Ok so I follow the flowchart and this is what happens every kittenING kitten TIME!
Am i meta? No.
I make my own group not requiring that meta kitten. A meta player then joins it, says nothing, or make as rude comment and leaves my party ruining my posted LFG and I have to start over!
Is that fair? Is that fun? Does that reflect what Colin said last live stream “GW 2 has the friendliest community of all MMO history!”? I think not!
If you clearly stated your intentions in the LFG comments then that player that joined is at fault for not reading. It happens for both sides. The OP did the same exact thing. There’s only drama over the issue because there are people who either cannot read the comments or simply do not care and join groups despite not meeting the requirements of the one who started the LFG post. There is nothing wrong with people wanting to play a certain way.
If I want to play without armor and people keep kicking me as I keep joining groups that want me to wear armor, should I just ask that Anet nerfs stats so people will be more accepting of me? I could very well form my own group for people that want to play the way that I do but hey, that requires too much effort so lets just force the other players to play like me so they won’t kick me when I join their groups.

This has absolutely everything to do with the OP’s problem. The OP’s problem is that they keep joining groups where they don’t meet the requirement. It’s their own fault that they get kicked for disregarding what’s written in the comments because they do not care and don’t want to play the way requested.
Your problem is that you don’t like that there are people who prefer to play a certain way so you want to force them to play your way because you believe it is the only acceptable way to play so you suggested all those nerfs.
You would rather Anet nerf it so they might as well play with you than form your own group because forming your own group is so very very very hard.
Ok i see you most probably main one of the ele meta zerker or sinister meta engie and don’t want to empathize with the point of view of others if doesn’t fit yours..
Here you have a very enlighting video about what the community of players are screaming that is so really broken in this game with the nice touch of showing off the toxicity in dungeons/fractals so you may entertain yourself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2b7dpC0liQ
Nope. I really don’t see your problem. You don’t like running in speed groups because they have certain restrictions. Why do you even care then? Just form your own group, or play with like-minded players, and move on.

They already can enjoy all content of the game. It seems that you think that it’s impossible to form your own group to do content. It’s not. You do not need to group up with people that do not play like you in order to do content.
Once again, refer to the image. It’s really that simple.
then again we circle back to soemthing that hasn’t anything to do with the OP problem, repeating yourself will not answer my question nor address the problem the OP pointed out.
So you may read again all the coments that lead to this conclusion from here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Would-like-to-see-area-net-balance-the-game/5455865And please stop diverging the original point of this thread as we are not talking about LFG and the toxicity that the lack of balance has caused but that this game needs balance for most modes because it has been allowed to some classes to be buffed up to the absurdity as I pointed out right here:

Most of the community might disagree with you because most of the people would like to be able to enjoy all the content in game playing the way the like instead be secluded to one niche. As i stand in my opinion Anet should apply some fixes to the actual system i pointed out here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Would-like-to-see-area-net-balance-the-game/first#post5455759Once they fixed the broken mechanics in game i’m pretty sure all those lfg ele zerke meta 80 exp or kick will disappear completely. And dungeons will become something fun to run instead speed runs for farming gold/ascended/whatever.

There’s nothing wrong with making the game being challenging but that really has nothing to do with this thread.
The thing is that there’s nothing broken. Every build and every class is viable. What people are consistently confusing is the difference between viable and optimal. Optimal is what you see speed run groups wanting to run. There’s really no way to prevent there being an optimal way to do something.
The OP dislikes that a lot of people prefer certain classes, build, and equipment for those that they party with. They hate that they’re expected to be experienced. They dislike being booted from groups because they didn’t follow any of that. Did you see what I asked the OP in the second post of this thread? I asked the OP if they joined groups that specifically stated that people wanted those things and he said yes.
The problem is his alone that he’s joining groups that have a specific criteria which he doesn’t comply to. This is why I posted the image about joining groups that match how he plays or just to create his own group.
Is not about optimal is about broken. It not only his, there are echoes of this problem in this forums, reddit and youtube. When every class is the same optimal the people will look always for the best optimal that’s right. But then will intervene the personal preference instead hard maths that have proven the actual meta is completely broken.
Is there anything wrong to ask the adjustment of all those broken mechanics so my ranger or my necro could bring the same value as a ele to a group? Or must i use my ele meta zerk 80 exp although i don’t enjoy the mechanics of that class?
There’s nothing broken. Those players have certain things that they want. They have every right to require that because they created their own group requesting it. You have zero right to think that they cannot do that. If you want to play with ranger or necro, find a group that is not excluding them or create your own.
Well, according to Gaile, they have given veteran players a free character slot. She didn’t mention anything about needing to pre-purchase:
We’ve given veteran players a free character slot, and as others have pointed out, a beta test is not a demo or a preview. If you’re unsure about purchasing Heart of Thorns, consider reviewing our extensive Heart of Thorns website for a great deal of information, then make the decision that is right for you.
It seems that way because you’re taking it out of context.
I quoted her post in its entirety. It happens to be written in such a way as to make ANet seem more generous than they truly are, as well as being a false statement.
If it had been said “We’ve given veteran players who pre-purchased HoT a free character slot…” perhaps the meaning would have been more clear, and less insulting to those of us who are veterans but are not pre-purchasing.
But hey, why should a Communications Team Lead worry about, like, words and stuff?
No matter. I’m done. I uninstalled GW2 last night, so they no longer have to concern themselves about how to wring more money out of me.
Does anyone want my stuff?
You did quote her entirely but you’re taking the entire post out of context.

Have you tried forming your own group rather than wait for one that fits your preferences to show up?
Just put “all welcome – casual” and it should fill pretty fast.
What’s wrong in asking the developers to fix the broken mechanics and make the dungeons actually changeling ?

I’ll say this again in bold so it stands out:
If you want to play a certain way, with specific people, and you don’t see any groups that match this, create your own and specify exactly what you want. There’s no need to be passive and sit there waiting for someone to create the group for you.

When you log onto a beta character, what do you see at the top of the screen towards the center? Those achievements have you testing out the beta, they’re not distracting you from doing it.

i don’t know which servers you play in but here in EU all the Pugs LFG are: ele or warrior zerk 80 exp.
Only ones more open are fractals level 1-10 because of the new players trying out this gamemode.
If you don’t use meta you are out of luck.only way to solve this issue that is extremely toxic is to:
- nerf the friking ice bow. 100K damage in 3 secs is laughable.
- disable line casting of any sorts. No class in game should be able to cast 25 stacks of anything (boon or condi) ever. 25 stacks of might/fire/confusion from one button is just game break. No amount of health will save you from someone that can do 80K damage within 1-2 seconds.
- Burning is broken. Not only have the highest coefficient but also has 6 times higher base. with 0 cond damage you do 134 burning per tick. which is absurd.
- Enemies need smarter AI, ways to negate some damage same as players do. That would make zerker meta less efficient if the trash mobs and the boss can negate the burst.
- Enemies needs measures anti stacking. That simple to script, if the players stack drop highly convincing AoE arguments anti stack. No one stacks against a teragrif.. Or you are in danger to became a bowling alley.
- Skipping is difficult to overcome, dropping trash mobs in the way is simply annoying because they are not relevant so they are not rewarding. Instead dropping trash in the way to the boss, make then the means for an objective like the dynamic events.
Have you tried forming your own group rather than wait for one that fits your preferences to show up?

Could’ve been worse. If it were me, I would’ve put that quicksand from drytop around the out of bounds areas and made it invisible.
You get sets of gear when creating a new beta character.

Are you joining groups that specifically ask for all of that?
If you completed the personal story “demo” it should have awarded you with one mastery point, when thats done click on your XP bar and it should open the masteries menu for you, when thats done start training the gliding bar, and when your XP bar is full you should be able to unlock the glider with your mastery point, or is it you unlock it with the mastery point first…I’ve forgotten haha but yeah it’s not that difficult I’m sure you can figure it out!
It’s after. I started capping several masteries last time because I ran out of points.
You should have mastery points just by entering the map. Click the icon at the bottom right corner of the screen to bring up the mastery menu. Go to glider and click on it to set it as your active mastery. From there you just need to progress the mastery/XP bar until it’s capped. After that you can spend a mastery point to enable it.
Yeah. It’s as if all progress you made in Verdant Brink got wiped but the story progression remained. I’d just remake the character and hope for better luck.
On the plus side, you can visit all of the cities again and open the map completion chests in Verdant Brink for XP to be applied to your mastery tracks.
Thanks for all the answers, I just informed my guild so they would stop grinding for the points!
Tell them that they still get mastery points from them. It’s still worth doing if you’ve used all of your existing ones and you still want to try out more masteries.
Awww kitten. I bought the watchwork mining pick a month ago, really should have seen this coming!
I bought it with gold, so it doesn’t really matter, but I could have bought it with 1/2 as much gold.
Since gold to gem rates are like 50% higher now due to the sale, you wouldn’t be saving that much.
That’s a good point.
Although I could have bought the gems a month ago like I did, and then waited for the sale to spend them.
If only we could possess precognition, right?
So I looked around for the green story marker but its nowhere to be seen. I went to the fort where the entire thing started when I first made my beta character and then i went over to the far wall where it eventually opens to the new zone. Nothing….
Have you been in the zone with that specific beta character yet? Is there any available WP’s west of SIlverwastes, if so?
I know that nothing is being transferred. But I am talking purely about the 5 AP you can do by doing events such as the one where you have to kill a 100 frogs. But I’ve seen other threads and I think I understand now that they are meant as a guideline, rather than something that will stick after the weekend? Question is then why my base account can even see those achievementpoints, without them being able to get fullfilled?
My guess is that it’s the same client which is why.
All of this player disgruntlement could have been avoided weeks ago by simply posting in this thread or announcing on the patch notes page that the achievements that were added’ were for beta testing and would not carry over.
Why Anet (apparently purposely) continually fuels negative sentiment about their lack of communication is beyond me.
Go log into any beta character. What message do you see plastered at the top of the screen?
I guess I’ll have to spam this thread so it stays on top until we get some kind of clarification. Spam.
What more clarification do you need? They’ve stated numerous times, it’s even at the top of the screen in game, that all progress on beta characters is not saved. Nothing received or done on a beta character will transfer over to your main account.
I still can’t figure out any logical reasons to make achievements to general section and under beta weekend that give you ap, other than that those achievements are permanent. So that’s the clarification I need. Plus if you look my earlier post a little bit upper, you can see my real problem.
A teaser perhaps. We had something similar last time when all the classes that had specializations in the beta would prompt you to check your traits in your main account but there would be nothing to update. The clients are likely exactly the same except the beta characters are not directly connected to the account.
Ok I just tested this. Did the kill 1 Hylek one. Does not appear on your regular character. So unless Anet will transfer those achievements to the real accounts after Beta they are useless to do.
You do them for the mastery points, not the AP.
the mastery points are also useless if they dont carry over to your normal characters
They are useful for your beta characters to test out the masteries which is one of the points of the beta tests. This isn’t a head start.
I assume that they can but it would be very slow. Also for those getting the idea to do it while AFK, having a macro do the reviving for you is against the ToS.
No. All progress made and items received on your beta characters does not transfer to your main account. It also states that at the top of your screenshot.
Map rewards system isn’t tied to map completion. You need to do events.
Edit: I tried to find an Anet explanation for how it works but was unable to. From what I remember from last time, people just did events to progress it and get the map bonus rewards.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
This is something they don’t tell you, but it appears they snapshot your bank right before the event starts, which means if you want any of your account ascended items and transmutation charges and makeover kits to be available to your beta characters with limited character creation, DEPOSIT THEM INTO YOUR BANK BEFORE THE BWE.
….Otherwise you’re stuck with no character makeovers to select face/hair for your revenant/beta toons, and lower transmutation charges and no ascended item sets.
It’s from when you create your beta character.
I moved all of my ascended and other items after the last beta event had already started but before creating my first beat character. All of those items got copied over.
Yes, but if you delete that character because you realized the snapshot, and create a new one to update your bank, it won’t update.
Yes. The snapshot is done the first time you create a beta character.

You’re not buying the base game again. The free core game was a bonus offer when the registration key was applied to a new account to assist new player in getting into the game.

each of the six (?) gives a mastery point?
I only briefly glanced at them but I seem to remember that they all awarded mastery points. I know that Guide to the Perplexed definitely does.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
Beta characters only.
hate jormag… 2 reasons… 1st, if you drop him below 50% in the first phase, he heals to 50%… 2nd, the event takes to kitten long, 20 minutes to do a world boss is waaaay to long… for a WB.
He can be done in 6 min or less if people actually actively participate. For phase 2, they need to help destroy the ice pillars rather than stand in the one spot and auto attack.
Hello,
This is the 1st BWE I have the chance to participate, how does the bank work exactly for BETA characters? It seems to keep the same items everytime despite me changing it on my regular characters, is there any way to update the bank items so they match with what I had previously before logging in BETA characters?
No. The snapshot is taken the first time you create a character.
Whats the herald?
Revenant
How is Jormag hard to do without dying? If you want them to make SB more challenging, but you’re dying at Jormag, chances are you’re going to find whatever challenge they add to SB to be extremely difficult.
No nothing
And I went to Silverwastes and the quest takes me to a new location with nothing. It thinks Tactician Elke should be there.
I’d rather not have to re select the stats for all my weapons and go through all that again remaking :S
Walk a few steps forward and enter the story instance.
You get mastery points and you help them test them out to make sure the achievements progress and complete properly. It’s also a nice checklist of things to do.
It’s SW Silverwastes. I would think that upon entering the beta map you would have opened up one of the WP’s.

You don’t qualify.
I’m basing this on you asking now as the deadline was to apply the pre-purchase of the expansion to your account by 7/31/15 and you would have received the refund by now if it applied to you.
If you bought the core game within the last 30 days, you can refund that and pre-purchase the expansion.
They give you free armor/weapons/etc to test the classes. I don’t see what the issue is.
You’d think they’d at least have the decency to have EU servers operating at peak EU hours.
From what I saw on the forums, the beta weekend event went live at 9am Pacific. That’s 4pm in London. How is that not prime time for EU?
There’s achievements (some seem grindy) that have to be completed in this beta weekend. Yeah achievements are not end of the world but still, americans are definitely handed them a 3 day event (while eu is 2 day event).
What do you mean that they have to be completed? I suppose if you want those mastery points to carry through to the remaining beta weekends. They also didn’t look that grindy to me with most looking to be completed just by doing the meta chains.
Also, it’s not a 3-day event and the difference between EU and NA, assuming they each get 8 hours of sleep, is only 7 hours. You’re getting upset because of a 7 hour difference because of sleep cycles over a 63 hour beta test. Are you telling me that you’re going to be playing the entire time without any breaks except to sleep?
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
Probably a safe bet that the other tools will go on sale soon too.
I’m thinking that if they were to release the bunny ears, they’re likely holding it for last to get people to spend their gems early so they’d have to get more. They’ll get more people spending their gems this way.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
More people. Lower DPS. Less people destroying portals while more people AFK auto attacking a non targetable SB. Probably more possible reasons.
Hmmm I fail to see your point, engi hasn’t been announced at all, we already know that ranger is getting staff and is going to be called druid.
The point is evident it’s about no specializations mentioned for the Ranger.
Colin mentioned it last Saturday.
Sorry I must have missed that. Where exactly did he mention this?
