Man, I’d lose my kitten if Beast Specialization allowed me to control two or more pets out at the same time. I’m all over that mess!
I want to test this before I comment. When are the open betas coming out?
If you did it before, you should still be doing it, even if you have been married for 15 years like I have.
(laugh) Yeah, I got a rather harsh reminder upside the head.
Ranger? Really? Every time I see ANet staff, it seems to be a warrior. Yes, most definitely warrior.
I’m not crazy about it, but I wouldn’t deny those who want it.
I’ve seen more than a few players with the ‘ArenaNet’ tag next to their names. So, yes, they play the game.

I get the feeling no matter what I, or others say, you won’t listen. But let me point out one last item:
My point is clear, if rangers get new pets, then other classes should get something new too.
You said so yourself. Again, who is selfish? Regardless, it’s unlikely rangers will get anything new. The community is more than used to that. So, honestly, they expect nothing.
Which is kind of telling in itself.
Are you also not aware that pets constitute a huge part of a ranger’s damage and ability to survive in both PvE and PvP? New pets could potentially add more variety to certain traits and specializations.
The ironic part is your argument is the one that’s selfish. If rangers get something new, then you should too. And if you don’t, then they shouldn’t get anything either.
You seriously don’t see the glaring hole in your argument?
Let me show how flawed that is: Necromancers can summon multiple pets. Since I’m also a pet summoner, a ranger, it’s selfish and unfair that they get more than me. Therefore, necromancers should only summon one pet like me. Unless I can get more pets out at the same time, necromancers should never get a new or more pets either.
Again, your reasoning is flawed. And I hope you see that.

Let me tell you a story. Before I got married, I used to always open the door for my girlfriend and later my fiancée. After we got married, I slowly started to stop that behavior. And she got kittened and said, “If you did it before, and I liked it, you don’t get to stop now.”
And that’s why people complain about Guild Wars 2 recently. We got Living Story updates and content every two weeks to two months, depending on certain situations, and now we’re getting nothing. In a nutshell, ANet set a certain standard of expectations with their continual updates.
Now? We get nada until some undisclosed time in the future. Maybe this summer? Maybe this Christmas? Maybe next year?
See the problem? I know I am and so are a lot of players. Thus this thread and the exodus.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I have to admit, I’m surprised their public relations hasn’t put a lot more out there to hook players on the expansion. In fact, it’s one of the few times I’ve ever seen a company be so ambivalent about their press, promotion and product.
It’s just . . . strange.
But if PorceleinEve is right, and I believe he or she is, then it would explain a lot. A whole hell of a lot . . . sadly.
Be prepared for future threads that basically says, “Is that it?”

What you’re seeing is the effect of no Living Story, or seasonal/special event, carrots to chase while ANet works on the expansion. When the dailies reset, you’ll then see a boost of players for an hour or two, and then they return to whatever else they were doing.
In other words, there’s nothing for the established players to do right now if they’ve done a majority of the game and it achievements. In hindsight, removing the monthly achievements appear to also be a mistake now.
And the information, or lack thereof, about the expansion hasn’t exactly been roses and rainbows. Any hype is pretty much not there for many players. It’s sad, but posters warned about this very thing months and months ago. Still, people had to have their expansion.
So here we are.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I’d probably consider it if spirits stayed out without having to be re-summoned on a cool-down timer. Otherwise, no one with any common sense bothers with spirits anymore . . . unless they just love them like Tyler does.
No offense.
I was wondering myself. When did healing get nerfed? If nothing else, I’d love to see a huge BOOST to healing and regeneration. It’s quite lacking right now compared to burst damage builds.
I suggest you use more white space when you post, Black.
Regardless, I wish ANet would simply release more pertinent information. No one cares about frogs. Have they not noticed the hype train came to a screeching halt a few months ago?
We aren’t exactly screaming our excitement anymore.

They did not look tameable to me at all, Honestly ive never looked at Beatles as pets in any game really. I have more hope now for more rangers getting new pets because they removed the pet family traits and got rid of any limitations.
Really? Not even the baby ones? Was a whole mess of threads about them in the rangers forum back in the day. More than a few of us tried to tame them and even asked devs to make it possible.
But, regardless, we’ll see as far as new pets . . . next year. Zing!
On a side note, I’ve been doing PvP on very friendly servers. So I’m getting ranks daily until my PvP points max for the day.
Yeah, yeah, I know . . . but at least it’s something to do. . . .
Compare this expansion to the latest WoW patch. The difference in the amount of content is staggering, and that’s for a patch. Not an expansion. Patch.
ANet is either waiting until the last minute to tell us all of the wonderful stuff they have created, or they are still developing the expansion and this beta test (that uses 99% of assets already available in-game) is basically a sham.
Sadly, I must agree. I know people don’t like hearing it, but some of us know Living Story content on steroids when we see it. Please let’s not kid ourselves. The hype train went off the rails some months ago.
We got a new pet when they added Southsun, and that wasn’t even an expansion.
And the other two new zones lack any thing even close to being tameable by a Ranger that i can see.
However, those beetles in Dry Top and the Silverwastes looked tameable. Gave a lot of rangers hope. But, as another poster said, it looks unlikely we’ll get new pets. Still . . . one can hope. . . .
Keep it on topic, guys.
Look around. The hype has died for everyone. But I’m always surprised anyone is surprised by this. But this is what the expansion crowd wanted.
Are we having fun yet?
Not. At. All.
To be honest, I’m kind of shocked it hasn’t been fixed already.
Could I? I’m doing it now, no problem.
Lack of information is normal around these parts . . . until around the week or so of release.
You do realize this is how all MMOs work, right?
You do realize that’s not how this MMO worked, until the expansion announcement, right? (laugh) But seriously, people warned about this very thing. No one wanted to listen. And here we are.
The natives are restless.
I’m not crazy about the expansion either, given I think it all could’ve and probably would’ve been free content via LS, but whatever. I’ll still buy it. Yet I’ve not read or seen anything thrilling so far.
It’s all been rather . . . lukewarm.
What Ill said . . . sadly.
Case in point. Like I said, X, Y, Z. It just makes me laugh because another poster said ANet doesn’t base their decisions on the complaints of players.
Really now?
Facts tend to be troublesome things.
Early release with less content? Sure . . . if you want to see more torches and pitchforks on the forums.
Again, given that they’ve all but removed underwater content in some key areas, it’s not coming back. As much as I love it myself, people complained, and still complain, about it because of X, Y, Z.
Also, given that the focus appears to be flying into upper levels, swimming probably isn’t an option.
But we’ll see.
That’s just . . . sad. But, if you have the money to blow, more power to you.
I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was talking to someone who believes marketing speak.
I’m going to just say ‘pass’ on this.
I’m noticing a trend that when you bring actual evidence to the table, the naysayers always offer their opinion and snotty comments instead, rather than counter proof, and say not to believe our lying ears or eyes.
Excuse me. Are you, or are you not, getting an expansion because of the nonstop demands of those vocal players here and elsewhere? Have content updates pretty much stopped because of it? Did you miss the point of this thread?
That’s pretty much asked and answered. But you keep telling yourself otherwise. You follow your opinion, and I’ll follow the facts.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Anet did not all of sudden decide to make an expansion just because some people complain. That’s really not how this stuff works.
If anything the reason they are switching to an expac is probably because NCSoft needed an increase in revenue for stocks.
Excuse me, but they say otherwise and have said so in various interviews. That’s exactly how it worked.
You don’t believe me, do you? Six-minute mark. Hear it for yourself.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Who cares if some angry random schmuck complains for a day? The angry minority on your forum should not decide how you run your game.
Unless you want to run it into the ground.
A day? Are you new to the forums or something? The point is that angry minority got their expansion. They did decide how to run the game. Hello? That’s kind of the point of this thread.
No new content because the expansion is taking all the resources. And that’s something we said would happen. But the expansion crowd didn’t care. They wanted their expansion.
And here we are.
Wait. Tomes of Knowledge also give PvP experience?
The added ToK to reward tracks because, originally, you used to be able to spend PvP XP on it from a vendor. It made playing PvP full time a viable way to level your character outside of the Mists if you wanted to.
To keep the same idea, they added it to the reward tracks, since they removed PvP XP and only use rank points or reward points or whatever it is now.
I’ve got my 60 ToKs ready for my Revenant all from PvP. All additionals go to alts.
Huh. Thanks for the information.
Wait. Tomes of Knowledge also give PvP experience?
The question is . . . why? Every time they add even a minor bit of small content, the forums ignite with complaints. Hello? Look at what happened with April Fool’s.
It such a lose/lose situation for ANet. kitten ed if you do and kitten ed if you don’t.
All signs say no.
I want my pet as a druid, thank you.
How about we just lock this nonstop complaining and nonsense now? The event is over and won’t be coming back given all these tears.
Hopefully, as stated in an interview, they’ll continue Living Story events after the expansion. Supposedly, this will act as ‘filler’ between expansions.
Whether that actually happens, given ANet’s track record of saying one thing and doing another, is still pure speculation.
But, as others said, this is what the expansion crowd screamed and raved about on the forums. So here we are with nothing to do, besides dailies, waiting for an expansion that the majority of people will rush through in less than a month. And then, no doubt, rush to the forums to complain about.
Fun times.

I always wear the horn, because it went with my overall costume design, and never noticed the effect until April Fool’s and after.
Thought it would get fixed after the event, but it didn’t. Definitely something new going on here. In some cases, the horns are perpendicular to the forehead.
Something I would’ve noticed before.
Note: Edited Topic for clarity.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
After the April Fool’s event, the horns for the Selfless potion seem to have weird placement. Seems to have something to do with the camera, especially when you pan around, but not sure.
Because there has probably been nothing done to fix the last batch of issues with World 2. And who wants to hear more crying? After the whole April Fool’s nonsense, ANet would be crazy to open another can of worms.
This thread reminded me why I tend to avoid these forums nowadays. The lack of common sense is just . . . overwhelming.
When Anet released free, bi-weekly content people complained there was too much to do. Now Anet is working on the expansion that a lot of players wanted (and willing to pay for), people complain there’s no new content. It’s impossible to please everyone…
This in a nutshell. But the expansion crowd cried the loudest and the longest . . . so here we are.
Yeah I have the same feeling. I didn’t think the expansion would come at the price of another year without new pvp or WvW content and the end of the living story.
I thought the precise point of the living story was that it would keep going.
They could at the very least bring all the content they removed back. And yet this was exactly what many of us that preferred the LS method warned about.
It is simply not feasible to give two week releases and ALSO work on an expansion if they want to get the expansion out in some sort of decent time-frame.
Again, hits the nail on the head.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Yep. With Heart of Thorn putting any significant updates in a holding pattern, all I’m doing is logging in, doing the dailies, and then logging right back out.
50% uptime moving reflect is pretty insanely terrible for rangers though.
You realize the skill you’re talking about blocks projectiles, yes? It does not reflect them.
I hate you so much. ;[
I was having so much fun reading all the whiny posts.
LOL – I was wondering. . . .
Welcome to the club.
