For those that have thrown in the idea of the “slippery slope”, mind the fact that this is actually the 2nd step, so we’re already on the “slope”. The Royal Terrace was the test to see if this type of pass would sell.
Now we’re at the next step down the line, of actually removing something and replacing it with a pay service.
Exactly what did they remove that couldn’t already be gotten with the royal terrace pass? I see the captains airship has additional services which was vehemently requested by players. All of these additional services are present in Gendarran.
Poor choice of question. They didn’t remove anything in order to provide the royal terrace pass. It was a bonus convenience item. You could achieve the same thing for free in-game by visiting Lion’s Arch.
It should be a pretty basic mtx tenet that you don’t create inconvenience in your game in order to sell convenience in your mtx store – at least, if you want to adhere to decent business ethics. Selling convenience items is fine, but not if you’re taking stuff out of the game in order to make it a more attractive purchase.
Actually no, it’s not a poor choice of question. Everything that is not in Gendarran could be gotten from the Royal Terrace. You also completely missed that I was specifically addressing the player’s quote so you can easily take what I said out of context.
The royal terrace is another mtx service. I’m not sure what your point is or why you think my reply was out of context.
I was addressing them specifically and the post was tailored to respond to their post only. You then misinterpreted my post and the made up an argument against it. Think of along the lines of strawman but not quite.
Responding to people is pretty much how the discussion works, so I’m sorry you feel that way. As far as I’m concerned, I addressed something you said and expanded on it. We can agree to disagree in that respect.
I’ll explain exactly what I was arguing since it was missed above.
The user I was addressing stated there was a slippery slope and the airship pass was the second step while the royal terrace pass was the first. I then countered by asking exactly what was not present in Gendarran that was not already present in the Royal Terrace.
I asked this because if the missing services from Genderran were already present in the Royal Terrace, which was available before the update, then it was not a slippery slope. Nothing would have been gained as the airship contained the same functions as the royal terrace.
I was arguing about his slippery slope argument. You took it as me arguing about the overall discussion of this thread which I wasn’t. That’s why I stated you were taking my post out of context. We were arguing on two entirely different, but related subjects.

Lions Arch.

Defend events are not the escorts. These are the ones that have waves that you have to defend against.

Triple play is not dependent on you being at each separate defend event. You can camp one defend event and still get triple play if the conditions are met. Dulfy’s guide explains this.

Read it again, you’re wrong.
Please point me towards the place that says that EVERYTHING from Lion’s Arch would move to the Vigils Keep.
Page 1 of this thread.
Actual release notes:
Vigil Keep, the Impromptu Hub of Services
Most of the services in Lion’s Arch have found a new home at the Vigil Keep in Gendarran Fields.
All home-city asura gates will now connect to a new gate plaza in the Vigil Keep.
All WvW and PvP asura gates have also been hastily erected to connect to the Vigil Keep.
The Black Lion Trading Post, Bank, and Guild services have moved to the Vigil Keep.
Dungeon reward vendors and cultural weapon vendors have moved to the Vigil Keep.
The powerful Zommoros, along with Miyani, have relocated near the new asura gates.
Sonder the Seller, Scornheart, and Poyaqui are also available.
Floating above is the captain’s airship, the Havoc’s Heir, a one-stop shop for all services.Firstly, you can’t take the word of one Dev over an official release.
Secondly, ‘all services have been moved’ could and probably does refer to ‘all services that were to be moved have been moved.’ It’s ambiguous wording on the part of one Dev. Read the release and get over it.
Bolded something to further show that they never said all services except for the one employee who was mistaken after the release had already occurred.

Can anyone confirm the potion shares the same bug as other slayer potions? If it does, I feel sorry for the dev who worked on this potion knowing it would not work as intended.
People have confirmed it in this thread.

You can remove QoL features from the game. You can add QoL features to the game behind a paywall.
But when you take what’s currently a free QoL feature and put it behind a paywall, that’s really bad. And judging from Anet’s response (i.e., none) this is a sign of things to come.
And looking at how Anet creeps these out slowly, here’s likely what’s next:
- Any new map will have a paywall on its WPs. (White knights: “hey, you can just walk so it’s ok, right? Plus, I walk everywhere anyway, who needs WPs?”) Then:
- All WPs will be paywalled. (White knights: “hey, you can just walk so it’s ok, right? Plus, I walk everywhere anyway, who needs WPs?”)

Except it’s highly unlikely that there will be enough people farming rubble to have an impact on events. You’re talking about something that could be done within 30 minutes only once a day.
Events will remain scaled down so smaller groups can do them still just as easily. I’ve also quite often seen many people afk on the map or running away from the events as well. Obviously they’re not contributing and yet the events still succeed.

You have to succeed every defend event at a rally camp for an entire evacuation cycle. Evacuation cycles end at 50 minutes past the hour, that is when you would receive credit if you managed to hold the rally camp the entire cycle.
Hello. Could you define what you mean by ‘you’? Do you mean the individual player must be present for every successful defend event for the respective rally point? How the mechanic works would effect Triple Play as well. To complete that achievement does a player have to be at every spawn or could they organize 3 teams to defend all three places. Asking because I would like to be able to give advice in map chat.

Events scale so those searching for the rubble locations won’t affect you. The proportion of those players compared to those doing events will be relatively small.
Events do scale, but several achievements require no failures of their respective events. The more people farming/grinding rubble, the less likely it is for the map to get those achievements. Without a doubt, the maps spawned after server reset will have a much smaller chance of completing those achievements.
The achievements are well designed but the horns/ halos are not. Why does how we spend the currency matter more than how we get it? How does choosing one vendor over another reveal us as angels or devils? If the devs wanted to provide a way to display player agency/intent, they failed. If they wanted to provide a decorative item that clashes with their achievements, they succeeded.
You didn’t read the second (last) sentence of my post. With the new back pieces, although ugly, people will be doing events more than ever to farm the materials for them.

You do defend event and get credit like any other event. You then do two more.
Thank you for helping set the market value for snark.
soboard,
The Fort Marriner, Postern Ward, and Trader’s Forum defender achievements require every spawn of the respective defend event to succeed. I have not been present for every spawn and have completed the achievement. I can not confirm if you need to participate in at least one.
The Triple Play achievement is similar. You do not need to participate in every successful defend event, but the zone must succeed in every event. From my understanding of the descriptions completing Triple Play should complete all three of the individual defend achievements.
No problem.

New harvesting sickle. Probably has chance to scavenge heirlooms.
Last bit about heirlooms was just speculation.

Heh. I definitely called this into turning into another P2W thread. Just wait until people find out about the new scavenging tools coming out soon…
30 Heirlooms from rubble throughout LA
Reset daily
36
It was a joke. Siri is on the iPhone.
The bank is in Gendarran by the mystic forge.
It’ll work just like any consumable. My guess is that it’ll be like the harpy love potion and will display as a buff lasting only 5 min.

Nobody will know until this weekend when the serious hardcore grinders have gotten theirs. It’ll be Monday at the latest.
It takes like 20-30 minutes at most to get all 36 rubble locations. That’s not much of a grind.
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Ayrilana.1396
And now everyone will be doing this thanks to your post.
Nobody will know until the weekend most likely.
They’re bugged. A dev just responded saying they’re legitimate issues.

I’m assuming it acts like a buff for a limited time like the harpy love potions.
And you’re assuming that the heirlooms from rubble locations don’t reset daily. If they do, then all of this really isn’t an issue.
Many people will have it completed at reset assuming they manage to fix the two bugged achievements.
Anyone see the range for that rocket item you had to use to get to the vista on the small pillar? It has a range of 500,000 in the tooltip (it’s a typo).
You free them by completing the event by them.

If they wanted us to have only ONE of both tonics they could have made it a choice for the meta, or restrict buying to ONE of choice ONLY.
I can see NO reason why they had to make it a grind like hell job.
If you’re through with it in 20 mins… well congratulations! I’ve spend ONE HOUR for nothing because I can’t find anything. Either that or I’m constantly dying and dying and dying again because I seem to be alone searching for them.THis is the worst grind ever… -.-
I’ve spent 5 hours in this maze now, for 25(!) heirlooms… Yeah…!
Well there are maps you can use if time is an issue for you.
so….more achievements ppl can farm, more farming and grinding to do?
ill skip this one…again!!!!
There’s no grinding for the achievements. Most can be gotten within an hour. Exceptions being like the ones at the entrances to LA and maybe the rubble one.
He wants the karka event from November 2012.
Also, you want farming to be a part of the living story otherwise people have no incentive to keep doing it after they’ve gotten their achievements. With how quickly you can get the achievements, people would have been done well before the weekend.

Guys, it’s like snowmans, pignattas and pumpkins. If you enter in a overflow lion arch, you get 30+ rubbles to search.
No. You can search the rubbles on a different overflow but will not get anything if you had already searched it that day.
There isn’t one at the keep. You have to go down below to the tents just a bit south.

Why are people exaggerating how long it would take to collect 30+ heirlooms? I mean really. It takes about 20 minutes to do once you know where they are which isn’t difficult to remember after your second run. I’m pretty sure the rubble locations reset with the daily due to their drop date from bags.
I vaguely remember it being part of a previous living story or perhaps one of the personal story missions.
There’s nothing stopping you from forming a group and exploring. Don’t tell how other people should play according to your standards.

The new airship pass looks exactly like the royal pass as others mentioned. You can get most services by going to Rata Sum and the others are only a wp away.
Thank you Arena Net.
Now, how about adding a new armor set that is acquirable without gem store or long grind?
Sure. They’ll sell it for 52.4 gold.
Or realize that Seattle time is server time and figure out when it is based on daily reset time. People are acting like it’s some obscure time zone when it’s not.
Aren’t time zones taught in countries outside of America?
Can you please explain, what do you mean with America?
Time zones are a global thing. Because the Earth is round, and rotates around the sun, each time zone starts at a different time. As the Earth rotates each hour, the sun reaches a new zone on the surface of the planet. Time zones help to determine the correct start time of each day, so that foreigners have an easier time understanding why America’s daylight time is different than that of another country.
Funny since daylight savings is used in Europe and was first established in Germany.
Someone misused irony again!
You don’t find it ironic that someone asks ArenaNet to “learn” two-dozen time zones, when if they learned one time-zone themselves the problem would go away?
That’s not irony. Irony is when you do something to avoid something but then it occurs as a result anyway. Google Oedipus if you want to see an example. Your example falls more in line with hypocrisy rather than irony.
