that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”
Hawks
No story or treasure hunt?
Sad and lame. I see the point making all the whiners to shut up once and for all, but legendaries done in this way will be un-legendary again.
Less sad and lame than RNG precursors, but still sad and lame.
I want an older voice.
Thta would be perfect, indeed.
I don’t think the TP is easy. It may be rewarding, but is very common to get incorrect, incomplete or false info, with the subsequent bad results.
I like the pull idea a lot, but I’m very biased about cc, I love it too much.
What if instead of pull it were a “taunt” effect? That wouldbe cool: set up a field, put the gyro and look at your enemies running into it by their own feet.
Uuuuhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!! Shared slots!!!!
I don’t get why people treat pixel stuff as it were real. I’m a convinced Anet sold me a game to have fun with, not a bunch of trinkets and coins to hoard…
Or you could be spitting spiders! That’s not creepy at all!!
The “Pay to Win” idea only make sense when applied to competitive situations. I really don’t think obtaining ascended items counts as a competition, so no, GW2 does not features Pay to Win (UNLESS you take the imbalance between Elite Specs v/s vanilla professions as and unfair advantage).
Engie needs “Field Enhancement”.
- Whenever an Engie uses a finisher on a field, the duration of said field extend by 30% for everyone.
- Whenever an Engie lays a field, the effects of the field are 20% more effective.
Adding a cooldown to kits and rqeuiring pre selection of skills is NOT simpler.
After 3 years playing, Engie’s hyperkinetic, convoluted and versatile playstyle is still the most fun and satisfying of all for me.
Humans, IMO, are the weakest of the races, lore and design wise. That armor is tweaked to suit them first instead of made as it should (one diferent frame for every race) is unfortunate and sad. But an only human game would be sadder.
I have 2 of every race in the game, but play Asura and Silvary the most. Armor is always nice, but in the endi it doesn’t determine which characters I like or play the most.
The armors I’ve done for my Asura and Charr are magnificent, despite the lazyness of Anet about making stuff for them. My humans are well dressed too: well dressed mules I hardly play.
Check other games around. Look for well developed, interesting and fun races, visual and lore wise. You’ll find GW2’s Asura and Charr take the crown without effort. Humans, on the other hand, are the same generic, standard, no-risk, boring dolls in almost every single game.
I main engie, and rifle is my favorite weapon, because CC, jumping ability and general animations. It is FUN. Pistols bore me to death, and hammer is good, but I prefer a more mobile playstyle.
UW weapons are no doubt the weakest, since Anet don’t give a dim for their own UW.
there is a thread specifically for this.
For suggestions about bringing back old skins?
You don’t need “sand boats” to function literally as normal boats, by having buoyancy on a liquid medium. In real life there are sail sleds that work quite well on flat sand, where people don’t sink.
Eins – Tune racial skills to be competitive with class skills.
Zwei – Add a Racial Lore core mastery that eventually allows all races access to all racial skills. (e.g. reputation skills from GW:EotN)
Drei – Remove class skills as standard utilities, but add a single slot skill for your single racial skill of choice. (to give the Revenant some love)/wefiveareone
I like this , A LOT.
So the “hidden beam” people don’t notice while killing the elementals is intentional?
It works good, IMO, I’m quite used to position myself in a way that let me pass the fireball through as many mobs as possible, with the big baddie at the end, were I make it explode. PvE of course.
In fact, I usually deploy the Napalm over the mob “line” with the major target in one extreme, then run to be on the oposite side of the fire strip to launch the ball along it. That way, it damages multiple foes, explode in the main enemy, and get me area might.
Only thing they have to do is make it don’t “vanish” when in contact with inanimate objects. Either it explodes in contact whit them, or pass through (I’ll love this, I’m usually burning baddies from behind rocks, statues and walls…).
I’d like one that say “Better than this guy →”.
Then you could stand with any Legendary Champion at your left and chuckle.
I figured it out too. Not everyone did, nor everyone will. Not everyone is doing it. AND IS NOT AN INTENTIONAL PUZZLE. It is an error, and it has to be fixed.
I get the elementals in the guiding fight “Eventually did pass through the beam but you couldn’t see it because it was small on the screen.” Since you can’t see it, the result is not consistent. A huge part of good design is avoiding this kind of problems.
Do you realize you are DEFENDING an unintentional error, just because you were “smarter” (or luckier) than other people?
There’s now a huge crater in the far north of the maguuma jungle. That’s a change, IMO…
In the words of the Mad Hatter*
…*Disney version. The book is on my to-do list.
“Off with your head!”
SS afect only movement, right?
I killed all the elementals without ever making the beam pass through them. That is not consistent with the following fight. All they need to do is to make sure the golems don’t die unless you do cross the stream through them.
Make an elemental stay far from the stone and then make a second one spawn between you and the stone while you aproach to kill the first. Show clearly the second one gets his armor detroyed while the first still stands.
You don’t need to explain anything. That marjorie dialogue could even dissapear, as long as the tutorial gets fixed.

The game balance DOES NOT COVER ONLY COMBAT. It includes detailed exploration, intelligent skipping (Even zerg kiting!) and basic travel too. Mounts offering any movement boost equal or superior to the 25% present on traits and runes destroy the cost oportunity balance on builds, even if it only works out of combat. Mounts become automatically mandatory, and any permaswiftness build lose its place ipso facto.
I don’t hate mounts. I think there are two problems with them:
- There is little enough opportunity cost in GW2 character builds. Removing the OOC speed boost cost would mean even less. If I thought that people would settle for cosmetic only, that would be one thing. The chances of people accepting a lack of speed boost on mounts go right on past slim to none.
- GW2 persistent world PvE is largely based on the idea of having massive numbers of players congregating to do stuff. As it is, some players systems have difficulty handling the rendering of all those models. I’ve seen many complaints about lag and DC in such circumstances. Now add in a hundred mounts as people race to the next thing. This would not be an issue in other games where most open-world PvE is solo play. That’s not GW2, though.
I realize that a lot of people don’t give a crap about opportunity costs, or other players’ experience. I happen to.
Just perfectly said, IndigoSundown.
The day mounts don’t destroy the oportunity cost balance for exploring/speed builds, and don’t add stress to the system (And don’t interfere with the view, I must add), then I’ll welcome them.
It sounds like an interesting idea. I don’t think it could replace a plain, simple, old school new race, but it could add some variety for the game when needed.
VB is not easy, but is not hard either. It is my favorite map by far: there is always a challenge, yet not all is about timers and dps.
The mechanic is fine. The instructions are there. But they are not well put, and they aren’t correctly exemplified.
As always, show >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>explain. Right now, the “tutorial” is showing you need only to press the button and then attack.
Easiest way to know is not working properly? People still keep misunderstanding it.
That depends on the individual. What is fun for one, could be an insufferable grind to other. Thus, the same thing can be fun and grind at the same time. Even worst, there are masochistic people too, who enjoys or cant play without obsesively grinding stuff (It could be argued that they don’t know how to have fun, but I think is more proper to say they have a different kind of fun).
@mantacake :
Just read this thread, I think it could help you a lot.

….
The bigger problem is that every other class got stuck with an off-hand weapon, and every off-hand weapon that isn’t a shield tends to be completely lame, visually and effectively (Because only two skills sucks). The mesmer and Revenant shields are a bit better than Warhorns and Torches because Shields look awesome and nobody really needs them to do anything other than provide a reliable block and maybe a bash (Or block while bashing, or bash while blocking)
…
Shields can be lame too. Ask any engie.
I don’t use hammer with my Engie/Scrapper because I don’t like the playstyle… but I know I’m hurting myself by not taking THE best weapon in the engie weapon rack. Even after the nerf, hammer is really powerful.
Since I seems to like underdogs, I use GS with my Reaper. I just love it.
No, no subscription. You have to understand that, while a middle ground example like the proposed in the OP could be really reasonable, people are NOT reasonable.
People buy and use and love and hate and leave things, mostly driven by emotion and social pressure. That is why a “fair” idea that crosses a conceptual line is perceived as a full infraction, and is why it will become a true infraction in time: boundaries help people control their emotions and responses, when you mess with them, you change the rules and let bad behaviours grow.
If you offer 1 kind of subscription, people will began to ask for other types, confrontation will grow around the topic, and, while Anet COULD, in fact, win a few monies from all the commotion, in the end the community and the game will became like that of any other subscribed game, without the option to go back. All of us who value the actual “non subscription” spirit of the game will probably go.
Just change the name of every condition applied to inanimate objects to “structural failure” or something like that. Keep the mechanics, dmg and numbers, and change the names so people who need “realism” doesn’t feel wrong by seeing a wall bleed.
Anet did say they were very satisfied with the 3rd heavy armor profession, so they weren’t going to add any other profession, only specs from now on.
I think adding a new race (or races) WILL be indispensable for GW2 at some point in the future, just to make enough hype and catch more buyers as the game became older.
If Anet take that very probable necessity as a great opportunity or as a lame excuse, is to be seen.
I killed it solo(ish) a time ago. I was bored and just spent like… 30 mins kiting and curing myself while sloooooooooowly taking away its life. It was… not very wise, and really inneficient.
From time to time, a few other players appeared and helped me for a few minutes, but nobody actually was interested in losing so much time, so I the end I was alone when I landed the last blow.
I don’t think you’re thinking of the same Vinetooth. Vinetooth Prime has a ten minute timer, as mentioned, but it also has an attack where it targets a single player, chases and downs them no matter how they defend, and needs to have its breakbar broken to avoid killing the downed player outright. If you’re fighting it alone, congratulations, you’re the target for that attack and will get downed.
It is possible for the downed player to escape the fatal attack using a downed teleport skill, which Mesmers do have access to, but that doesn’t help you pick yourself back up. Theoretically, you could also double-Signet of Humility with Continuum Split in the brief time you have before it downs you to break its bar. It’s far more likely, though, that you’re just thinking of another Vinetooth.
I HAVE to be wrong, then. I don’t remember it ever doing an attack that nasty. It was a Vinethoot, that I’m sure, and it WAS an infinite damage sponge, but clearly not this much evil.
Any species that is currently alive and in good numbers is doing well evolution wise. The “survival of the fittest” is not a competition only a few can win using only one method: is an ethernal marathon were anyone still moving is a winner, no matter their strategy. A bug over the hat of a runner is as “fittest” as the runner himself.

Oh, that’s nice!
Only 10 mins? it really felt like much, much more.
I would be cool indeed.
But calling your dog, pig or scale while in midair to then see them fall to their dooms would be epic.
How do you know it’s a girl?
Don’t get your hopes up boi.
Boi.. Ah, the beauty of dramatic irony.
Triple that for me: “Asumir” in my lenguage (spanish) is like english “To Surmise”: To suppose something is true without evidence.

I don’t care for outfits. I’ll never buy one unless it is cultural like the wedding one.
Just make more armor sets and pieces. Much, much more armor sets and pieces. In game and in the trading post. Just more armor. That’s all.
In PvE, for leveling at least, it is a real necessity.
No more elves, no more black, no more emo solitary assasins. Please, keep GW2 original. No wings over wings. No aquadrows.
Do the explanations say that you have to cross the red beam through the enemies?
For me the major problem is the number of people and the extension of time needed. I don’t think is really a problem with the game, but a problem with having real life and not so close relation with my guildmates.
I don’t have any problem with the mechanics (Although they could be more flexible, profession-wise, IMO), but with the people (Including myself).
Isn’t the core game free now?
The limited core is.
