that he will turn into evil character, but not yet. I believe on his good intentions now, we will see what will happen in the next episodes or Living Stories.

Yes, but I meant not as ls3. But gw2 story in whole. The final finish line where all ls’s and expansions come together

It started with the Margonites attacking the holy sites of other gods in retaliation for magic being weakened, and then the Forgotten retaliated with extreme force against the Margonites… and then Abaddon weighed in to rescue the Margonites. It’s not particularly clear what exactly happened after that, but it probably became a case of Abaddon feeling that he was committed and might as well try…

Is this order right? I thought the margonites were normal humans UNTIL the forgotten hunted them down and abaddon gave them the magic. The order you describe makes it sound like the margonites already had magic before abaddon broke the seal on the bloodstones.

They were called Margonites before they were turned into the demonic entities. Margonites were a human nationality at the time they defaced the Temple of the Six and the Forgotten retaliated with war.

Abaddon “weighing in to rescue” the Margonites is when he turned them into demonic entities.[/quote]

My bad. By normal humans I meant not yet having magic. And wasn’t the demonic transformation a result of being locked into the realm of madness (foundry of failed creations at the time)

I brought up Lazarus because the stage is currently being set for him to play a very big role in whatever’s gonna happen to all the magic

In such a scenario, would it be propable that Abaddon drains the magic that the dragon releases, becoming a god-elderdragon himself? (I always thought it was abaddon versus the pantheon, I’m gonna have to look up a source if it was only two gods. But abaddon was known to be the most intelligent or strategically apt god, would he war against a full pantheon if he wasn’t confident he could win?)

As for Lazarus, I don’t think he would exist (in his current state) if abaddon became and maintained a godlike presence on tyria.
