I deleted my asura guardian because empower animation was asura poledancing around the staff. It was too much.
I like to respond to people who necrofy threads
All the lore we got is that the revenant used to be a warrior, so we know where they come from technically.
1. Not all Revenants were Warriors before becoming Revenants. We know Rytlock was a Revenant but that doesn’t tell us anything in general.
2. We did get somewhat more lore than that: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hidden-arcana-role-playing-the-revenant/
I couldn’t find to source so quickly, maybe I’ll get back to it. but I remember from a dev ask and tell video that they did say all revenants used to be warriors who found a new path. maybe some were guardians as a guardian is technically a warrior, too.. but they certainly weren’t elementalists.
All the lore we got is that the revenant used to be a warrior, so we know where they come from technically
There is however not a single source on how they learn this, or since when they learned this ability.
The only know source of revenancy is uncle Trombone’s travel to the mist and returning, and maybe some heroes decided to try the same or did something similar, I dunno, but as long as uncle Trombone stays quiet, it doesn’t make much sense for everyone else to know..
A much simpler dream: for at least the announcement to be in 2017 (let alone the release)
Memes need to age for at least one year before they can be integrated into GW2.
Nah, anet needs a year to notice players want something, then another to implement it
1. Popular guilds are simply by a ask and demand method in any city. Just give a shout in any city and you oughta get like 50 whispers, pronto.
2. There are several fruitful things to do, depending on what you want. If it’s generally gold making; Auric Basin has a multiloot systeem at the moment. It’s when you join a squad that has groups spread out over several instances, whereafter clearing the meta event, you open the chests on all instances. Farming crafting materials isn’t very worthy anymore. Flax is still decent, though. Right now (wintersday) farming gifts and farming karma to buy gifts is popular because presents sell for at least 5s each.
3. Do fractals, join meta event maps, etc etc. You’ll come in touch with the active playerbase and then you can see what they do
I have a similar problem
I HATE the radiant set
and I have 3 pieces of radiant and 3 pieces of hellfire instead of 6 pieces of hellfire and 0 pieces of radiant
life bar on to my allies, always viewable
if you press F11 you get the full options interface. I’m at work right now so I can’t check the exact position, but I’m sure you’ll find it. Im certain its there.
There are also a few hotkeys, like
CTRL+S is sound on and off, I dont know which one’s for life bars I have accidentally used it once, so I know there’s on. Good luck.
If you can’t find it, let me know, I can check ingame at a later time for you
Weird, i have a character that didnt do LS3.3 but could just physically walk into the new map
I think once the account has opened the map, the portal is usable. My characters (that have not done the story in any part) can just walk in, as well, but since purchasing the scroll, I just use that.
But that would make the scroll completely absolete
Sorry. I need a little more context. Do you mean how to enable health bars of friendly players like you see them on enemies?
Weird, i have a character that didnt do LS3.3 but could just physically walk into the new map
People keep posting that artificial scarcity is a successful marketing ploy. The only thing it seems to generate w/GW2 is aggravation, frustration, and resentment. It may work in the retail world, but it’s been done there forever and people expect it, almost like a tradition. I think it doesn’t work here because what on earth other video games withhold their merchandise for months or years at a time? Never even letting their customers know when or if something will ever be back? From what I have seen, it’s just not done elsewhere, so its unexpected and just feels rude and kind of mean.
Is not a question of whether it’s an enjoyable method. If it works, it works. And anet will c continue to do it. Many companies do it
’We’re not. It was so long ago we last saw or heard from the rifts it may as well be abandoned content’
TL;DR
The reason objects are not available all year through is so people have a push in the back when the object is available to buy it because you won’t know when the next opportunity is
All these auras just need to be reworked into account unlocks finally then all the problems are solved
It has been suggested many many times in slightly different forms and with nice ideas
I just hope Anet can do it and is willing to do it within the next months
Anet’s been real quiet on the forums lately. They made a QoL subtopic, but I feel like it was mostly just so everyone dump their QoLs on one pile and they didnt have to look at it
I’d be content with just being allowed in the Tengu city, couldn’t care less about actually being able to play as a Tengu or not
Agreed, the Tengu played such big roles, playable or not, why are they omitted from all stories so far.. I mean, I get they’re hiding behind their walls. But interaction with the world can’t be that negligable
Topic no.29447 on making Auras a wardrobe object.
Take note, Anet, The people demandeth!
Agreed completely.
Old Lion’s arch had character and actually looked cool. The new nautical theme is a sorry attempt. The new LA has character, too. It’s the character of the Consortium. What else would you expect from a bunch of superficial, shallow corporate pirates? Certainly not coolness! If you follow the LA tour guide around for a bit, you’ll hear a few bitter comments from her concerning the change, so it has clearly been done deliberately for a particular effect, not because the ANet designers have run out of imagination.
You mean the character of a disney waterpark parking lot?
How about making it so the last chest at the end of the catacomb is a special chest that drops 4-5 rares at the cost of 2 keys. And for the rest all other chests ancient chests as a container, which have a 50%blue, 40%, green and 9%rare and 1%exotic?
they were supposed to release tengu as a race, and great axe. RIP expansions that are worth buying.
Do you have a link/source for that?
I dont have a link on hand, but theres plenty of footage/interviews out there. They were scrapped as a playable race during development, instead we got big humans.. really.. if I got to choose between norn and tengu and norn as a playable race, it would be tengu a hundred times.
I havent ever heard anything about axes being part of the base design, and I doubt they wouldve scrapped it if it was already in development
I wished maps like Dragons Stand booted inactive players
Thank you guys. I didn´t expected so much feedback in such short time.
I´ll get back to leveling then.
And I will be back with more noobish questions.
Peace.
Youll find the forums can be very helpfull IF youre putting in effort being nice and asking normal questions. Likewise the forum is also a place to summon a skritt downpour if youre rude or abbrassive. So if you make civil topics, you get civil conversations. Remember there are always a lot of people who love to help others, so never feel ashamed to ask noobish questions, we wuz nubs once, too
Ls3 is like ls2, individual chapters that are purchased, or rewarded/gifted to active players. Unlock is permanent. Unlike ls1, future LS’s wont disapear
It’s different in that you don’t have to buy LW2 to play dry top or silverwastes.
True that, the zones and their open world events are accessible for everyone, LS2 or not.
Lion’s Arch is destroyed. Forever.
Good, to me its already.
Cobiah Marriner dreamed of a hub of trade to all races, not a disney waterpark parking lot.
Hands = Prehensile, multi-fingered.
Paws = Used to walk, with claws.
Technically, they aren’t mutually exclusive. So I’ll say Charr have four paws, of wich 2 are also hands. And Asura have hands that are paws too.
I simply cannot agree theyre paws. The merriam definition of a paw:
“1: the foot of a quadruped (as a lion or dog) that has claws; broadly : the foot of an animal.”
As of such theyre claws that function as hands (or vice versa) but definitely not paws
More annoying than the hero tron backpiece?
Your-grawl-impression-is-really-comming-along
Easily the most obnoxious backpiece ever designed
I hate them and would slaughter them to the last one if I had my way.
This world needs more people like you
Yes, kitten is their censor word.
And yes, at lv 30 you can do the story mode of the first dungeon.
The personal story is cut in sections at intervals of 10 levels. After 30 dungeons take the story of Destiny’s Edge (the group you met in lions arch). These story instances are not necessary for the personal story, but give ectra character development so theyre worth doing. At lv 30 its the Ascalonian Catacombs.
You’ll usually not find many storymode groups in LFG these days. Its been 4 years since most others did it. But you can always make a group yourself. And if it takes too long, ask in big guilds for help.
At lv 30 you get the story mode of the first dungeon, and at 5 levels later, you unlock adventure/explorer mode. That is 3 different ministories. Not related to the main story.
The adventure mode is done more, but its usually better/easier to do that at lv80.
30 (35) Ascalonian Catacombs
40 (45) Caudecus’ Manor
50 (55 or 80) Twilight Arbor
60 (65) Sorrow’s Embrace
70 (75) Citadel of Flame
76 (80) Honor of the Waves
78 (80) Crucible of Eternity
80 (80) the Ruined City of Arah, Orr
80 (no extra levels, but agony resistance) Fractals of the Mist
These are all the dungeons. Fractals of the Mist does not have a story mode. The Ruined City of Arah is the only required dungeon because its completion its the last story step.
.
How to farm gold, until youre lv80 and completed story, i wouldnt be too bthered with this.
.
How to gear up: look for an appropriate prefix for your armor. Berserker for raw power (warriors, etc) or Rabid or condition dealers. Knights if you want more defense, etc. Along the way of the story, heart vendors will sell armor and weapons for karma. You can also buy blue or green quality armor from Black Lions Trading Post (press O)
Armpr is useful, but dont spend too much gold on it, yet. Instead, at level 80 find the Ruined Temples in Orr, and reclaim them. There is a merchant at every temple selling Exotic quality armor for ~5000 karma a piece.
Armor comes in white, blue, green. Then Rare (yellow), Exotic (orange), Ascended (pink), and Legendary (purple). Exotic is the highest tradable quality available.
.
One tip; unlike WoW, there is no gear treadmill. Once at lv 80, all gear is 80, and all 80 gear is the same depending only on quality and prefix. Meaning if you have a lv 80 exotic piece of your desired prefix, its the best piece of armor until you yourself craft Ascended or Legendary
Chances are if we ever do get to go to Cantha or Elona that we’ll get a new race, even of it is just Human – Canthan or Human – Elonian. I just don’t want corners cut with their development of the new race just to say they added a new race. I’d rather no new race if they don’t give them the same treatment as they did to the original races.
That makes alot of sense to me honestly. Why not be retro and go back to GW1 ways and have Canthan or Elonian be the new “race” and tweak the looks of the existing races in minor ways so they have a different look or flair to them. New faces, hairstyles etc. that are only available with a character actually from that respective continent.
They could do that. They could even have existing races such as Charr or Asura over there and explain it by shipwrecks or Asura gates and give those races a new look. The voices and armor would stay the same and they could fit into the vanilla personal story with no problems.
I dont see why not. I mean Norn is a different type of human….so yea its a possibility. Plus its been so many years, who knows what new races these continents have to offer.
Norn is an example of a bad race design. But how fitting a race is has no bearing on the discussion. It could be a quaggan for all anet cares. Problem is, inserting a new race after two campaigns have already happened. Say tengu or whatever gets inserted. Do you simply not have access to the Orr and Maguuma campaign? Or will they be shoehorned in with a simple error message “this is not a canon instance”.
“first instance”?
This is the living world forum, but you gotta be more specific
I just don’t see why Anet refuses to listen to GW2 Community regards this topic of adding a new race. Tengu, as the most requested race has been suggested for years and probably 80% would agree of having Tengu as a new playable race.
If anet gave us everything we asked for it would be a junkyard of ideas. Anet have a design and makes choices that fit that design. A new race is fun, but if it doesnt forward their plot its an awfull lot of work that adds nothing gameplaywise. Just because tengu is the popular candidatd for a new race doesnt mean the concept of a new race is a good idea.
There might be corrupted female norn, but not on their own incentive.
The sons of svanir hate women because the sister of Svanir denied the dragon. To them its kind of like adam and eve, and eve betrayed their ‘god’.
There are icebrood, corrupted norn who have completely lost their mortal sense and become chilled. I dont expect there to be many female norn as without the sons of svanirs its hard to get there.
Whenever im in a lower level or core zone, i sometimes get conditions combined with cripple. Since its the core maps, the condis dont do much damage, but the cripple is an annoyance. Whenever i use a condi cleanse, the game tends to remove the first condis on the list, which in this case is a condi im not suffering from.
So my request/suggestion is for more intelligent condi cleansing. Say, if your health is above 50% prioritize movement restricting conditions over damaging conditions.
So, chill > cripple > bleed/poison.
Unless of course you have more than 3 ticks of one condition or your health is below 50%. This is just a QoL combat change.
Silverwastes tend to have a few 1-2 hit “rich” nodes. But no other occurances outside that for me
So essentially a cheaper shared slot for one specific item? Then thered be no reason to buy the slots if you dont have the item
They are rats, so they have claws.
They used to live under ground, it would be logical for them to have claws to dig out dirt and such.Skritt are rats.
Asura are not. They are more like Gremlins than anything else.Asura have a sped up evolution.
Evolution goes from generation to generation.
Generally, the faster a species reproduces, the faster they evolve. That’s why bacteria always evolve so fast. I have not seen any indication that Asura reproduce significantly faster than the other races of Tyria.Actually they probably reproduce less because they are so career focused.
Ye sorry, i wrote that wrong. I meZnt their chain of evolution is more efficient. Eg, they made the right changes faster than other species. Adapted better, however you call it. As a result their appearance still has traits of their amphibian ancestors
@nagr, you’re really true to your name
Ok? That’s like saying a book is true to its cover. Maybe it’s so, but it’s not necessarily nice to say either.
But it’s true, you’re derailing the original discussion which is ‘how to start raiding’ by making topics of your personal raiding experiences that do not add to the question.
They do add to the question. OPs topic was on best way to start raiding and since I’m a relative newcomer as well, I gave him some helpful advice that I myself used to garner exp and weekly kills. The truth is no one held my hand when I started, no one’s going to hold his either. I understand what that’s like
you make matters worse, when you are called out on it, you start an argument which only further derails this whole topic.
Other ppl are the one starting the arguments and disagreeing with my advice, I am simply defending myself by refuting their claims through examples of personal firsthand evidence.
If anyone should be accused of derailing the thread, imo it seems like it would be u for starting an ad hominem attack while at same time adding nothing helpful or relevant to what OP was asking for.
@icy I think your missing my point which was LI is meaningless and speaks nothing abt a players skill or experience with their class, roles, and their rotations for example. I could ping u whole stacks of LI if it made u feel better for having me in the grp, but it wouldn’t be the whole truth either. I could have as little as single digit LI or easily triple digits of it, it still doesn’t prove a whole lot. It’s not the entire picture, just a small part of it
point proven
Ls3 is like ls2, individual chapters that are purchased, or rewarded/gifted to active players. Unlock is permanent. Unlike ls1, future LS’s wont disapear
Maybe instead of trying to nerf the one map, the others should be brought up to speed?
How much do you want capes in the game?
Will you spend 1000 gems for a Cape skin (backpiece)? While I would like to see capes also but I’d suggest giving up on it because there are too many cape haters. They’d rather wear those wings that block everyone’s visibility plus clip everything and everyone around them because it makes them look like a peakitten strutting around in mating season. I dislike that they pair back pack wing skins with glider skins. I refuse to buy any that are paired like that.
To me any wings that aren’t in use gliding should be tucked back cape style. Expanded wings should come with a negative cost on movement while running because of increased wind resistance.
Wings and feathers are specifically built to be aerodynamic so I doubt there’s much wind resistance, either running or flying.
Aerodynamic when gliding.
The flight has two steps.
Use the flat of the wing to push air away.
Use the sharp of the wing to glide through the air.
The wings as worn mostly press flat against the wind. As a result experiencing wind resistance is to be expected, unless we bend over so the wings move with the sharp line forward
Asura have a sped up evolution. The went through the same cycles as humans but much faster/more efficient. Hence they are mammals, but havinf retained amphibian traits. Traits that were more dominantly expressed due to a subterranean lifestyle.
I dont think its fair to call them either hands or paws as theyre neither quadrupedal nor primate in nature. I think claw is the right nature
If you have the T5 mats to sacrifice as well as T6 dust and 1 existing T6 same mat, you can use up spirit shards for philosopher stones to make the conversion at the forge. Be warned however that returns from T5 to T6 are far less than Tx to Tx+1 (1 to 2, … , 4 to 5) because of how powerful those mats are. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of coin for the dust, unless you have a massive amount of ecto you suddenly don’t want.
Right now I have exactly 250 ectos, which I will need, and the T6 dusts are part of the 8*250 I need to collect so I don’t have a surplus of that yet
Have you Forged all the Clovers you’ll need? Otherwise do that before finishing up the mats, as you’ll relatively often get t6s from that recipe.
Propably worth mentioning, I have everything ready except the *250 T6 mats, once I have those I can flush everything down the mystic toilets
After completing personal story, living season 1 occurs but cannot be played at this moment. Living world season 2 is 8 chapters large I think. If you take it slow they should take you 2-3 days each. Maybe 4. If you take it leisurely a month is a lot of time. You’ll be done faster than that. Living world season 2 is a precursor to the story of Hot. Hot can take a little longer completely depending on how long it will take you to unlock the necessary masteries
1000 gems to hide all capes? deal!
1000 gems to hade a cape. Meaning you have to pay it to hide each individual’s cape
Have the percentage drops already been confirmed?
Lats I read was:
Precursors: drop chances are 0.0001% when hell is freezing
Aura infusions are 1/millionth of a precursors’ drop rate
Invisible shoes drop once for someone on the same day that a pink haired norn loots a Zap precursor when that player on playing on his birthday and he’s turning 17, while at the same time another player who born in 1993, juli is finishing Caudecus’ manor in exactly 31 minutes and 17 seconds. Only under those exact circumstances can a treasure mushroom spawn with 1 invisible shoes-box
Right now i need 8*250 of the T6 mats which is quite a lot. At the moment I can grind out wintersday presents for the bloods (figured i’d get the most expensive one out of the way first). But I have no reason to believe to I can make it in time, so ill be needing lots more T6 mats after wintersday.
What do you guys reckon would be the most productive route. Doing map rewards seemed not very lucrative considering the T6/hour ratio. Laurels are a good shot, but timelocked. So.. besides repeating Tarir ML which can get boring after a while, any other suggestions? (I wont sell my mystic coins for t6)
If the ice encasement outfit is any hint, its a terrible one. While I agree it looks like its covered in jormag snot, it doesnt look icebrood in anyway.
Ifmyou, paybattention to the icebrood and the corrupted svanirs, youll notice theyre not covered in ice, but ice replaces their flesh. The greater norn have limbs of ice with the bone visible within.
But it would be cool to see one of Dragons Watch (or the defect Braham) become corrupted.
I don’t like seeing auras on cash items. It should be reserved for infusions or legendary gear. ????
If it were achievable, right now all auras are on legendary weapons, or infusions that are hundred times rarer than precursors
