1. You can’t AFK (legally) for more than an hour without getting booted to the character select screen

2. You have to park your character somewhere in order to sell your items.

3. Mega servers limit who sees your items as only those on your map instance can see you.

So no, this is a terrible idea.

But gen2 legendaries require a stack of coins. And the only way to acquire them outside of buying them is to wait at least 5 months, but usually quite a bit longer since in my experience its really difficult to find a group that can complete the ley line anomaly any more. Which means that the only two options are to buy them or to literally sit on your ass and wait. Logging in for 1 minutes each day to collect the daily login rewards. There is no way to earn your coins. Absolutely no way to do so. There is no reward track you can complete to get mystic coins. There is no option to get ~20 mystic coins instead of clovers at the end of the daily login reward cycle. There is nothing. The only ways to acquire them are RNG or hope you get a group that can complete the ley line anomaly, but that is even time gated to 1 coin a day.

There is nothing you can do to get around this fact, nothing. It doesn’t have to be efficient, it doesn’t have to be fast, but we do need a way to acquire mystic coins that is not time gated nor reliant on RNG. So yes, I would still have a problem if MC were only 1 copper on the trading post, because there is no alternative to buying them. Waiting on your ass is not an alternative. What is legendary about just waiting for months on end for MC to pile up? Absolutely nothing. All I want is a way to go out and earn MC. Even something as simple as having reward tracks give out a handful of MC on par with how many clovers they give (as an either or option, you’d choose either clovers or coins) would be enough for me.

How about the T7 materials needed for those legendary weapons?
How about all of the other materials needed for those weapons?

Unless people are farming everything themselves, and do not buy anything off the TP, I don’t see complaints about buying mystic coins off the TP as a valid argument. If you can buy other things off the TP then you can buy the coins too.

As far as no reward tracks for mystic coins, it’s not needed. Out of those two stacks for the legendary weapons, one of them is for mystic clovers. Players can do the reward tracks for the clovers which reduces the number of coins that they need in half.

I doubt anyone would actually still have issues with how mystic coins are acquired if they were back to being near vendor cost. Nobody complained back then when they were cheap. How many other items, which are similar, are people not complaining about only because they’re still cheap?

For legendary weapon mastery, have you fully trained the last tier of that mastery? You cannot spend mastery points until you have fully trained that tier. You must also do each tier in order and cannot pick and choose which to unlock. You’ll also need nine points, not six. You also cannot have spent just six mastery points in the legendary mastery as nothing adds up to that total. You’d either have spent 1, 4, 10, or 19 mastery points depending on your progression.

Wold Boss Farming - Rewards?

This thread isn’t about whether you like having the world bosses in the game.

As far as the time aspect in getting a group, that’s completely uncesseary for the majority of world bosses. A group is not required or even needed in the slightest except for a handful of obvious ones such as TT and Teq. The primary reward for these world bosses are ectos that you salvaged from the guaranteed rares.

There are far better ways to earn gold than doing world bosses and better ways to get rares. That said, I get the feeling that a lot of people do it for more than just the rewards.

I don’t really think this is about players not having money for it. It’s about the discrepancy between light/heavy and medium. Why should it cost more for a medium armored character to get geared? Aren’t we all supposed to be on a level playing field.

Have you calculated the actual cost differences? Not saying they’re the same but I’ve yet to see anyone in any of these threads to do a cost comparison.

A certain type of item makes it very easy to compile this data if you look at certain sites.

Did you notice the difference in leather consumption between medium and heavy armor is 78 vs 60 pieces of Cured Hardened Leather Squares?
I guess our armor are mostly made of patches…

Ascended price differences are nastier, Even though they don’t use t6 leather materials.

Easy and yet you’re one of the first to highlight the differences.

So heavy is at 87G, light is at 93G, and medium is at 106G. Not as large of a gap as people have made it out to be. Especially considering that medium armor has been the cheapest of the three for the majority of the time that the game as been live. The costs haven’t ever been balanced.

Every couple of months I sell 100-150g worth of leather I get from playing wvw to players with no patience. I have 5 characters in full ascended and have max all crafting, some even duplicates. I’m really not sure why leather is so expensive but it’s kind of nice for me to make some easy gold.

2 month of playing => leather worth 150g => 2.5 insignias. 2 months of playing = 2.5 insignias. Yeah. Just think about it. Its ridiculous.

Here’s a hint: they’ll adddress the issue eventually and the economy will rebalance.

That is the problem: we don’t know if they will fix it. They already tryed, that failed, and Anet stays silent since then. What I personally whant at that point is someone from Anet to show up and just say something on the topic. They are working to fix this kitten? Great. They don’t care about leather economy cause they don’t have spare resorses? Okay. They are happy with current state of the market? Just some communication, please.

Insignias don’t cost 50-75 gold. Please research the costs.

Ayrilana.1396

The price of Mystic Coins it fine on its own, the MAJOR problem with MC’s is that they are used in an RnG recipe for clovers that is the problem, Anet need to make a dedicated recipe,

10 Coins, 10 ecto 10 Crystals, 10 Obby Shards = 7 clovers

The last time I made 77 clovers it took me 370 coins to make them, this is NOT ok, its the RnG in that recipe that keeps them prices high.

Or people can do the x1 recipe which averages out better to the drop percentage with the same amount of coins. There’s two much volatility with 37 forges. How’s it any different than doing a recipe that requires 110 of each to yield 80 clovers, do it four times until you succeed, and then complain about the RNG?

From the wiki in regards to your question:

  • The Jotun star fragments only drop once. Afterwards, you can sell them. It is not necessary to have them in your inventory to complete The Jotun Star.
  • It is possible for multiple fragments to drop if you have not picked any of them up yet.
  • Fusing the fragments does not remove them from your inventory, but all you can do with them at that point is sell them to a merchant.

SAB Closure Time

They should have left it in the game instead of making it a festival. I have not been playing a lot of GW2 lately and SAB was one of the things I did want to get into again, but have have been very busy lately, so did not manage to play. Now I am supposed to wait another year? It’s just yet another reason to lose interest in the game.

Making an upgrade to it every year would be a good idea. But having it only available once a year is a terrible idea. But what did Anet? They made it available once a year without an upgrade.

I can’t find the original quote now but apparently every update breaks SAB and they have to do a bunch of updates to it to get it working again. Once a year that’s feasible, but keeping it up all year round would be too much work.

I think it’s because it wasn’t originally intended to be part of the game – it was built by a small team for their own interest and they used the GW2 engine just because they worked at Anet so that’s the engine they had access to and knew how to use. So it was built however they could make it work, not how it was supposed to be done. (I want to call it a bodge job but I’m not sure anyone outside the UK would understand that.)

This should help, I think.

Here are some links:

tl;dr: Maintaining SAB and ensuring that it continues to function outside of a small time-frame is too resource heavy.

I think the reasonable price should be around 30 to 50 silver, same as ectoplasm. High than 1g is absolutely ridiculous.

What are you basing “reasonable” on? What you’d be willing to pay?

Based on the reasoning that if someone wants to craft legendary, like Hope for example, the costs for the Mystic Coin is almost like 25% of the total cost of the legendary itself. I think a reasonable % would be 10%.

The cost of mystic coins should not be based off of the percentage of the total cost that they are a part of for legendary weapons. Also note that the cost for legendary weapons remained unchanged even with the increase of mystic coin cost.

Could be a corrupted DAT file or you’re out of system memory. If your OS is 32-bit then you can only use a max of 4GB of memory. You can repair or remove the DAT file. The worse that will happen from removing the file is that you’ll lose all your game configuration settings so make sure to write down any of the important ones beforehand.

Hype is a double edged sword… too much of it and you raise player expectations beyond what is humanly possible to satisfy. HoT hype was so huge people were expecting 25+ maps with 100+ hours of story content and dozens upon dozens of new armor skins to collect.

I can already see the same thing happening for Expac2… People look at the leak and automatically assume that because a single screenshot shows the name of one town in the desert that we will automatically get ALL OF ELONA. Those people are going to be very very salty when their expectations are not met.

That’s what I really don’t get, why GW1 had 2 more FULL games (Factions and Nightfall) with tons of new maps, contents, armors and weapons but GW2 only get little expansions with so few new stuff compared?!!! (For the same price moreover….)
People want full new games like Elona or Cantha, or even something new but NO NEW EXPANSIONS WITH FEW CONTENTS!

GW1 isn’t the same as GW2. GW1 maps are also smaller and much simpler.

While terrible games going F2P have garnered more attention in the headlines, I wouldn’t go as far as to assume that any game going F2P means that it’s not doing well.

Are you seriously arguing that giving your game away as opposed to selling it doesn’t mean you’re losing business and revenue? Even in your example that’s the case.

But, again regardless, that’s another topic for another thread.

There comes a time when new subscriptions have slowed down where any loss is minimal. Restrictions are added to encourage players to upgrade to a full account. It’s a form of advertising similar to trial accounts only that they don’t have time restrictions.

Gaining new players into an aging game is never a bad thing and doesn’t necessarily mean that a game is performing poorly. It just means that the developers are trying to keep the population fresh. Especially for games which don’t have a subscription which opens up for veteran players to stop playing in between content releases.

Season 3 portals

Ayrilana.1396

I think you entirely misunderstood what I was saying, Cyninja.

You make it sound like I’m complaining that you need to own Heart of Thorns to access the Season 3 maps. Trust me, I’m not making that claim.

Rather, what I was saying is that Bloodstone Fen, Ember Bay, and Lake Doric being locked behind character progress is unusual. If we were to follow “the standard” which Ayrilana was talking about, then the standard would be immediate access to the zone for any and every HoT owner (just as Southsun, Dry Top, and Silverwastes are immediately accessible to all owners of the core game – be they F2P or bought it).

Also, ArenaNet can very easily prevent access to Lake Doric without blocking it behind completing Meeting of Ministers on every character. Ignoring the fact they did such with Bitterfrost, they also did such with the HoT zones themselves – players who do not own HoT cannot access Verdant Brink, despite it being physically connected to Silverwastes (and the same goes for the exits out of the guild halls into VB and AB).

Which means they can block access to the maps without locking any of them behind story progress at all.

Now, it’s very clear that they want to get people to learn the preface of the zone (as each one has such, especially for Bloodstone Fen and Lake Doric), but still that’s served by making players do the story once, rather than on each character (without mandating portal scroll purchasing). Ultimately, it’s very likely the reason they have access to the new maps by character-based story progress is to push players into buying those scrolls, giving a heavily-incentivized decrease of Unbound Magic and gold, since both are so easily farmed and are used throughout S3 as currency (particularly the latter for Unbound Magic).

Things change between seasons. Season 1 content was temporarily, for example, and content became permanent with season 2. Should S2 content not be permanent in order to be consistent? There were differences between PvP seasons although they were minor (depending on who you speak with).

Anet started out S3 with map access requiring progression of the story, portal scrolls, or teleport to friend stones. This occurred for two episodes, didn’t for one, and resumed with the one after that. Since 3/4 episodes require you to use one of the methods listed above, you can assume that’s intended. This means that episode 3 is the abnormal one.

In any case, reasons can be made in either directions with some being strong than others. It’s still going to come down to what Anet’s intention is which overrides any reasoning that we have no matter how logical we may find it.

The portals never make sense to me in season 3, there is no consistency except the portal scrolls.

ep 1 – no portal
ep 2 – no portal
ep 3 – portal that all of your characters can enter with
ep 4 – portal that only character(s) that have done the story can enter with

I know all about the lore excuse with ep 4 …. ‘but, but …. the guard does not have PERMISSION to let your other characters in’. Ok, explain the ep 3 portal then. I submit ep 3 and ep 4 should be the same as far as whether other characters on your account can use it or not. Obviously all using it is prefereable (the player does not learn anything new doing the same instance multiple times) but uniformity is the key thing.

You’re right as uniformity is the key thing. They should prevent zone portal access to Bitterfrost as it’s the only map you can get into without doing the story on that character without having to use the portal scroll or teleport to friend stone.

That’s not the matter here. This is a question of why they gate some LW3 zones (not BFF) on a character basis.

Since it’s the only one of the four that isn’t, perhaps the question should be why is it not gated like the others.

The answer to that was simple before Lake Doric: it was the only one directly connected to another zone. Granted they could have added a portal to Bloodstone Fen from Verdant Brink but I think they were trying to show that Bloodstone Fen is overall cut off from surrounding areas.

Lake Doric is the real oddity – it has a physical zone portal, like Bitterfrost Frontier, but it requires character determined progression through the story.

If you go by one having a connected zone, it’s a 50/50 so you can’t lean one way or the other as to which is an oddity. Your claim that Lake Doric is an oddity is no different than a claim that Bitterfrost is an oddity.

However, we have to take all of the maps into consideration. Anet could very well have added an NPC to interact with on all of the other maps but they didn’t. There’s also the portal scrolls. There’s a higher probability that none of the zones were meant to travel freely to outside of the story, portal scroll, or WP.

We need more things for Bubble Baubles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

Well, stop doing the SAB Reward track once you’ve gained enough Baubles and acquired the Weapon skins? If some Weapon skins come from the Reward chests, use the Baubles to purchase the others; there can’t be that many left over once one has used both methods of acquisition. (Just like Dungeon Reward tracks.)

At least, that is what I would do…maybe I’m odd. /shrug

The ratio of baubles to final chest weapon skin are out of skew. If I even get all the weapons this year from soley the final chest, I still am unlikely to have enough baubles to purchase even one skin. But if I converted all those baubles to furniture tokens I would be able to get like a million super cloud deco. It is very out of whack and is partially why I suggest changing the baubles to furniture tokens at a more reasonable ratio.

I have ~4500 baubles atm from wvw reward track that ive completed my best guess 6 times. And I think it costs maybe 8k baubles to buy a skin from the merchant. If I converted the 4500 baubles to super clouds I could buy 180 of them. But that requires some hefty special event pve and online guide tutorial. It really doesn’t even make sense to award so many baubles in the reward track that wvw becomes the most efficient way to acquire furniture tokens. Why not just switch them to furniture tokens at ~10 per track instead of the current out of whack ratio that almost necessitates the need for the pve gate?

I’m confused. Does one acquire more than one skin per final chest? If not, then every so many tracks will allow one to purchase a skin with Baubles, no?

Or is the concern really that one wishes to acquire Furniture Coins? If so, the lament should not be the amount of Baubles in the SAB Reward track, but the lack of Furniture Coins. Still, perhaps Furniture Coins are (one of) the enticements to play Tribulation Mode. Though, I have some Furniture Coins, and I’ve never even been able to pass the Toad…lol. (Thus, there must be some easy way to acquire them [I’m not a big fan of SAB].)

once you no longer need to (1) buy upgrades for your characters, (2) buy blue weapons, (3) buy the other neat goodies in moto’s first tab, and (4) have enough continue coins… and complete the achievements to unlock the ability to buy furniture coins from moto, then any and all bobbles and bobble bobbles can go towards purchasing furniture coins. i myself have already farmed nearly 3500 furniture coins this year and im not even going hard. i just dont need any of the other old things that have been around for years and every year SAB comes back anet adds less and less giving me more and more opportunity to deck out guild halls.

@ohoni: seriously, look into taco or other related overlays for sab. it will literally tell you where not to step and you wont experience the hopeless frustration you dread so much. if you arent prepared to spend an hour max making it easy and an hour or 2 actually completing the requirements for you to sink your spare change, you dont deserve to. stop whining about the game being too hard.

Yes, but if you can’t reasonably complete the achievements to unlock the furinture coins, then you cannot buy the furniture coins, regardless of how many Baubles you have, so that’s a moot point. And telling me to stop whining about the game being too hard doesn’t help anyone. I don’t tell you how to enjoy the game, you don’t tell me.

Perhaps what is “reasonable” should be established.

I went in thinking visit w1-1 & 1-2 furniture shops. Then realized it was all of them for w1 & w2. Just getting to w1-1 took me an hour using dulfy guide because dulfy was making a spikes jump that was not possible on my norn character for some reason. I ended up finding a different easier jump. Got into w1-2 and realized I was hopelessly lost and gave up after another hour.

You play WvW hours upon hours every day as that’s the game mode that you enjoy most. You’re not used to some of the PvE elements as they’re not really required in WvW. You’ve also said before that you haven’t stepped into SAB before so of course you’ll get lost as it’s something new. Kind of like when Anet adds a new WvW map or when you first started playing on the WvW maps.

I just checked the wiki and saw someone made maps of each of the levels (well for just world 1 it seems). Perhaps those could help you navigate.

There are some issues with waiting. We don’t know when the next expansion will released or even be announced for that matter. There are people struggling to get their HO’s without trains and even to successfully to complete some map metas. Imagine the difficulty once the player population shifts to the new expansion’s content.

You either think a thing is worth it and buy it or you don’t and buy it at a price you do think is value. If you want to get an expansion for free then wait until its free. These are not issues they are choices. If you get a full expansion for free that a very generous offer.

There seems to be a 3rd option this decade – declare to the world you don’t want a thing because you think you deserve x and y and hate W and Z. Also, declare to the world you want that same thing if its cheap/free. So it would appear people miraculously enjoy content if its cheap enough. The reality is some people cant take ownership for their own thoughts and tastes and want to blame the world because GW2 doesn’t automatically match their tastes exactly.

Umm.. I wasn’t telling them they should buy it or not. I was just bringing up a couple drawbacks to waiting. They are potential issues because the map metas (mainly the final ones), and a lot of hero points, require more than just yourself. There are people that may not find this struggle to be worth waiting.

Why would they remove a festival currency from a festival reward track????

Replace /= remove

Can people still get the currency from the reward track? If no then it’s removed. Whether or not something replaced it doesn’t change that.

The only thing to buy with it of any consequence is furniture tokens and that requires some serious pve. Might aswell turn the baubles into furniture tokens in the reward track.

Or you can do the two achievements and unlock the furniture coins at the vendor.

Round and round we go,
wvw title track that rewards currency that cannot be used unless I do hours of SAB. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was actually a currency that went into the wallet. Or you know…actual furniture coins instead of a rather useless currency.

It’s a PvE festival reward track. Currency shouldn’t be removed simply because you see no use for it and don’t want to do the two achievements to unlock the furniture coins.

If you like doing SAB hey great for you. But they add a wvw/spvp reward track with currency that I cannot use without doing significant amounts of SAB. How does that even make sense. And yet people like you defend the position like someone is trying to take your toys away.

So I ask, what items are you buying with baubles that you could no longer buy if the reward tracks were switched to granting furniture tokens instead? Are you even doing the reward tracks in the first place?

Then don’t do the reward track?

Round and round we go…

Anything constructive to say?

The reward track is for a PvE festival so it’s expected that it will award items that come from it such as baubles. Should continue coins be removed too since they can only be used in SAB? There are things that can be purchased with baubles. The baubles can be converted into bauble bubbles which can be used for weapon skin, for example.

If none of that interests you, why are you doing the reward track in the first place?

How about removing replacing some of the loot boxes and putting in furniture coins?
