Still cruel and twisted, like most prophecies tend to be…
But we are just swimming in speculation. The facts remain facts: of all the warmongers, bullies and assasins who dominate tyria in the “name of good”, Caithe is the less predictable and coherent in the eyes of the rest. No one in their sane senses would leave her in charge of a future great dragon in their most vulnerable and impressionable state.

No one in their sane senses… but the commander is not sane…

I don’t “hate” Caithe, and I think just killing her would make a very weak story. But, even if she really proves her good intent (Wich she still hasn’t done), she is still accountable for a lot of the pact loses, and I don’t see how anyone on tyria could trust her anymore, specially the better informed commander. It doesn’t make sense.

Thats my point: while I like Caithe’s ambiguity and dark craziness, the story is taking that behavior backwards, making a huge incoherent mess out of it.

Exactly my point! I would really love to get a better condition availability while wielding rifle. AA giving more bleeds, Blunderbuss adding some burning, Net Shot could cripple, maybe even a few confusion stacks for Jump Shot…

That sounds exactly to what we have with pistol aa, and it would get rid of p/p main purporse, i would suggest making rifle get weakening conditions instead of damaging conditions (inflict weakness, criple, chill, etc.) and make rifle aa get his damage buffed to a 15% if the enemy has vulnerability.

I happily concede, your idea is way better than my rushed ramble.

I think the problem is the tone of the story in GW2 is not crystal clear. Sometimes it is very silly and light, almost like MLPony, and sometimes it become much more grittier and serious. It is really good if you look at it from a “variety is good” point of view, but it can make some characters in the story suffer from incoherence, be it internal, in the way they should behave (The commander is the primary offender here) or external, in the way other characters treat them (Here Eir is a very good example).

Tyria as a whole is very inconsistent when treating Caithe, so is not so strange people have divided opinions about her.

In MLPony, Transformes or even in Narnia (Which is way more serious) it would be totally ok to give someone in doubt an opportunity to prove their goodness. In TLODR, GITS or even Gargoyles (Which is way more disney), it would be extremely awkward to allow such thing, unless there is no way to avoid it.

I tend to prefer the more serious approach to the story, so in my eyes Caithe is being treated with a really soft glove for the things she has done.

If you make a list comparing her good actions with her bad actions (Concrete actions with consequences, not abstract intent without evidence), she really need to be put under custody. By the other hand, the same could be said about our own commander…

Something MUST be done about the RP in DR

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ardid.7203

Ardid.7203

First of all, fixing the range of the emotes is fundamental. Nothing more to add there.

Second, an RP exclusive channel would NOT solve the issue of people using abusive language, writing explicit descriptions or creating inappropriate content BECAUSE they are not the same thing.

A lot of people here are mixing things. The reportable part of ERP is the E, not the RP. The problem with swearing in RP context is the swearing, not the RP. The problem with describing a bunch of MLPonies being abused by mordrem is said description, not the RP.

If you try to segregate such kind of content to an “RP channel”, you’ll get 2 results:

1- Trolls will NOT go into the new channel. They will keep doing their stuff in the general area, because that is their purpose. And you’ll have to report them anyway.

2- You’ll ostracize all good RP, the one who add immersion and fun to the game, into an specific channel with a lot of trolls. You’ll force legit RPers who weren’t bothering anyone to take all the weight of a problem that doesn’t have anything to do with them. They will have to report the abusers anyway, RP or not, BECAUSE ABUSE AND RP ARE NOT THE SAME THING.

What people here seems to want is NOT an Exclusive RP channel. Is an Exclusive Inapropiate Content channel. Do you really think this is a good idea?

Just to be clear, I’ll love to have a way to help RPers be together. I don’t think an RP channel would help with this. And I think it wouldn’t help with the inapropiate content either.

I don’t hate Caithe, and I like she isn’t an enemy we can combat. Not all the problems are so simple: the relationship between the commander and Caithe is a huge challenge we can’t just blast with our weaponry.

Caithe is not an armed enemy: she is the beloved but problematic relative we don’t know how to deal with. THIS IS GREAT!

Mi problem with the commander blindly trusting Caithe in the last episode is the minimization of this problem. It looks dumb, defuses the tension and remove drama.

This mechanic would keep you on your toes trying to maintain your bar always in the perfect spot, without overcharging…

This again?
Ok. Summary:
1- Some people like mounts. Some people don’t. Arguments come and go always the same.
2- Mounts could be a great cosmetic addition to the gemstore, say someone. They will contibute to the visual clutter that already drowns the game, answer someone.
3- Mounts couldn’t have speed boosts because that would destroy the balance in the exploration part of the game, explains someone. People who plays only combat oriented despises this reasoning and use recursive arguments to say mounts with boost being non-combat only should be ok.
4-Mounts could look so cool, says one. They will stress up the servers, accuses another. Technical discussion about processing resources, graphic properties and toggles ensues. Not conclusive.
5- Someone mention cosmetic mounts already exist, in the form of travel toys like the flying carpet. Mount fans don’t like that solution and recognize they want speed boosts anyway.
6- People began to post lush examples from other games. WOW fans shine. WOW fans are encouraged to go back to play that.
7- Someone says Anet already said they never allow mounts. Someone says Anet never said that. No sources are given on any of these claims.
8- Back to 1 a few times.
9- Topic get merged with the big one.
10- Lots of dead horse beating gifs and images.

I’m all in favor of adding more emotes!

However, PyroPrincess, I think you should revise the emotes we actually have, because some of the ones you request already exist, or have a decent alternative.

For Hi and Bye most people uses /wave, or /salute, or even /bow.
For Shocked the option is using /surprised.
For Pray, we have /kneel. You can even use it in the shiverpeaks to get bonuses from the spirit shrines. The asura version is EXACTLY what you describe as a “holy knight one-kneeled position”.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Emote here is a complete list.

On the other side, there are lots of emotes we do need. Anet added a few ones with the LS3: /upset (/facepalm is the same), /talk, /crossarms, /sad and /thanks, which I thank a lot, but they are still not enough.

We still need the /chair one, an /applause, a /yawn, a /highfive, a less exagerated /laugh, etc. /kiss and /handshake could be hard to do, but would be incredibly amazing to see available in game.

Other ideas I would like to see:
/idle: just a new bunch of random idle animations. It could be linked to professions, races or even gamemodes.
/afk: it is also automatically prompted when the user don’t activate any command for a time. The character sleeps standing, drooling and making slow circles with the head.
/inventary: it is also automatic when you spend more than 30 secs on your inventary. The character unpacks and search things in its clothes and bags.
/timeout or /brb: The character makes the typical “t” gesture with the hands and stands that way for a while. Alternatively, it could make the gesture of looking its watch while impatiently tapping the floor with one foot.

This would save a lot of time for the team.

The thing is, Devs would have to go through literally thousands of different submitted mods just to check they don’t contain profanity, check for bugs and quality of life, before they even judge which would ‘win’ as a release. That alone would not save any time at all, but would use up a lot more developing hours than them coming up with their own content.

I can’t agree with this. While properly checking something for bugs, errors and other aspects in fact require time, you don’t need to filter everything in full to judge if it is useable or not. That’s not how public contests work.

You use multiple layers for filtering, starting with the most broad and easy ones, (We are asking for a sword, that is a helmet, next) and leaving the more specific and hard for the final stages (These 5 are clearly the best ones, lets see if they are safe to use). This makes the process eficcient and fast, and yes, testing stuf this way is faster than producing content AND testing it (Which you HAVE to do anyway).
