What foolishness. Gold sellers exist because people feel entitled to immediately have high end items in a video game – so your solution is just let people have what they want easily.
Thread closure incoming.
And punish loads more players.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, but I just want an official dev answer if possible.
Yeah… I’d put money on that not happening. But good luck.
I’d upgrade them as high as Artificer allows and save them, personally. Gratz on hitting 300 cap though.
Ultimate Dominator can be obtainable.
1/14 WvW titles can be done in the lifetime of GW2.
Yay?
The WvW titles are unattainable. Which is a shame because my top 5 would contain many of them.
Yakslapper for instance requires you to kill 1,000,000 Yaks in WvW. Do the math on how long that would take a player to achieve.
……..
isn’t that strange? a game like the elder scrolls online can’t hold a flame to GW2’s dynamic combat…..
ESO can’t hold a flame to anything. Period.
@ozzy. Your point, if you were to have one, would carry more weight if you weren’t raging and using all caps just to try to win some sort of argument. The frustration is understandable. However all I can get from your posts is that you want to be instantly 80 and at endgame gameplay, which currently in this game is nothing but the evil “grind” you so desperately want to avoid in the lower levels.
You don’t want it to be so time consuming and grindy so you can get to the endgame grind and time sink that much faster.
In one way you could say it means more to get a character to lvl 80 and traited now, which I like personally. I like the challenge. However compared to what it was so recently I know it doesn’t seem fair.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
Right.
Because they can’t create good looking weapon skins without putting special effects on it to make it look better than it actually is.
Punishing content? You mean anything that doesn’t require you to spam 1 while watching TV?
Seriously, if anything this game needs a heck of a lot more difficult content.
+10,000
At least I would if I could. * sigh *
Again, I wish to mention that this mega server should be optional! If people want the overloaded zones, let them fill their boots. For those that do not, let us have our communities and home servers back.
Believe Revler posted a good suggestion on another thread that was just that. Implementing a district system where we can have the option of going home server, high pop mega, medium pop mega, and low pop mega. Is a great idea but I doubt ArenaNet will be that kind.
Sad as I know I sound when typing this… All I can imagine them doing is buttering up the kitten they call megaservers, so it goes down easier for us.
Yeah, well, its best not to view the Manifesto these days. They no longer follow it.
I’m afraid we shall have to agree to disagree on what is and isn’t rewarding. I’m a veteran player and I find leveling this new alt to be fun. More challenging but still fun.
Anet must feel like parents of spoiled little kids after reading this thread.
This.
OP’s opening comment of “make it better! do not make excuses just give something good!” is really rude and pointless. Some others had some constructive ideas (I think a mini of our own character would be funny), but mostly it just seems the purpose of the topic is to complain preemptively that a “birthday” gift might not be extravagant enough.
Yes, I suppose it is so silly of people to have expectations. I mean its not like GW1 made each character’s birthday something unique and exciting.
Oh wait…
It did.
1. How? They lack the skill points for even adept traits, and they don’t have access to the money-making systems yet. And, they don’t know how the traits play out, so have no idea what’s worth their time and money or not.
2. Except the requirements are on the wrong side of the world, or well above their level. And, they don’t even have traits yet, because they’re not yet level 35. And even after that, they don’t have enough to play around with what the system has to offer until level 70+. Leveling is dull and unrewarding, with 60 completely dead levels.
3. New players don’t spend money on the Gemshop – they’re still new, and trying out the game to see whether it’s worth actually investing more than the minimum in. Pay-To-Win (Which is what you’re suggesting) is the #1 way to drive new players away from the game.
1) By the time they can purchase traits, if that’s the route they take, they have skill points. As far as not knowing what is what — I do believe they (being new players) can research traits/builds OR… heaven forbid…. play a new game with reckless abandon and learn to play by doing just that – playing it.
2) We’ve been spoiled, haven’t we? So used to getting what we want, when we want it. A little patience would go a long way. Again if its a trait or series of traits that one HAS to have immediately, there are options of doing just that. Your argument almost seems self-defeating. You say leveling is unrewarding, yet you have to level in order to be rewarded. Go figure.
3) First off, I wasn’t “suggesting” it as the best option. However it IS an option. Also where do you get your facts that new players don’t use the gem shop?
Most of the people, as far as I can see, that are against the current trait system aren’t new players. Yet you’re using new players as your main argument against said system. I would like to hear more feedback from those players themselves. Don’t think it would be as bad as we’re all making it out to be. Just try to imagine if this current trait system had been implemented at launch. Would you truly feel as if you’re being cheated then? You’d have nothing to compare it to.
The gold and Skill Point sinks target the wrong demographic – they hit new players, not the ones who actually have gold/skill points to spare.
And those people have other options.
- Make money (minor traits are only 10silver each, plus skill points)
- Unlock trait by hunting down and completing requirement
- Buy gems and convert to gold
I’m sure many will jump on the last option mentioned above. Whatever. It is the game we play in and we do so by choice. But before anyone goes all dramatic anti-gemshop on me. PLEASE remember that there are options for all players – whether they be new players or just another alt for veteran players.

Well, like Anet always likes to remind us about……
Get more Gold!
Don’t forget that you can exchange gems and gold at our currency exchange on the second tab of the Black Lion Trading Company! Currently, you can get 1 gold for about 15 gems and 50 gold for about 700 gems!
Gems for Gold
Don’t forget that you can exchange gems and gold at our currency exchange on the second tab of the Black Lion Trading Company! Currently, you can get 10 gold for about 145 gems and 50 gold for about 720 gems!
Which explains why it always gets harder and harder to make gold every update, cause they would rather us buy gold than actually earn it in game.
Flagellating a deceased equine.
I have started a new character recently. I’ll grant you that its more challenging now. But I don’t necessarily count that as a bad thing. With the excess of gold in the game – a gold sink or two are welcome. Nor do I have any trouble with skill points, in fact I have more than I need… WHEN I need them.
You don’t need every trait and skill at the moment of your character’s creation. Think about what you will actually use and what you won’t – then go from there. Just doing map completion and some events I’m unlocking traits that I wasn’t actively trying to unlock.
They will come.
In the end, the fight is fine. There’s no need to change it and reward stupidity.
As evil as it will sound…
I actually enjoy sitting back and watching the megazerg crash and burn during this event. I agree with Aurellian here – please don’t “reward stupidity”.
The Chinese can stand the grind better than us, but they also care more about the loot than us. GW2 a loot doesn’t go well together.
Rather tired at the racist comments.
what if anet is the gold sellers in diguise? because obviously reporting them/blocking does nothing to help
PLOT TWIST NCsoft is phone
Well that would certainly explain why Anet continues to remove threads that are related to gold selling in anyway. Even threads were people have legitimate complaints about gold selling and come up with ways to reduce/stop it are being removed.
+1
To the above posters that want more unique minis instead of one single mini given out by the millions — I’m afraid ArenaNet/NCsoft won’t do it as it would cut into their mini pack gem market. Its the only reason I can come up with why they did it the first time and I don’t see them changing now.
I’m sure that if we asked the right groups of people, we could get some very viable options for making male characters sexy and also collect good data on body parts of men that appeal to women and men into dudes. Not playing the realism card, just refuting the “impossible” claim against male avatar sexiness and skimpyness.
I’m not saying men can’t be sexy. But while women have dozens of choices to be sexy and skimpy, men don’t have too much.
They have few choices to be sexy, and even fewer to be sexy and skimpy without being borderline “ADULT ONLY”.
But Anet could do a bit sexier pants by making them a bit more low-rise or at least making the character wear the pants more “inclined” (can’t really explain that) instead of straight around the waist.
Personally I disagree with the above belief that apparently only women are “sexy” when showing their bodies and men are not. Actually kittenes me off a bit.
I have always loved armor styles like gladiator armor. Characters in the 300 movies or Spartacus series come to mind.
So in short, keep us in touch.
Wishful thinking at this point.
Think if the trait hunting system was introduced at launch we wouldn’t have the QQ we have now. Personally I view traits as a buff to a character, not a nerf if you don’t have them all. I don’t mind questing for the ones I want.
I’m also against all event timers… the megazerg, champ trains, and event camping is bad enough as it is. Don’t care to see it made any easier for them.
Though I agree with you, as my block list is getting long itself, I’m afraid its pointless in this thread as you have NAMED “they who must not be named”. Therefor your complaint is worthless in the eyes of Anet Devs/Mods.
Voldemort!
But just like someone else says. You have to arrive 1 hour early…
This is what needs changing, not the dynamics of the Teq fight.
Yeah, ’cause who in their right mind ever arrives early for anything important?
There’s a huge difference between arriving 5-10 minutes early and arriving 30 minutes to an hour early. I can’t think of one job interview or other important real life event where I felt it was necessary to show up an hour early and stand around.
Not even if it were an event or interview that had a LOT of other interested individuals all vying for prime positioning?
But just like someone else says. You have to arrive 1 hour early…

Threads like this are the reason why Arenanet can’t rely on their playerbase for feedback.
Because people just happen to have differing opinions or because people like to post on threads with absolutely nothing to contribute?

Oh well, honestly I had hopes on playing without time pressure for a time.
I see that they will keep making this temporary content, but I hope that they do not pump it so frequently. I hate playing pressured by time restrictions.
“PLAY NOW. FAST! FAST! GOT THOSE ACHIEVS AND REWARDS OR YOU GONNA LOST IT FOREVER!!! DONT TAKE A BREAK OR YOU GONNA MISS THE STORY!!!”
But, I guess that I’m a minority here… in all aspects… maybe it’s just not the game for me.
Personally I like temporary content. Heh, I think I am in the minority, not you. My reasoning is that its like a festival (in this case it actually is), if you had the opportunity to be there then that’s great. If not then oh well, you missed your chance.
However if all ArenaNet releases is temp content then it becomes a pain, for sure. A great balance would be updates with a bit of both.
Also remember that you don’t NEED the achievements. Its just your OCD and/or perfectionist personality that demands it.
Reading comprehension and critical thinking are neat huh?
Yuppers. So is having the ability to clear up any confusion another person has without being a total kitten .
Read the chat. Communicate. Stop zerging. Think.
That’s why I love it just as it is. It can’t be stupidly zerged out with 1111111 zerg tactics alone. Please do not nerf Tequatl.
Personally I like the buff. Tequatl is a bloody DRAGON. It should be as hard as it possibly can be. I’d be for buffs on the other dragons.
Its not very gratifying to attack a dragon’s foot, taking no damage, and kill said dragon in 5 minutes. Looking at you Shatterer!

Skimpy and male just ….do not sound right together. shudders
Sounds right enough for me.
Heh, ’cause all we need are MORE people/toons running around with legendary weapons. Because granting people an unlocked legendary skin across his/her account just is not enough, no we need more.
You DO know, that this would result in less people running with legendary (skins) around?
No, I do not share your logic.
Like blaming the creator of Jenga when the game falls to pieces and isn’t instantly reset for another round.
Also if there was only enough players for one district , that’s all you could get. There was no way to create one , other than if the first one was full and another needed.
I don’t remember that being the case. I remember being able to choose between America (I think) and International at any time of my choosing.
I don’t like the megaserver at all. It is better than what we had, with empty zones, but I would like a system where users can instead select from a list of districts like:
>Tarnished Coast (your server district)
>District 1 (93% full)
>District 2(83% full)
>District .. 23 (15% full)And also gives us the option of what sort of district we want to automatically be assigned: server, high pop, low pop
Ah, a dream come true if they put this in.
Agreed.
Heh, ’cause all we need are MORE people/toons running around with legendary weapons. Because granting people an unlocked legendary skin across his/her account just is not enough, no we need more.
Each zone would have to have its own list of districts, basically. Lots more clicking just to get to a zone, but there’s ways around that too.
Why would each zone have to have its own list of districts and that you feel players would have to pick districts each time they zoned, please.
Also, as soon as an account gets like 5 or 10 reports, they are automatically censured and can’t chat/whisper for a few hours and are immediately reviewed for banning. no more ban waves. If it’s done as it happens, then they won’t pile up and everyone is happier.
Sadly that would be open to far too much abuse.
If this suggestion were put in place, would it not make it more difficult to meet/chat with people outside of your guild/friend roster?
I only fear that everyone and their mother would choose this option because of the problem – then goodbye whispering strangers. “So what?” you may ask. Well talking with people on map chat is open to trolling = another problem, and /say chat has limited range.
Would prefer a solution to the problem, in place of any suggestion to hide from the problem.
- Flail
- Scythe
- Great Axe
- Halberd
- Crossbow
Personally I’m for new weapons spread across the classes – I would be against ALL weapons for ALL classes.
Customers that quit are infinitely harder to reclaim than it is to retain customers considering leaving. Makes me question why people would think they’d give more than a passing thought as to why people left instead of giving more considering to the reasons people are considering leaving.
As its been previously stated – the reasons the OP and/or other people that have left recently directly coincide with those that are thinking of leaving soon themselves.
This game will be taken in the direction that is best for China, every update from now until the game is done with will be done with China in mind, if it does not work there, it will never be put into the game, you can be the most hardcore fan of GW2 or hate it to the core, but its fact now, the Chinese have to pay to play this game, we get it for free, any update that will come to the game will have to be in the best interest of the Chinese market, NA/EU are not the primary audience anymore, not when they can make x10 as much money from the Chinese market.
Tell me why it matters if this is true.
If things get fixed and the game improves, why does it matter if it was because of China and not NA/EU? Chinese gamers are gamers too – so I REALLY don’t understand this.
Not fair that only NPCs can do it :/
Because the NPCs are secretly laughing at you when they get to wear cross-cultural armor, am I right?
When do we for example get Elona or Cantha?
Always find it interesting when people start talking about expansion for Elona and/or Cantha when we don’t even have all of Tyria open and explored yet.
I think mega servers are overall good for the game but sometimes I do miss the non mega server days. So if anet made 1 server a non-mega server would you prefer to play on it?
It could also make events such as the blitz Crown Pavilion much easier to organize and complete.
I would definitely prefer to play on a non-megaserver map. Though I don’t see how you could create that and not just return to home-world maps. Think about it… just imagine how many people would jump on the non-megaserver map. In my mind it would just become another megaserver. Just as bad.
When you come down to it, all it would be is a short district system. Would you like
1) MegaZerg
or
2) MegaKitten ???
Thank you and have a nice day.
One thing I forgot to mention is that I’d really like to see is unique weapon and armor skins from completing a zone, from the heart karma vendors. I feel like this would make the exploration experience feel a lot more rewarding.
That is a great idea. Not only would it be adding more skins to the game but it would draw more people out for map completion across Tyria. Only down side I see to this is it would take away from NCsoft’s profits in the Gem shop where nearly all new skins go.
