But . . . the sniper pretty much telegraphs all his moves. The crosshairs tell you to get ready to dodge or hide behind something. Also, the lines on the ground should be avoid or hopped over.
The snipers are nothing. Now those little raptors, rolling devils, and chak with their glue of instant death if you’re not careful?
That can be a problem.
I think the initial rush in certain maps is over. Don’t get me started on Tangled Depths. Seems everyone flees that map as soon as possible with good reasons.
But, that said, if you’re looking for a fuller map, the LFG tool could be helpful.
Very much a chore and a gateway one at that. Several areas to include jumping puzzles, achievements, hero points, and mastery points requires mastery abilities to access them.
As someone once said, it’s an attempt to disguise the lack of content. I didn’t believe that before. But, if there wasn’t these speed-bumps, most of us could’ve completed the main storyline in less than a day. The extreme casual in a week. I’m extremely casual, and even I’m already killing Mordy. Still have to map out Dragon Stand though, but I know Living Story updates disguised as an expansion when I see them.
I like the content, limited as it is, but let’s not kid ourselves.

So ironic. I recall more than a few threads beforehand saying Dragonhunter sucked. Well at least PvP players stop screaming about druids. The nerf circle continues to go round and round. . . .
Make wisp a shout. Make the wisp instantly on the target. Make the wisp last longer, heal more, and allow it overlap for anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds.
And if damage is the question, allow it to burn the target while it circles.
Vine surge just needs to be replaced with another wisp that’s also a shout, is instant, and CC’s the target for three seconds. It should remove conditions from allies near it. Each condition removed should change into a boon for those targets.
Basically, everything it does now but smoother, faster, and replaces conditions with boons.

What if the Blind portion of the trait was dropped in exchange for the cool down being dropped to 8 seconds. The healing players get from the trait increased by 15%
Would that be a good exchange or is blind something that is a must have for the trait?
For me, I really don’t care for the blind, I mostly ran the trait to keep the parties HP up a little more.
Works for me! The blind is pointless and useless now. All I use Lingering Light for now is the healing portion for my pet, or team, now.
Or perhaps change it back to the way it was in beta, with the additional wisp healing us continuously like it did in beta, sans the blind?
Sixth Attempt: Tried with a group. Group leader died, and he couldn’t get out of nest, so decided to ‘relog’ to fix it.
You know what happened.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Fifth Attempt: Once again, the rift, with Caithe, spawned outside a reachable area. Screw this. Logged off.
This is, by far, the worst and most bugged boss fight I’ve ever seen in my life.
Can’t believe I wasted so much time on this nonsense.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Fourth Attempt: Once again, could not launch in the air! All the way to the end and then it bugged out. To say I am kittened is not even close.
Getting defeated more by bugs than anything else in the game so far.
Third Attempt: Rift spawned outside the area and is completely unreachable! Are you kittening me?
Irritated doesn’t begin to cover this nonsense.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Second attempt: The lifting draft didn’t work. Glider wouldn’t activate. Could not launch in the air. Died again.

Given that I ‘pre-purchased’ a day or so before release, nope. But, to be honest, I knew I was going to play no matter what. Not exactly other choice MMOs out right now . . . plus I wanted to know what happens.
Definitely my least favorite map so far.
Must agree. As beautiful as they are, they attack so slow, the fire one de-aggros when it does its special maneuver, most of the time the AoE misses, and well . . . on and on.
Yeah, same experience. Soloing, slowly taken him down. One quarter of his life left and BAM!
Crash/disconnect.
I get the feeling I was supposed to summon more with the rift, but nothing happened. So, instead, I started killing him the old-fashioned way.
Guess the game didn’t like that.
Well, that’s nothing, I almost killed him and the game crashed out. Have to start all over again. What . . . fun.
Yes, this is a known bug. Hopefully, it will be addressed in upcoming patches.
I’ll say this and nothing else: if the druid is so ‘useless’, why are/were there so many tears about them in PvP then and now?
Yes, there are issues to be addressed. Yes, it needs some fixes. Yes, certain traits need a rework. But the class is far from broken and useless.
It may be that the druid isn’t something you’ll like for your playstyle, yet it’s hardly invalid. So I won’t say ‘learn to play’, but I will say, “Learn to adapt.”
ANet has never given ranger a free ride, and I don’t expect it to start now.
Druid is super strong because of bugs y’all. Which are getting fixed. Which means all these flavor of the month druids will get rekt by CC.
+ metabattle build gets slaughtered by reapers.
Sorry what bugs? None of the bugs I’m aware of slash are being talked about by the community grant loads of healing or any healing.
Oh ignore him. He’s cross-spamming that noise across multiple boards.
I really hope ANet doesn’t base its ‘balancing’ on threads like this. That said, any mesmers who knows what they’re doing can slaughter a druid. Being on the receiving end of their nonsense, I can tell you it ain’t fun.
That’s nothing. Over two or three years now and still stuck at 2/5 for freeing prisoners in those crystals. . . .
You do realize that the pet having to chase the target, and not DPSing it, was one of the biggest complaints about the pets over the last few years on these boards . . . don’t you?
This is especially true in PvP.
It’s not an ‘overstatement’, but a real issue and one reason why some rangers rather go petless. Because the pet is too busy missing or chasing the target to make any difference in the fight. Anywhere from 30% to 50% of our damage comes from our pets, depending on how you spec, that is otherwise nullified because they can’t hit the target for various reasons.
And it’s a continuing problem we still voice about the wyverns and the bristleback because of additional axis issues.
Overstated? Are we playing the same game? A fleeing players is basically guaranteed not to get hit by our pets if they gain any reasonable distance. There’s a reason PvP players wanted the teleporting smokescale to be nerfed.
Please think about what you’re saying.
Unlikely as this will require an overhaul in programming for the pets. Also, it would create some ungodly combinations that would have the PvP community in tears. Ahem. But it would be a nice change.
I expect nonstop complaining about the Ringing the Bells again. It happens every year. It’s become something of a tradition on these boards.
The mastery is still needed for a MP point in Auric and a few areas in Tangled. If you’re a completionist, yes, you’ll still need it . . . unfortunately.
I recommend it to anyone with a 64-bit system. At max setting, I have no more lag, no more skill lag, and most of all . . . no more game crashes.
It’s awesome.
My wife mentioned this to me during Halloween as well: that her water elementalist was out-healing her druid overall.
Glad you mentioned this because I wondered if she was off her rocker. But she was a squishy as you can get, so maybe that’s the trade-off. Don’t know, but yeah . . . it bothered me that her elementalist appeared to heal more overall and more consistently.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
A six pack of pocket raptors and the F2 would be call in six more.
And six more…
And six more…
Oh I’m all over that! My own personal zerg? Hell yes!
Keep in mind, damage is not the end-all, be-all for some of us. Aggro control might be the better option. For example, the fact that smokescale can hit multiple targets is a plus for farming and holding the target(s)’ attention.
Also, as you mentioned, you’re testing on a stationary target. In PvP, no one is standing still and the pets’ DPS disappears while it’s trying to catch the target.
Again, smokescale all but nullifies this effect the moment it teleports and attacks the target. This brings the overall DPS for the smokescale up quite a bit . . . and the reason I use it in both PvE and PvP.
Quite frankly, and this is self-serving, I’d rather the overall community be ignorant about pets and ranger/druid in general. Whenever they start noticing us, the nerfs also start rolling in. And this also includes rangers who don’t know what they’re doing. Yes, I also read the comments on the board and roll my eyes, but that ignorance also keeps the spotlight off of us in PvP. It’s the reason most PvPers don’t consider ranger a threat . . . and that makes me very happy in PvP.
Regardless, a pet holding aggro is king in PvE, and allows me to solo things most classes wouldn’t dream of trying . . . in my humble opinion. Damage is nice, but again I’d rather have a long-term fight and survive, than a short-term one and be dead.
Again, in my humble opinion.

Thank you. Completed two maps in The Heart of Thorns and was wondering as well. Hopefully, this will be fixed sooner than later.
Now that is awesome. Congratulations.
Despite everything I dislike about Guild Wars 2, I must agree. It’s held my attention longer than any other MMO. This includes that MMO whose name shall not be spoken.
ANet has done an excellent job overall.
(laugh) Poor Irenio. He must be pulling his hair out now. Just can’t win. That’s said, I love the smokescale now. Kills better than ever and faster.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Again, I’m really not seeing this damage nerf. The pet is continually attacking now. It doesn’t have to chase the target since it’ll teleport. The amount of it spams Smoke Assault is down from 26 seconds, to 20 seconds, and then 16 seconds if you are Beast-spec.
Sorry to say, but this time the sky is definitely not falling.
I’m playing a beastmaster druid too . . . and I feel exactly the opposite about the Smokescale. I guess your mileage may vary . . . or something. . . .
As far as the other pets? Yeah, the wyverns just suck. No getting around that. Slow, clunky, bugged. The bristleback tends to miss if the target is either on a higher or lower plane, so that’s a wash too.
Either way, I’m still happy with my pet and my class. Not as happy as I could be, but as a ranger I’m used to it.
That might be telling though.
The answer depends on what you want and your playstyle. Is it worth creating? Again, that depends on you. Despite everything, I still love my ranger/druid.
Sadly, yes, but I don’t think this thread is going to fix that issue either. PvP players tend to be . . . unique creatures.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Looks like this track is permanent, or bugged, it is repeatable currently after halloween.
I’ve noticed the same thing. I figured after Halloween, the track would be gone as well, but who knows. After a less than helpful response to my own thread, I’m guessing certain players want to continue using it for . . . their own benefit.
That shouldn’t surprise me.
Awesome you say? SmokeAttack was nerfed for about 40%
LOL – What Drayos said.
Thank you for the change!
I must agree. I liked the old Lingering Light more, but it’s unlikely to return given recent changes.
I think the Smokescale change is great.
No, it’s awesome!
Again, what Koja said. And said well. +1
Uh oh, you mean the golems still have high armor values? Say it isn’t so!
Smoke Assault’s overall damage appears to be higher by about 7%, but it takes up a slightly greater part of the pet’s ability rotation, making it pretty much a wash.
Smokescale does the same dps as before the patch, but with weaker and less controllable burst. But at least now the combo field is usable.
Can tell you, after I just soloed the Archmage in Orr, the damage is higher in a longer fight. I am loving this change! Again, thank you ANet!
Edit: Also keep in mind the pet is no longer spamming Smoke Field. This means it’s continuously attacking as well. And, of course, that equals more damage in the long-term as well.
Again, loving this. It feels like the old Smokescale is back.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I don’t understand the complaining. Now the pet has your Smoke Assault on a shorter time with all the old benefits. And now you can control the Smoke Field.
Useless?
From what I’ve seen, now the pet rocks harder than ever. And yes, the blind work in concert with your attacks. . . . Again, perfect!
Edit: Exactly what Koja said!
As far as I can tell, the damage seems on par to what it was before. In the PvP lobby, I took out both bosses in no time. Also with full life for me and full life for my the pet. Took out the Blue Lord and all his minions at the same time.
The only difference, as far as I see, is that the F2 abilities were swapped. Otherwise, it feels the same, but now Smoke Assault is automatic. Keep in mind Assault is also on a 4-second shorter timer too. 16 seconds as opposed to 20. So, now, it’s spamming Assault a lot more.
I’ll solo the Archmage in Orr to test it further.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Excellent. Will test the pet again to see if the results.
Edit: Thank you, thank you, thank you ANet for this change! The pet is now awesome again. As a healer, this change is a Godsend.

I’ll just pop here to say that superior sigil of water procs trigger the natural mender trait
[it took me really too long to realise what was proccing it from time to time on my dual axe swap…]
Yep, my triggers all the time because of that rune.
Exactly. Why are Dragonhunters better rangers than rangers?
QFT.
