Honestly, I’m ignoring certain posters on these forums after this. There’s only so many times you can explain common sense before you realize it’s a waste of time.
That said, yes: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Wooden-Potatoes-reviews-the-preorder/first#post5169947
Some people do get it and understand why the community is a little peeved. Even some of the most fanatical get it.
Thank God.
The rest? It just makes more sense to skip over their posts from now on. But I do thank the majority of the community for seeing there’s a problem. And the YouTube commentators. And the various gaming websites. And . . . well . . . just about everyone else.

I just about died when one of those cows quacked. I swear, I thought I heard an, “Oink!” too. And the loot! YEESSS!
On a side note, Marvel Heroes released their Cow Level as random drops. Hilarious fun! If you guys need a break arguing semantics, you should give it a try.
Moo, moo, moo . . . quack.
Man, seriously, try it!
I wish they would. It’s a small fix, but it would be nice.
(Btw here’s a hint to determine if it is really being offered for free: Can you download GW2 base right now without purchasing an HoT bundle? No? Hmmm…)
Bullseye.
Someone else want to explain how charging for the expansion, that includes the base game, is part of the package to him?
(laugh) I’ve seen that before in the Fen. That undead shark really wanted me.
What Kill said, sadly. And we really didn’t need another thread about this either.
No idea, but I’m very interested to know the answer.
You’ll get information, be patient. They haven’t even announced a release date yet. The information available now may not be enough to deem the purchase of HoT worthwhile but many of us have been waiting for the prepurchase and bought it as soon as it was available.
I agree. That’s why I’m still in the wait and see camp. That’s not ‘entitled’ or words to that effect. It’s asking to know what our fifty dollars or more is going to buy us. That’s not asking for too much. That’s asking for basic information.
And it’s also par for the course from other MMO companies. This whole situation is just bizarre.
Edit: I see she removed her comment.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
First off, Bansandra, that was extremely rude. Second, fine. Tell us ‘entitled’ customers how many maps there will be and what content is coming since they want us to pre-purchase for that price. Third, if your faith in humanity is based on the commentary from a gaming forum, I suggest you follow your teacher’s advice instead.
There was no need for that level of ugly. We’re asking to know what we’re being asked to buy for that cost. Not for anyone’s first born baby.
Simmer down.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
It’s not a bad idea.
Better than the Pet Rock.

Why does everyone all of a sudden think they have the “solution” to the pricing? Isn’t this kind of arrogant?
Asked and answered. Oh and +1.

You know that ‘simple sentence’ is part of their contract agreement, right? You bet people ranted. Ghost editing after someone signs and agrees to buy something tends to kitten people off.

(laugh) Funny, I thought something similar when I read that too.

But many people did leave, didn’t they? Dying is something else. But they did merge servers for a reason too. . . .
They’ll always be a loyal fan base who will stay until the game goes offline, but let’s not be dismissive about what we’re talking about.
That kind of attitude did kill more than a few MMOs in the past.

It’s such a simple fix. Tell the customers what you’re asking us to buy. If it’s worth the amount asked, people will stop complaining overall. Right now, this reads like a Slipping Jimmy scam.
We’re not talking stuff to be added for the future. We’re talking about stuff to be added in the expansion. Commenting about future stuff is beyond the pale.
That’s like saying future patches that will change stuff is coming soon. What stuff? When? That’s the issue and a big no-brainer.
Best news this week.
Not. A. Chance. For me it’ll be either base game, deluxe, or nothing at all. Time will tell.
This is true. Even Wooden Potatoes has criticized this decision and the price. And he’s rather fanatical about Guild Wars.

They’re already defending it. And the opinion of a hamster isn’t going to make them feel less self-righteous about being so eager to throw down $50 on what is probably about a $30 expansion (for those who were suckered into buying the game before the HoT release)
Sad, but true if some of the comments I’ve read are any indication. The MMO community really is a strange thing at times. . . .
Wait. Guild Halls are now fifty dollars of content? Um . . . I’m going with the people who were unhappy were blocked.
That seems more plausible than, “And then suddenly those who saw the Guild Halls were silent and happy.”
Just saying.
On that note, I’m not guilded and have no interest in the Halls or their decorations.

I personally refuse to drop $50 on HoT for a few simple reasons.
First, There isn’t enough information on the new content coming WITH HoT.
Second, $50 and oh, you get the original game too when you already have it and don’t need it?
Make a different pre-order category for those who already have the core game, and people will drop their money faster than you can blink, but it’s a slap in the face to charge $50 for the X-pac AND a game we already own.
Agreed. Despite all the flames and finger-pointing over the last few days from the community, I’m still in the ‘wait and see how ANet responds’ camp. Still nothing, of course. But they might be doing damage control meetings.
Who knows.
But, for now, no. Not pre-ordering. Buying when it goes live isn’t off the table. At least, not yet.
People are acting like the others who disagree with the price, for their own reasons, are calling their baby ugly or something. Seriously. Calm down. If they feel the price is too much, for whatever reason, that’s how they feel.
Personally, I just want to know what we’re getting. If it’s a huge amount of content, fifty dollars is cheap. But that’s the problem. We don’t know what we’re being asked to pay for as far as PvE content.
And, from what little we’ve heard, it doesn’t sound like much content.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Again, I like this idea.
The silence is normal business around these parts. I think that’s another reason players are so irked lately. Well that and the price. Given what little we know about the expansion.
Bingo. Communications or lack thereof is the bigger issue. While I get some of the defending, I don’t understand most of it. Why is it such a bad thing to ask to see some of the content we’re being asked to buy?
Heck . . . we don’t even know a release date. . . .
So . . . we’re paying fifty dollars or more for guild halls, vanity items, and other nonsense? Even you don’t believe that. Can we please get some information about the actual content instead? You know, the stuff that we will be spending the majority of our time on?
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
People are just getting stuck in the kitten over the fact that Anet’s doing preorders for the expac without revealing everything in the expansion. Mind you, they’re probably the same crowd that kittened over EoTN’s price too. People need to get over it. Anet’s going to be charging $50 for a long time, perhaps a year or more, until the first sale happens. If you guys want to wait for a year while the rest of us have moved on to LS5, feel free to do so quietly and out of public sight.
Seriously, how dare people ask to know what they’re paying for! The nerve. They should just pony up and pay for the privilege.
. . .
While I enjoy Guild Wars 2, I’m not dropping a dime until I see something of what I’m getting beyond vanity items. Call me a miser, but I work for a living. I tend to want to know where and on what I’m spending my money.
I dunno. I’d like it if this was added to the wallet too.

It amazes me how most of you feel entitled to judge the value of the expansion in general.
ArenaNet is asking us to judge the value of the expansion when they ask us to pay for it in full, without even knowing a release date.
They expect us to pay basically the same we paid for the full game at release. Does HoT have as much content as the core GW2?
Nope.
And that’s it. There isn’t any way around it. The price simply isn’t fair, and ArenaNet knows it.
Bingo.
Man, I cannot wait to test this mess out!

LOL – Point.
Well I’d be happy if I could sell them too.
I’d be very happy if they did add these to the wallet.

Yes the mini can be added to the wardrobe. I added mine as soon as I got it.
Another issue is if the Gems from Ultimate were spent. For example if someone bought Ultimate, got their 4k Gems, converted all or some to gold, spent some of that gold on TP items, that would cause a huge problem that I bet CS could not reverse via refund.
If that’s the case, and the OP did something similar, I doubt a refund will be offered. But, again, it couldn’t hurt to ask. Oh and thank you for confirming the mini could be add to the wardrobe already.

I think the bigger issue will be those vanity items to be honest. If the OP added the mini, for example, to their account, that might be all it takes to say no.
Someone said they already added the new mini to their wardrobe. Didn’t think you could, but he said otherwise.

they are waiting… if the sale go well. they will just keep ignore.
I hate that this could be the most insightful thing I’ve read on these boards all week.

An interesting idea. Guess we’ll see.
Some players will do almost all the content in a week. And that’s not a comment on the amount of content, but more about those players.
Plenty of us bought the expansion and are happy, OP.
And plenty of people who didn’t, for various reasons, are not. On that note, that link is still hilarious . . . if a touch scary.
So people who feel the product is too expensive are now the ‘entitled generation’? Wow . . . just wow. . . .
And one new class.
I have to agree with Linnael. While I appreciate satire, I didn’t care for this. It reads more flame bait than anything. As if we need more to irk the masses. But that’s just my opinion.
It’s a fair question. Honestly, I log in to get my daily reward, do a handful of daily events for that reward, and then PvP (kind of) to get the track rewards. Afterwards, I log off.
Entertained? I feel like it’s more OCD than anything lately. . . .

Koviko, file a ticket and see if you can get your money back. It’s unlikely if you’ve used any of the pre-purchased items, but it couldn’t hurt to ask.
Buyers’ remorse isn’t always a bad thing. After all, it’s your money. You earned it. And you can decide if you made a mistake.
Hope it works out for you.

Thank you for the link! Watching now. Edit: He just about nailed every single concern I have and voiced them perfectly.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Interesting. Thank you for posting that.
They also said no expansions, grinding for gear, and that we’ll need to buy the core game to play the expansion too, but let’s not go there.

Well, yeah. The opinions of others have influenced my decision. They made me realize that the expansion is just a bit overpriced in terms of the content that’s actually going to be in it. I regret pre-paying for it. I may still buy it after release, but I feel stupid for pre-paying.
When you buy an MMO you’re not buying a game. You’re buying access to content. It’s not just about what’s in the box, it’s about what comes after too. If you really think what you get in the box is all the play time your’e going to get out of HoT, you’re probably mistaken. There’ll be the Living Story resuming again. There’ll be new stuff added.
You’re buying access with an MMO, not a game. Think of it another way. How much did you pay for the original game and how many hours did you play it?
I know I bought Tomb Raider for $60 bucks at got about 20 hours out of it. That’s not unusual for games. People buy console games for that price all the time.
Here you get hundreds of hours for your purchase. I’m not really sure why you’d listen to the naysayers. Most of them are going to end up buying it anyway.
Um . . . he hasn’t ‘accessed’ any content in the expansion as far as I know. Your argument made no sense. He asked if he could get a refund. Not your opinion on the matter.
