Um . . . okay. . . .
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
That’s the living world he is talking about, not the living story. Those are actually mechanically different things.
So . . . what events is he talking about filling the space, or ‘relay’, between expansions then? Also, you are aware that ‘Living World’ is part of the ‘Living Story’ . . . right?
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Oh geez. I’ll try to find that YouTube interview again. . . .
Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIiqCW4WrFo&list=PLgUR4kRb88dVfLogkscClZNHeJgJ5KXwz
The comment starts around 5:00, but the ‘relay’ comment between the expansion and the Living World, where Living World fills the space between expansions, occurs at 6:30 or so.
We’ll see if it’s successful, but I imagine it should make everyone happy.

I believe it falls under verbal abuse in this case.
Actually, we do know. ArenaNet has said Season 3 will continue within and/or soon after the expansion’s release. They’re going to try to appease both camps.
As far as Season 3 being exclusive with the expansion? We have no idea. I doubt it. But, again, no idea.
Just hope they don’t pull a WoW and make the big boss something they’ll add later in a patch a la Deathwing.
We don’t know for sure, but it’s very unlikely. As of right now, you have access to Living Story Season 2. While I know most aren’t crazy about the method, of paying, it is what it is for now.
How to save gold: don’t spend it.
Making gold is a little more complex. But saving is easy.
This.
Yes, definitely necromancer.
No doubt. That’s par for the course when any expansion gives new abilities. As far as faith?
Waiting to see.
Very, very, very rarely, you can get one to drop from a mob. But, that said, I think I’ve gotten three to drop for me in the entire time I’ve played this game since beta.
Fastest method, outside of outright buying them, is the ‘key farming’ method mentioned already.
Good luck.
As long as you reported him for his behavior, that’s all you can do. We aren’t privy to what actions the moderators take afterwards.
That said, don’t let one person ruin your gaming experience. They live to see responses like this. And it’s why they do it.
Believe me when I tell you, if that person’s behavior continues in the negative, the moderators will deal with him . . . severely.
And then we get to enjoy his tears here.
This is a known bug. What you must do is log completely out of the game, and then log back in. This should fix the error. Encountered it more than a few times myself.
I very much doubt that there will be any underwater combat.
It’s a shame, but consider it a lesson learned. Karma will get him later. And not the good kind.
If you found yourself trapped in a virtual Tyria as one of your characters —
Which character/profession would you rather be? My only one. Ranger.
Which game mechanic would you rather not have to contend with? The pet AI.
What currently unimplemented game mechanic would you wish was implemented? Trading around pet abilities. Having multiple pets out.
Which NPC would you be most likely to seek out and befriend or clobber or ________? Lord Faren. He seems like a hoot to be around.
Which zone would you choose to call home? Kryta. Queensdale area most likely.
No, it’s not possible right now. Hopefully, it’ll return next year in some way, shape, or form. But, for now, nope. Sorry.
Interesting. I’d pay a small amount of gems for it.
Done.
I can also solo almost all the champions in the game and have. Some world bosses, if you count fractals and dungeons, too. Took more than a minute, but I’ve done it.
Having a tanking, regenerating pet helps a great deal.
Twenty-five to fifty gold max. And it better be a kitten good skin. Otherwise, not a chance. I recently got the wardrobe ‘skin’ achievement, so maybe even less gold now.
GW1 was better.
GW2 is great but it’s also becoming more and more like every other MMORPG on the market with every update.
/2 cents
Respectfully I must disagree about Guild Wars 1 being better. I recently bought, within a few months, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North to earn those achievements and those fancy, flaming gloves.
I have to tell you, it takes real effort and boredom on my part to log into the Prophecies. I’ve gotten to the around four or five mission from the end of the story line. Did all the side quests too. Yet, even so, I’m bored out of my mind.
I also got to as far as past ‘ascension’ in Factions as well with my ritualist. Got bored with him too and deleted him. Getting zergs by mobs every time I took a step was not fun at all.
Of course, I was using hirlings at the time. Heroes have made the missions a pinch, but still. Having to micro-manage them all the time. Them and their pets, and mine.
Maybe I’m just playing the wrong class (ranger – beastmaster), but I’m so not into Guild Wars 1. So much so, I wish there was a way I could ask for a refund. . . .
11. GW1 has no dailies. GW2 does.
Not strictly true:
- when you reach level 10 in Pre-Searing, you get a daily quest to help levelling towards the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title.
- There’s 4 Zaishan dailies: Mission, Bounty, Combat and Vanquish
Huh. Never even heard of this. Thanks.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
1. Guild Wars 1 is basically a huge maze because of terrain blocking. Guild Wars 2 doesn’t have that issue.
2. Guild Wars 1 all but requires you use hirelings, heroes, or other players to complete the game. Guild Wars 2 does not. And you must micro-manage those hireling, heroes, and their pets.
3. Guild Wars 1 forces you to choose a secondary class. Not GW2.
4. GW1 is ten years old or older. And it shows with the AI and art. GW2 is more polished.
5. GW1 Pet AI is atrocious. While GW2 Pet AI is . . . not so atrocious.
6. GW1 mobs completely respawn when you zone from a map. GW2 mobs are on a timer.
7. GW1, back in the day, had a lot more Guild versus Guild battles. GW2, for now, does not.
8. GW1’s story is very much on rails. GW2 is less so on the rails.
9. GW1 storyline is great, but feels forced and tedious at times. GW2 storyline is a little more forgiving and fluid. It doesn’t force you to do it, near immediately, in order to progress.
10. GW1 has more holidays and seasonal events than GW2. A lot more.
11. GW1 has no dailies. GW2 does.
12. GW1 has an extreme learning curve. Especially once you reach level 20. GW2 is a lot more forgiving.
13. GW1 max level is 20. Max level in GW2 is 80.
14. GW1 requires A LOT of running around between areas to complete certain tasks. The waypoints in GW2 lessen this feeling a great deal.
15. GW1 requires you return to certain NPCs to complete a mission or quest. GW2 does not.
16. GW1 does not have area looting. GW2 does.
17. GW1 mapping is tedious and opens in small sections. GW2 mapping is faster and opens in larger sections.
18. GW1 map completion is based on those small sections. GW2 map completion is base on certain components like Points of Interest, Hearts, and Vistas.
19. Certain class combinations are ungodly powerful in GW1. GW2 is more balanced all around to where no one class is head and shoulders above the others.
20. You pretty much have to play GW1 if you want to get all the ingame references in GW2.

Wow. That guy earned the crown for King of Trolls. Takes all kinds, I guess.
I do not understand why some people want fishing so badly. It serves no real purpose. You can see pretty things and do peaceful, relaxing activities without fishing. There are plenty of things to craft/cook already. I mean, to each his own and all that, but I just personally don’t get it.
It’s kind of like playing a slot machine. Some of the random things you get a really cute or cool. It’s just another form of RNG, but with a twist.
I’ve always enjoyed fishing in games. But I’ve always loved fishing IRL too, so there’s that.
Of course, getting that super rare fish or loot is a bonus.
After two years of required jumping puzzle monthlies, I can’t say I miss it.
I have only one character. The benefit is I can focus completely on him and his achievements. I don’t have to go back and redo certain things (i.e. Silverwastes) in order to gain those benefits for alts.
I also save a ton of gold not having to buy gear, level skills, and other similar actions.
Plus, I get to understand the class better if I focus solely on that class that I not only enjoy, but feel it is superior to the others for my play-style.
The other thing will sound odd, but there’s something . . . special . . . about that one character. He’s done everything since beta. He’s my original character and the one I’ll stick with until the game is gone.
But, to be fair, I’ve always been that way. Play one, and only one, class if I enjoy it. Just makes sense to me.
Why divide my attention?
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Oh that is TOO funny. Thanks for the links.
You pretty much have to wait for your server to rotate to the right areas and for off hours. Otherwise, I agree. WvW needed for map completion is a terrible idea.
However, rumor has it this might be changed in the near future. . . .
What events? Did I miss drama again?
I must concur with Celtic Lady. Pretty much disagreed with almost all your points, Aphex. No, Guild Wars 2 isn’t the best thing since sliced bread. But I do respect your right to disagree.
To each their own.
At this point, anything is better than nothing.
My last bag is invisible. Keeps me from accidentally selling items I want to keep.
i don’t have to get over anything, it’s your loss.
i’m just pointing out you’re wrong, which other people also have.
as for rytlock, his trailer shows 2 skills. two. meanwhile we have at least 5 confirmed ranged skills (more if you count ranged skills that teleport you to melee range).
but again, your loss. i’ll also not play ranger because it’s a ranged class, ohwait.
Again, how exactly is it my loss? As I said before, whether you’re right and I’m wrong, what difference does that make to you?
Let me explain your, and that other poster’s, logic and how it fails: Warriors can use rifle and longbow, therefore it’s a ranged-based class.
If you can’t see the disconnect with that supposition, then there’s really nothing left to discuss.
On that note, ranger is more or less a ranged-based class . . . but let’s not go there. Don’t want your head to explode.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Dulfy reported on this too. Well, if people want it. . . .
There are enough so-called ‘commanders’ already. Easier to get? No thank you. If anything, it should harder with a specific criteria that proves you know what you’re doing.
Paying X-amount of gold makes it accessible to everyone and their momma.
And it shows on the battlefield.
i just find it ridiculous that someone would write off an entire profession because of a gross misconception and random assumptions (i still don’t know where the hell people got dagger from, or worse, in your case, assumed it was a melee weapon, when dagger offhand has as many melee cases as they have ranged cases).
it’s like saying ranger is a ranged-only profession if they had only announced longbow, sword, dagger, and we’d seen gameplay of someone using shortbow.
I have to say your rather ugly response surprised me. Again, what does it matter why or what I play to you? Even if I’m totally wrong, and you’re totally right . . . so?
The question asked is what you will do or play?
I answered. There’s no need to jump off the deep end because you didn’t like my choice or reasoning behind it.
Please get over it.
Again, I will not be playing the class because it appears melee based. Now excuse me while I watch more videos of Rytlock use all those wonderful abilities at ranged.
Not.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Oh, look. Double fractals again. Obviously working as intended.
Yeah . . . never crazy or happy to see that one.
You should visit Ebonhawke. The welcome will be . . . warm.
Never even thought about how much that could be abused. Good point, Astral.
If I had to guess? Less people playing right now. For . . . obvious reasons. So less supply. And then, more demand.
No thank you.
As far as I know, it just removed the Lunar Festival and bug-fixed the golem toys. More or less.
Fishing should work like this:
- Requires talking to an NPC in your race’s starting area to get the character’s first fishing rod.
- Rod variations with different functionalities are unlocked with all sorts of challenges all over the world, including getting achievements and training masteries. Some rods will have level requirements, while others won’t.
- There would also be rod skins to override their default looks.
- Different rods variations and rod skins are selected in the wardrobe.
- Once a character has unlocked fishing, all unlocked rod skins and all rod variations are available to them as soon as they reach their level requirement.
- Instead consuming rod uses like the other gathering tools, it uses ‘bait’ gathering tools that have 50 uses that is tradable, and can be crafted with the Cook discipline. Higher tier fishing nodes require higher tier baits.
- There would be everlasting baits in the gemstore and from ascended level 500 cooking crafting for reasonable prices.
- To fish, you don’t simply use the node and watch it go. When you use the node, you enter cinematic mode (invulnerable and can’t see other players or their effects so they can’t troll you by getting in the way or pulling enemies on you) and get in first person, and start a mini-game with 5 skills in your skill bar. You have to time the skills to catch the fish… or whatever else is on the hook.
- Fishing can give fish trophies, fish and other seafood, some jewels, pearls, corals and salvageable items like leather boots, scraps of metal and cloth; and a few types of junk.
- Sometimes some amphibious sea creatures may spawm instead getting an item drop. The creature will hold the drop and must be defeated to get them. You may find yourself fighting an angry hylek, an infuriated krait, a disoriented quaggan, a skelk, a drake or even a karka. Even more rarely they will be veterans or even elites. However the they are defeated and regardless or anything else they may drop, they will also drop a chest only the fisher can open with the drops from the fish node that were ‘interecepted’ by the creature.
- You have 3 attempts to catch a fish, but if you get a catch, the node is used up regardless of remaining attempts.
- Failed attempts give “broken fishing hook” junk items.
- There would be Fishing Masteries. Among other things, they can increase the number of attempts you get per node from 3 to five, improve the skills to be more effective, and make some rare or difficult fish easier to find and catch.
- Different regions will have different fish.
- There would be one basic fish collection per region, plus a rare collection unlocked with the rewards of each basic collection.
- Fishing would be added along ascended and legendary cooking.
Hm… yup.. I think that’ll do it.
Genius. +1
I made around a 50 gold profit, give or take. But I was also unusually lucky with the decorative junk too.
I agree there won’t be major content updates in the near future. I disagree with the conclusions you’re drawing from that.
So . . . it’s just coincidence? All right. Agree to disagree again.
Vayne, Living Story is dead in the water now. There are no content updates until the expansion. None. That’s the point of this thread. And ask Gaile? No disrespect to her or you, but the last time we went that route, we heard deafening silence for a specific reason.
Let’s not go there again.
It might be because you didn’t acknowledge that the Hammer that they showed in the POI video was a 1200 ranged weapon.
Oh. My bad. One skill(s) makes it a non-melee-based class now. Silly me.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hammer (Revenant)
Despite all the videos and information showing the class meleeing with melee-based auras?
Come on, now.
