Are you sure it’s server lag and not just you? I’ve never experienced server lag in any world event.

Hall of Monuments teleport can serve as a safe afk-spot. It’s free and returns you to same place
Backpeddling is almost useless in every MMO and a big no-no in PvP.
Strafing is what you are looking for. While strafing you run as fast as you would run forward and still can shoot the mob following you. Same what you do while kiting.
It would open a whole can of worms where we’d need a Divorce system, complete with lawyers who can squabble over every piece of armor and gold piece that you own. No way is someone else getting half my stuff!
And your house..
If the housing comes, I’m pretty sure that it has a system that allows you to give people permissions what they can and cannot do in your house, so you probably will be able to create a situation like that even without actual relationship systems.
Since I’ve gotten some responses I’ll post my views
I personally would like to see a marriage system in game. People like aesthetic gears, and pets, marriages are no different in my opinion.
As for what I think ANet will do. I can’t really say lol. As someone stated, if they do implement it, then regardless of the choices they make, they will offend someone because it will make a statement, which makes a really good case for not doing it. But I would be sad if they chose not to.
I personally would like to see open relationships. So many people play with their family, and friends, I would actually love to see a whole family system set up. How cool would that be? Anyway, before I wander. I don’t really believe in restrictions. My thought would be, with such a wide culture base, it would be safer to be more open than closed regarding choices in these kinds of things. But that’s just me.
What effects are you suggesting that the marriage/family system should have? Would you get a title, or some cosmetic options, shared banks, what? Or would it be just somekind of biography window listing your relationships without any actual ingame effects?

1. Representing is absurd. I had plenty of players join my guild and 75% of the people online were likely representing another guild. Now, I let everyone know that I am completely fine with them joining other guilds, however, it is extremely frustrating when you have absolutely no control over it and there’s nothing you can really offer a person that you guild is better, unless it’s PvP oriented.
In my opinion representing system is quite genious. It allows the guild leaders to see the state of their guild before it’s too late. Like in this case. With normal “1 guild at a time”-system those 75% of your members would have left your guild completely. Now they are representing other guilds, but are still in yours too, so it’s not too late for you to try to make your guild more appealing.
In short, with normal system you would have lost those 75% completely. With representing system you have a chance to win them back.
Yes most forums are like that. Especially the first months after launch are very negative. Usually the loudest complainers and those who want to change the game entirely to suit their needs leave after 2-3 months.

Excellent idea! I hope some version of this gets implemented. I think it would encourage the player to wait to be revived and at the same time encourage people to make a point of reviving someone.
It would be nice also if someone could have a …“Don’t revive me, I’m afk!” tag they could have on. Some folks die and say …oh well …I’ll use this time as a break and go make a sandwich. Or they have something come up and have to afk for several minutes. I’ve revived people and then to my dismay, seen them get killed again right away and realize that they aren’t there and now have more armor damage. Good deed gone awry.
Fortunatelly they won’t get more armor damage from your good deed because the armor damage comes from travelling to a waypoint, not defeat itself. So don’t worry!
It might not be a perfect system but as long as you know it’s there, you can avoid it. It’s better than nothing. I’m sure it will get better in time.

Maybe you could even see the one who clicked you on your minimap until you are alive again. That would help you to see if the helper is actually coming and how long would it take, or is he just trolling and making you wait for nothing.

Yeah! it’s supposed to be World vs World, not player vs player! Let the worlds collide!
Thought behind the idea is good, but to be honest it would really annoy players. Having that kind of system would feel like a punishment to those who are doing nothing wrong.
Of course I want botters caught too, but I don’t want to have to prove possibly many times a day that I’m not one.

Some of you seem to have a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome with the carrot-and-stick model of character progression. It’s a relic of a begone and benighted era. Just let it go.
That era is far from gone my friend, and it will never truly be gone if a game company wishes to continue to have a solid player base. Look at TOR. That player base kitten near went the way of the dinosaurs because of the terrible end game. If I remember correctly they added more gear progression, more dungeons, more raids and more general content, and they are more alive than they would have been…some say it was way to late on their part.
I don’t want to see this game lose the player base. I want this game to be successful like EVERYONE else. The current system implemented is not good enough. Your game ends at 80. That’s not how it should be. Either make me have 15 plus character slots to constantly create newer characters to “fill” my end game craving or create an end game that will actually motivate players to want to work for something.
Actually that is one of the reasons why TOR failed. Only new content after launch has been two new raids. There is absolutely nothing to do if you do not raid or gather gear.
But if raiding and gearing is the only thing you want, why not play a game that is centered on that instead of trying to change the only one that does things differently?
People want different things and now there is a game for non-raiders too.

Why is it so horrible that there is one popular MMO out there that has a different system than all the traditional others? Isn’t there enough games with raids and endless gear grind already?
GW2 is the answer to those who are either tired of that same old model or have never liked it. Why should that be taken away and turned into another clone that would be the same as 50 other MMOs?

I would disagree with that feature, even as an option.
To each their own, but to me, it is clear, inspecting “brings” nothing to the game-play and is not necessary. As an option there will be players around telling to those whom chose to disable inspecting that they did so to hide their “crappy” gear… mark my words.
No to elitism, please, we have enough of it in our every day life.
Yep that is exactly what would happen. I’ve seen it so many times. With optional system uninspectable people are automatically clueless noobs and don’t have the right to do anything or even have opinions.
Inspecting has its uses, but I actually prefer not to have it in game. The game has so many ways to build the character to work just like you want and not having inspecting gives the freedom to actually do it without someone always whispering you how you are doing it wrong.
I don’t want to explain to anyone why I’m wearing X instead of Y or have trait X instead of Y because X:s work so much better and anyone using Y is total noob.
In traditional “one tree, one build, one way to gear up” system it’s completely fine to have inspecting.
Reminds me of the good old “one more turn…” and suddenly it is 4:00 AM

You already have an option to do that. It’s called self discipline :P
You got rewards for completing each individual zone. Oh, you want 100% map completion and legendary weapons? But you want to get it without exploring 100% of the map. I see…
And you think you’re entitled to that, why?
What if I said I don’t enjoy PvE – could I get my legendary weapon just doing PvP zones? Of course not, that’s silly. What if I said I don’t like leveling – would I get to create a character at level 80? Of course not.
But you don’t have to discover/complete all of the PvE dungeons (every path, getting every PoI in them) in order to complete the 100% map discovery.
Such a task would be as onerous a task as having to get every point on the Eternal Battlegrounds map, which most people can only accomplish ever through server transfers. Such a system as our current system is inelegant at best, stupid at worst.
Reason why dungeons are left out is probably that it would require a group. They wanted to keep 100% completion soloable so everyone can complete it.

It’s a tactic. If it’s really that good, use it yourself.
Don’t forget it’s a trade off, since this player does not actively participate in the battle. These 10 players spread around the map could make a difference for worse or for better depending on circumstances.
In my guild group we’re usually with 20ish people. If we send out 2 scouts, that means a 10% reduction in fighting power. That’s pretty hefty and could be the difference when clashing with another group. It’s up to the commander to decide whether it’s worth it.
Every tactic should have a possible counter move in tactic heavy scenario like WvWvW.
Just like the enemy can get rid of two live scouts if they spot them, they should also be able to get rid of the dead ones.
Indeed, corpse scouting obviously should not be allowed.
Monthly WvW part is very fast to do. Join the zerg for an hour and you are done for that month. I suggest that try it at least once before asking for a change. You might even notice that you like it. I am not a huge PvP fan either, but I started to like www. It is so different than regular 5 min deathmatch battleground.
I’ve never liked any flashy/fiery/silly/overzised looking gear. So I won’t be actively hunting legendaries or any other flashy stuff.
I got luckly and got every area explored in three days without transferring. Our server kinda ruled that week :P

Thieves stealth lasts only 2-4 seconds and break on first hit they do and they cannot stealth again for 3 seconds after. Only shadow refugee is a bit longer but the thief is trapped in that aoe circle during that.
That is how it is supposed to work.
If that perma-stealth thing is happening, problem is something else than mechanics and should be fixed to work as intended.
O have read in some topic, I think it was of the Thief board, that sometimes stealth lasts a lot longer because of rendering lag.
Might be something like that and if that is the case, the thief himself does not even know that he is invisible to the opponent :P

I play every Profession.
All of them.I level to 2 and go straight into PVP.
I do have one level 40 but that was my first toon.Like I said, I love to PVP, but not if this is going to be happening.
It doesn’t matter which one I was playing.
If you are playing every profession, go and do some PvP on your Thief. Figure out how he did it and go practice to do it yourself. Then see what you have to give up and how often you actually manage to do that and is it even as usefull as you think it is.
No resets needed. The game is still so young that the bots haven’t had time to cause so serious problems that it would require a reset to fix. Another point is that I wouldn’t want to lose my own progress and time I’ve spent just because of something that someone else is doing.
Other aspects of gameplay can be changed too without resetting. It is even normal for MMO to do lots of gameplay changes during its lifetime.
Hehe yeah same thing started happening to me but it’s a bit random. Sometimes I see them, sometimes I don’t. Fighting ghosts. Have to watch where my bullets are flying and guess from them where the enemy is

Are you sure the event didn’t fail? DR does not kick in after 2 events in half an hour.
I have never used MF except those few boosters you get as rewards from some quests. I just chose not to use it and use “real” stats instead. Haven’t had problems getting full exotic gear and enough money even without it so I don’t think it is necessary to use it.
If you are thinking wether you should use it or not, maybe do a test. Play a week with MF gear and after that a week without MF and compare the results and playing experience as a whole and choose which one you prefer
I should note I have no problem making friends and getting followers as I can and do stop and type " Hi I am Charr. Charr wants to burn things. Can Charr burn things with you?" usually more than enough for a lovely response and a bit of stand still banter b4 Charr gets to burn things with a new friend.

But I would not burn things with another charr who says “PLLZ HELP WITH HEART” and after 5 minutes starts to complain that there should be forced grouping.
If you can’t find a group or guild, you should look in the mirror, not blame other players or game mechanics.
Learn from the Charr wanting to burn things!
People asking forced grouping so people would be more social sounds like saying “I want to force people to entertain me.”
Are you trying to make friends in real life by forcing them to spend time with you? Or “encouraging” them to be with you promising something to them? Are you trying to invite every stranger you meet at the local shop to spend time with you and be furious if they don’t accept the invitation and think that they are unsocial?
That’s not how it works. You don’t make friends like that.
If you want to group with people and start chatting, go ahead, nothing stops you. There is zero penalty for grouping. There always is a chance that you find someone who wants the same thing. But remember that people also have every right not to do that with you if they choose not to. It’s their free time. They don’t have any obligations to entertain anyone but themselves.
In modern MMO we actually have the luxury to choose how, when and with who we want to play. It’s actually much closer to real social situations than some mechanic forcing you to do something.
Choice is the main word here. In forced grouping times there was no choice how to play. Now there is.
If I group and/or chitchat with someone, I want it is because I want to, not because I have to.

The problem nowadays is you don’t need a group. Do you think people enjoyed looking for groups for hours in EQ1?? No, they did it because they had to, but they met amazing people along the way in the process, which I daresay made the experience more fulfilling than if they had just soloed their way to the top.
It seems MMOs completely skipped the middle ground between “must have a group” and “don’t need a group for 95% of content”
This needs to be said again.
The players of this genre are at a point where they don’t know what’s best for themselves anymore.
If majority of people actually wanted forced grouping, there would be forced grouping in every game.
Aaand I’m pretty sure that people are also free to decide themselves what is best for them.
