No excuses left, anet. Make that hologram battle tonic, easiest gold sink or money source available to you know. Making it is a winwin situation. Not making it is a loselose situation. That makes it a nobrainer right? Little effort, maximum reward for both parties

Where are you getting the chests you are opening? Last time I did a count I got 47 crystals from 10 chests, events give a lot, crystallized catches give a lot. Not sure why you say they don’t.

Very few events, if any at all, besides the Gerent kill give crystals. in a few occassions I got a few from events, but those were 10-25. and very rare and very time consuming.
And I did another run with 25 keys, got 72 crystals. 52 crystals is not much given the amount you need.

52 crystals from 25 keys = 2.08 crystal per chest, which is negligable in the face of how much you need.

In short, the only way to get crystals decently is jsut repeating the Gerent meta over and over again

The Dream of Dreams is a Realm of the Mists

in Lore

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

This isn’t a counterargument to your entire story, but rather a possibility that completely flips the way of thinking:

Are the mists:
A) The vast multiverse containing our reality
or
B) A realm linked to our reality

e.g. are we the storage room with a box, or are we the contents of the box (in this the box being the mists)

The thing that would change is:
does the mist copy events that take place in the mists, or is our world simply the most stable realm within the mists

Sylvari are not Mordremoth's creation

in Lore

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

@Amaimon Never said Mordrem couldn’t keep spawning somehow, that was your own conclusion since you view sylvari as Mordrem, not me. But honestly, while we know Mordrem and Risen kept roaming around after their respective master died, we really don’t know if they can keep spawning as such, and I think that if new minions would spawn they’d respond to a new entity. Also, last time I checked we killed every major Mordremoth’s champion.

Again, Mordrem guard are corrupted sylvari, it’s pretty obvious when you think about it: sylvari turning is the only known case of Mordrem guards.

Mordrem guarding those seeds does not imply that they (both the seeds and sylvari) come from Mordremoth (whatever that would mean).

The Dream (but also the Nightmare) appears to behave as an higher entity, comparable to Mordremoth in a way. In my view the Dream of Dreams is a realm of the Mists, the Dream and the Nightmare are entities trying to rule over said realm, like Mordremoth also was and/or tried to (if you’re interested, here is a link to a thread I made regarding exactly this).

Well, what is your evidence then, that sylvari are not mordrem? and as I said, the mordrem guard are indeed sylvari turnt, but its more a matter of ‘restoring’ rather than ‘corrupting’, since from a starting point of view, sylvari is the corrupted form.

less than 1/10 chests give leyline crystals, and when they do, its never more than 10.
The only reliable source of crystals is the Gerent meta event. You can’t expect people to do a specialization weapon collection and then create a grind thats long AND timegated

Sylvari are not Mordremoth's creation

in Lore

Posted by: Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

Amaimon.7823

Mordrem: Any creature that is born from the ilk of Mordremoth and has their mind connected to Mordremoth. There are two types of mordrem, born of his ilk, and corrupted by his ilk. Born from his ilk are the average Mordrem AND Sylvari, as sylvari are just a reskin of normal mordrem. Corrupted ilk are all plantoid matter that mordremoth corrupted.

I’ll assume those descriptions of dragon minions are of your own, since you didn’t link any source nor have alluded to any.
I’ll just focus on the sylvari, giving you a question: why do we see sylvari still spawning after Mordremoth’s demise then? The only answer is that they never came from Mordremoth to begin with; they were exploited by Mordremoth (together with the Trees), whose intent was to corrupt them.

And if anything it’s the Mordrem (guard) that are a reskin of sylvari, since it’s the sylvari that get covered in thick bark and grow in size, and never the other way around, so it’s quite the opposite.
Sylvari are not dragon corruption (nor dragon minions), Mordrem are.

In addition, both Mordremoth and sylvari are linked to the Dream (and Mordremoth is not the Dream): that’s where to find their mental link, and how Mordremoth was able to communicate with them priorly to corrupting them.

P.S. What do you exactly mean with “ilk”? Could you use a word other than that, to let me better understand your view?

So, your new theory is: because mordremoth is dead, no new mordrem can spawn.
This is a fallacy right from the start. Some champions and high ranked dragon minions can procreate. Just because they stopped receiving orders from their ‘god’ doesnt mean they stopped doing whatever they were doing before. All risen and all mordrem are currently continuing on their last given orders until killed.
And we know they came from mordremoth, because we know that a human and a centaur took an egg from a cave guarded by mordrem. The only reason they look different from all mordrem is because their spawnage was guided by other hands than those of mordremoth.

The mordrem you see are the ‘normal’ form and the sylvari are a mutation on that form. The mordrem guard is a rebukkal attempt at restoring the original form.

I concede the dream is a strange thing. But as far as I understood it, the dream is simply a ‘memory’ shared among sylvari, stored in the pale tree. It was propably a mechanic to give mordrem commands and purposes or intellect prior to ‘birth’.
Since the pale tree was forcefully disconnected from mordremoth’s mind, the pale tree could use the dream for her own purposes. Not even the Pale Mother can control the dream, she can only share its contents meaning the dream has a ‘higher source’.

(ps: by ilk I mean any creature that shares blood with mordremoth. So mordremoth’s ilk are the champions and the blighted trees. And the mordrem are the ilk of the blighted trees. hence the sylvari are ilk of mordremoth, in the sense that mordremoth is their grandfather)

And it’s kind of hard to cite a source when the source is all the dialogue and the three books I’ve read. I’d have to sift through a pile of wikipedia pages and reread the books to cite the exact pages. its just stuff I remember from reading all the dialogue and reading the books.

Amaimon.7823

So you’re saying that 60-70% of armor HAS “trenchcoats” and even more for Males! Wow, that’s a lot of trenchcoats. And let’s look at these options more closely:

Prowler: Crafted (male = very long skirt)
Hellfire: Chest is at least 30,000 AP (still has a skirt)
Strider: Gem Store
Viper: Gem Store
Aetherblade: Gem Store (female has skirt, male has trenchcoat)
Krytan: Gem Store (male has trenchcoat)
Glorious: PvP
Glorious Hero: PvP
Sneakthief: Loot (male = very long skirt)
Illustrious: Crafted Ascended (some skirts)
Scout’s: Human Cultural
Assassin: Human Cultural (side skirt)
Evergreen: Sylvari Cultural (female buttcape, male long skirt)
Nightshade: Sylvari Cultural (buttcape)
Duelist: Karma

So, many are very limited: 1 is 30k AP (how many players are there?), 1 is Ascended, 2 are PvP only, 4 are Cultural.

The rest are reasonable to get: 4 are Gem Store, 1 is Crafted, 1 is Karma, 1 is Loot

And out of all you list, most still have some skirt (which is the usual objection for trenchcoats) and most of the skirts are on the male version which is also used for female Asura and Charr!

Does non-skirt armor look a bit more limited now?!!

Sorry, I didnt count skirts as trenchcoats because theyre 100% something else. Plus i skipped a few because i only saw the human female gallery. Maybe some females i skipped didnt have a trenchcoat or skirt on the male model

Obviously you can’t mine airship parts (and they purposely made airship parts the most common to get from chests), so I can understand the absence of that one. But crystals should be mineable, and I’ve always felt it was odd that only one of the 3 currency types from HoT has a node.

Yes, I agree. Especially now, isn’t it weird that leyline crystals are limited to the Tangled Depths despite us seeing leylines everywhere. Heck, the Dry Top and th Silverwastes have large caverns of leylines

Amaimon.7823

Initial impressions:

I like it. More stuff to do, another home instance node to buy, great terrain. I like the torch stuff.

Negatives:

- That map seriously needs a few more way points and/or shortcuts.
- The last boss is brutal. It’s a personal story, not a raid or dungeon and many folks will be attempting it solo. Some will succeed, some will not. Even when you understand the rather obscure mechanics it is not an easy fight.

One small suggestion. It seems that the trend is to sell us a new portal scroll for each new map. That’s great but they are starting to clutter up the inventory a little. A universal portal device that we could add our scrolls and portals destinations to would be excellent. So you double-click it and it offers you a list of your available destinations.

I found the last boss really easy. It took me a minute to realize what I was supposed to do. One look at this status should tell you he’s pro-immortal and thus needs a mechanic to kill. Then you see him constantly charging so my first thought was: run him into the walls to stun him.. didn’t work.
2nd thought: Run him into the 4 spires.. didn’t work.
3rd though: use him to kill the minis.. worked.
Then I kept killing all the minis thinking maybe some secondary effect will happen. Which it did, a scroll spawned and the boss suddenly became VERY weak. just a few hundred blades and a few dodges was all it took.

The challenge mote for 100 is a complete overhaul of the original fractal. Instead of the 3 regular bosses you fight a reskin of them with many mechanics overlapping, including new ones that are not present on the original Nightmare. It is a true test of mettle for people who used to claim Fractals did not live up to the challenge (pun intended, this is literally the achievement for running it, which I hope it’s daily or weekly!).

Warrior is the most viable in every game mode because;

  1. For the first 75% its easy to elarn, another 20% experience to master, and only 5% more for the pros.
  2. Extremele adaptive and viable

Elementalists are in the same position. Very adaptable, but a bit more complex, so it all hinges on how fast you can learn a class. Whichever you choose, know that half the power is experience. An experienced class A can beat any meta with less experience
