Their intent is to force players to try new things. Unfortunately this means they likely won’t make changes that conflict with this.
Sorry I just had to fix that.
ANet should stop interfering with how players should play the game. If I want to play a Necro in PvP it should be MY choice not ANet’s.
This Change has Totally F……. My game up , With these new Dailys . I dont do pvp wvw
so now I have no reason to log on anymore until this has been changed .I know nonone will agree with my views , but this is how i feel , and i was compelled to write in these forums , something i really dont enjoy .
Actually I agree. Like many others I don’t like it either.
Even as a lvl80 It’s still not comfortable enough. I dislike Silverwastes and Fractals are pretty much non existant to me. Had to turn in 25 WvW Badges to fill the 3rd spot, which isn’t something I was keen to waste.
Not that I care about AP’s but with the old daily, I could get 6-8 AP’s a day without being forced into doing things I don’t like.
EDIT: It’s not about AP’s for me, but freedom, which has been taken away.
Before this crappy update came in, one could do the daily just by normally playing the game. Now it feels more like a chore and robotic.
Before this update dailies were also essentially pointless. Sure they were easy but we got next to nothing for completing them. I’m a bit surprised so many people are upset about something I thought most of us ignored or took for granted.
They are still easy, not complaining on that, but I could finish them while playing the game without feeling like a kitten robot. I could care less for the little stuff they give, it’s pointless anyway.
There’s no need to give the laurels after 28 days, 1 a day was fine as it is.
As for today’s daily. There are very poor choices:
- Ascalon Vista Viewer
- Kryta Lumberer
- Guardian Winner
- Necromancer Winner
- Daily Pvp Capture
- 11-20 Fractal
- Daily Silverwastes
- WvW Big Spender
- WvW Land Claimer
- WvW Objective Defender
- WvW Tower Capturer
As a PvE’er who doesn’t like Silverwastes and fractals, there’s very little choice for me in there, the first 2 in the list to be specific, I’ll have to waste 25 badges just like that to get the 3rd and I don’t like WvW or PvP at all.
Ever since the game was released, I never have had a problem with the daily up until yesterday’s patch.
To put this in clear text: A few extra chests here and there don’t make this a better system.
Before this crappy update came in, one could do the daily just by normally playing the game. Now it feels more like a chore and robotic.
Why do I have to travel to a specific map to get lumber? Really, daily gatherer didn’t impose any limits and you could simply gather any 20 materials from anywhere and get the achieve.
Also the lack of that daily Laurel is another kick in the teeth, I don’t play much anymore but that daily laurel helped me work for my legendary weapon.
I don’t care if I’ll get a gazillion laurels after 28 days or whatever, I never complained with the way it was. This update is plain stupid.

The game is fine in the morning up until about 5-6pm, then the lag starts. I lose connection from the friends list, sometimes guild roster shows only me, at times I can only chat in say or map channels then randomly disconnect a few minutes later.
Tonight the lag was fairly less and I’m playing right now as I write this. Hopefully will end soon.
Attached screenshot with traceroute log and direct pings.
Posting your computer specs would help. Also regarding teq have you tried lowering all graphics to the lowest setting and restarting the game before the event?
During the melee part don’t go melee, stay ranged as your memory would fill up much slower that way.

I gave up trying to play, if it’s not one thing it’s another. The game remains unplayable no matter.
What’s weird is that 4 of my other friends are on the same server and not too far geographically either, yet I’m the only one that has it.

Same as yesterday, same hour, same problems. In my 9 years of playing (Since GW1), european servers always with problems, can ANet actually deal with this problem once and for all. There’s literally pages over pages regarding lag in euro servers.

I’m on Seafarer’s Rest too, and around the same time as yours I started lagging and get unplayable game behaviour.
At this very moment I can’t even get past the launcher login and If I do I’ll either get disconnected some minutes later or get skill lag or am unable to use party and guild chat.

Never understood why people keep giving money to a company that doesn’t care. Even if they reverse the change, the damage has been done.
I lost hope in this game and tbh this is why I never spent a single euro after buying the game, it’s just not worth it.
As Feirlista pointed out, you’re running out of memory and installing a 64bit OS would be the easiest solution, but if you want to avoid all that there’s a workaround. It’s called the 3GB Switch. I’ve done this process on many old gaming computers and it’s perfectly safe to use.
To Enable 3GB Switch:
1. Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
2. At the command prompt, enter “bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072”
3. Restart the computer.
If for some reason you want to disable it, you can revert the above changes with the commands below:
1. Right-click on Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
2. At the command prompt, enter “bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa”
3. Restart the computer.
I understand this is a gift but in all honesty, it’s useless to me since it sits on my ranger and I don’t play it often anymore.
Currently I have an ele which is only 1 week old and I’m loving it a lot and would like to put this item on him.
Why would I have to wait 2 years to be able to use an item I already have, on a character of my choice?
Like I said in the other thread, those who want to keep it on their original character fine do as you wish, but there’s no need to go ruining the fun for the others just because they want to use it on multiple characters.
This looks similar to when Legendary weapons became account bound.
My point in the end: The More options the better.
Should have been account bound to begin with in the first place. Even if this isn’t GW1 it still doesn’t make sense on having it soulbound, making it account bound will not hurt anyone.
And you can actually please everyone this one time, those who want it on the char they got it on can keep it there, others can move it around as they please.
For all that matters all those saying “this isn’t GW1 blah blah”, I remind you that the Mini Queen Jennah is account bound and that’s in GW2.
I would personally go with a 750 ti or R7 265, they might cost slightly more than 100$ but highly worth it in the long run.
Whatever card you’re going to buy make sure it doesn’t have 1 GB ram, they’re not worth the money.
Providing your system specs would help.
Also you could try deleting the Local.dat file located in your “C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2” and Launch the game.

Could you post your graphics card’s temperatures when this starts happening?
You can use HWMonitor (http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/hwmonitor.html)
Just remove WvW from map completion there is already to much PvE in WvW, it never should have been part of the 100% mapping anyway.
This ^
As a PvE player I never liked the idea of esploring WvW but in the end always managed to do it.
I have 4 characters with 100% Map, never asked a commander or anyone with anything to do it but I still agree that WvW shouldn’t be part of exploration, the only times I go there is for the monthly jumping puzzles and when I needed to explore, nothing more.
ANet needs to get their facts straight, not everyone likes WvW and it can hardly be considered a PvE area. They can keep all the Points of interests, Vistas etc but at least do the PvE’ers a favor by removing it from the the map completion.
Never have, never will. It’s a game and like every game I play, I like to work for the things I want and besides, I don’t see the game worthy of spending money on.
I hate how the game has become.
As Feirlista already pointed out, changing the MAC address is easy and I doubt that those gold sellers don’t know about it.
Accounts are for sure being banned so ANet is doing their part of the work, I say this cause every time I get a gold whisper I first report and then block the spammer, the next day they don’t come online so the accounts are being banned.
What has me wondering is how the hell they whisper me when I’m doing a dungeon, I’m in an instance and yet they still spam me (I know they can simply write my account name on a piece of paper but do they really bother with this so much?).
I doubt it’s a memory issue since I played it with no trouble at all a few months ago and it crashes while repairing as well.
My friend’s pc used to handle GW2 fine but as the game evolved and group events got bigger her game started crashing like every 15mins, she couldn’t participate in those events because of those crashes.
That was when we turned on the 3Gb Switch and now the game runs fine, no crashes at all.
Trying won’t hurt, you can always revert the changes following the guide on my first post.

Great tutorial, maybe you should add a warning that this affects other programs too, since this is a global setting not just for GW2.
Which file are you referring to in the temporary folder?
Since you have 3GB Ram total, you might be running out memory.
Try enabling the “3GB Switch”, here’s how to do it:
Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu.
Click Run as Administrator.
At the command prompt, enter “bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072”
Restart the computer.
If for whatever reason you’d like to revert the changes (switching the 3GB Switch off) follow this guide:
Right-click on Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu.
Click Run as Administrator.
At the command prompt, enter “bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa”
Restart the computer.

Hello,
GW2 Frame Limiter is bugged since day 1, For example setting it to 60 it will limit to 50. I use RivaTuner to properly limit the game to 60 fps.
Regarding your restarts check bios settings, on some systems there’s an option that automatically shuts down or restarts the pc once the cpu reaches a certain temperature. It may be set too low on the temperature :-)
Let me know how it goes.
Hello,
Can you post a screenshot of your game’s graphics settings please.

@dace: Nvidia drivers had trouble with GTX460 and 560 ti cards over the past few months. I used a 560 ti before upgrading last month, took me a while till I found a working driver.
The most recent successful one was version 332.21 and I’ve been fine with those drivers for well over 3 months.
When Installing different drivers, first remove the older ones. Never, ever use the Geforce Experience to automatically update drivers, it is known to cause problems.
When Installing new drivers I always go – Custom Installation and install only:
Graphics Driver
HD Audio Driver
Physx Software
3D Vision and Geforce Experience aren’t exactly essential. Also make sure you tick the “Perform Clean Installation” box, you’ll lose some settings but sometimes it helps to ensure the drivers work properly.
@UncrushablePigeon – I understand you’re frustrated and can’t play the game but ranting won’t solve your problem. Can you please post your system specs? Would be easier to get to the bottom of this.
(edited by ArmoredVehicle.2849)
GTX 560 ti and Nvidia drivers have had a lot of problems in the past few months. It’s a matter of finding a version that doesn’t crash your system.
Before Upgrading to a new card, I had a GTX 560 ti same as you, the best driver I could find that worked for me was version 332.21, you could try that to start with.
Best way to avoid the least problems possible is to Remove all current nvidia components, reboot the computer and perform a custom installation of the drivers.
I usually go like this:
Uninstall PhysX Software
Uninstall HD Audio Drivers (and reboot as requested)
Uninstall Graphics Drivers (and reboot as requested “again”)
Install new drivers and choose custom installation:
Custom installation I only choose: Graphics Drivers, HD Audio and PhysX
And don’t forget to tick the “Perform Clean Installation” box.
If you don’t have a 3D Monitor you don’t need to install the 3D Vision Components, also you don’t really need the Geforce Experience component either.
Hello,
Most likely you’re running out of memory by the description of the crashes. Can you post your crash log?
You can find this log in a file in the following folder “C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2”.
The file name should be something like ArenaNet.txt

Corsair CS Series 650W Modular 80+ GOLD – Here anyway with Dvi cable i have still issue but instead of crashing up game freezes for a moment and then runs again freeze is for about 5s then works for around another 5s.. ( but i clearly can see artifacts) . So right i will give it for guarantee but why really metro LL wasnt that heavy? weird
I have a similar issue as well, although it sounds like yours is much worse than mine.
Occasionally the game will lock up, the DVI input to the monitor will cease, and then it’ll usually come back after a few seconds and the game will continue running without any issues. I will usually get a “driver stopped responding but successfully recovered” message if I check the desktop notifications. This most often happens during heavy action areas (i.e. world boss fights with lots of people), but the issue has also occurred for me in sPvP.
Sometimes when I lose the DVI input, it comes back but the game just displays a black screen with my cursor sitting there (which I can move), and I have to terminate the application. Other times it continues running without sound and then eventually locks up completely, and I have to terminate it. These situations don’t happen that often though.
All of these are when I run the game on max settings (aside from render sample, which I always keep on normal). If I tone the settings down to minimum (with the exception of a few things like visible character limit, character detail, and render sample), this issue has never occurred. This includes during massive zerg fights in WvW and large world boss encounters.
I don’t believe the difficulties experienced in GW2 is proof enough to conclude the GPU is defective. I have a suspicion that it’s something to do with the Nvidia drivers rather than something wrong with the GPU itself. In the past, this issue was actually a bit more severe (i.e. would crash more frequently), but updating the driver version made it behave like it does now (less severe, but still encounters problems).
Regardless, if you haven’t tried dropping your settings down, you might try that. I haven’t spent time tweaking each one to find if it’s only a few settings that inevitably cause the issue, but I never encounter this problem when I crank almost all of them down (which is generally a good idea to do for massive zerg content anyways).
For reference, my driver version is 335.23.
This is most likely caused by the driver. Happened a lot to me on some driver versions.
Your same problem has been happening to a friend a few days ago and the driver version was something similar to yours.
Remove all nvidia components, reboot the computer and perform a custom installation of the drivers.
The last drivers I used were version 332.21 and (as of 2 days ago) 337.88
Hope this helps.
As a rule of thumb I dislike auto updating and with nvidia’s case of hit or miss drivers be very cautious.
I’ve unparked my CPUs a couple weeks ago, I noticed a slight performance increase in GW2.
As for temperatures and system stability – all good. Highly recommended.
I’ve read on a few forums that this helps other games such as Rome 2, Battlefield 3/4 and other CPU bound games.
EDIT: The tool from coderbag.com is virus free. All the tool does is check a few registry entries and modifies them for you. You can even revert those settings if for whatever reason you don’t like them.

I just got the recipe and the mats required are insane, no way I’m gonna craft that.
It should be reworked to like:
1 Bloodstone Brick
15 Piles of Crystalline Dust
1 Deldrimor Steel Ingot
What good is an item if it’s overpriced and no one uses it? Might as well take it down a few notches and you have a useful recipe there.

You could try deleting / moving your GW2 “Local.dat” file which is where your game settings are saved. Those kind of settings are Key remaps, sound and graphics settings for the most part.
This file can be found in: “C:\Users\(YourUserName)\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2”
I suggest moving the file first just in case the problem doesn’t go away you can put it back in the folder.
It would help if you could post your pc specs. Also, having the latest drivers doesn’t always mean they are the best.
You say when you hit play it crashes your pc, be more specific please.

Is your computer connected to 1 monitor, and is it connected with DVI or HDMI?
Nvidia had many problems with drivers lately (by lately I mean months) so it’s all a matter of getting the right ones, the driver reboot is caused by a bad driver usually (I’ve had many drivers doing this when I used my 560ti until I finally got one that works).
I don’t change drivers often, the ones that worked really good for me were version 314.22 and the more recent 332.21. Today I’ve also tried the newly released 337.88 and they’re working really good so far.
When installing drivers don’t select the express install. Choose custom installation and install only these components:
Graphics Drivers
Physx Software
HD Audio Drivers
Also make sure to tick the “Perform Clean Installation” box.
Try the 3 versions I mentioned, I’d suggest 332.21 first. They worked good for months in my case.

Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
Installed memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
and I’m currently running a NVIDIA 650 TI graphics card.
According the GW2 requirements, I’m over the minimum requirements. I also ran the CAN YOU RUN IT test and passed.
The game runs smooth I just noticed what I mentioned and found it to be odd. I know sometimes these things also happen with game updates as I am no new mmo player.
Looking forward to your reply after you update.
Ok so I installed it a few minutes after my first message.
The game has been running for me, no blinks or anything unusual than my previous ones (332.21).
Did you install the new drivers using Geforce Experience? I’ve read that quite a few people had trouble installing the 337.88 with it.
When I update my drivers I always do a clean install following this order:
Uninstall Physx Driver
Uninstall HD Audio Driver (and reboot the system)
Uninstall Graphics Driver (and the reboot the system again)
Then I reboot again in safe mode and run a free program called Driver Fusion to remove any leftovers from the old drivers. When done I reboot again in normal mode and start installing the new drivers.
When Installing new drivers I always tick the “Perform Clean Install” option and install only the – Graphics Drivers, Physx and HD Audio components. Personally I don’t need the rest.
Lastly, it’s hard to get perfect working drivers across every system in the world. The latest drivers don’t always mean they’re the best. If you’re fine with the older drivers then maybe you don’t need to update yet.
My System Specs:
CPU – i5 2400
Ram – 8GB
GPU – EVGA GTX 760
OS – W7 64bit
Do you have anything else running Beside GW2?
Those numbers under System Memory report that you have 32GB Ram with a 65GB Paging File.
Actually you can run the game at low/medium settings as Kharr mentioned.
I have a system with lower specs and the game runs at 20-40 fps outside of big events such as WvW and World Bosses.
Does your BF’s MacBook use an SSD hard drive? if yes, that’s the cause of his fast loading screens.
Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHsGmS3bJ8U&feature=youtu.be
Those specs can still pack a good punch for GW2 (and modern games) but if you’re looking to upgrade your system just for GW2 I’d try a few tweaks before spending all that money.
Enabling the “3GB Switch” on Windows XP will most likely fix the out of memory issues and game crashes. I’ve tried this on some friends’ systems and it fixed the problem.
Also what kind of problem are you having with Windows 7 and your graphics card?
OP providing your system specs would help your issue a bit more.
Nvidia drivers tend to be hit or miss, took them to 6 months to fix an issue with 400/500 series.
I’m going to update to 337.88 myself later today to check out the new shader cache. Will reply back as soon as I do.
Answer to question 1:
GTX 760 will do nicely for that build, I got one last month and and goes well with my i5 2400 CPU. Your FPS will improve but not by much since GW2 is cpu bound.
Answer to question 2:
67 is fine but I’d watch it during the summer. I run a Coolermaster Hyper 212 and temperature floats around 47-49 degrees with GW2.
It could also be a fake email to trick you in giving out your password. I used to get a lot of these emails and the funny part is that they arrive on the email address I no longer use for my GW account.
Also I use Thunderbird as my mail client and whenever a suspicious email arrives I can easily check out the message source and trace the ip address the email came from, the last ones I checked regarding GW2 came from China, that’s certainly not a genuine ANet message.
I managed to fix the issue! found out that I needed to unpark my cores and a few of my cores whern’t even being used so I just unparked them and my frame rate is much smoother and stable now.
(Youtube How to unpark cpu cores).
Mind you I still think gw2 has crappy optimization but this should help some of you. Frame rate won’t be all over the place..
Thank you so much for this, hadn’t heard about this thing before. Without the frame limiter my game never went past 85 fps. Tried your suggestion and now GW2 reaches even 118 fps.
After googling a bit I found this program to do the job really well: http://www.coderbag.com/Programming-C/Disable-CPU-Core-Parking-Utility
Virus checked and tested it on my pc, all good.
Thanks for sharing.

I think this topic is a bit way too advanced for the OP with the reflow method and all. Should start with the simple ones first.
I suggest cleaning the laptop first, if you remove any components make sure they’re tight when putting it back together.
Download HWMonitor: (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) this will help you monitor your temperatures.
If you notice that the GPU is hitting the high numbers the likes of 90+ degrees then most probably the next step would be to get a laptop cooler, these help a lot especially during the summer.
My friend used to get those artifacts a lot during summer, they stopped entirely during winter which indicates it was an overheating issue.
