(1) The pumpkin head Moa in the preview image, how to get?
(2) what is the Gyve of Madness and how to get?
(3) Are all of the materials to make Night Fury in game? Will Anet just go ahead and tell us the recipe so rumor mongers can stop ripping players off?
(4) What’s in the Mystic Chests? Are these the same mystic chests that dropped in 2012, dropping mostly junk but also materials for a mystic forge conduit?
(5) Are there recipes to craft the new weapons (there should be)
1. There’s a chance you can get this from the chest after you complete ‘Mad King Says’. You can also buy it on the Trading Post.
2. It’s a shoulder skin. Still not in the game as far as I know.
3. Yes, and some people are wearing Nightfury now.
4. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Chest
5. Yes and no. But we do know more are on the way as well.
Yep, even with the delays, people have cruised through the content and have left some maps deserted. God help you if you play the game during off-hours or have a job, family, or other requirements.
Agreed, ‘iterate’ the rest of the maps.
Honestly, the need to ‘grind’ for certain masteries is beyond annoying. It’s simply a delaying gateway to prevent players from rushing through the game. That’s my biggest complaint so far . . . gatewaying certain achievements and accomplishments behind a requirement of some mastery like Poison or some other nonsense.
It’s not a ‘Chinese’ influence, but more of a ‘slow them down so they don’t gobble up the limited content there is’ influence.
It doesn’t help that meta completion on certain maps, to gain access to other parts of the map, is required as well.
And no, that’s not casual friendly either.

True.
“General Bug Fixing, Polish, Balance, Performance, Etc.
As we continue to monitor Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ on live, we’ll keep pushing out bug fixes and polish and performance updates. We’ve reached a point where these will come bundled together in larger, less frequent updates as we prepare for the activation of additional expansion features. We’ll also be releasing limited balance updates to fix really key game-breaking issues. Once every quarter, we’ll release a new, major balance update to shake up the meta for the next quarter."ú
This is from the blog post, aka nothing will change for a LONG while
Sadly, I think the ranger/druid community expected this. But at least they stopped with the day-to-day nerfs.
Edit:
why? just get a thief.
This is not helpful nor constructive to the discussion. Please keep it civil.

What Fluffball said. If the target is on a higher level, a lot of times the attacks go right through the target and don’t hit at all.
I’ve also seen this occur in PvE. I’ve stood on a ledge while a veteran bristleback shot at me. I’ve watched all the ‘spikes’ shoot through me, but not one hit.
So, apparently, it’s an issue with the targeting system and not just the pet or mob.
He meant to say exactly what he said , and Eura is actually the creator of this thread and top level PvP player, So this coming from him says a lot.
Actually, he is making a point about this:
This pet was amazing. Was its damage too high? Yes. But what is it that really made this pet good? The smoke field. So, by nerfing the damage by 50% (which, I can live with) AND removing the ability to call on the smokefield when needed is asinine. Smoke field should, without a doubt, be the F2 for this pet.
For the general population, maybe Smoke Assault is better. But for those of us in the know about our rangers and druids, we understand why the ability to choose Smoke Screen is better in a pinch.
As Terminal suggests, having the pet randomly stop attacking to drop Smoke Screen doesn’t make sense . . . especially when you can have Smoke Assault all the time on a shorter cooldown.
Hopefully, this will be addressed and fixed soon.

I had a geek moment when I realized where I was from the Guild Wars 1: the waterfall area. Seeing the spirit druid again was also a bonus. Nice touch.
This solution would make both camps happy, but it’s unlikely given certain programming issues I’ve heard about with ANet. Still, it is a good suggestion.
Had the exact same issue with smokescale. Had it one whole day before they nerfed it. My wife and I camped that sight for over two hours too. . . .
I get the feeling a lot rangers didn’t play the smokescale in its original form live nor in beta. Exactly what Firelysm said. +1 Not even a question.
Do not underestimate the power of a pet teleporting to the target and not having to chase it down. We lose a lot of DPS when the pet is busy simply trying to reach the target.
More than you know.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
The reason I like it is because I can chase down enemies that are trying to escape. With a smokescale, I can simply have my pet burst down their low hp as they try to run. It is an assassin pet.
If there is to be a on-demand smokefield, put it on some other pet.
You are fully aware that the pet has this ability, on a shorter timer, all the time with it’s original state as generic attacks . . . right? That is before this change? So, in essence, you’re asking for the pet to be what it was before . . . but better than it is now.
The smokescreen is now casting without your say-so and denying you that burst without any control from you. Again, you know this right?
Therein lies the reason rangers/druids want the smokescale back the way it was: more control over the smokescreen and more teleporting-burst DPS.
I also only have one toon. Yes, ranger/druid. But, after so many years of this nonsense, I’m used to it and hope they’ll re-adjust upward.
That said it’s been a week, and I’m hoping some of these ‘kneejerk’ nerfs will be adjusted and addressed with upcoming patches.
I know, I know. But, like I said before, I’m used to this nonsense. Here’s hoping for the best again, yet expecting the worse as always.
Can’t have rangers be dangerous in PvP after all.
The game crashes every time players face a boss. Never happened before, but now it’s expected. FYI – Tuning your ingame graphic options to ‘performance’ helps prevent this … most of the time.
Fix skill lag when there’s a massive battle going on. It’s been over a year now.
Also, stop nerfing abilities based on PvP gameplay. Make separate patches for PvP and PvE. Nerfing PvE abilities because someone died in PvP makes no sense.
Period.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
You don’t know that you can actually use Smokescale – smoke assault can be triggered on demand even if it’s not F2, right? This F2 pet swap shows, how little our community knows about our pets and skills on demand.
Was going to say something similar, but you nailed it. People, we’re not losing smoke assault. The pet will return to using it as a basic attack ever few seconds. That’s how it was before . . . albeit with less damage now.
This is what ANet does with rangers: They will nerf a skill to near uselessness, and then over the course of two or three years, very, very slowly add little buffs to make that skill a little more useful . . . or re-tune it in some bizarre way . . . or not touch it at all.
Spirits, hyena, bleed builds, short bow, long bow, etc.
That’s not hyperbole. That’s ranger history. Your answer is no. But they will tweak some things to keep the natives from getting too restless.
The PvP community isn’t used to seeing a ranger class able to hold its own. They’re used to us being free kills. And they’re not happy about that change.
Thus the massive gutting of skills and pets.
And if you’re in doubt? Ranger is King of Underwater PvP combat. Do you know what happened to all the underwater combat in PvP including a certain PvP map?
There’s your answer.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Disagree. Please revert it to the way it was. I would like to pick and choose when smokescreen happens for reasons mentioned repeatedly.
No, no more being calm about this nonsense. It’s beyond ridiculous at this point. And you know what’s sad? We expect more nerfs.
Again, one beta test for a class will result in this kind of nonsense.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I was under the impression that the main thrust of the game was based around the storyline and PvE. It’s kind of why druid was brought to the table. To help with dungeons and future raiding content. But, according to Snow, it’s actually based around PvP.
Hmm. So Guild Wars 2 is a PvP game? Good to know.
Yeah, I saw that thread on the PvP forum as well. It’s not a coincidence to me that every nerf we’ve eaten has had a thread based around it a day or three prior . . . every time.
If that’s serendipity, it’s a hell of a thing.
And yes, expect Ancient Seeds to get nerfed too.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
At this rate, I get the feeling many of the ranger/druid community may be moving onto other pastures. But I hope you’re right. I’d love an advanced beastmaster.
For the time being, I would seriously consider playing another class. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have never touched ranger. It’s a good class, if and when the developers figure out what they actually want the class to be. Druid is a whole ‘nother nightmare. And, realistically, we’re still beta testing the class.
Don’t get that twisted. It’s the truth. We’ve had it for one beta test, and then it went live. That’s a big reason for some of these bizarre and radical changes.
But, again for right now, I don’t think they do know what they want druid to be given the recent events and ‘fixes’ put at our feet.
We are considered one of the weakest classes, yet we seem to get the most nerfs, no buffs to speak of, and we see the least amount of bug fixes . . . another topic you don’t want to hear about.
So, yes, my recommendation is play another class if you want to play Guild Wars 2 at all.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Honestly, my enjoyment of the overall game is flatlining. Again, one beta test for a class is going to result in this level of nonsense. Like Sir Warriant said, I’ve also never seen anything like this in the many games I’ve played over twenty years.
Even Mythic wasn’t this heavy-handed and quick with the nerfs.
If this keeps up, I’ll be moving on as well. It makes no sense for me to play a game, much less pay for items in the gemstore, when you nerf the heals and healing on your so-called ‘healing class’ based on the mind-numbing complaints of PvPers who died.
Please stop basing your ‘adjustments’ on PvP. It’s killing the class you want to use to keep everyone else alive in raids and dungeons for PvE.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Apparently, Ancient Seeds is next on the chopping block because someone complained about it on the PvP boards.
Next patch: Druid healing to be removed. They’ll turn into a tree and stand there so you can just kill them.
Oh look. Another thread of tears that got another druid trait nerfed. Called it.
Let me answer your question with a question: when was the last time you’ve heard a PvE mob complain about any class’s abilities or powers?
There’s your answer.
But, if you’re in doubt, feel free to read some of the threads on the PvP forum.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
The fact that Anet makes such drastic changes when balancing skills makes me wonder if they do ANY internal testing at all before throwing it into the game.
Given the recent situations, I think the answer is obvious.
And other classes wonder why rangers are so bitter. How many nerfs is this in the last week? Utterly ridiculous.
Wow. Another nerf. Color me as shocked . . . not. Seriously, not happy with how the class is getting treated and less than happy with this nonstop nonsense. Again, very obvious they’re basing their decisions around PvP . . . again.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Yikes. I stand corrected.
I want BWE3 Druid back so I can have fun again on the Druid.
Look, ANet has become like all the other MMO companies out there.
This expansion proofs that Guild Wars is no longer about fun and choices, but about how to stretch content and gate stuff behind mindless grinds. Sounds familiar?
This happens, when passionated developers become businessmen. When the desire to create something awesome becomes the desire to create profit.
This expansion is not about fun, it is about making the most coin with the least amount of content possible.
Sorry, the BWE3 druid is not coming back, it was there to hype people to pre-order the expansion.
It worked, you spent your money.
This. 1000 times.
I think some people missed your sarcasm there, Jim. That said, only time I’ve seen a faster ranger ‘update’ is when they fixed the longbow giving buffs. And that took a week or two.
Good times.
Honestly, I think this was the fastest nerf I’ve ever seen in any game to a class.
Ranger: The Charlie Brown of Guild Wars 2.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Too late. But, with some adapting, I’m finding the new smokescreen pretty good as far as pet survival.
Hah! I knew it. Less than three days out the gate, and PvP players’ demands nerfed the only good pet. And, in the meanwhile, rangers still have the biggest bug list to date.
I think this is the first MMO I’ve ever seen players scream nerf for a pet.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Thanks.
incoming nerf in 3… 2….
Hah! Sad, but pretty accurate apparently.
So good it already has its own hate thread.
The second I saw that pet on the reveal I knew it was going to be whined about. Now it’s only a matter of time to se how long it takes to be nerfed.
Seriously? A pet hate thread? Where is it?
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I said this elsewhere, but I get the feeling this change is based around PvP. In the only beta we got, we couldn’t select any of the new pets because of a bug. Now, with them available, opposing players are seeing a ranger/druid they’re not liking . . . especially with a pet that will teleport to your location as you try to run away.
Thus. . . .
After some massive testing, I cannot begin to express how much this change alters things. For one, the teleporting ability for the Smokescale cannot be underestimated. Now, like all other pets except range, the pet must chase down the target. That’s a lot of damage lost while the pet now tries to target the mob or player.
I have the sneaking suspicion this change is based on events that happen in PvP as PvE mobs tend not to complain.
Regardless, it feels like a gutting of the pet . . . which it pretty much is. Again, please reverse this.
It’s completely unacceptable.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Agreed. Again, this is what you get for testing a class one time before release. Seeing trend that’s not pretty with rangers and druids with this expansion.
Sigh. I was wondering what was happening, why my pet was doing less damage, and why the pet was doing the F2 attack on its own for no reason.
Lovely. Just lovely.
Finally got the Smokescale in the location described by the OP. Tier three. I camped my character near the spot and took a nap. My wife played on her character, but watched my screen.
Two of them showed up about two hours later, she said. Yes, first come, first serve, which is unbelievable given the circumstances . . . but she and I got them.
Good luck everyone.
Sitting at smokescale location. Almost to tier four (or maxed) and nothing…
Edit: Did the entire tier to completion and got the rewards. The juvenile smokescales never spawned. Will try the SCAR area later.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Thank you. Sariel V’s trick seemed to work.
Hah! Called it from last year. Thank you, ANet! Now to farm for that candy.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Ditto.
The scouts aren’t offering a glider for the white wings like they are for the black wing set.
Pretty clear reason why you need more than one beta test on a class. Here’s to hoping it a massive bug.
Been looking as well, but no luck so far.
