What’s the point of creating a group for non-dungeon things? Grouping does not change the mechanics in any way except that you see those faces on top left corner and blue dots on minimap. We are all automatically part of one large group where ever we are. You are grouped with everyone you see.
There is no tagging or shared objectives or anything like that like in other games. You won’t get credit from kills or loot even if you are grouped if you do not attack the mob and if you attack the mob, it does not matter if you are grouped with others or not
One point would be so you & your friends can keep track of each others locations while running around together.
Yes of course it’s different if it’s about friends and guildies. I thought that it was more about random grouping for hearts and de:s and such.

Yea some spam filters are a bit too efficient cleaning automated messages :P
Delay should be only seconds. Has always been for me at least. Usually after the notification that the email has been sent and I open my email, it’s already there.
How about a torch offhand? Thieves operate mostly in dark and everyone does not have infravision :P
For two handed option there could be staff (non-magical). That can also be used as a tool to help thieves to keep balance and assist in leaps when they do their acrobatics
And a staff can be non-lethal weapon. Thieves are thieves, not murderers. :P
Rifle of course would be the new ranged option.
Offhand sword sounds a bit clumsy and something that a thief would not use.

It’s black powder era. Modern weapons wouldn’t really fit in.
I don’t even get it :P
Never trust people you don’t know.
It’s a good basic rule to remember both online and offline :P
Primarily PvE players don’t like it because of the forced PvP. WvW players don’t like it because of space taken up by non-participants. The two should be separated and given different achievements. PvE world completion should remain the Gifts of Exploration. WvW completion could be given a bunch of tokens to get a headstart.
Primarily PvP players don’t like doing forced PvE maps. How about giving the Gifts of Exploration to WvW completion because it is obviously much harder to get and Pve-completion could be rewarded with some blobs of ectoplasm?
See what I did there?
PVE content should NEVER require PVP content and vice-versa.
True, but 100% world completion is not purely PVE content in a world that has PvP it in.
It is combined.
@Clem
I’ve been lvl 80 for maybe three weeks now, can’t remember exactly. Fully exotic geared anyway, 2 Karma pieces, rest is self made and I haven’t even bought almost any materials to level my professions (lw & jewel) or the items. I’ve farmed everything myself. Story chain completed. I have about 100k karma right now after I spent that 84k to those two 2 karma pieces. Haven’t really farmed karma. I almost never do the same DE twice in a row. Just doing them when ever I happen to run by one, or some nice chain is starting like the Orr temples and dragons.
Never seen DR:s.
(edited by Ameepa.6793)
I’m a bit confused too why the DR system is suddenly so big deal? I have never even noticed it during my play sessions which varies between 2-8 hours.
Last night there were lots of complaining about it on Orr general channel. I was there running around looking for new orichalcum places for maybe 2 hours. During that time I gathered everything, killed lots of things, did every DE I happened to run by and one temple DE chain. Then I proceeded to kill a dragon and after that I went to farm trolls for blood for about one hour. I didn’t get any DR:s during that ~4 hour session.
Luckily I saved the coat and pants rewards because I liked the skin and using them on exotics now. Didn’t even know that they were unique until I started to look for more to alternative set some time ago.
I’m just afraid that getting only cosmetic rewards from raids wouldn’t satisfy people for long and the next step would be people starting to demand better gear as rewards and after that more and more only raid content at the cost of everything else. That same old pattern.
I have always been a raider but I’ve grown tired of that system. That’s what I ment that it is fresh not to have raids and that all content is free for all. There are plenty of games with the traditional focus on gearing up tier after tier. This one is something new, something different, at least for now.
I don’t miss raids one bit.
Every single one of other MMOs have them and are focused around them. It’s fresh not to have them. How long do you think the fun of those dungeons is going to last?
How would I know? That depends on the player. Someone enjoys doing something longer than someone else and someone doesn’t like something at all. I can of course make a wild guess based on other games. In those I’ve seen people running dungeons pretty much forever. Always some group looking for more.

No it’s not based on weapon damage. It’s fixed about 470 dmg/heal per proc
Playing normally as Anet wants us to play, we will make about 1.5G per day staying in 1 zone provided you do about 30 or 40 DE as well in the day. At level 80, a medium range port costs 2-3 silver. That is more than 15% of your daily revenue for a 1 way trip.
In real world terms, if you make $1500 a month, your bus travel to work will cost you ~$200 to go to work. Another $200 to go back. Your public transport cost is $400. You only earn $1500. that is assuming you port to a map and stay there the whole day and port back at the end of the day. Likely, you will port somewhere else at least once or twice so your travel cost can end up looking like $6000 $800 on travel per month out of 1500 pay.
it’s very expensive.
A little error there. 2-3 silver out of 1.5g is not over 15%, it’s over 1,5%
1.5g = 150 silver. 3 silver out of 150 silver is 2%So those work trips are only 20$
The bus driver is price gouging by 900% lol, and getting away with it. I want his job!
You’re too fast! edited in the “20 trips, 1$ each thing”

150% base means the base multiplier without any bonuses from gear or traits.
-100 dmg hit will crit for 150 dmg (100 * 1.5)
Power makes your hits higher.
-120 dmg hit will crit for 180 dmg (120 * 1.5)
% Critical Damage affects your critical multiplier. For example your gear gives you +20% critical damage, your multiplier will be 150% + 20% = 170%
-100 dmg hit will crit for 170 dmg (100 * 1.7)
Precision only affects how often you will crit.
So both, power and % critical damage, affects the size of your crits. Just in different way. You need both to maximize them.
1. type in any amount of gold
2. use calculator
3. type in right amount of gold
I don’t think that you need exactly Naga magnitude mouse but having some thumb buttons is a real improvement. After all gw2 has so few buttons that you cannot even fill a whole Naga. Nagas are designed for “standard” MMO that has easily over 20 buttons you need to bind.
I like using logitech mx500/mx518 series mouses with two thumb buttons.
Really awesome idea!
I’d say that if the item is a big upgrade for you, buy it. Those low level items are quite cheap.
Lvl 80 gear costs 42.000 per piece, so it doesn’t matter that much if you use few thousand karma on the way there. If you even need those
Yep, only Anet can answer that and they probably won’t.
It always surprises me how RPG player can have a complete lack of imagination.
I also tried to take it slow but it is not possible in this game because everything you do gives you levels and fast. Only way would be just standing in Lion’s Arch doing absolutely nothing.
Farm materials for few hours and BAM you just gained two levels, use those materials and BAM 3 levels. Explore 100% that other race’s starting area and come back with three more levels. Couple of story missions and congratulations, you just dinged twice.
My point is just that regular “taking it slowly” does not work here. It’s pretty much the same amount of hours to level to 80 no matter what you do. Only difference is how many hours per day you play.
Everyone knows what words are “forbidden” and can lead to a ban. Even those who use them know that very well before they write them. Still they decide to do it. I don’t know why. Maybe because they think it’s cool to write bad words, maybe they want to annoy people, I don’t know. Then they whine about getting a punishment.
There is a simple solution. If you don’t want to get banned, don’t write bad words.
There is absolutely zero reasons to use those. You cannot even say that it was an accident because it is impossible to write anything by accident. Accidents and slips might happen when talking out loud but not in writing.
I think you are screwed if you opend the boxes, because Anet has no way to physicly manifest themself in the world and handle out boxes to people
Heh, they made the whole game and they have a way to do anything in it. They can even make a huge dragon wearing a bunny suit swooping suddenly from the skies bringing you gifts if they want.
Would be cool…
You take armor damage only if you have to return to a waypoint.
Kitten filter is the most awesome filter I’ve ever seen :P
Only thing better than a kitten filter would be if we wouldn’t need a filter at all. But that will never happen. It’s just sooo cool to write curses in places where other people can see them.
Check Dulfy’s nice listing of all Karma mechant sets and their locations.
Yes it is possible to play on as many computers as you want. I’m playing on two different computers, desktop and laptop. You can even copy paste the client from machine to machine. Your account is not computer dependant. Authorization always needed when you log in from new IP.
So technically it is possible but the question is that do you really want to give your account information to anyone? I never would.
The final boss was great (not the dungeon one, I mean the one from before that - SPOILERS)

Yep, it indeed is fun fight and feels epic
I really wish for an option for this too.
A lot of people keep that “For great justice!” on autofire even in cities. It’s very very annoying to try to craft or browse the trading post when there’s 2-3 people going “For great justice!” every 15 seconds
Hehe yeah I guess the story itself is something like 20-30h game time.
“Also note that NPCs can only revive if they’re not in combat.”
Only time I got ressed by NPC was by Trahearne and it happened IN combat.
I was really really surprised. Even more so now after knowing that.

“I can outrun a centaur!” when you get ganked by them :P
Agreed, the story is short. I finished the story when my charracter was 20 days old.
Are you talking about /age (total played) or just that you created the character 20 days ago? If it is 20 days PLAYED, I’m actually pretty impressed that the story lasted for 480h gaming time :P
Too late for screenshots, finished the story yesterday
Did 7-8 last quests in a row and it really was always the first line, or the first line of every actor if there were multiple. Can’t provide quotes or screenshots anymore.
Has any of the dialog changed? That was the cause of it in the beta.
I don’t think that is the reason. At least for me the missing dialog was always the first line in every cutscene and if there were multiple people appearing during the cutscene, it was always their first lines.
Duoing the eye of Zhaitan was epic, I can’t imagine people trying to solo play it.
Not that hard to solo, just takes a long time, but it indeed is quite epic
Yep started to happen after last patch. Every dialog worked before that.
Yeah just completed the story and opened my boxes.. immediately came here
Bunch of lvl 30ish blues and 1 green.
I really hope the fix will be retroactive.
I have wondered the use of runes a bit too because you can get more stats with seals/crests/gems, so what’s the point of using the whole set of majors.
For example:
Major rune of the Fighter 4/4
-50 power and 35 toughness
4x Seals of the Soldier
-44 power, 34 toughness AND 34 vitality
So at the cost of 6 power and 1 toughness, you gain 34 vitality
Looks like you’ve made up your mind already. If plowing through mobs as fast as possible is the only thing you are looking for, then you really should listen to others and select the class that has the most dps even if it’s not fun class to play.
I don’t really understand why you want to do that but then again, I don’t have to
(edited by Ameepa.6793)
Well that is the core of the problem isn’t it? Whoever designed these seems to have forgotten that the game has multiple professions.
Can’t really say that because even in this thread there has been every class mentioned for not having any serious problems, so at least it should be doable for all.
If the overall difficulty is too high, or something is too hard just for some class, it’s the fault of the beta (and other) testers, not the designers. Designers cannot really evaluate their own designs because they know exactly how every encounter is supposed to be done.
Corpse run? Corpse collecting? O_o Am I missing something?
I would like to know this too.
I’ve never noticed any corpse run option
i personally hate super-gigantic-flaming-spikey-glowing-ridiculously-dyed weapons/armor.
so i feel the exact opposite way about this than you.
i also dont feel the need to show off as you say. but most of my friends dont get it, lol.
I get you very well. I have exactly the same opinion.
Simple look and steel daggers are the way to go :P
