At first I was going to say “sigh another post of I don’t like X, again!” …but then after reading your post, I feel like I got frustrated on your behalf.
The AFKs at spawn are really awful :|
Well assuming they release it somewhere around Q3 2015 – it’ll be almost 3 years since GW2’s official release, and from what I heard, they have been working on this since inception. So is the primary information they released too little? Yes. Can the expansion be huge? Yes. SHOULD it be huge given the time taken? Most certainly. If it’s not, then it’s an utter disappointment given how long it took then – plus the future will look quite bleak.
LOL — and they said we have the friendliest community in all of MMO’s.. LOLOLOL
We do, we just don’t want to have challenging content be hindered by people who fail to understand mechanics, and run around without thinking of what needs to be done.
Frustration just isn’t fun. There needs to be a way to interact with the game in a way that I can figure out what to do next.
100% Agreed. Frustration isn’t fun. You know how you get frustrated? By not trying to understand what needs to be done. Take a step back, think, and re-approach. You spent 4-5 hrs on this. I don’t mean to sound rude, but the fault pretty much lies on your end for not being to figure out the mechanics. Figuring things out is half the fun, vs. just dps’ing a boss down mindlessly.
White circles are good. Red circles are bad. Pretty evident in both PvE & WvW. How you fail to realize that, well..I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you panicked under stress.
When you see NORMAL players unable to proceed, don’t dismiss them as noobs; take it to heart. Add some clues. Give some direction. Look at those camera angles. Show us an overhead view such that when an NPC tosses over some fire, we SEE it tossed over, AND we see it land.
When our pals grant us protection, have them SAY that. Not just “maybe you can use this”, with no connection to the out-of-sight protection sphere that the game intends as the only way to make progress. Change the dialog when we obviously don’t “get it”. Have the NPC say, “here’s a protection sphere; go stand under it”.
Unless you have tunnel vision, and don’t look up, down or around you – you can SEE the divine fire being tossed.
Also I found the dialogue pretty understandable, given that the bubbles gives protection. I also did this on my Ranger, extremely fast too. You have 2 stabilities, use them if you don’t get the protection bubble. Rampage As One & Signet of the Wild.
If you are the type of player to get easily frustrated, then just relax, take a break – wait for a guide to go up and then do it. Otherwise, try to look around you and understand the mechanics.
I hope that helps, good luck on your future endeavors
EDIT: Asking a friend for help or guidance also does wonders!
Instead of “Full Zerk 9K AP Only No Noob or Kick” with the buffs in conditions, it’ll become “Full SINISTER 9K AP Only No Noob or Kick” ..since sinister is basically zerker condition.
Pick your meta!
At no point was it announced that it is a legendary staff. For all we know, it may be a Druid related weapon.
Something…anything! As much as I love doing WvWing it feels so boring and stale now after so long
If there is no expansion, we will all swim in the tears of our disappointment LS is good, but it’s not enough. The episodes are too short.
Where is all the HY-…no? ok kicks the sand
This is more of an issue with the maze, where dead people at the Lesser Nightmare Chest, don’t respawn. That drives me up the wall. Because you can’t get the chest and continue, or worse, you get attacked by the wolves there…
If there was a replay mote that might not be to bad, but that topic is in another thread. Dodge master plus cinematic replay plus thief skills equals fury. Do I really need to jump backwards into who knows what every time I need to heal?
Replay Mote. Yes, that would definitely help a lot.
Regarding the heal move. If you use it properly it’s actually really good. It allows you to stand and do dmg while taking a bit of heat, and then instantly disengage from combat with a heal, which you can then combo it off with skill #3 and leap back into action.
The mechanic needed to do this properly seems to be impossible on slower computers. The Asura rotation and response speed leaves me with a window to act that is shorter than the time it takes to move-in and disable.
Caithe’s skills can also be infuriatingly erratic on slow computers… every freaking dodge, roll or tumble can lead to instant death when the timing of the action is +/- a second or two.
If something isn’t tweaked on this then I will have to forget the Living Story, just like those speed intensive holiday JPs.
The fault here isn’t really on ANet’s side…just saying. Caithe’s skills work great and as intended when played on a normal computer ._.
They gave you a free game (except for initial purchase) it’s your responsibility to see if you have the specifications to play it or not.
Yeah doing this without the guide was a blast. I was like..where do I go? left? right? up? bottom? xD
Pro Tip: Always check the gemstore first.
I have seven fully developed level 80 with mostly ascended armor and I am very to somewhat familiar with those seven professions. My eighth character is my level 3 pack mule and is you guessed it a thief. I despise thieves and what is the first character they force you to play? A kittening thief.
I managed to skill spam my way through the story OK, but now I need to get the achievements so I can get the armor skins. I see much frustration and anger in my future. Thanks ANet.
(Yes I can go with a party and get carried through, but that takes the personal accomplishment out of it for me.)
Sigh …the odds of someone disliking thief vs the majority …you see where I’m going with this? Yeah. This argument can be used by anyone with a particular dislike for a certain profession, it’s such a niche issue that it’s almost meh…
I’m sorry that you don’t like that profession, however from what I read, you like personal achievement, so why not attempt to be good at playing an OP thief and get your rewards?
Some non-aggressive “yellow” mobs. yes. “red” mobs, no thanks.
I just dislike the untold lore and side story potential that is being lost throughout the releases…
I think you can get an order from completing the new Ambassador’s Aid achievement in the Silverwastes.
^ This. Do the Ambassador’s Aid achievement. After that you get a Boot Requisition Order which you can double click to unlock the boots from the Vendor at Camp Refuge that allows you to buy the boot box for 1000 Bandit Crest + 1g.
As someone with almost 3000 hrs clocked in my lv80s…this was a refreshing change. Come on now, it was only 1 hour. Was 1 hour of playing as a new character THAT bad?
I’d love to see how people will lose their kitten if ANet had Bonus Packs like they did in GW1 ha…Although given the direction ANet is taking, I really hope they can nail the firstborn story right…this one seemed blah. A bonus pack for the “Story of the Firstborns” would be so perfect.
The team who made this JP is absolutely brilliant. Keep up the great work 10/10
The vastness and depth of this puzzle was amazing, and I really enjoyed the “leap of faith” moves you had to make in order to progress through puzzle as it wasn’t really clear-cut on where to go at certain points. This to me, forced exploration which is always good!
Guild Wars 3 confirmed! Or is “Cantha confirmed” the more accurate joke to make here?
In any case, where is this blindfolded Rytlock people are talking about? I don’t remember seeing it anywhere. In fact, all we got on the Rytlock front is that no one’s seen him since he jumped in the portal, as far as I recall.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled my friend:
Did you even try to figure out what you had to do? Or were you just attacking it? :S
The mechanism is really simple once you figure it out…you don’t even have to attack the boss. The previous two fight perfectly sets you up for this one…
So no, this boss is not frustrating at all.
Best solution as said previously:
1. Have a “Custom Amount” button where we can put in however many gems/gold we want to convert
2. Bring back the “Conversation Rate Chart”
Those two along with what you have newly implemented for your given reasons would be the ideal solution to this conflict.
That being said, I also have to be vocal regarding the fact that this change was absolutely not required, the system was perfectly fine as it was. Any “QoL” update such as this should be communicated to us ahead of time, so that you can get our feedback. Right now what this resulted in is unnecessary headache, anger and disappointment from both the parties. Mind you, the reason we are angry is that we love this game with a passion, and you love making this game for us, so let’s all get on the same page
A game were aesthetics is the end-game, and we are presented with outfits. Oh the irony.
And the outfits aren’t aesthetically pleasing?
Some components, but not the whole set. i.e. that weird cone shaped collar in Ceremonial outfit. Mix+Match provides more creativity than slapping on a premade set.
A game were aesthetics is the end-game, and we are presented with outfits. Oh the irony.
Please please, don’t take the difficulty out of the content. The boss fight for me, was pretty easy, I didn’t fully die, but I did get downed about twice during the achievement run that requires the pod activated (boss aoe hurts while you are rooted…). Anyway, I found the fight still doable.
If you have difficulty in the fight, try asking others for advice? retrait? bring different weapons? different gear if you are not comfortable with berserker? try different class?
I just finished mine last night. I must admit, I’m not very impressed by the backpack design at all, and I fear it’s the final form because we didn’t get a seed or anything. Only made it because of Mawdrey II – getting rid of pesky dusts gives me more additional bank space, which is a plus I suppose.
I like jumping and jumping puzzles, and I hope they won’t get removed either.
But that said, I do agree that perhaps an “Infantile” mode to get around the map is needed for those who, for whatever reason, are just not capable of using the Aspects or jumping. The vine walkways/ladders, or maybe a balloon pilot who takes you to different locations for a fee (he does it for free once you complete an event where you help him), are some possible ideas.
What do you mean by “Infantile”? What does it compare to?
He/she is referring to the “Infantile” mode from SAB.
My alts are lv80. Re playability doesn’t work. I did the main story on my Ranger, tried to do the achievement run on my Warrior. Didn’t work.

Doing the “Story Episode” for the Living Story Season 2 in one character, should unlock the repeatability across ALL characters, aka account bound. Clearly it’s not the case here. Fix it please ANet
I had to log-in just to reply to this topic! Congrats on your achievement! It truly is Legendary
Ignore all the critics here, they are just bitter and/or need something to complain about to make themselves feel good.
And yes people, this is indeed a great feat, I remember people posting about “World’s First Sunrise!”, etc. so why shouldn’t he post something like this? lol
What other games have you played? Lol
Think about it. If you think you can take out a zerg without the AoE cap, don’t you think a zerg can easily wipe you without AoE cap? that’s the reason it was removed in the first place, to give small teams like you a chance to fight with the zergs. You are underestimating the power of a large group without AoE cap. Have you WvW’d since the beginning?
Come ‘ere OP, let me give you a hug You should go back to PvE it’s safer there.
Any type of PvP format is not a place for carebears – sorry that people are ruining your “karma” train :P
I wonder, how people will re-act if ANet had blended PvP-PvE Zones (I know EoTM almost falls into that category already lol). I foresee future threads as:
“I can’t do my heart quest! people are killing me! halp! this is unfair!!”
(edited by Avster.1935)
The bloodlust? it’s 0/5!!
Legendary is a luxury item.
If you craft your own ascended weapon they’ll cost around ~40g (check gw2spidy).
This means 20 ascended weapon ball parks around 800g, which is less than half of what it costs to make a legendary.
If your argument is regarding utility, you are better off making multiple ascended items.
I just want to point out that if event rewards increases, the prices in TP (soon) will also increase overall. This is due to the influx of wealth into the economy, and sellers now understand that they can charge higher for items. This results in purchasing power to return to its initial value.
All additional gold being pumped into the economy does is artificially increase the price of items, when in reality, the purchasing power remains the same.
So are you saying we are awesome…? If so, thank you
We have also seen this with Kaineng. Fear not, they fall as fast as they rise
From what I recall…Kaineng was supposed to come and face us in Tier 1…I never did see them…alas, the missed loot bags
Bahahaha, classic.
Player 1: “Guys we lost this week…”
Player 2: “How?!”
Player 1: “Agg decided to slaugther all of us!”
Player 2: “What?! Why?”
Player 1: “Because we decided to follow them and get some loot bags off the baddies”
Player 2: “Oh..well, that’s stupid. I bet BG must have paid them a lot of gold!”
Player 1: “I bet they did!”
In before the ability for server sabotage
EDIT: Before you hunger hippos start biting the bone, I’m being sarcastic.
I ..just want to point out that a WvW’er from TC is complaining about being double-teamed. That is all
Pretty sure others have way more but thus far this is what I have,

Omg feeding off the haters is so much fun! ahaha
I think that speaks volumes about what kind of person you are, getting your jollies from other peoples unhappiness.
I’m getting joy over the over-reaction you guys are having thinking that it is the end of the world or something. Lighten up, or log-off.
Omg feeding off the haters is so much fun! ahaha
Happy April’s Fools Day
We need to merge and delete all these threads and have a mod post saying,
“Relogging will remove the affects of bobble heads”
Easily done.
Please take the “other” topic to a different thread. Nice update Shrike Another great read.
Please don’t compare Game of Thrones Season 1 to GW2 Living Story Season 1, they are not even in the same league (no offense).
Any who even though you are using it as a metaphor, watch GoT Season 1 – it has important stuff. On the other hand you don’t have to know THAT much of what happened in GW2 Living Story Season 1. I’m sure you can find a short TL;DR version of it somewhere, that’ll set you up for the next season.
Hopefully this helps.
EDIT: This gave me a thought. ANet should have an in-game “book” that summarizes what happened in each season. That way, people who missed it can read it
Housing doesn’t fit in a “QoL” update. So unfortunately, no.
Current system: Double tax on death (WP and Repair)
New system: Single tax on death (WP)
They still need some gold sink in-game you know
But I do agree with the discount (50% ~ negotiable) for having 100% in areas where we have already completed it.
Champ train is ridiculously boring. Doing the same rotation over and over and over again. I can’t understand the mentality of some players Sure you can chat with your fellow farmers while doing it, but is it something you really want to do for hours and hours? Grinding. That’s what you are doing lol
