I’m not sure that making accusations based on a test sample of 100 is valid.
In actuality, however, all the zones in the game have a possibility of granting rewards that are not exactly trivial for max-level characters. Heck, I’ve gotten not one, but two sets of Holographic Dragon Wings, both on a <10 character, and both in Plains of Ashford. While I do not expect that these results are common, it illustrates that, in order to get rewards that you may actually want at max level, you are by no means limited to CS, FGS, and SSC.
Ive been playing low level content on my level 80 for the event items/coffers myself.
So far Ive opened better than 2500 coffers without getting any reward of note (4 risen knights).
In the end I do not see how anything would be gained by eliminating this forum.
you and I would be doing something more enjoyable than bickering… most of the threads devolve into bickering it seems with hundreds of unnecessary responses that are some iteration of “I told you so…” “I’m right, you’re wrong…” or just plain insults.
I have seen nothing to support your implication that bad behavior would cease to exist with this forum. My counter to your position on that matter is that bad forum behavior existed before this forum came into being.
I do not consider a discussion to be bickering.
Ultimately if people are enjoying their, “debates,” then they are being entertained through this forum’s existence. None of us are forced to read the threads and posts here. So, your suggestion to remove this forum would not have any direct** impact those who prefer to not read it but would deprive those who do enjoy reading it of a source of entertainment.
**note that I said, “direct impact.” The indirect impact is the very likely result that the, “bickering,” would move to the forums where people who don’t want to see it have gone.
More and more I am experiencing this habit that the community has to despise people who claim to be skilled for this game.
Try it: go to LA, and say that you are a good player.
(Note: I am not saying I do it. This sentence is for rhetorical purposes)People will instantly tell you that you lack humility, that you are an elitist, that you are despicable etc; for no reason.
People do not want to see or be aware of the fact that some players can be more skilled than them (no boasting, just statement of skill). The community seem to believe that they would be better off without such players.
It appears as if the community would like to stay bad and play only with bad people. It is also the same on the forums.
I believe this is not benefiting the game in itself because it promotes stale and boring gameplay additions rather than diverse and challenging content.
As a comparison: when you play football as an amateur you play it for fun and you dream of being as skilled as the players of international level. In GW2 the ’amateurs" have no such dreams, worse: they do not want to face the fact that being better is possible.
With all due respect, why the discrimination?
Someone who goes out of their way to announce their greatness to an audience not seeking the information is bound to get some degree if flack.
True greatness in some endeavor is not something you need to shout to the world.
I play WvW. Doesn’t matter how bad the loot in little events get or how you can’t ever perma lock events into spawning 100000 mobs for you to kill. You’re loot is still 100,000x better than anything WvW related.
I disagree. I get more and better loot in WvW than I do in the open world, generally. Are you killing mobs, or ignoring them?
I kill mobs in WvW and get nothing comparable to what is possible in the open world.
No T6 mats. No bags from centaurs and skritt? No powerful blood? No armored scales?
My apologies. I was not sufficiently clear. I refer to both quantity as well as quality. I get fewer drops, in no small part because there are fewer mobs. The risk level is higher because focusing on a group of mobs is practically an invitation to a wandering player looking to score a kill.
The loot bags are a step down from the heavy bags found in level 80 PvE zones. In addition, for whakittens worth, the gathering nodes (a not inconsequential source of revenue in PvE for me) in WvW are generally of lower tier than can be found in level 80 PvE zones as well.
I WvW for the fun of it knowing that any loot/income gain will be a fraction of what I could be getting with the same expenditure of time (and generally much less risk) in PvE.
In my experience, the loot bags in WvW are no worse than any bag found in PvE. I’m pretty sure they’re the top level back since top level bags drop from anything 75 and above is the highest level bag and all creatures in WvW are level 80.
I really do get quite good stuff from those bags.
The ones I get are, “large,” not, “heavy,” bags. Large bags are a step down from the heavy variety. They can, and do, include good mats, but not to the same degree as you get from the, “heavy,” class of bags. Hmm, I checked the wiki and noted that both Large and Heavy are listed as drops in WvW. Perhaps I have just had terrible luck (or perhaps the Heavy bags are rarer in WvW).
In either case the yield is much lower than in PvE.

There is more than one section of the forums all of us can use to express ourselves in but I cannot think of any section on this game’s site that is as full of vitriol, uneccessary rants, undeserved insults, and general utter lameness.
Your reply was first and it exemplifies how near these forums are approaching Blizzard forum badness. You make a remarkable claim with no proof “…no one from Anet reads suggestion pages…” as if you have any idea what anyone at ANet reads and then you follow this up by insulting another player.
It would be better to eliminate this section of the forums then allow them to continue as a place for such base behavior.
And you make a remarkable claim with no proof, “This section of the forums is not helping anyone, save people who want to vent or post hundreds of times in order to stroke their own ego.”
That also falls into the same realm for which you call out others, “insulting another player.”
I mean the hypocrisy there is mindboggling. You start the thread by insulting players and making up facts and follow up by lambasting others for doing the same.
you’re right- I should have worded that differently but the sentiment remains and I believe that it is accurate.
I did not insult any player by name and that is what I meant when I responded to Resonance’s comment about Vayne. My objection is not regarding Vayne or any specific forum poster. I honestly do not think Vayne is stroking his own ego, but rather I think he’s trying to help others most of the time…but I don’t know him nor do I have time to read all of his posts.
My objection is regarding the devolved state of this particular section of the forums and I believe it would be better to just eliminate this one section of the forums.
Understood that you did not insult any player by name, instead you insulted every player who has ever posted here. I am not sure that is the preferable option.
I don’t have an issue with your basic idea. I disagree with it, but you are entitled to your opinion. I do disagree with the basic idea of insulting everyone and complaining when they engage in the same sort of behavior.
Now, on topic.
What would be served by eliminating this forum ?
It would push the sort of posts/posters that seem to concern you into the specialty forums where people go for specific assistance, information, etc.
Concentrating all of the worst of things in one area where those who are offended by it can more readily avoid the negativity is likely to do more good than harm in my opinion.
In the end I do not see how anything would be gained by eliminating this forum.
If they were to add the GW1 mesmer to the game I’d be glad to pay 35€ just for that,
I feel the same about the GW1 Ranger.

I rather dislike most of the legendaries that I have seen so far.
Sigh, oh for my Stormbow.
In game rewards are rather underwhelming. This isn’t just the value, but also the presentation.
I mean going on an epic adventure so that you might get yet another piece of porous bone ? Such mundanity has its place but its all I see.
After many hundreds of hours of play at level 80 I have yet to see a single drop that I can use.
An unnecessary stab at people who do not share your vision of an RPG, perhaps?
Nope. A criticism on how players are responsible for some of the worst flaws in GW2.
I’m not going go to into how a farmer basically states that he’s no better than a Skinner rat. It wouldn’t bother me that much if it were just a matter of someone renouncing his humanity like that. It isn’t, though.
What farmers (and grinders, addicts and exploiters) have taught MMO developers is that there is no point in making a game fun. Fun is subjective – trying to make a given piece of content to be “fun” will, 100% of the time, result in something that some will like, and others will not. Making fun content is hard, too.
But do you know what is very easy do build? Grind. Just throw something players can kill over and over, give a shiny reward for it, and players will jump there. No need to actually work to make it interesting, farmers don’t care.
As a result, what updates do we get in Guild Wars 2? Improved storytelling? Better cinematics, like what we had seen in the original Guild Wars by the time of the BMP? Challenging content?
No, of course not. There is no point in any of that. Making repetitive, mindless content and throwing 200% Magic Find is enough to make farmers play until their fingers bleed. Who cares about good content? Grinders certainly do not.
MMORPGs won’t ever be great games, because the current community of MMORPG players don’t want great games – they want to revel in cesspools of grind.
Interesting contradictions. Fun is subjective, but you get to decide what is fun for others.
Open world group events also, generally, generate greater mob density and spawn rate. This means more drops per minute of play. More drops means more mats/coin. Participating in some of these events means a higher rate of income generation than much other open world content.
If you meant a lack of chests, well yes, you are correct. But chests are not the only form of rewards in the game.
All open world group events (that I have seen) have rewards.
Energy management techniques in GW1 often rendered energy, as a means of game balance, ineffective.
The best builds completely bypassed energy limitations.
Hmm, varies with situation I guess. Path of Scars can hit a large target twice each coming and going. Ive seen 4.2k x4 vs a single large foe with crits. Of course you will land an autoattack or two during the flight of the PoS attack as well.
It depends.
If my guildies and I are interested, for chuckles, in seeing how an all Thief party does in AC explorable, or something of the sort, then it would kind of defeat the purpose to include a Warrior right ?
I agree that the FX can be overwhelming. What is the point of having a dodge system if you cannot see the mob, its tell, or its attack, through the various strobing effects.
Besides, isn’t building an effective gear a part of being a skilled player?
No. It is not.
1. It’s just a WoW re brand job
2. what is with the viewpoint areas in the map? did i buy assassins creed?
3. there is zero point in choosing a profession based on how that profession helps a party, seeing as they have scrapped that idea and gone with “every prof can do anything” idea.
4. i understand its a fantasy game but when have rangers used great swords? and elementalists used daggers? in any form of fantasy rpg? takes the point out of choosing a ranger for his bow and an ele for his backline nuking skills.
5. no monks? Understandably with the way gw2 plays now you cant monk seeing as its basically you alone against the world most of the time. Might be hard for the non monkers to understand but some players liked being dedicated healers, something slightly satisfying knowing you have kept your team from wiping.
In point 1 you claim that GW2 is essentially a WoW clone, and then in 2-5 you prove that it is not.
How can you reconcile claiming that it is a WoW reskin and then listing how it is not ?
My arguments are infallible since no one here has managed to refute them. The great majority has not even tried.
There is a serious lapse in logic here.
People not trying to refute claims that have not been adequately (if at all) supported by substantial (or any) evidence is not an indication that the claims are infallible.

Something to keep in mind is that asking for others to interact with you in the manner you desire (text) while attempting to deflect suggestions that you interact with them in the manner to which they are accustomed or desire (speech) dilutes the impact of your position.
“I want people to interact with me more. It is not too much effort, nor too much to ask for.”
vs
“I feel that such interaction must be on my own terms. It is too much effort and/or to ask that I, seeking interaction from others, meet them halfway.”
2k hours ? In less than 9 months ? Thats approximately 8 hours per day, seven days per week, 30 days per month ! Holy cow ! (no insult intended, just amazed).
That said, it may very well be how you are playing. I play perhaps as much as ten hours per week and have accumulated max level exotics, laurel jewelry, hundreds of gold, etc…without grinding (the dailies might be considered grindy if they werent so quickly completed while doing other things.
Ultimately one must set one’s priorities. If you need a legendary to enjoy the game then you should pursue it vigorously. Keep in mind though that Legendary’s are nothing special as far as stats. They are the equivalent of getting aparticular weapon skin in GW1. I know plenty of people who spent many more than 2k hours playing GW1 without getting a Q9 Silverwing Recurve Bow. That didn’t change the fact that their gear was top notch.
Similarly, having a legendary in GW2 is about having a particular rare weapon skin, not about having top level gear. No one who spends the time to get a legendary is doing so for the stats because, just like in GW1, the rare skin is the goal. Max stats are easy to get.
Don’t label all players who love hard and challenging content jerks.
Jerks are 14 year olds who think they’re tough over the internet. If I’m making a team to do content X I expect you to know how to play properly or at least to have the ability to adapt fast.
I wouldn’t call this elitism, I want competent players in my team.
For what its worth this is elitism. This is the very definition of elitism. Setting a bar and requiring that one reach it before considering them for inclusion is pretty much THE standard for the term.
I am not expressing this as a negative commentary, elitism is not inherently a bad thing (anyone who thinks that elitism is bad should ask themselves if they would rather have a surgeon who was top of his class and is considered one of the best in his field, or the guy who flunked out of medical school twice before finally managing, barely, to graduate). so please do not take offense. But, what you have described is elitism.
Some interesting generalities, lacking in accuracy as broad sweeping statements about groups of people generally are, combine with some factual inaccuracies to make the entire review suspect.

I have a 50-60 hour per week job, a wife, and other out of game commitments and still manage to do my dailies.
I am not saying that your experiences are wrong or inaccurate in any way OP, but what holds you back ?
For a game that was suppose to have an emphasis on vanity, we’ve gotten very little new vanity items to strive for outside of the gem shop stuff (which has been primarily town clothes).
I tend to agree with this. I was expecting a much higher rate of armor/weapon skin addition (both in game and cash shop) than has occurred so far.
In a buy to play, or even free to play, game the cash shop is the primary source of ongoing revenue generation. Putting new “skins” in the cash shop is a means of ensuring that it does not get stale and is able to continue to generate sales.
New options have been, and seem to be continuing to be, added to the game. Weapon skins in the SAB, the new gauntlets from the living story, etc. As much or more displayable gear (I am not counting civilian clothing in this) is being added to be earned in game than to the cash shop.
Ultimately you are asking for more, “free stuff,” in a game that is already adding free content, both playable and wearable, fairly frequently.
I don’t feel like reading your wall of text can you summarize it please, thank you.
I don’t think that a response that is properly formatted into sentences and paragraphs, with appropriate breaks, constitutes a wall of text.
I am curious, why would one frequent a text based discussion board if not willing to read ?
Everyone and everything is dying.
Your burnout on the game has no bearing on this.
No you are most definitely not too late. Log in and have fun.
