Given our limited amount of experience with these, especially the ones not even tested or released, it’s hard to be ‘underwhelmed’ at this point.
But, as far as initial impressions, I’m not overly excited either.
I’ll wait for confirmation before I voice an opinion on this. That said, I wasn’t too keen on raiding in my previously played MMOs.
Elitism ran pretty rampant with some guilds.

Can people at least come up with an ORIGINAL and UNIQUE name before complaining?
I bet all the names you guys have in mind were already taken by other games.l
We were not asked to come up with better names. But just off the top of my head: slayer, scoundrel, shadow, vexxer, vindictive, assassin, Grenth’s choosen, Hand of Grenth, Grenth’s Shadow, haunts, Bones, demonicons, corporate lawyers. . . .
I am really glad that you’re not the one coming up with names then as to me almost all of those were really bad. Also ORIGINAL and UNIQUE. All most all of those weren’t Original or Unique
Man, there’s no need for that level of ugly. But, feel free to show me the ones off the top of your head, so I can criticize them too.

This forum is the exact opposite of the game community right now, and it makes me think that allot of people on this forum aren’t playing the game atm, they are just waiting and hoping HoT will somehow make them like this game again, while in reality, they should have left and not looked back.
+1
Absolutely this. As I mentioned in my post above, I have come to recognize names here and I ignore their posts because it is painfully obvious they are here to pick fights and rage at people. They’ll use the argument that a subject is valid because there are so many responses to a particular thread, but in reality it’s their posts/responses/replies (containing every reply since the beginning of the argument) that account for a significant number of those pages. It’s blatant trolling and in some cases bullying and it’s ugly. Boredom is no excuse for acting like a total kitten on a daily basis. It would be very nice to see more constructive dialogue. It’s here, but one has to look for it. Pretty pathetic.
Agreed, but that’s nature of the beast and all. But to be fair, when the expansion comes out, the complaining will ebb given most will be playing . . . unless the expansion is an utter disaster.
Then all bets are off.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
It a side effect of utter boredom. And yes, most of the people ranting and raving about the game aren’t playing it as much as they used to . . . if at all.
Again . . . boredom.
Not to be a cynic, but what exactly is going to stop an obsessive/compulsive if they know the ‘password’ to use said item?
Edit: I see Yalora thought the same thing. +1
Yes, it’s cornball.
Update 8/25/2015 – Healing Spring: This skill now also heals your pet when it is initially activated. Activating or unslotting Healing Spring will destroy all previously existing, untriggered Healing Springs.
Healing Spring does not go off when the pet is damaged. You must be damaged first, and then it will heal the pet . . . very poorly. Tested this at length on a solo run against Archmage.
Still very much bugged.

Fashion fads come and go. Once the new wears out, so does a lot of interest. Just the way things are.
At this rate, something is better than nothing. I’m not complaining. And I’m wearing that new, shiny title.
Release is one month away from Friday. I’m predicting it now.
Hope you don’t play the ponies.
He didn’t say which Friday….
Hah! True.

I learned a really valuable lesson from Al Bundy from married with children long ago:
“Nothing is so stupid that some idiot will not be able to sell an item to an even bigger idiot. Of course, that only applies if you do not meet the queen of the idiots.”
Of course he meant that to highlight that he indeed had married the queen of idiots with Peggy, but the point is basically an universal one.If someone is really stupid enough to invest 1000g for a dye, it will happen, despite how much it is a slap in the face of common sense.^^
Wisdom from the ages.
The one-time event in Southsun where you had to kill the Ancient Kraka. Whole community took pics at its corpse once we finally killed it . . . hours later it seemed.
It’s deadly obvious from this thread people really have nothing to do in-game. If death equals boredom, then unhitch the wagons because we’re already there.
According to that, the game’s been dead for years!
(laugh) On almost all the other fan websites I’ve seen, they pretty much think so.

I’ve found the basic ones sold from the laurel merchant to be more than enough.
+1 to all the nice people.
I’m calling it right now: The ranger spec reveal will be super underwhelming, everyone will laugh at how weak it looks. Then when people try it, it will be even weaker than they expected.
Yeah, I’m hoping you’re wrong, but I get the feeling you’re not. Hopefully, they’re buffing it, if that’s the case compared to other specializations, and that’s why it’s yet to be revealed.
Guess we’ll see.

As unhappy as I am with Guild Wars 2 right now, death is not coming for the game anytime soon.
Commander Shep doesn’t belong there. Gimme Alistair. <3
So you want a drunk that left his friends because he couldn’t kill a war asset lead the pact? We’re doomed.
But . . . he’s cute.
I’m starting to see the reason why ANet doesn’t say anything. While I’m not thrilled with the announcement either, let’s not jump to extreme conclusions. Again, I suggest a ‘wait and see’ option. If these changes hit during open beta and before live, then it might be panic and quit time.
Otherwise, let cooler heads prevail.
Board warring is serious business, Flesh!

What LostBalloon said and said well. +1
For me? The answer is no still. I want more information before I give ANet another dime. But for others, apparently, the answer’s been an astonishing yes.
Again, the reasons vary, but as other said indirectly, ’It’s your money and your decision."
But I’m not seeing any grand incentive to pre-purchase the expansion outside some fluff items and title . . . not yet anyway.
Otherwise, I must agree with Test. It doesn’t take psychic powers to know this isn’t going to end well given ANet’s recent and past missteps. A little insight and common sense tells us that much.
Of course, the commentary from the beta kinda helps too. . . .
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Mmmm. Alistair.
Well, I can only speak for myself in the current game, not the beta, but I’ve never had any issue with any warrior as a ranger. Ever. My only issues, as far as classes, are healing guardians and those blood-sucking, life stacking necromancers.
But your mileage may vary, I suppose.
Edit: I’ll admit, from the little I saw on the warrior specialization today, they do look quite overpowered. Gonna guess a nerf bomb is coming before that mess goes live.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I’ll admit, this does sound grossly overpower in PvP and WvW. But I bet it gets nerfed to the ground before release . . . hopefully. But I’d like to see some testing in beta beforehand.
Hah! What Johje said.
Hmm. I wonder if they are doing two phases of 10 day accumulations and then the last day have a blow out of all 20 days of items?
Just musing.
They’ve done something similar before, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
Apparently, I need to play Mass Effect.
First two installments of the franchise are excellent, but the third game threw away all the promises they made over the five years of development and Bioware played the “Artistic License” and “You Just Don’t Understand Our Vision” cards in defense.
Ah. Thanks for the warning. Still, as bored as I am, might as well look into it. Thanks again.
I’ve answered your question. I pointed out how your sentence structure implies the opposite of what you intended. And I even gave you an example of why your argument makes no sense . . . at all.
Don’t know how much clearer I could be, but I see the wheels on this bus aren’t going to stop anytime soon so I’m hopping off. But for the sake of my own curiosity:
Obviously, they want you to long in every day to check for sales. Gotta fluff those numbers! My goodness. Are people unhappy with the game right now?
Imagine that.
Show me where I implied the sale is happening because of the content drought.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
The reason why people called your last post a “conspiracy theory” was because you implied that they did this sale just because there’s nothing to do, which is false, since they do this sale every year, even when there is new content jsut released (ex lv s2 chapter)
And yes, sales usually are intended to sell stuff.
If that was not your intent, you need to structure your sentences better. The nearest modifier, ‘which is false’, modifies the clause before it. That’s English 101.
And your argument is illogical. This is like saying so what if the stores have Christmas sales again? That happens every year. They’re not trying to draw a crowd of people to the mall. People who otherwise wouldn’t come around for sales. Oh no. We’re just having a Christmas sale every year because . . . well because it’s tradition. We do it every year!
It’s not like they’re trying to draw more people back with the sales. Heck no. We’re doing it for the pretty lights.
I hope you realize how ridiculous this argument sounds.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I’ve yet to see a warrior solo anything better than a guardian or ranger. And a good necromancer can decimate any warrior in PvP. But your call. Hope you find warrior to your liking.
Of course the old bosses that did not get a revised mechanic that forced players to think when they first encountered them are boring now.
Killing the Fire Elemental boss of Metrica Province during the first couple of weeks after release was an EPIC accomplishment
Man, no joke. Probably one of the deadliest bosses in vanilla. But . . . nerf, nerf, nerf.
Apparently, I need to play Mass Effect.
Probably because it has happened every year so far, with or without content drought, so yeah… The reason why people called your last post a “conspiracy theory” was because you implied that they did this sale just because there’s nothing to do, which is false, since they do this sale every year, even when there is new content jsut released (ex lv s2 chapter)
And yes, sales usually are intended to sell stuff.
Let me ask you this. Reread this thread, with all its negative responses. Then read all the threads on the forum begging ANet to add some kind of event, or to redo or repost prior events, and tell the community again that they have plenty to do.
I’m not implying anything. I’m telling you there is nothing to do. And a glorified sale is not an event. It’s a poor man’s attempt to get some of those players to come back and buy items they otherwise missed. And this will no doubt include new items like minis.
If that’s a conspiracy, well pass out the tin foil hats, friends, the show’s just starting.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Why would ANet string along a sale for over near-month period? And release new items or rare re-released items over that time? Could it be to draw people into logging and buying those items? Draw some of those players back? Anyone who thinks the population is as healthy as it was last year is just not paying attention.
I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but in the real world we call that common sense and observation. Don’t know why that’s suddenly a ‘conspiracy’ theory, but far be it from me to tell anyone to otherwise.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
So . . . since they have your money already . . . no rush. Man, P.T. Barnum called it.
Definitely seeing a trend with these topics.
An event. Any event at this rate. Something. . . .
I’m going to guess the mini griffon and other minis will come out, but otherwise . . . no. ANet isn’t going to release a list. That would defeat the purpose of having those players, who have left, from returning every day to check and potentially spend gems or money.
Obviously, they want you to log in every day to check for sales. Gotta fluff those numbers! My goodness. Are people unhappy with the game right now?
Imagine that.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Yeah . . . I’m hoping this is only the opening salvo since it’s the first day. Otherwise. . . .
Definitely Halloween.
Very much bored.
SW chest/shovel farm is essentially the same thing as champ train….
You run in circles pressing two buttons and the reward is a champ bag…
Whoosh. O for two for you so far today.
Well. I went throught Queensdale the other day with a friend and we were not in the same maps, meaning that at least one instance of the map was near full. So the map isn’t empty, that’s just not true.
New players don’t give a crap that 4-5 bosses are veteran and not champion. They won’t even notice it. So in the end I think that new players are liking it.
It doesn’t matter that new players were in minority. We can find ways to satify most people. That’s where I disagree with Anet decision to simply change QD Bosses from champion to veteran. They should had make sure that we had good champion train in other map. It would have been a great way to improve some map where nobody go normally like Brisband Widlands, Field of Ruins, etc.
Dailies, friend. Dailies made a map full. With the train, the map was full at any given time all the time. Apples and oranges. But regardless, that bolt of lightning isn’t striking twice.
Fun times though.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I disagree. It was a legitimate complain that this caused friction between veteran and new players in Queensdale. Where I was disappointed is that they didn’t make sure to create new Champion train elsewhere and they made Silverwaste so good that thing like Champion train became useless.
Well let’s go with that. How are the new players liking the empty zone? Are you liking how the champs got nerfed to vets? Are you liking how the vast population and community disappeared afterwards?
Honestly, even if Silverwastes was the end all, be all, people would still farm Queensdale because it’s the path of least resistance. The dailies prove this out because people always return to those areas that make it easier. Cabbage patch in the Charr start zone. Vista in Black Citadel. Daily/cooperative rooms in PvP.
You get the idea.
There’s no doubt in my mind, yes, new players complained. But they were in minority compared to the endless complaints about someone ‘derailing’ the train. And honesty? How long is a ‘new’ player in Queensdale?
One to ten levels? And how long where the eighties farming the zone? Exactly.
Regardless, it’s a dead horse now never to come back. Which is a pity because it took a whole lot more away than the champions.
