You seem to have missed the previous changes to Champion events where they’re now dynamically scaled in enemy “ranks.” Take the former champ bandit in weeniedale as an example. The event would clearly state it’s a “Champion blablabla” but it would have spawned as a mere veteran. As more people show up, it would scale to an elite, and finally a champion. I suspect the same thing is occurring with champions in Gendarren Fields. Alternatively, you may be talking about Champions that had no corresponding event. In which case, no, they’re no longer champions in any shape/form.
…Huh. I didn’t know that either. Thanks, Aidan.

Please check the last Update.
Because they want you to use the cash shop. I’ve been saying this for months.
Please correct me if I’m wrong here…. But is it not true that if people start buying gems for this purpose, then gems get cheaper for those of us that convert gold to gems?
Short of a total expansion – at least seeing the rest of Tyria open and explorable. (oh and not kitten like Southsun is)
OP, I don’t know who you are and I don’t care what your reasons are. If you don’t like the game then just leave, if you have better things to do then just leave. If you want to tell Anet then send them an email or write them a letter. This sort of crap is nearly as bad as gold seller spam.
And threads about gold seller spam.
Actually these “Goodbye” threads carry weight and have meaning. Though I imagine you and ArenaNet would rather sweep them under the rug and hide the fact that players are leaving the game for good reasons.
Players speaking to ArenaNet:
“You have been weighed,
You have been measured,
and you have been found wanting.”
The problem isn’t with this one advert. If they read the forums at all, which they do, they’ll know that tension on the gem store at the moment is at an all-time high.
Yet what dot hey do? Oh that’s right! Let’s put an in-game advert at the players just to see how vexed they can reaaally be!
^This. I’m not one of the people that are crying out over the gem shop but it was rather foolhardy to advertise like they did at present.
Of course it does not have to be that way for you.
You are a free man, you can do anything you want.
But please don’t go against us who care.
If you don’t want to bother yourself with loot and item progression, don’t bother, no one is gonna judge you.
But here we are talking about an extremely large part of the community that actually cares. The (semi) hardcore part of the community.
Ah. This is only a portion of your post but the main thing I got from it was “You don’t agree with me/us, so be quiet.” If that’s how you handle things, sure, I’ll step away too so you guys can self-righteously pump each other up.
Someone made a comment on another thread that struck me. Its like we can never get enough, EVER, that we have to have more “bling” on our characters than we already have. Like someone poured glue on half the players and then let them role around in a junkyard.
No.
they have to make money.
all businesses advertise. while i agree its tacky and lame, it is better than annoying splash graphics on the website and launch page. its a little text blurb….ignore it like you do half the morons who post stupid kittene.
They already advertise. Each time you log in you see whats new in the Gem Shop each week.
The mystic forge is a gamble. The NPC by the forge states as much. You voluntarily gambled your entire savings, and lost. Not to sound mean, but the truth can hurt.
Don’t believe he was trying to gamble. He literally just wanted to throw his money away and then get on a soap box to QQ for attention.
<3 seeing advocates of even more instanced zones in an “open world” thread.
Personally I don’t find any harm in them advertising the Gem Shop in game during the festival. With that being said – if they start spamming it then we will have problems.
Would be friggin’ great. But then all the people who want some breathing space would escape there, quickly eliminating all the breathing space. :P
^This. It would just become another megaserver.
Yet ANOTHER mount thread. I guess the Pro-mount people think that if they just keep creating the same thread every 3 days then their POV will gain merit.
Please merge this thread with the last Mount thread… or lock it entirely if that is more appropriate.
- DPS skills should be rebalanced, so single target skills deal WAAAY more dmg than AoE skills, so e.g. 5 backstab thiefs can take down enemies one-by-one, or all 5 focus on one to kill it in a second then hide and kill the next. Or Pick 5 DPS eles with arcane skills, they could spike one enemy and damage the rest at the same time, then kite around and take them down one-by-one.
I could take that upgrade if enemy NPCs got an equally large damage increase in AoE dmg. World Boss: “You want to zerg me down faster? Okay. Eat my AoE, kittens.”
However if you increased single target skills damage… spiking in WvW/PvP would be even worse than it is now. Imagine the rage in that.
EDIT: Realized after posting that you deliberately titled it ‘PvE Balance and Diversity’. I would hate for us to fall deeper down that hole. The one where PvP and PvE are no longer compatible and you can’t just hop from one to the next without fear that your build isn’t what is should be.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
I have to say I’m hearing the dog part for the first time. Cat/Bull being the artistic inspiration was my impression.
Which part invokes the idea of a dog to some? Just curious, not judging.
I was wondering the same thing. The only thing I could come up with is that their warband mentality is a lot more like a canine pack than felines. Granted you have lions and their prides – but overall felines are pretty solitary creatures. Canines are extremely pack oriented across the board.
I didn’t mean to imply that. I meant the whole process should be worth that amount, like if we were to farm matts to craft the precursor it should be worth around 500g. I take for example the crude gold-to-item Icy Runestones requirement as a parameter (100g in total).
Ah, okay, I see what you mean. IF precursor crafting ever came into play that would be a good rough estimate, I suppose.
So why give them your time and money, when its obvious that they are not listening to their customers.
One could argue that they are listening as I don’t believe the Queensdale champ train would have gone down like it did, nor the other starter zone champs, if it were just that “ArenaNet isn’t listening”.
The problem is that ArenaNet isn’t responding to an even greater issue. Radio silence. With that level of high care customer support – it is far too easy to imagine that they are just waiting us out. ArenaNet: “Eventually they will shut up and get over it.”
Gems are onsale now! You can convert 100 gems for 7.5g with a quick swipe of your credit card. This deal wont last forever.
Ah, so you’re just going to troll with that line across multiple threads in the forums today huh?
Let me guess: you’ve gotten tons of armored scales already and want this spot nerfed so their prices go up… hence the post. Am I right?
Oh… Nice call out. * claps *
I believe the intended price for precursors should be capped around 500g at the very maximum. The post above mine just shows how KITTENING messed up this thing is getting, to a point it becomes ridiculous.
You want an enforced cap on the Trading Post? No thank you. The only reason precursors are so bloody high on the market is because people are buying them at high prices.
Want them to go down? Okay, stop rewarding the high sellers. Don’t buy from them. Wait and let them suffer.
They don’t “nerf loot”, they enforce a fiercely Spartan/sparse model and go around wiping out aberrations. They don’t want you to stop farming… they want you to never have done it in the first place, because farming/grinding sucks the joy out of play.
That could make sense, until you look at an ascended light armor recipe.
At TP prices.
At laurels and other timegatings.
And at what you need to actually have fun.If they didn t want you to farm (wich is FALSE, they clearly states they are against GRINDING, but farming is OK!) they would have given you method to get whatever you want playing the way you want…
Instead they had it but changed things so you NEED grinding.
Correction: You don’t “need” to grind. We choose to grind but make no mistake, it is not a requirement. Just playing the game over time will net you the farming mats, gold, etc that are needed for the things we want. Those that grind do so because they want their PRECIOUS as soon as possible. There is no form of patience with so many people. Believe it or not there were rewards put in play to reward people over the long term… but we as a whole got it in our heads that we should have it NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!
Not happening. Anet has said it is not happening. It is one of the few things they have ever been adamant and forthright about.
No. Not. Happening. Ever!
For the record ArenaNet has changed their mind about far more important issues in the past, this one would be no different in the future – IF it became a source of profit for them.
They’re Charr. Granted they are feline but it doesn’t make them a “cat”.
If you really stop to think about how many champions are out there in Tyria today, many of which sit safely ignored, it would be amazing if we could make it to where people actively hunt them down on a more regular basis. Though I would say that champ loot would need a small buff for this to be a good enough idea.
Don’t forget WP costs. But even worse, waypointing between maps is a REAL big hassle these days. You’d need to buff champ loot dramatically.
Plus, if you make champs lootable only once a day, people won’t repeat them… so depending on when you play, you might not be able to find anyone to run the circuit.
I have no trouble with waypoint costs. None. Back at launch it was a drain but these days its pocket change.
Also “people won’t repeat them” and “you might not be able to find anyone to run the circuit” was the point I was trying to make. No train. No repetition. No zerg. Just people out on all the maps killing champions if they so chose to do so. Would even see people doing long lost event chains just to get rarer champs to spawn.
Agree with champ loot needing a buff again, for this idea to work, but it need not be a “dramatic” increase.
Your first idea is exactly what world bosses are now. If you look up the schedule, you can follow the world boss train around for a sense of community.
That is not community. Before you argue it, know that I run one almost every night with my guild. We even include champs that aren’t on timer, like Fire Shaman, into the mix. I would call it a farming event – but not a “sense of community”. I suppose we just have different definitions on what community means.
It’s exactly the same level of community that was previously present in the Queensdale champ train, except everyone knows exactly when each boss spawns and none of them overlap.
That’s a joke, right? QD champ train was your poster child for GW2 community?
This thread is pointless.
That could very well be true.
However I still stand that I’m not one of those people. I have far too many characters as it is and I’ve no need for more. I would like the game to be fun again, so I can enjoy the characters I have (lvl 80 or otherwise).
I still fail to see what you seem to be. I don’t get how there would be any taking of “money from the majority”. I am not a person that upon seeing that transmutation is free on low level alts will go, “Hey now I will go make more alts.”
MMOs are weird.
Why should ANet do this? MONEY!
Why should ArenaNet NOT do this? MONEY!
Sorry. I’ve noticed my transmutation charges vanishing on my lower alts too. Because of that I’m either using an outfit to just cover it all or I’m just not caring. I don’t have the money to throw at NCsoft just for more charges….. BUT…. There are people that do.

To respond to the OP.
I share some of your viewpoints. The idea of 1 Chest per Champion/per day I’ve posted on two other threads and was completely ignored. I think it just got drowned out by all the people QQing over Queensdale. If you really stop to think about how many champions are out there in Tyria today, many of which sit safely ignored, it would be amazing if we could make it to where people actively hunt them down on a more regular basis. Though I would say that champ loot would need a small buff for this to be a good enough idea.
However I disagree with any system that announces champions to the “world”. The Great Boss Timer Schedule is already a megazerg festival, one which is sucking the life out of me at times. If you want to be out there killing champions, then get off your kitten and go hunt down champions.
My two cents.
My guard, The Great Catsby.
Oh…. oh I like that.
I agree that the jumping screenshot was nice. Its just too bad that the Glowing Eyes color doesn’t quite match.
8/10 based on a kick kitten looking charr with a vision of being a King. The furr being so dark causes some contrast issues. But otherwise, friggin sweet.
Below are 2 shots of my Charr Ranger Najagiwanda
6/10
Your character looks like a ranger in that armor. But my eyes just kept being drawn to your hair…. THAT HAIR. Its an eyeball magnet. Also I’m not a fan of ranger masks on charr, it just looks like someone is trying to smother a large cat with a rag (even if you have fangs painted on yours).
My Mesmer…
I apologize ahead of time but I just couldn’t help myself in this case.
Was passing through LA when I spotted two “Workers”… working. * snort *
Then realized it was a decent representation of ArenaNet.
Either this player isn’t aware of the last patch destroying the QD train or is just trolling us.
If ArenaNet seriously just wanted to stop its players from getting loot, then why can I still log in > kill one enemy > get loot.
Hmmm.
I imagine you’re upset not that you can’t get loot, rather that your precious hamster wheel system of farming for loot was destroyed or damaged. QQ
Actually, if you kill a mob, there is a fair chance it wont drop anything at all, even a ruined item. I spent a good amount of time farming skelks in southsun in an attempt to get some tier 6 mats and I could kill several skelks and not see a drop of any sort.
I don’t doubt what you said about killing a mob and getting nothing for it. However I did just log in again, went straight to Southsun, and found some Reef skelk.
After 7 killed I got 1 Large Fang, 3 Dark Stained Claws, and 1 Salvageable Hide. Yeah I know its not a get rich quick situation here – but it is loot. Eventually it adds up.
Edit: Sorry, it was just one fang from the skelk kills, not two.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
If they reset the personal story you’re getting a bunch of keys, transmutation stones, boosters and skins for free. 500 gems wouldn’t cover it.
As far as keys go you only get… what… 3? None of it is free either, you would still have to progress through the Personal story all over again – just like you would if you rerolled. If they made the cost of a kit like this to be greater than the cost of a character slot, I don’t see where the problem would be.
Except, as I previously posted, too many people turning human because its the most pampered race of them all.

I found no trouble with buying the lesser crystals on the TP and Charging them daily. In fact its one of the few ascended mats that I have plenty of atm. >.>
Really don’t see it happening. It would be nice, but its unlikely.
As the above poster mentioned, Personal Story would be a major hurdle. Though I’d be okay with a complete storyline reset if that were the only issue. Another issue is that it forces people that REALLY want to play another race, to roll another character. Which in turn means more $$$ for character slots.
I would also be worried over too many people going Human main with a kit like this. We’re already at a point where ArenaNet is putting more time on improving human armor, skins, hair, etc. They’ve admitted as much. So imagine players that know it and just want to be on the only race ArenaNet cares to create good armor, styles on? I know it wouldn’t be everyone, that many would switch to races other than human, I’m just worried that too many would turn to the majority.
Guys… Could we please not start another thread on the same subject? Please? There are too many already and its tiresome to keep track of them all.
Most of the Phoenix weapons are gigantic compared to other sets. I agree that the Phoenix Hammer is probably the biggest hammer in the game right now. The Phoenix Greatsword possibly too.
No rifle comes close to dethroning the Charrzooka so far, however.
Pretty sure the Fractal GS is probably the biggest. The mistforged GS is massive also, probably the bigger than the Fractal, but we won’t see it for another week or so.
The problem I have with these greatswords that are excessively large, rather too broad, is that they look more like overlarge paddles – not swords. They look like something you would use to spank someone with before you would cut them with it.

I know there are others but here are two threads that are both active atm. Please post there.
…and invisible walls protecting enemy npcs from being knocked off a cliff. These types of things, imo, ruin the fun of abilities when you just want to have a chuckle or try something a little too awesome.
I’ve wanted this since launch. Even to this day I HATE being knocked off a platform by an enemy NPC that I couldn’t do the same to. I swear every time I’m in this one dredge filled cavern because it happens so very often.
We are allowed to use those control skills in PvP but not PvE. Its sad.
2- If not go to character select and guest to a different server (often you get put on a new megaserver)
3- Repeat until you find a temple event.
I was doing this until they fixed it to where you can only guest to two servers again. Wasn’t even about the Temples either… it was a broken Foulbear.
