Why is it I seem to see these posts every Tuesday?
Because people are bored and subconsciously miss living world with it’s two week release of new content. But they wanted an expansion and that means not a lot of staff working on current content. Oh well.
Give that man a prize.
Until we see the class in action, it’s all pure speculation.
Worse decision ever. I remember a comment from the designer of the fountain some years ago. His comment was made after the fountain was first destroyed. I cannot find the exact words, but he stated it took a huge amount of time and effort to make the fountain work properly and how he really hoped it wasn’t all for nothing.
I’ll leave it at that.
No doubt it’ll return for Wintersday.

More than one map in expansion confirmed

This all seems so strange to me. I’ve played MMOs, and their like, as far as I can remember. And never, in all that time, was there a discussion about the number of maps or a lack thereof. You just don’t see it.
But in Guild Wars 2?
It’s a huge topic of contention. And if that doesn’t tell you something, nothing will. On that note, WoW is about to announce another expansion next week.
I don’t think the number of maps will be in question with that one either. Though, granted, I won’t be playing it.
Again, thank you for this thread and list. Hopefully, the healing issues will be dealt with and fixed . . . especially Healing Spring.
I’m talking about the associations of what each dragon did to each race and their connections story-wise. For example, Zhaitan destroyed Orr and most of his ‘minions’ are humans of a sort. The only reason we know about ‘Bubbles’ is because of the Asura research in Mount Maelstrom (sp). As far as the Charr – think fire . . . fire shamans . . . and their history.
Again, I’m not saying it’s written in stone, but pure speculation. As far as sylvari not being linked to Mord . . . really? Are we playing the same game?
But I will admit I don’t know much about Kralkatorric, so yes Char fit more nicely with him in hindsight.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Why exactly do you think Jormag will be next? I have not found any evidence of this in game and the only thing I think could suggest that imo is a theory that jormag’s tooth in hoelbrak is going to be broken by Braham. I am just curious as to why you think Jormag is the next dragon because I have seen that theory several times.
It’s a fair question. Given that Jormag represents ‘green’ and ‘vegetation’ or indirectly ‘spring’, once you kill that . . . winter follows. And who represents winter? Also, the story so far follows the races very closely.
Humans = Zhaitan
Sylvari = Mordremoth
Norn = Jormag
Charr = Primordus
Asura = Bubbles (albeit indirectly through their research)
Plus, the norn have Jormag’s story set and ready to go with the base/plot foundation as seen in their introduction. Granted, all this is speculation, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Brahm’s Great Hunt involved Jormag.
So, if ANet follows their racial stories, as they have so far, it’s most likely Jormag given Kralkatorrik was something already used with Destiny’s Edge. Don’t want to repeat that too soon.
Again, all pure speculation. But from a plotting point-of-view, as a writer, this would make the most sense as a logical followup.

I’d bet money that Jormag is next . . . given the circumstances. Probably after Jory we’ll hear something of Krack. Bubbles will definitely be last since almost everyone seems to hate underwater content.
I’m still hopeful for Christmas, but I’m not betting on it either. Anyone who thinks the expansion is coming in September has a lot of wishful thinking. At this rate, definitely 2016. But when depends on the testing and polishing rate. I still want a finished product. Not a rushed one.
On a side note, if there was any MMOs on the horizon worth a kitten , Guild Wars 2 would be in trouble.
Serious. Trouble.
Depends on how cheap you are, how much time you have on your hands, and the item you’re farming.
I can only speak from my own experience, but overall? No. Not at all.
Before the expansion, the near continuous story, special, and seasonal updates. Always something new.
Heck yes! Definitely Mechanical Devourer!

I think it’s pretty sad when players are excited that there will be ‘more than one map’ in any expansion. That said . . . woot. An unknown number, but greater than two.
Thrilling.
Honestly? I’m doubtful, but hopeful. Guess we’ll see. I’d love something like the Wind Rider as pet too . . . with jellyfish healing.
Man, people really will complain about everything. . . .
Please don’t change the mini, ANet!
Love it, love it, love it.
We don’t know yet. But, after that heart-to-heart with Braham in the last Living World episode . . . a lot of people predicted Eir’s end. Again, we won’t know for sure until the expansion.
I love this mini so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you, ANet for making it available for NA and EU players!
Even so, I bet money they’ll have it in the Crown Pavilion. But we’ll see in a few months.
Since Halloween takes place in LA and that’s been rebuilt as well as all the NPCs we encounter may or may not need their stats and builds updated, wouldn’t that mean that Anet would have to pull people off of HoT to get it ready? Just wondering… not to mention all the holiday window dressing for the new buildings… <sigh>
Keep in mind, Wintersday used to be in LA too. And this last one was in the Crown Pavilion. So I fully expect Halloween to be there too.
Yes, but it’ll probably be a repeat of the one last year . . . and the year before last . . . with some minor Candy Corn sale items. Better than nothing, I suppose. And probably in Divinity’s Reach’s Crown Pavilion à la Wintersday.

Yeah . . . sad state. But this is what the expansion crowd demanded and was okay with. Crickets and tumbleweeds while we wait. But that’s another topic. . . .
Kind of hard to ‘get your money’s worth’ when you haven’t gotten much to begin with as far as the expansion goes. Well . . . other than promises of more to come later. Still, seeing how this is like the third or fourth thread like this in the past week, it’s pretty telling.
I dread the day if the expansion doesn’t deliver. God . . . they better hire a boatload of moderators for the forum. It’ll make Chernobyl look like a Sunday Fish Fry.

In other words, they have your money with a promise to give you a product . . . eventually. Good luck with that refund request. Oh . . . and know what you’re buying beforehand.
Starting to see a trend with these recent threads.
That’s a reason you’re hearing a lot of silence now. Players tend to take such statements out of context and use it like a sword. And, in some cases, rightly so.
ANet doesn’t want to get jabbed with its own words.
White space. Paragraph breaks. Use them.
Lord Faren. He makes me laugh.
Seriously. They gave world bosses a buff to survive conditions better. Now imagine being on the tail end of that as a player. No buffs for you. And not fun.
I despise nerfs, and would love it to death if I used conditions like burn as well, but anyone in PvP and WvW knows there’s a problem.
A. Serious. Problem.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Yes, a nerf of some kind is definitely coming.
Sure. No buffs. Can we at least get some fixes for these issues then?

That would be nice.
What is the deal with servers that list dailies?
This started when ANet added that double daily fractal nonsense. Since most PvErs can’t stand dungeons, WvW, or PvP, a few added rooms like the one you found to help finish their daily achievements.
And then the floodgates open.
I’ll be honest. Most PvErs would never have stepped into PvP if not for that situation. And then they saw how effective and easy it was to get rewards and achievement points very quickly with cooperation. Also, it’s more effective than fighting to gain rank. Way more. Rooms like that allowed me to complete all the tracks within a few months.
Yes, players hated the Double Fractal daily that much. And the cooperative PvP rooms are the result.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Keep in mind, you were banned from the room by the owner. You can still PvP in other rooms that actually PvP. But, in those rooms, cooperation is desired more than competition.
In most cases, the players in those rooms will warn or ask you to stop and give the reasons why. Also, most state their intent in the room description.
If you go against the room’s rules, and the requests of the players in said room, well . . . yes, you will be banned from them.
Again, if you desire actual PvP, there are still plenty of rooms for that.
What Nick said.
It makes no difference if the rogue disappears again because it’s hard to hit an invisible target. Granted, a rogue may have a harder time taking down the targets in your example. But those same targets aren’t taking down the rogue if they can’t target him.
I know this from experience.
A thousand years ago, I played World of Warcraft in vanilla. This was back in the day before they nerfed the heck out of Alterac Valley. Back then, the games lasted for hours and hours.
Long story short, I played in a match as a rogue that lasted eleven hours. In the end, our team won. And I had the most kills, the most killing blows, the most honor won . . . and zero deaths.
Think about that: Eleven hours. No deaths. In a PvP match.
Again, the ability to pick and choose your fights, and the ability to escape them if things went wrong, cannot be overestimated.
Stealth trumps everything else.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Good topic and question.
If stealth is involved . . . rogue. There is nothing like the ability to pick and choose your fight and to escape from it. Otherwise, range is still king. The ability to strike an enemy without them being able to retaliate because of distance cannot be overestimated.
These two are combined as mesmer in this game. If a player does both correctly, that player can be exceptionally dangerous and downright annoying.
But as far as archetypes? Again, rogues . . . only if stealth is involved.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
The answer depends on your play-style and traits. If you don’t mind not doing much damage, but being a pain to kill . . . cleric’s isn’t bad. A lot of guardians tanked and killed many a boss solo using cleric’s.
Yikes. Hope this gets reversed.
Anyway . . . yes, after the expansion is released. At some point, the Living World continues after that. They’re going to use Living World as filler between expansions.
Oh I have no doubt they’ve been working on ‘stuff’ for a long time . . . for Living Story. At some point, yes, they decided to head in the expansion route. But let there be no doubt—at all—that some of that Living Story content got rolled into the expansion too.
It’s not irrelevant. It’s proof of why we’re not seeing any ‘new’ content. If said content was for Living Story, and only Living Story, even with the expansion coming, wouldn’t you still release said content until it’s exhausted while working on the expansion?
Does that not make sense?
Yes, how something is delivered is more than relevant. If I’m now paying for something that was free prior, and was intended to be free post, you bet it’s relevant.
Seriously? You’re actually arguing this? It’s common sense.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
(laugh) Intent makes all the difference in the world.
So, if I start coding something today for a new game, and then in half a year I decided to add it in another game, the time I worked on said things would start at the time I decided to add it in another game rather than today?
That is not really how things work..
But we’re not talking a ‘new’ game. We’re talking about this one. Prior to this ‘expansion’ nonsense, we were told only Living Story. And these updates were pretty regular. Every two weeks to every two months. Give or take. And then, lo and behold, expansion.
If you really think none of the Living Story content didn’t get rolled into the expansion . . . well then . . . we have nothing further to discuss.
(laugh) Intent makes all the difference in the world.
i agree they worked on it maybe a couple weeks and announced an expansion coming haha
i have prepurchased as well no regrets but lets face it they have no been working on it that long and announced it far too earlySo they somehow managed to create a more complex WvW map in less than half the time it took them to create EotM? That does seem rather unlikely actually. Not to mention at the same time completing the Specialization system, Mastery System, new PvP gaming mode and multiple maps.
You realize those were probably updates and patches to the game . . . before it turned into ‘expansion’ material . . . right?
I remember saying something similar when the expansion was announced and certain posters said, “You see! Obviously the developers have been working on it since Day One.”
Something like that.
I don’t see those posters anymore, but they don’t call me Living Story Lover anymore either.
Good times.
