I guess it would be even more shocking some Americans celebrate the holiday too. It’s not like we have whole areas and districts with Asian communities in the United States. You know what would be real funny? If some of those areas were called China Town. Maybe even Little Korea or Tokyo.
Oh wait.
Have you been to the Mars? No? Then it doesn’t exist. You’ve only seen pictures. That’s your logic for you.
We have cantha page on wiki, not cantha continent or infuence in the game; we’re narrowed to square-like maps in tyria only, not even whole tyria now
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/b/be/Tyria_%28world%29_map_2.png
The above is the Durmand Priory map of the entire world. In several other locations, you can see this globe if you know where to look.
In the lower half you can clearly see Cantha’s continent as well as the Shing Jea Isles.
Please offer counter-proof it doesn’t exist.
You really don’t want to go there, Pulsarian. Remember, you opened that door with your example. Please keep politics out of this discussion.
Already bad, and toxic, enough with what Segman is saying.
We do have Cantha in Guild Wars 2.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cantha
We just haven’t been able to explore it in game yet. That’s all. Keep in mind, Guild Wars 1 takes place in the same world and history as Guild Wars 2. Using your logic, we gave no Deep Jungle either because it hasn’t been released yet.
Now, with all due respect, you need to quit with this ‘second-hand’ and ‘China fan service’ talk. It’s disrespectful and speaks poorly of you.
Your call if you want to get that ban your unwittingly trying to earn.
if this was true we would get this festival since the release but we got it only after china client was released, pretending otherwise doesn’t make sense
I didn’t say it wasn’t released this year because of the Chinese servers and Pacific community’s inclusion. I’m saying it’s a holiday everyone can celebrate. Please note I said everyone again.
That said, if you don’t like it, and to use your words are ‘personally insulted’, please feel free to play something else.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
In Guild Wars 2’s world, there is no Chinese. It’s called the Lunar Festival for the same reason Wintersday isn’t called Christmas.
Please stop trolling.
This is not cultural diversity.
This is second hand content that killed OUR dragon bash for THEIR festival.
Quit being so melodramatic. Dragon Bash happens in June. This festival didn’t replace it or anything else prior. There is no our or their festival. It’s everyone’s festival.
Whether you participate is up to you.
I’m guessing the costumes, fireworks, and general Canthan layout clues and design escaped you?
Having the lunar new year event on NA servers is akin to having a celebration about islam’s mohammed in downtown Vatican City. It just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
Just so you’re aware. . . .
http://www.ummid.com/news/2014/June/07.06.2014/adhan-in-vatian-city.html
Yes, it happened. For real. And it made sense in the name of peace.
This was like hunting for the proverbial needle in a haystack. Very limited information. Lots and lots of speculation on various sites. But, from what I could gather, from my limited translations, bless you Google, the VIP or Royalty System in China, requires some form of grinding to earn this reward.
But, to be fair, I can’t find a solid, and Guild Wars 2, source that says this in black in white . . . unless it’s on the Chinese site and my translations are crap.
Which might be the case.
Sure would be nice if a developer just came here and said what was what . . . please?
So pretty . . . http://vigilicious.tumblr.com/post/97136184198/astin-the-silent-mini-mystical-dragon

“Chinese version only – reaching level 13 of the VIP system.”
Give me a moment to find a source outside Wiki. . . .
With Scarlet dead? Very unlikely.
Sure enough, we did. It was part of Clockwork Chaos.
No, it’s not an exclusive item only for China. If it were, people would have already known about it and made a huge fuss. It’s been in the mini wardrobe forever now, for some reason; I do hope it actually gets released soon.
Because it was an exclusive item for the Chinese release. Like a collector’s edition or something. While I really, really, REALLY hope they sell/release the mini for this celebration to NA/EU players, it’s not looking good.
I love the waterfall area in Queendale. This is near where the bears attack the bee hives and where that big fish spawns. It’s one of the most beautiful sites in Tyria.
As far as romantic suggestions . . . I would suggest you take your girlfriend to a real location if you want to . . . ahem . . . earn some real loving.
And why do you believe they released this celebration for Guild War 2, just starting this year, then? Coincidence?
You might want to tone down how abrasive and confrontational your post is. That said, you can buy a cloth ‘node’ for your home instance. Don’t know if they’re still selling it though.
They had Canthan new year in the original game. It wasn’t in China.
Choon is asking about this game . . . not the original.
Mai Trin, Marjory, Her sister and rest of the family we’ve never seen on screen.
Yeah…. lots and lots of canthan descendants to celebrate. L O L
You’re kidding, right? You are fully aware you can also make your character look like he or she’s legacy comes from Cantha?
Right?
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Excellent point. Obviously Mai Trin and Marjory Delaqua, for example, have Canthan ancestry.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Fair enough, and valid points, Rognik.
Actually, they are new . . . as far as most recent . . . and weren’t part of the original launch set of hearts.
No, there was no celebration last year. Some people think it was Dragon Bash, but that was something altogether different.
Since the game added servers for China and Far East countries, just last year in May, it’s a nod to that holiday and those players.
@Ardenwolfe.8590
That is indeed correct. Halloween is a very American and Europe thing and most European countries even is celebrate Halloween either.
However the bottom line is that people will complain for something that has no direct impact on their lives or the way they play their character. You aren’t forced into playing Dragon Ball or any other events that are added into the game for a very short period of time.
So just enjoy what you have access too and be glad you don’t have to pay a monthly fee to access Guild Wars 2.
Agreed and well said.
These were added some months ago, I think.
I’ll admit, I was very, very tempted to use that website to download and play music with the macros. I suck at playing the harp I bought. But then I thought . . . why bother?
I’m not showing any skill like a real musician. Just showing my ability to download a macro.
Not disparaging those that did, and do, but I didn’t see the point either.
You are aware not every culture on the planet recognizes Halloween and Christmas, right? Using your logic, we can also say those events are European ‘fan service’ or words to that effect.
I hope you see how your argument falls apart there.
Edit: Please be aware that the Chinese New Year is not just for China. Also, many people recognize and celebrate the holiday outside of Asia. There are Asians in the west, you know, who celebrate that holiday.

“You will find our official position in this thread, and in no way does that stated position run counter to previously posted statements about the use of third-party programs. I invite you to read the official statementhere. Note that all statements, whether about generic third-party programs or macros, are based on the prohibition against something that gives a player a gameplay advantage. A music macro does not give a gameplay advantage in the same way a speed hack or a bot program would do, and that is why there is no prohibition against the use of a music-making macro.’
Yes, they’re allowed. Gaile has said so in another thread. Just the macros that allow you to play musical instruments as far as I know.
The ram is the front is very pretty though.
Seems like a simple thing. Don’t see why it couldn’t be changed. Add this to necromancer and ranger pets too.
And had they added it only to the Chinese client people would rage like mad about the Chinese getting an event we didn’t.
Kitten if they do, kitten if they don’t.
Pretty insightful actually. Agreed.
That is awesome. They should definitely use that look for a future legendary.
Milk the NA/EU community for what exactly?
I dunno as far as being the worst activity. But, despite the negative responses, I still appreciated the video. Any tips on getting an edge in the competition is good in my book.
Yeah . . . that’s pretty low. Don’t do it again. And learn from it. It takes a bigger man to know, and admit, when he stumbles and owns up to it.
Oh.
I’ll wager a guess it has something more to do with Caithe and her turn from innocent to something much, much colder and crueler.
If I had to guess.
May I ask what this obsession with bunny ears is all about?
I would feel like this if I was the OP of this thread because discussing bans is not allowed.
Rich isn’t discussing bans. He’s asking if we’ve said or done anything we later regretted.

This topic reminded me of a discussion almost two years ago when laurels first came out. At the time, the community was less than happy because all of the ascended jewelry would take around a little less than a year to get.
This didn’t include the mini-pets and tonics.
Fast forward to now. I guarantee all those players, who remained, have all the jewelry, the pets, tonics, and over 500 laurels in the wallet to boot.
Hroatgar, believe me, in a month, you’ll have more laurels than you know what to do with. You said it yourself: devoted.
If you left at any point, and weren’t playing the game, that’s kind of the effect of not playing. You don’t get the rewards.
Just be patient. Besides, with the expansion, the new gear will probably make the old gear obsolete. So just hold onto your laurels and materials for the time being.
Might be the wiser path to follow.

What’s the point of reporting someone that kicked you from a party? What category conduct breach does kicking a bad player falls into?
We call that sour grapes. The category conduct breach is Too Bad, So Sad, Please Get Over It.
With all due seriousness, there is no breach. The person is reporting because they got their feelings hurt. Whether the kick was justified or not is a moot point.
What is ANet supposed to do? Punished the player because he or she wouldn’t play with someone else?
This is an MMO. Not kindergarten. As long as the action doesn’t violate the Code of Conduct, nothing will happen.
It’s not looking good to be honest. Looking like a Chinese exclusive from back in the day.
Definitely crafting when it first came out. Pretty much ignored it for the longest because of it. Some of the PvP landscapes and requirements also made me scratch my head too. And yes, definitely the combo field mechanic.
Since when does the AP amount denote skill? I can point out a ton of players in Silverwastes who are overloaded with AP but still don’t have a clue.
That said, OP, if you encounter a situation like that again? Kick. Block. Move on.
Life is too short to deal with idiots.
Impressive.
Hah! A certain someone is already watching me like a hawk. But, of all the things I discussed here, I never figured a ‘My Little Pony’ reference would land me in hot water. Especially since it was a response to someone else bringing it up. And it wasn’t even an insult. Just my amazed reaction.
As far as in game? No, not ever. Not as far as I know. Most people know my ‘RP’ persona is pretty ridiculous.
That said, I like Zenleto’s thinking. Like a badge, huh? An interesting perspective.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
An . . . interesting point of view.
