I must say, I don’t like this change. Sure a booster isn’t the best roll, but a booster is still 10 times better and more useful than a ToT bag or a wintersday gift. And with the Lunar patch we will most likely get a Lucky Red Envelope instead, which contains what? a sellable trophy and some consumable luck.
Abaddon > was stronger and more entelligent than the other 5 gods combined. It was only the brute force of Balthazar combined with the others that made the war a stalemate until abaddon made a small slipup and he got imprisoned for all eternity.
WHAT IF ABADDON DIDN"T MAKE THE ONE LITTLE SLIP UP AND BEAT THE OTHER FIVE
Now, we’ve hardly crossed the start, but I’m already speculating what the finish line would look like.
My thought is something along the line of:
>All elder dragons are defeated, and their powers are usurped some by Aurene, but mostly by Lazarus.
>Lazarus knows there must be an elder dragon and intended to be the role.
>Lazarus realizes the world has been in chaos for too long it needs all races working together to stop a centralized evil so they can start with a clean sheet, but united.
>Lazarus becomes the necessary evil, intentionally making everyone hate him as the most demi-evil thing ever to walk the earth, so he could die in battle with Aurene and have Aurene become to the true elder dragon
>Lazarus dies, taking the concept of villainy with him, making Aurene the ultimate good.
Possible, or even plausible?
Done a bit of searching and I haven’t found anything that answers this question yet. In short, how do I find out the name of a song playing in game? I’ve tried searching for a couple I like based on the location they play in, and that works for some songs, but the names of others elude me. Any help would be appreciated.
Many songs are fixed to their location, so you can just type the place. The more specific, the better. Do you happen to remember where you were when you heard the desired music?
I heard them in Diessa Plateau for sure and I think Blazeridge Steppes and Iron Marches. It’s a softer song with harp and a choir, it sounds very LotR.
My first guess would be the Ashford Abbey theme which plays in a lot of ascalonian areas
So, long story short, you’re frustrated by the course but don’t want to follow another course to the same reward. Then what do you expect of us here?
We all love and miss ls1. But anet does not seem to care enough about it to remake it. They said they don’t have the resources. Then we say we won’t mind paying a few gems for it. But coin never seems to hit them
Necromancers aren’t revered in Krytan or Ascalonian society. They’re grudgingly accepted and often outright feared by the more ignorant, either out of suspicion of being linked to the Risen or simply out of superstitious fear of dark magic. However, they’re accepted in part because they’re linked to Grenth, and because those in power recognise that the usefulness of necromancers outweighs the risk of one going rogue. Ghosts of Ascalon has a discussion of some of this, but there’s also evidence of anti-necro prejudice in GW1, and I think there is an ambient discussion or two around Kryta indicating that many humans there have a less than flattering view of necromancers.
The average necromancer is shunned, perhaps, but the onces that take care of the final rites for humans are revered though, that’s been mentioned several times. Its because the final rites are a very important part in the griefing process of humans, and not having had those is considered a big failure (or however you want to call it). But then again, since the necromancers in charge of these rites are revered while the freelance necromancer is shunned, maybe they’re not considered necromancers by the common folk, but more something along the line of priest or ritualist.
Do note, revering and not being scared of are not mutually exclusive. It’s possible to hold great respect for someone, but still be scared of them because you don’t understand how their work works
Also guys, as has been said countless times before, if you don’t like the event completer daily, do a different one. There are LOTS to choose from and you only need to complete three.
This is like getting angry because you don’t like that a restaurant gave you ketchup with your fries. Don’t eat the ketchup, have ranch instead and get on with your life. Problem solved.
If you don’t like a specific type of content that’s in the game (event completer dailies) then the answer for you is quite simple: pick a different daily and get on with your life. Don’t ruin it for everyone else just because you don’t want to participate.
sadly, we’ve been saying that for years.. no one cares, they prefer to let everyone know how ketchup ruined their fries
Its not that i dont like them quaggans but i despise them.
They talk toooOoOo SloooOoow
It freaking annoying , but hey i like hating on them so im glad they are in game.
FooooooOOOOOOoooooOOOOOOO
CheeeEeeeef explaaaaiiiiiineneeed what fooooOOOOOooood he made uuuUUUUuuus
FoooOOOOoood was coooOOOOoooold by time heeeeEEEE was doOOOooone
i just hope that the next one doesn’t have a stupid pre-quest just to get to the new area, i still can’t get to the ice one because the third test is bugged.
You don’t have to do LWS3 story in order. You can start the third story chapter from the hero panel and skip the first and second chapter entirely, which means you wouldn’t have to deal with the bugged aurene mission
i did, i still need to do the stupid tests i absolutely hate to do, just try it and you’ll see.
if they want to add a new area make it accessible from the get go, i don’t want to do a stupid quest just to access it….
Comment number 293746 “i dont want to play to the game, I just want the rewards”
Why are there so many of these? i mean, when I was a kid, and still most games now, it was always that if you didnt want to domsomething, well, tough luck, you were locked out of the game. Stuck with a minigame in zelda? Forever out. Stuck with a sliding level in rayman? Forever out. Not enough health potions to kill that one boss in oblivion? Forever out.
Did gw2 really make gamers lazy?
Trahearne is an example of a very powerful necromancer. True their bodies arent fit for necromancy, at oeast I havent seen any resurrected foliage yet. But plants dont neceissarily negate death. I mean, plants are just organic matter, too. They die, wilter. Even though its not shown ingame, Inthink you can make a dead oakheart.
And youre confusing one thing. The undead of Orr are risen. They are fundamentally different from normal undead because theyre corrupted with dragon magic. Sylvari are immune not because theyre plants but because theyre mordrem. Sylvari are not just made from plant magic. Theyre born from the pale tree, which is just a blighting tree thats not under mordremoth’s command.
Also, necromancy has a very light tone in this universe. You dont have to corrupt yourself at all. In fact, necromancers are very revered in human society because they are responsible for the last rites of their predecessors

Lorewise. Who s gonna clean up a giant ruined tower where the toxic court defects still run around?

Small confession: I would’ve never had a legendary weapon if a permanent hair style contract didn’t drop. At the time I figured it was worth to trade for a legendary, but in hindsight, I kinda regret it because I have yet to use the function that seperates it from an ascended weapon at all.
Knowing where, when and how to jump does require brains. There are some JPs that only require reflexes, but they are few.
That’s not how I experienced them, honestly. In some cases like the gryphon valley I can see why you often have to look around to see where the path goes, but most are quite like the one in the sylvari starting zone, where you jump from platform to platform in a linear run. But then again, if you grew up with games like rayman 2, maybe pathing is something hardwired in my brains now, just like how people who played a lot of tetris are good at inventory management
My one frustration with most jumping puzzles is.. they’re not puzzles.
A puzzle would define that rational thinking would allow you to clear it in one go.
Instead, it’s a jumping challenge. You don’t always have to find the right path because there’s only one path to go. In those cases, the difficulty lies in making picture perfect jumps. making picture perfect jumps can be challenging, but they’re not puzzles
Lunar new year was originally Bash The Dragon to celebrate the death of zhaitan. it was then sort of discontinued (dunno why).
SAB was never more than a thorn in my eye draining valuable time from devs to work on the main game. Instead of SAB we could’ve had racial festivals, but no.. people were so lazy to boot up a normal 8bit game they demanded anet continued an april fools joke which we all know anet doesn’t even have the time and resources for
ah, it seems you missed the memo, no worries, I’ll try to explain it in brief:
Living World are.. comparable to DLC or mini-expantions. They cost 200 gems each, and LS2 can be bought in a cheaper bundle since it’s finished.
As a reward for being active, the people who log in when a new chapter goes live, get it for free. It’s a reward for being loyal and active.
On your main acount, you didn’t have to pay for it because you went online when the seasons were live.
Now on your second acount, the chapters are history, and therefore require a normal purchase.
e.g. All acounts that log in now unlock Living World S3 Chapter 3 for free. sometimes soon chapter 4 will come out. At that point, LS3.3 will cost 200 gems and LS3.4 will be free.
Thats the business model for GW2 anet chose. It rewards active participation in the game. The people who couldn’t log in for a period of 2-3 months (not even once for 10 seconds) are considered to be people who didn’t or don’t care about the game that much. The live period is pretty long, and you only need to log in once for 1 second to unlock it.
We have theoretical holidays, but theyre simply not celebrated because anet doesnt have the time or resources for parties other than wintersday and halloween.. scrap that, they dont even have the time and resources to update those.
The norn have a celebration for each of the great spirits, and the Great Hunt is an important one.
Humans celebrate each god, as well as some of their major events. We just cant see them celebrate it anywhere.
Charr just have ocassional boats to celebrate bug wars won, as well as Meatoberfest.
Sylvari are simply too young to have any of their own festivals yet.
Asura i dont really know. I think they celebrate the graduations of the college, but other than that
if you need a more intense white try “Crushed Bone”
It has a little touch of yellow but on most surfaces will look like plain white and it is far more intense than celestial
makes some small textures on your armor disappear even
Interesting,
Sylavri, i dont know. But sylvari sleep. Whether they sleep like other races i dont know. It could be a comatose rest, or it could be resting processing. I havent come across any sylvari that mentioned dreams. Other than the dream they had at birth, that is
I just tried it on the new ice crown. Celestial dye, that is. In the light its a bright white, but when a slight shadow hits, it bevomes purple. Not dark or grey. Purple. So dyes arent absolute at all
Sylvari, like all other mordrem, get a blueprint from the blighting tree (or in this case the pale tree).
Not all mordrem. See Mordrem Thrashers, Vinetooths, Octovines, possibly Breachers/Maws (we see no wurms being afflicted), and bombers (looks like nothing in all of Tyria).
This said, the Pale Tree definitely modeled sylvari in an abstract way after humans – confirmed by devs. The question is more whether she intentionally chose humans, or that choice was forced on her due to xyz reasons and what her choice was was “how human” to make sylvari.
Those could be models based on races present during the last cycle, or mix n matches of races. A similar effect is seen with the Destroyers. The ones in gw1 look very alien. The only familiar one looks like the troll which is a caverndwelling race. The rest resemble tunneling creatures and fungi. When in gw2 they follow the asura to the surface, they reshape to model the surface creatures. Harpies, crabs. Etc. Something similar i expect happens with the mordrem in reverse where instead of changing the mordrem entirely, mordremoth just adds blueprints rather than replaces them, creating more and more alien fusions. The breacher and the vinewrath may very well be a culmination of 20 races’ optimal traits

Two systems im glad are not ingame.
No housing. While it looks nice, it adds nothing in an MMO. Guild halls are much more important. As for fishing, what does it add? Do you have a food supply shortage. If not, it adds nothing to the game. If you want it for relaxation between heavy contends, you might want to close gw2 and instead try games like minecraft or fishing simulator, where relaxation is thr purposethats your personal opinion. Housing and fishing adds a lot for players who enjoy worlds that allow good immersion and have historically been enjoyed by many in great titles. See Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, ESO, Wildstar, LOTR, Rift, Archeage, BDO, WOW amongst others. Not everything needs to have an Adrenalin hit/reward to be fun. Older players get this more than younger players perhaps.
Wow has fishing. When was the last time you saw someone fish in wow?
As for most of those titles, theyre singleplayer games. In those games survival minigames and player housing are very good assets. But wow and gw2 are multiplayer games. Wow has fishing, but its not an enjoyed pasttime. And neither gave personal lodging.
Guilds over personal housing in an mmo. Personal housing is valuable more so in singleplayer games

Ctrl+T places a crosshair on a target. Pressing tab or T will then target that enemy when you lose focus. I have that problem too, how often i faceplanted the lave in the volcanic fractal because i target the grawl shaman, only to almost instantly lose target and rush past him.
Much rather, i’d love for a hard targetting setting: to not focus until you press Esc no matter where you click
Great, another eergh.. I have to play the game to get my rewards
I hope you realized that the LS3 masteries are actually tied to the LS3 maps? nowhere else in the world do you use the thermal launchers. nowhere else in the world can you wield spiritually imbued flames.
Not only are the masteries limited to the zones they’re actually used in, it would make ZERO sense to unlock these masteries ANYWHERE ELSE
Have you actually looked at what masteries are used in the maps? Thermal tubes are learned in Ember Bay. They are used both there and in Bitterfrost. The core masteries are used everywhere. My point though is that they are LINEAR and require previous ones. Say they do open up zones without doing the story ….. unless you have the mastery from the previous chapter you are not getting the current mastery no matter how much you may need it (even if you had no intention of going to the previous zone you still need that mastery).
I still fail to see your point. You say want access to stage 3 and their mechanics, completely neglecting stage 1 of the story and their mechanics? Boy you must be new to gaming. A normal player will go through the contend in sequence, be ause thats how the story works, thats how ANY story in ANY game works. No one plays mario world 5 and then world 2 and then world 4. Unless you have masteries of act 1 you wont get the masteries of act 2, and retrospectivally act 3.
But seriously, what is the problem? . . if you played the game normally, you wouldve had the thermal tube mastery before going to act 3
I can usually get 2 dailies done in a blue wins/red wins pvp map. 3 if the roll’s in my favor. Combine that with daily gatherer and its 5 minutes work for 2g and pvp roll rewards.
As for the other subject, there is something fundamentally wrong if people feel forced to do dailies, and people finding them a drag.
This is an issue that reflects on both the players and anet themselves. Its my opinion that its the players’ problem if they feel in any way forced to do dailies. If they feel like theyre doing the wrong contend, then go domething else.
But i agree that dailies are not enticing, at least not as much as they felt in the first days. Maybe the lack of bosses and jumping puzzles and dungeons/fractals in dailies.
you know, something I always do if I want to do my dailies quickly:
Daily Gatherer
Vista or something similar, whichever pops up that day
kill 2 oxen in WvW or join a blue-wins-pvp-map
Sylvari, like all other mordrem, get a blueprint from the blighting tree (or in this case the pale tree). The average mordrem comes from a blighting tree that just violently adds blueprints to it’s gallery whereas the pale tree sticks the model of a human.
Do note, however, they only physically resememble humans, they have completely different ‘souls’ and organs and all that. Just like a wooden carving of a rock isn’t actually a rock.
Great, another eergh.. I have to play the game to get my rewards

There is a misconception (I feel) here that you have to do dailies.
Dailies are meant to help players explore the world and go all around it. If dailies could be done truly anywhere, people would park at the most efficient spots. I agree that for gatherer it doesn’t really make sense, but you can still gather anywhere in a certain zone, you don’t have to limit yourself to one map. if it says orrian miner, there are 3 maps you can mine in.
I do agree that events in the starter zones are a pain because if many people rush after them, most of them finish in a few seconds, making it actually hard for the underlevelled people to actually participate
HoT gives me Season 3 Living Story? Unclear
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Amaimon.7823
TLDR; HoT didn’t give you LS3.3, it simply unlocked the LS3 journal. LS3.3 unlocked because you logged in when LS3.3 was active and you then had LS3 journal active.
In retrospect, I think you should’ve also unlocked LS3.1 and LS3.2 if you logged in during their active periods, even if you couldn’t play them without HoT
As far as I recall, ANet explicitly stated that there are more MCs entering the game over time than are actually consumed.
Which is true. Seeing as you need a lot of MCs for even the simplest things, and how slow they are gained, most people went into hoarding mode, and use them only when absolutely necessary. This decreased consumption, but not the need for the coins. Most players will never reach the “safe” levels of MC’s in their posession, so (as long as MCs remain both expensive and impossible to farm) they will continue to hoard them.
Which in turn only strengthens the thought that the people who do NOT have enough of them feel like there’s a shortage.
So in short: it’s like food in the real world. Some people have a shortage, and some people have too much. But the world won’t produce much more because the mean food is just right.
Thing is, while a charr revenant might know very well that their relationship with their legend isn’t actually worship, from the perspective of a charr who hasn’t actually experienced that relationship there may not be a lot of difference between receiving power from a legend and receiving it from a titan. I suspect we’ll see more about what the charr attitude towards revenants actually is at Rytlock’s court-martial.
Fair nuff.
TBH, I am looking forward to whatever they’re gonna do with Rytlock Although I may not survive long enough to see that part of the story happen, a man can only grow so old. Come to think of it, he channels Glint, doesn’t he?
Beyond those specific examples, though, it starts getting a bit dicier. Which of the existing legends would a charr guardian have had faith in? Or a norn? Or an asura? In addition to honouring Glint, a human guardian following Kormir might see channeling Shiro and Mallyx as a means of understanding what she went through, but that would be an unusual choice.
I think that the way the revenants are fleshed out isn’t very correct, mostly because it’s a class that taps into morals or reverences. I simply assume that the average revenant only channels the spirits for their knowledge or skills and doesn’t care about the person at all. Like instead of Ventari, the average revenant would’ve just picked the first random soul that could do a good enough job and only due to technical limitations we don’t get a hundred random souls but 4-5 specific ones.
I think human revenants would love to the channel the priests of the six gods, whereas the asura would propably love to channel their genious ansestors. Can you imagine, what asura wouldn’t want to channel Oola or Snaff.
Charr.. to be honest.. I can’t think of anyone but a past Khan they would channel.
Norn is actually pretty easy, the spirits of the wild aren’t dead, yet, but I’m pretty sure the mists are already recording them. If nothing else, they’d channel the dead spirits like Ram and Minotaur
on another note: charr aren’t against the act of worshipping itself as much as they are against the desire to do so. Charr believe in weapons and power. And if worshipping a ‘god’ or creature gives them the power they desire, they will do so. This spawned the Flame Legions in the first place. But at some point they will want to overpower their gods so they can have the power for themselves without needing to worship them. but they don’t worship because they have a sense of duty or religion, but they won’t skip out on it if it’s a trade for power. They’re not beyond worshipping, but they are beyond treating gods with respect. I prefer to call it enduring instead of worshipping

I don’t think it’s a bug, though, NPC’s have been idle background drops for as long as I can remember. Let me ask you, when was the last time you saw an allied NPC deal any damage whatsoever to an enemy?
I think there was a mention in an interview that lore-wise, most Revenants, including the Pact Commander as a revenant, started off as some other profession, and became a revenant when the teaching became available. I don’t recall them specifying that they were all warriors, though.
That said, I suspect that most revenants come from martial professions such as rangers, thieves, guardians, and warriors, rather than more intellectual professions such as necromancers, mesmers, engineers and elementalists, for two reasons:
First, because these professions already have good martial skills to build on.
Second, because it’s been indicated multiple times that the scholar professions require a lot of training investment to become competent in, and practitioners are hesitant to abandon one discipline in order to adopt another. Engineers have also likely gone to a lot of effort learning their trade that they would be loathe to allow to go to waste.
I suspect that most revenants are former warriors and thieves: they essentially have the least to lose. Warriors, lore-wise if not mechanically, might see adding the powers of legends to their repertoire as a straight-out upgrade. Thieves appear to dabble a bit in mesmer-like magic, but probably not so much that they’d have much regret switching to something else, and a thief that’s focused more on mobility than stealth might well see revenant, particularly Shiro revenant, as a natural progression.
Rangers and guardians both have more to lose: most rangers probably wouldn’t want to give up their connection to nature so easily, and while guardians aren’t as invested in their magic as scholar professions, they’re probably still a bit more hesitant about trading it in for a different model, although a guardian whose faith is in something related to a legend (such as a sylvari guardian following Ventari’s philosophy, or a follower of Glint) might find it to be a natural progression to channel the legend rather than simply having faith in it.
Conversely, elementalists and engineers were probably the least likely to become revenants: not only does each have a significant investment in time spent training in their professions, but (scrappers excepted) neither has much experience with melee martial weapons.
In response to the guardian, I don’t think they lose much, either, though.
It’s true that a guardian taps into faith or morale for power, and they need a strong for it to manifest. But in that case, a revenant is actually a good profession, albeit you’d be more of a crusader than a normal revenant.
A sylvari who upholds the Ventari teachings with great respect, might actually make for a very good revenant to channel the teachings of Ventari directly.
For someone who whorships ventari, wouldn’t being able to channel his wisdoms and teachings directly feel like a great honor or duty?
@OriOri: You are missing the point.
OP asks why he is missing AR from one day to another. The answer is clearly that it may have scaled down due to beeing in a lowlevel zone.
And it is scaling (for whatever reason) even if you don’t need it outside of fotm.
Okay, one picture doesnt prove it scales, but even if it does, as oriori said, you need it only in fractals, so if it scales somewhere else, thats completely inconsequential.
AR scales with the zone you are in. Were you checking in the FotM zone?
AR doesnt scale. Its a set number, if you have 20 AR, you have 20AR. No matter where you go.
As for what others said, maybe you had AR on a swapped weapon, or a ring you unequiped. Also be aware that during the underwater fractal you lose the AR on your helmet and weapon because you use the UW helmet and weapon
Does teleport to friend work?
Good question.. im also inclined to believe that, yes
ye, me too.
I really hope that all this kind of effort shows anet how much the playerbase wants LWS1 back.It does not. It shows that some guy went to a lot of effort to produce a LS1 movie, nothing else.
And not all the people that are talking about it, now? This isnt the only mention of the video. Its out for a day or few and already doing better than your average hollywood movie
Really? Where are all the people talking about it? I can’t see anything else in this forum, the General forum or the Heart of Thorns forum?
The video has had about 1,000 views at time of writing. I wonder how many people have watched the whole thing?
I appreciate that the guy put in some nice work here but taking the existence of a video as proof that there’s some kind of massive demand for LS1 seems a bit silly to me.
I was around during LS1 and although I’d like to be able to revisit it I’d much rather they spent their resources on creating new content.
A big chunk of playerbase has gaps in ls1. I for one missed the whole marionette part which i heard was the best bit. If you go to dreamyabaddon’s channel, you can find 3 multipage topics on ls1. Apart from that its regularly brought up with suggestions on how to remake ls1 and a lot of people talk about it ingame as well. There are also new player topics of people who started during or after ls2 and are very confused on the story. You kill zhaitan, and the next stop is helping your buddies rox, kasmeer etc with their advents talking as scarlet was some famous celebrity whose party you missed

Done a bit of searching and I haven’t found anything that answers this question yet. In short, how do I find out the name of a song playing in game? I own nothing just a humble messenger, the original post is on reddit. As someone who never played S1 and watched through videos, its amazing seeing a coherent and well made video of the unplayable season. Enjoy!

Any item you purchase is ‘usually’ acount bound. As for armor and weapon skins, they unlock in your wardrobe, and you get the skin object which you can consume, meaning you get one free charge.
Many items in the gem store are multiweight, meaning heads, shoulders etc usually come in light, medium AND heavy form. But when you buy a full set of armor it pays to pay attention what armor class they belong to, as full sets do tend to have a weight class restriction

All the lore we got is that the revenant used to be a warrior, so we know where they come from technically.
1. Not all Revenants were Warriors before becoming Revenants. We know Rytlock was a Revenant but that doesn’t tell us anything in general.
2. We did get somewhat more lore than that: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hidden-arcana-role-playing-the-revenant/
I couldn’t find to source so quickly, maybe I’ll get back to it. but I remember from a dev ask and tell video that they did say all revenants used to be warriors who found a new path. maybe some were guardians as a guardian is technically a warrior, too.. but they certainly weren’t elementalists.
There is no reason to assume Revenants were any other profession before becoming Revenants.
As the link I posted states:
a brand-new revenant starting on their journey will not have had to visit the Mists or undergo any more of an advanced process to access revenant powers than they would for the other core professions. All that’s necessary to begin training as a revenant is knowledge of the profession, the faith and will to reach into the Mists, and an open mind.
I’m just saying, I myself am pretty sure of it because I heard a dev say it once in a video.. but that doesn’t make it an infallible truth, I agree on that
