Let’s keep in mind that the game is supposed to be fun. Not a struggle with frustration. Any time you wanted to punch your screen in frustration, that should’ve told you something was wrong.
We pay ANet to be entertained . . . not annoyed and frustrated with content.
The reason why your hearing ‘whines’ and ‘complaints’ is because people still want to play and enjoy the game. The moment the forums die of this, it means it’s over. People have given up and stopped playing to play or do something else.
And believe me . . . complaining it better than dead silence for any MMO company.
Good thread. /bump
zi disagree with your post.
Also I must point out that the Empire State Building was built for precisely that reason: they could fit the number of people of 100 pieces of real estate into one piece of real estate. That’s a major reason for why ALL skyscrapers are built.
But we aren’t calling it 103 buildings, now are we? Feel free to disagree all you like, but the bottom line it’s four maps with varying levels or depths . . . not 12 or so maps.
There’s not getting around this one.
I’m not 100% sure it is fixed. At least for mobs. Was killing the Treasure Mushroom in the Glade yesterday, and a bristleback was doing his kitten est to kill me.
I was a little higher up than it, and not one of its spikes hit me . . . they all flew through.
Just tried that one an hour ago. I barely made it to silver after more than few tries. Ironically, I watched Dulfy try it too while I was there. I’m assuming she’s recording it for another guide.
After three days, I finally managed to get 1:17 with A Fungus Among Us.
Never. Ever. Again.
Central Tyria’s maps are infinitely better than the maps in HoT. I am not talking about the difficulty level of the enemies just the map design itself.
Agreed. I’m kind of surprised anyone thinks the HoT maps are better. But I will admit I’ve enjoyed Tangled Depths the most . . . as hellish as it can be.
Finally broke down and tried to get that WvW spoon for my collection. Man, it was Tumbleweed City. Really surprised at how deserted the map was. Guess people weren’t exaggerating.
I’ve heard that arguement too, and it doesn’t make sense. Because something is above ground or underground doesn’t make it another map. It makes it another level of the same map.
Using that logic, almost every map in Warcraft is actually three maps. Above ground, ground, and underground or underwater.
Sorry, but most of us aren’t buying that it’s three maps or more because of elevation. That’s like saying the Empire State Building is 103 buildings because it has that many floors, a basement, and an observatory.
My apologies, but it’s still one building and HoT only has four maps in this so-called ‘expansion.’

Wait. There’s no voting or committee? It’s just one guy’s opinion? Pffft.
One.
For most of them, silver should be easy to acquire on your first attempt and gold for a few of them. You only need to memorize a video if you lack the sense to figure something out yourself. The Floor is Lava is the only one that really requires an optimized path for gold.
This kind of backhanded insult earns you no favors. And I challenge anyone to earn silver, much less gold, on adventures like A Fungus Among Us or On Wings of Gold . . . on their first attempt no less.
Keep in mind, to earn both mastery points, you need gold. No one is arguing that Silver is impossible. I am arguing that in order to earn gold on some of them, you need to all but memorize the path and patterns.
I guess most of us ‘lack the sense’ to know how to do something and earn a reward the instant we first attempt it. Silly, I know.
That said, there’s a reason the word ‘elitism’ is being thrown around on the forums these days.

Yes, they’ve said after the expansion Living World Season 3 will follow. Living World is supposed to buffer the time between expansions.
Now whether that happens or not, given recent events and complaints everywhere, is another story.
-I will Never touch a mini game AGAIN!
- No replay value, (thats what you want from your game, players to say…“my god I’m finally done with that garbage…. I WILL NEVER do that again.”)I imagine a lot of people will have that sentiment.
What are the rewards for completing Adventures after the mastery point?
A smattering of XP, and lame loot drops: blue, green, and rare.
..woo.
Exactly. Once I finally got gold with a mini-game, I’ll never touch it again. ANet really needs to adjust the gold requirement or at least make the rewards more desireable.
Confirmed: Toxicity in Gw2 equals wasteland

From what I’ve seen, overall, my server is still kind to a fault. In fact, I saw a player leading people in a train to Heroic Points in Tangled Depths. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are more kittens than usual with the free-to-play model.
Especially in PvP.
But I don’t believe the overall climate is ‘toxic.’ But, I will admit, anytime there’s failure of an event . . . blood feelings do tend to come out.
I’d be more concerned at how many of the maps are looking more and more abandoned during prime time. . . .
Yeah, not loving it either. Hope they adjust some of these mini games to make the achievements a little less impossible for some of us.
Memorizing YouTube videos to gain success isn’t exactly fun.

I’m seriously not trying to hate, but are they even playing the same game? My God. They awarded ESO with best MMO of the year? There must be nothing else out there in MMO land…
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I played two betas of ESO. After that, I stopped. It’s the first game I’ve ever beta tested and didn’t buy the game later . . . if that tells you anything.
Honestly? The requirement for gold, in some of the adventures, needs to be toned down. While I’ve seen videos with players doing some exceptional plays, please realize that’s not the norm . . . again, it’s the exception.
Something that’s supposed to be fun, should never be frustrating or a chore to do . . . mastery points, achievements, or otherwise.
No, it’s not “forced”, but most of them certainly aren’t fun either . . . in my humble opinion.
Yes, it basically gives permanent swiftness. It will even override situations that are supposed to slow you down. For example, if you run the orb in Spirit Watch, you’ll keep that speed.
It’s awesome.
Honestly? I’ve never had an issue with that class. Ever. My most feared opponents are Burn Guardians, Greatsword Mesmers who know what they’re doing, and Life-Stacking/Life-Sucking Necros . . . in that order.
The rest are free points.
And yes, that includes revenants. And no, I’m not telling you my traits, skills, or gear. I’ve eaten enough nerfs this year, thank you.
Again, it does depend on the traits, skill, and equipment used by the mesmer. Those in the know can be devastating in a PvP. The rest? They make great free points for me.
Yeah, if you’re using the 64-bit, you can hang it up for the night.
Downloading this update is the slowest I’ve seen so far.
Depends on the mesmer. If it’s a greatsword mesmer with a shatter/condition build? Hell yes, it’s overpowered. Not as overpowered as a burn guardian, but that’s another topic.
I suppose now would be a bad time to say I soloed this and got all three achievements. . . .
If you think Brink is bad, God help you when you get to Tangled Depths. . . .
The pet classes make life much easier in PvE. If they’re beating on the pet, they ain’t beating on you.
Honestly? I don’t want them changing it. Not because you suggestion is bad. But because every time they change something, it bugs, ends up broken, or turns out useless.
Smokescale for the win.
I like ranger because I can pretty much solo almost everything and my survivability is awesome. Also, and this is jaded, but I love players who tell me I suck (in PvP) while I stand over their corpse.
No one expects a ranger to kick their kitten.
It’s not that they don’t know how, it’s that they don’t care and just choose the easiest path of least resistance.
I wouldn’t doubt for a second that they simply copy/pasted the code for Lingering Light’s 12s cool down because it was super simple and would make the problem disappear.* Whether or not it left the trait in a usable state is frankly irrelevant to them.
*May not be true but would explain the otherwise arbitrary time value and unnecessary, massive nerf to the only pet that was ever used with it.
Sounds about right.
Well, to be fair, they did fix two things that went wrong with druid in the last patch pretty fast.
1. If I did Heart of Thorns, I would delay the release to give classes and quests the proper testing and bug fixes they needed.
2. I’d end all gatewaying as far as map exploration.
3. Access to all hero points, mastery points, and any point would not be based on access to any masteries. Access would be gained based on skill, insight, and perseverance.
4. I would not have achievements in the game that were not accessible nor impossible because I didn’t put them in the game for some reason.
5. Success on any achievement would not be based around failure.
6. I would communicate more openly with my customers.
7. I would add Hearts to the expansion much like in the core game.
8. I would not make my maps a convoluted mess.
9. I would remove meta events and replace them with events similar to the other bosses throughout the world.
10. I would completely overall Legendary Crafting.
And NONE of my skill balances in PvE would be based on the actions or complaints in PvP!
Ah. Thanks for confirming what was actually happening, Anduriell.
You are so blindfolded with your “ranger hate” that you will ignore anything people will tell you and keep focusing on other things desperately trying to make a point.
The two threads you linked me were created 5 and 2 months ago. Yes rangers do have bugs, but so do most of the classes and so does the content in general. All MMO’s have bugs, especially when they are not even 2 months away from expansions.
“Broken” means that you can’t play the class. Broken means that it’s gamebreaking either in overpowered or underpowered way. Druid was broken when AF was depleting when out of combat for example. Druid was broken when Smokescale was able to do 18k damage in 2 seconds.
The current ranger is far from broken. Rangers are able to compete on the top level in all 3 game modes. End of story, no matter how desperately you try to prove the opposite.
You really shouldn’t speak out of turn. Ranger is my only class. Let me repeat that: My. Only. Class.
So I do not ‘hate’ ranger. Nor am I ‘blindfolded’ with my ‘ranger hate’ which is a ridiculous thing to say. That random, shotgun blast of assumption may work on some. But you targeted the wrong poster this time. Just because I play my class, to even award-winning levels, does not mean the class isn’t without glaring bugs, issues, and/or ‘broken’ issues.
This is not the place to argue semantics. You are one voice out of the many on this and other forums that say otherwise. So please excuse us when we take your insult-laden rant less than seriously.
I am not trying to prove anything. But I am saying you are wrong. And we have the continuous nerfs and game-breaking bugs to prove it. And the idea that you think something from five or two months ago, that still aren’t fixed, doesn’t give it a pass because of any amount of time.
Those issues? They are still broken. They aren’t fixed. End of story.
Sorry if you don’t like that fact, but it is a fact. But feel free to continue to tell the community otherwise with anecdotal ramblings.
It’s no worse than the nerfs and increased bugs we suffer with each patch.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Reddit. If we have to go there to find answers and responses, while the ‘official’ forums is dead of developer replies . . . I think the answer is glaringly obvious.
But treating those who genuinely wanted to complete the event for whatever reason with hostility is wrong doesn’t promote a friendly gaming environment, and nobody wins when the player base turns toxic towards one another. When these sorts of situations come up, it’s best to direct your ire towards those kittenponsible. Just be sure to do so in a respectful and constructive manner.
Excuse me. Didn’t the other players want to complete their event as well? Using this logic, the people killing the mobs they were waiting for was just as hostile? And they even asked the person(s) to stop.
In other words, no one wins. And it’s why ANet needs to reverse this direction. Now.
They’re the one creating the toxic environment with this requirement of failure. Not the people trying to complete the quest on either side.
Well now that you’ve let that out of the bag, it’ll get nerfed next patch.
Let’s be brutally honest: ANet doesn’t know how to fix certain bugs or issues. Instead, they’ll make the ability in question moot . . . or ignore it.
They’ve even admitted it.
For example, the forum search engine and top page bug is ongoing. Why? Because the guy who made the forum quit. So, instead of creating a new forum and hiring a new guy, they let this issue sit for over three years now.
That is the reason many of the issues we see still exist.
They have no idea how to fix them. And previous attempts to ‘fix’ issues created even more bugs.
But God forbid someone dies in PvP to a ranger or druid . . . that’ll get ‘fixed’ in record time.
Forum fix . . . irony given the topic of fixes and bugs. . . .
Obviously, this issue needs to be fixed. Requiring an event to ‘fail’ in order to achieve a reward makes no sense. I mean . . . seriously? Earning a reward for failure might be cute in the Darwin Awards, but not in an MMO.
The class is way far from being broken. You just don’t like it, that’s all.
I’d like you to read the following and think again on that comment.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Ranger-bugs-9/first
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Druid-Bugs-merged/first
Now please read the front page of this forum. Just look at the titles. Now ask yourself: is the class really “far from broken”?
I have no idea what creates this level of blind devotion, but it needs to stop. It’s definitely not helping anyone to pretend there aren’t grave issues with the class and the constant nerfs the company rather give than fixes.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I think it safe to say, Guild Wars 2 is my favorite MMO to date. I’ve played it longer than any other MMO to include that one which shall remain nameless. I play GW2 every day.
But the answer is no.
Not right now. Maybe in the future when ANet stops pretending to be Mythic with these nonsense decisions and nerfs. But as of today? No. I would not recommend any new player, or any returning player, invest time or income in the game.
And I really hate writing that.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Another poster mentioned it elsewhere, but it seems the bristleback’s issues with not hitting targets on differing planes is fixed.
So . . . there’s that.
Did they? I shelved mine, but I normally use smokescale. I’ll test it and see.
Edit: Sure enough, they did.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
This better be a joke or you’re seeing something off. Otherwise, another Hot Fix better happen ASAP.
I’ll test this and see.
Edit: I can’t replicate this one. Can anyone else confirm?
