They will tank like crazy. Just wait it out.

Nope. How much precursors drop all depends on what is needed, but based on what Anet has previously done and that they don’t want to harm the market, the prices won’t drop like you’re predicting.

Weren’t you into precursor crafting yourself? checks post history: yes you are – or were, at least. Anyway, since launch, Anet has continuously changed markets if they believed it helped improve the game. They have never held back to stir up things, either economy-wise (by e.g. re-introducing items) or game-wise (by e.g. destroying the capital of Tyria).

Demand for these items will tank and, therefore, their prices will tank. And it will be a good thing, too. In its place though, I guess some items will rise in price exponentially (all that unspent gold has to go somewhere). We’ll know more once things like raids and guild halls have been introduced.

[snip]

Like whether I would craft precursors or not, guild halls and raids have zero relevance to this thread.

I won’t respond to the [snip] portion, there’s no point. I will respond to your comment on raids and guild halls, I thought you would have connected the dots. The gold which will no longer be spent on precursors has to go somewhere. Raids in most MMO’s usually go hand-in-hand with prized possessions, “status objects” if you like, similar to legendaries. One could say they are even more prestigious, because such items require some amount of skill and cannot be bought on the TP. In order to attend raids, you will need the right gear, food and buffs. This is part of where the unspent gold kicks in. It would not be a stretch to imagine massive price increases in these markets once the precursor market is no longer profitable.

Actually it would be a stretch.

You mean legendary crafting to sell them for profit but that was almost a year ago. I personally don’t care for legendary weapons and the only way I would craft one for use would be if I got a precursor as a drop or I passively got one through the new collection system. Even then, this has zero relevance to my previous post so I don’t see why you brought it up.

You make assumptions based on zero facts other than your opinions. We don’t know what will go into getting the precursor through the collections. If they’re as time consuming or more than just farming the gold for the precursor, the change will be subtle. Anet has stated in the old BLTC subforum that they have no intention to harm the precursor market. You may have been a part of that as I vaguely remember your name from back then.

Like whether I would craft precursors or not, guild halls and raids have zero relevance to this thread.

Here, I’ll just take that in full.

Each legendary weapon has two main themes that will be represented in the precursor journey. The first tier of a precursor journey starts with a collection built around one of these themes. Let’s use the Moot as an example. A moot is a norn celebration of prowess, so that’s the basis of our themes for the legendary mace named for it. The first collection is all about the hunt, so you’ll be proving your abilities by fighting fierce creatures around Tyria and acquiring a trophy to show for it. By completing this collection, you’ll unlock a recipe to craft the first iteration of your precursor—a nontradable exotic weapon with a distressed version of the existing precursor skin. It could use a little polish and refinement, which will be the focus of the second tier collection.

The second collection in your journey involves doing your research, talking to the experts, and honing your craft. You’ll need to barter for knowledge, seek out great minds and convince them to teach you their tricks, and prove your ability at the crafting workbench. All this work allows you to refine your base precursor into its next iteration. Completing this collection unlocks a recipe to do just that, resulting in another nontradable exotic weapon with the existing precursor skin.

The final collections in these precursor journeys return to the themes of their respective legendary weapon. For the Moot, this is where the celebrating starts. Since the Moot’s theme is all about partying, you’ll participate in a range of activities that include dancing with world leaders, setting off fireworks for the Spirits of the Wild, and sampling delicacies and libations from around Tyria. This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon, but they will all be updated to use new skins that look much like the legendary weapons they’ll one day become. We like to think of these new precursor skins as the legendary weapon before it is embodied by its soul. Unlocking one of these new skins in your wardrobe will also unlock the two previous tiers of skins. So, should you get lucky and find a precursor out in the world, you won’t miss out on the skins.

This crafting system is an account-based activity, which means you’ll only be able to craft each precursor this way once. However, all of the currently existing precursor acquisition methods will remain intact in addition to this new acquisition method. That means that if you want a particular precursor more than once, you’ll have to fall back to the original methods of acquisition.

Once you have your completed precursor, you are free to begin the process of turning it into a legendary weapon. It’s a long process of gathering the required materials to craft gifts that will eventually be given to Zommoros—the djinn at the heart of the Mystic Forge—who in return gifts you with your powerful legendary weapon.

Map Bonuses

While the update to precursor acquisition makes for a huge change in the way we craft legendary weapons, our new Map Bonuses system will also make acquiring the materials you need a more directed activity. With Heart of Thorns, most explorable maps will have an associated set of bonus rewards that rotate on a regular basis. Starter maps will not be included in order to preserve the new-player experience. By completing events, jumping puzzles, and mini-dungeons in a map, you’ll be periodically awarded with one of its associated bonuses in addition to the normal rewards. For most maps, the bonus reward will be crafting materials. For instance, playing in Cursed Shore could reward you with ancient bones, charged cores, charged lodestones, or giant eyes during one rotation, and powerful venom sacs, glacial cores, glacial lodestones, or globs of ectoplasm during another rotation.

Maps like the Silverwastes or Dry Top that have a dedicated currency will work a little differently. For these maps, bandit crests and geodes have been something of a test for this concept, where you’re rewarded with these currencies through a bouncy chest for playing on the map. The Map Bonuses system is a more streamlined experience, and with Heart of Thorns, these maps will be updated to always award currencies through the Map Bonuses system. Moving forward, any map with a similar currency will also work within the Map Bonuses system.
The goals of this system are to provide ways for players to target the materials they need, let players know exactly where to obtain those materials, and help all explorable maps always feel like relevant and rewarding places to play.

New Legendary Weapons

I know you’re all dying for more information on new legendary weapons, but we’d like to delve into them more with a dedicated blog post in the future. For now, I’ll say that we’ve been working kitten new legendary weapons, the first handful of which will be introduced in Heart of Thorns, with more to come in subsequent updates. The methods by which you’ll craft these legendary weapons are similar to the existing system, but we’ve refined it into more of a journey, similar to precursor crafting. We also want to better preserve the prestige associated with crafting a legendary weapon, so the new legendary weapons, and their precursors, will not be tradable. Keep an eye out—we can’t wait to start showing them off when they’re ready!

I admit that I could have misread the last part, taking new legendary weapons to mean all the legendaries we craft this way and not just the HoT ones, but it still does say that the precursors crafted this way will not be tradable. Given that it doesn’t explicitly state it in the blog post that legendaries will be, I don’t see any discrepancies here.

EDIT: We could also just be looking at what they mean by “existing” precursors differently too. I take it to mean that precursors obtained the way they currently are, and those that exist going into the expansion, will continue to be tradable, and not that an existing precursor here simply means one that already exists, even if obtained in the new way.

Existing precursors are those that already exist in the game. They didn’t differentiate between those that current are in player possession and those that you can craft. Based on the statement being right after them talking about crafting the final version of the precursor, the article is likely referring to the old set that you can get today. The various iterations that are account bound that you linked are about as relevant to the final version tradeable status as the legendary gifts for legendaries you can craft today as being relevant to their tradeable status.

The only section that referred to precursors and legendaries being account bound was at the end which was the section specific to new precursors and legendary weapons coming with the expansion.

Read it again.

“This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon”

If they have since changed from that, please provide the source.

Actually, you should read what you quoted again. It says “For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon”

Dadnir has it right. The line in that very blog post talking about the new precursors says:

By completing this collection, you’ll unlock a recipe to craft the first iteration of your precursor—a nontradable exotic weapon with a distressed version of the existing precursor skin.

All this work allows you to refine your base precursor into its next iteration. Completing this collection unlocks a recipe to do just that, resulting in another nontradable exotic weapon with the existing precursor skin.

We also want to better preserve the prestige associated with crafting a legendary weapon, so the new legendary weapons, and their precursors, will not be tradable.

Please read the blog post again. You’re taking various parts of it out of context and re-piecing them together in a way to suit your argument (or you didn’t understand the blog post).

As of now, there’s a conflict between their blog post and that interview linked which would be nice to have some clarification on. The video was posted on March 8th and the blog post was published in March 26th. Normally the most recent information supersedes the older but we’ll see.

-9 Elite Specializations

Changes to mechanics which players SHOULD NOT have to pay for EVER!

-1 new Class (Revenant)

Yes 1 new class, after 3 years.

-Raids

Based on the PvE that is terrible, I dont hold much hopes for this.

-Guild Halls (with such things as new Guild Armors, Guild Weapons, and Scribing)

Not exactly playable content, so again we should not have to pay for this

-4 new Maguuma maps

This is supposed to be an expansion, 4 maps is not enough!

-Masteries

More mechanic changes, should not be charged for!

-Access to the Living Story: Season 3

Cos LS 1&2 were so engaging. Sorry but again, if each one can be completed in a couple of hours, no way in hell is it worth it.
Note again these are not in the expansion! They are potential future updates.

Now if Anet want to include these in the price then they should not be selling the past episodes in the gem store! So this point is straight away mute as if it is included in this price, none of the LS episodes should be in the gem store at all and available to all players, new and old for free! Cos we’ve paid for it already based on your comment by buying the core game and expansion!

So again, what we are being asked to pay for is nowhere near enough a full expansion’s worth of content, or even half an expansion!!!

Explain why “mechanic changes” should not be charged for. Explain Why what you label as “non-playable content” should not be charged.

You’re focusing on quantity without regard to quality and depth when it comes to the number of maps. A single HoT map is much larger than the Tyria core maps with much more to do.

The living story episodes averaged about the same length as the higher level personal story arcs. You actually got more out of the LS episodes as there were achievements to test out your skills.

Not much details about the raids have been announced other than the blog post and you’re already placing a verdict on it? The same can be said about the rest of the expansion as Anet has in the past left out a lot of details about their upcoming releases to allow players to find out for themselves.

It’s not like I expected the expansion to be free, I just don;t get why it’s the same price as the base game was for less content. When GW2 first came out there was an entire world of stuff to explore and yeah I feel like after the 3 years I got my money’s worth for most part. But the Expansion is not even half the size of the base game and even if they do add more after launch I doubt it will match the value of content we got before.

No expansion has ever done what you’re expecting. The closest some have gotten is maybe 25% which would equate to a $15 expansion which won’t happen. There is no cost-to-content direct relationship across games and expansions. Either the content within the expansion is worth the price or it’s not. If it’s not then don’t buy it.

there are plenty of blue dye, is the price tag the only thing that make elctro blue special?

No. They are actually different. On most armor they are “glowy”. The closest I can describe it is the Luminescent armor is very similar in color to the electro blue and if you have or seen a Pale Tree mini, the underskirts, which are a glowing yellow, are very similar to electro yellow. These colors are exceptionally good as accent colors to make something stand out from the background.

So far both BWE’s started on the first friday of the month. So following that logic, the third BWE would be on oktober 2. This would also make sense cause of how much time there is left till release.

There are still two full weeks to go till then.

Supposedly sooner than that as there’s supposed to be two more.

Nope, only 1 more BWE.
They said 2 more before the BWE2 happened.

Ok. I thought it was said there would be two more after the upcoming BWE.

Edit: Looks like you’re right. I watched the PAX Prime again and he said 1 of 2 remaining when he was referring to last weekend’s.

Not really. They got the dye that they wanted for free rather than having to spend their gold for it.

Stop the anet fanboying lol there are now dyes from other sets more expensive than the electros… therefore yes, anyone who got them got hosed in gold savings value…

No need to resort to insults as it just weakens your position. So are you telling me that you chose electro blue because it had the highest savings and not because you wanted it? So if, before today’s sale, I was to have bought up all of the existing dyes and relist them for 5K a piece, would you still feel the same way? The existing price was a result of stagnant supply with a high demand. The value of the dye hasn’t really changed since yesterday. Either you want it or you don’t.

Anet is absolutely not destroying the dye market, prices just adapt to the offer/demand. Moreover, I’ve always found silly to see dyes at 1k gold. 200g for a single dye is still quite a lot of money imo.

And it’s not devaluing the 3rd anniversary gift at all… Or it means you picked up electro blue dye just because it was expensive, not because you liked it, possibly to show off. ^.^

I sold an electro lime dye for 40 gold when they were out, now it’s worth 10 times that price. Well, I’m kind of disgusted, but this is trade you know… I could have waited and bet on this price increase. Now, you can also buy electro dyes while they’re cheap and wait for the price to go back up !

Kind of like how I got the chainsaw GS from my first black lion chest ever the 1st Halloween and sold it for like 20G. Just look at the price now.

Lol what?! Have you even looked at the electro prices?

What you don’t understand is how getting any of the expensive dyes is still random and that the sale will end after today. The prices will go back up.

How does that even remotely affect the flood of them onto the market today? The price plummeted and will stay down until supply dwindles again… devaluing the market and the 3rd bday gift.

Are you really asking that question?

Yes bc the flood hitting the market is not going to vanish overnight…

I never said that it would. Whether it does or not overnight really is irrelevant to my statement that getting one of those expensive dyes is still random and the sale will end after today. Prices will go back up.

I hope that someone can explain this to me in simple term. I have the core game since the beginning, that 3 years, according to what is in the pre-purchache site, if I buy the Standard edition I don’t have access to the free slot because I didn’t bought the game this year, is this correct? Is Anet giving anything if I buy the standard pre-release to add to my existing game or if I buy the retail version at game launch? (I don’t care about BW, I like the box and I hope that its as good as the first)

If you pre-purchase the expansion and apply it to your account before release, you get an additional character slot.

There’s nothing in the blog about it at all. It was clarified in one of the followup interviews. Basically, all precursors from the crafting collections will be account bound, and you will be able to receive one of them per account. All old precursor acquisition methods will continue to work, and will produce unbound precursors. All new legendaries (unlike old ones) will be account bound on creation. What is currently unknown is if there will be other sources for new precursors (though mf will not work, they will also not be in the normal drop tables) and they will be account bound anyway.

I will use the level 30 scroll, do the first 3 chapters of personal story, use tomes to reach level 40, do another chapter and start doing half of the major waypoints. And repeat for every 10 levels.

I would hate overusing tomes by accident and don’t think I should just for people who are going to be instant lvl 80 with no clue what to do. It is totally up to you, but it is not a must thing to do, and you shouldnt need to be cathered on that kind of level. This is beyond normal QoL and in the domain of lazyness.

I agree with you, I’m playing since the BWE in 2012 and it’s always better to level up little by little if you want to learn how to play with a certain profession. Not only that: how can you understand which build is better (stats, runes, sigils, skills, specs) if you haven’t played from 2 to 80?

Too be honest, you can learn a class within a single hour of actively trying at the same effectiveness as you would have leveling it to level 80. Actually, you may do better with that one hour as you have access to everything the class offers and can judge what works well and what doesn’t for you.

While I do recommend leveling from 2-80 if it’s your first character ever, I personally don’t see any benefit it will have on learning the class that an hour dedicated to do so wouldn’t also accomplish.

Ok. I can play too.

Anet hasn’t specifically stated the weapon types that the first three HoT legendary weapons will be. They’re going to all be staves.

Anet hasn’t specifically stated the number of story episodes that will be in the expansion. I say that we only get the one that we saw in the beta with the rest being released biweekly.

Anet hasn’t specifically denied that every player in the game is actually a Skritt wearing racial disguises. We’re all Skritt.

You cannot definitively say anything I just said above is false just as I cannot definitively say any of it is correct. I could ignore that, say I’m correct, and then say anyone who disagrees with me is just a fanboy but I won’t. I would be doing actually what you’ve been doing if I were to do that.

What you’re doing is holding something only to be true if Anet has specifically stated it to be so to the most minute detail. Anet stated on the HoT website that there will be four explorable maps. They didn’t specifically state that all four would be included on release so you took it upon yourself to shed doubt on it to further your own agenda. You make a lot of assumptions with no sources and yet call out anyone that does the same. There’s more evidence against your position(s) so that’s why you place such a very high burden of proof on anything that you disagree with.

Now, I would like to know what the purpose of these acheivements are if they can only be gotten on the beta accounts, or will these be relabeled into maguuma acheivements in the future?

The purpose is to guide people to test out the events in Verdant Brink. By the time you’ve done both daytime meta event chains, you’ll have completed all of those achievements. Those achievements award mastery points which help players further test the masteries.

EDIT:

It’s seems like there a subset of players that absolutely need Anet to spell out everything to them to the most specific and minute detail. You have the same type of people that are here as in another where they’re arguing that despite what the HoT website is saying about us getting 4 maps, we’ll likely only be getting one at release with the others to be rolled out in future updates.

You know what… I’ll play along. Anet hasn’t stated how many story episodes we’ll be getting with the expansion. Actually, they haven’t really talked about it all that much at all. Since they weren’t as specific as everyone on here prefers, I say that we’re only getting the initial story instance that we saw in the beta and they’ll roll out the rest of the story in biweekly installments. You can’t prove me definitively prove me wrong just as I cannot definitively prove myself correct. Whether or not there being a lot of evidence to suggest that we’ll get more than one doesn’t matter because Anet hasn’t been specific enough. /sarcasm

They got up to 3 years of content that newer players will not get to experience. Expansions have been around for at least 20 years. You have to buy them to play the content contained within.

Someone already has gotten it last night. It fairly easy, although time-consuming to do, if you feel that it’s worth doing. You just have to re-roll characters over and over while collecting the city map completion chests (plus Chantry of Secrets) in Verdant Brink.

The OFFICIAL answer to the question if you keep the AP is no. I asked ANET ingame and they said no. Ryebread, an active developper told me so.

I argue that they should switch it to 0ap instead to stop it from being misleading.

It’s not misleading as it has been clearly stated by them in and out of game.

That’s precisely what “misleading” means in this context. Under the achievement tab it says a certain number of AP (which has most always been permanent), when in actuality we had to find out that it was not via other sources. Idk how you can even justify trying to spin that as not, but I guess there’s all types of ppl out there.

All progression on beta characters is not saved on your main account. Ever complete any achievements, such as the daily, and seen that it didn’t transfer over? Why did you think that these would be any different. Anet has stated many times that anything done on your beta characters will not make its way to your main. They even have it plastered at the top of the screen when you play any beta character.

That’s all well and fine but it doesn’t stop the AP under general from being “misleading”. That is what you responded to, yet somehow that color green is not green to you but some yellowish blue. You know what else is yellowish blue? GREEN.

Just because it’s there doesn’t mean that it’s misleading.

lol just because it’s green doesn’t mean it’s green…gotcha….lol

The fact that it mislead some into believing it was something it wasn’t means (by definition) it was misleading. Idk how else to explain what misleading means..maybe this:

mis·lead·ing
?mis?l?diNG/
adjective
adjective: misleading

giving the wrong idea or impression.
“your article contains a number of misleading statements”
synonyms: deceptive, confusing, deceiving, equivocal, ambiguous, fallacious, specious, spurious, false

Does that help?

It’s only misleading because people choose to ignore the facts. Your green is green example is not the same.

I did one of the achievements on my beta character, didn’t transfer to my main account. Basically.. they are a waste of time.

You do them for the mastery points so you can test more masteries in the beta. Besides, you complete all of them by simply doing both meta event chains.

“Beta achievements” are under the general achievements on your main account. It could totally be like any other achievements : achievements done by playing the beta, to reward players who pre-ordered the extension.

Beta account is clearly a fork of the main account : they just had to show the beta achievements only on the forked account, when you’re playing on one of your beta character.

Putting those achievements right inside the main account IS misleading.

An official answer is still needed (no, some words by a player stating that someone from anet gave him the info in game is not an official answer).

How do you progress them without being in the beta area doing those events? It’s not misleading. They’re there because there’s no separation in the client. They could make them invisible or they could not make them invisible. It doesn’t matter as they would still be there. Remember just before the last beta when all professions with specialization that we would be testing had the constant notifications at the top of the screen for traits? Same thing only this time around they didn’t go through and hide the achievements.

You can keep requesting, but any official answer you do happen to get, will just be what’s been said all along and come the end of the beta, you won’t get any of that AP moved to your main account.

There are updrafts (2) beneath the platform where you place bombs at the trees (NE corner of map). You can also get a mastery point under there as well which I don’t think showed up on the map.

I’m sitting in the map, I think it is daytime, and there is literally not a single event running.

Likely because the two meta event chains finished. It’s be better once the expansion is released and you have the full map as there will be plenty of events.

Should Waypoints really have a fee?

Should Waypoints really have a fee?

yes. cause one of the last remaining gold sinks in game

No it isn’t. It’s not one of the last remaining gold sinks in the game.

The waypoint fee is hardly a gold sink. For a veteran player like me the +/- 3 silver per teleport that I have to pay is absolutely nothing, I don’t even notice it.

Not to mention that I can easily circumvent the teleport fee by simply using WvW or HoTM for my crafting and banking needs, which is what I do 99% of the time when I need to craft or bank something.

On the other hand the teleport fee is quite a big annoyance for new players. I remember when I just started playing GW2 that I was constantly running out of money because of the teleport fee. It’s highly unfriendly to new players.

I’d say get rid of the teleport fee.

Add up your WP costs over the period of a day, week, and month of normal playing.

These achievements don’t seem too time-consuming when I read through them. I’ll probably try to get some of them later while playing my Dragonhunter and see if they will transfer over to my main achievements when BWE2 is over. Probably not but I was planning to try out some of the new zone anyway.

Your assumption is correct as they are not time consuming or grindy as some people claim. The two achievements with the list of things to do are for the two meta event chains that occur on that map. It will take two day cycles to complete both as you can’t do both at the same time for the most part.

Two of the achievements each want you to complete one event in each of the meta event chains. The other is to kill 100 frogs which you should easily have done, or be close to being completed, by the time you finish both meta event chains.

If I want to play without armor and people keep kicking me as I keep joining groups that want me to wear armor, should I just ask that Anet nerfs stats so people will be more accepting of me? I could very well form my own group for people that want to play the way that I do but hey, that requires too much effort so lets just force the other players to play like me so they won’t kick me when I join their groups.

I saw you already the problem is that there is only ONE option to run in dungeons/fractals. Take your time to watch the video i promise you is very interesting and you could even learn new ways to cheat with an ele meta zerker.

The problem is not there are LFG pugs looking for ele meta zerker, the problem is that the are only those kind of pugs.
And like Yumiko Ishida.3769 pointed out as long as there are this kind of broken and unbalanced mechanics thee is going to be many people that will crash your LFG.

As most of the people is pointing out the sensible thing to do is to fix the unbalances already, 3 years having the same problems is too long for anything.
This kind of bugs and broken mechanics really ruin the game for the no meta classes.

And obviously forget raids. Those will become almost instantly zerker meta for what we can see the tendency is in this BW2

No. There are many options. As I’ve said before, EVERY build is viable. You do not need to run optimal builds in order to complete content including dungeons and fractals.

If those groups are the only kind you see then, I don’t know, form your own? It’s not that hard, really. Take a little initiative rather than sit their and complain because all you see at the moment are people who prefer to play a way that you don’t want to. Chances are there’s a lot of people like you sitting there passively waiting for someone to open up a group that will play the way that they want to.

They’re crashing your LFG because they didn’t read. The mechanics that you somehow believe are broken have nothing to do with it.

Most people? Where? The unbalances, that you so claim, are only with speed run groups. You don’t want to run in speed run groups. There’s really no problem.

Here’s something that may help: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Looking_For_Group#Using_the_Tool
