It honestly baffles me that some people are so hostile to roleplayers. I don’t roleplay, but I enjoy making up stories and backgrounds for my characters, and I’ve always admired the creativity of the roleplayers. How can someone NOT like people roleplaying around them? It makes the world feel more real. Sometimes, it’s fun to just stand out of the way and watch the stories unfold.
I’ve seen people say all sorts of mean, offensive, and plain idiotic things about roleplayers. And again, I don’t get it. It’s like hating a person because they prefer books over movies, or because they like the color green. Yet somehow, because roleplayers play the game different, that makes them worthy of bullying.
It really is a shame that the megaservers have made this particular community so vulnerable to trolling and bullying. Arenanet needs to do something about this.
I agree. I’m not a roleplayer but I usually enjoy seeing it when I pass by. Sometimes I’ll just sit and listen/watch as I would an interesting NPC interaction.
As for megaservers and RP. I believe that the number of trolls has gone up because of the megaservers. Its not just about the regular trolls in each individual server being thrown into the mix, the Megaserver system is creating new trolls I think. Its far too easy now for people to be cruel to others when they most likely won’t be seen again.
Anyway the whole point is that they are not selling so many new accounts these days, despite the half price sales…
China says hello.
That’s what I always figured would happen in the end because of the no monthly fee model. I would not be surprised if we don’t see some sort of ftp stuff in one or more of the starter zones soon.
GW1 lasted a long time on the same model. HOWEVER… they had Factions, Nightfall, and EotN to help them out. >.>
Agree with one of the above posters. I don’t expect them to note the when, where, and why of NPC movements.
Just look at all the LA refugees that are moving back into a broken city after losing everything. ArenaNet: “They’ve lost their children, their homes, and their very livelihood here — so we thought they’d all be perfectly okay moving back here.”
The hammer is fantastic.
The hammer is HUGE. Like… I want to see it on an asuran warrior/guardian. O.O
Why is stating the truth being dramatic? It is what it is. They want you to farm gems. I’ve accepted that as the truth.
Its the truth as YOU see it. I’m afraid that doesn’t necessarily make it so. To answer your question – Its how you chose to speak your mind. “Woe is me!” = Dramatic
Why is stating the truth being dramatic? It is what it is. They want you to farm gems. I’ve accepted that as the truth.
As a side note: I find it funny that people who hate champ farming are ok with key farming because that’s the way they want to play. Can’t wait for the nerf hammer to hit that one. TBH I feel rather foolish that I have not been key farming. I should delete one my 80’s to free up a key farming slot. What fun! Gonna watch da lootz roll in
Good luck with that. There won’t be a steady stream of “da lootz” rolling in. Farming for keys, as you can’t sell said keys, is a lot like buying a lottery ticket. Largely unrewarding… with the occasional nice drop that has a person running back to buy more lottery tickets.
I’ve tampered with farming keys off and on. Its extremely time consuming.
You have no idea how I feel about anything, so please don’t try to interpret my feelings from internet posts. It’s just sad and very wrong and a waste of your time and energy. I’m not the only person to see the writing on the wall here regarding the gem shop.
Farming for keys is “unrewarding”??? I had a person in my guild last night that already posted about 14 new skins on the TP and expects to be uber-rich overnight. How? They key farm instead of champ farm. Maybe you only “tampered” with it, but there are (a lot of??) people that probably do this excusively for days and weeks at a time, for just this sort of thing. New skin at 1 ticket = highway to richness. Yet, everyone seems ok with that, including ANet. Like I said, I just kick myself for FARMING the wrong thing.
Vitriol indeed.
Do you even read what you type and how you’re typing it? Anyone can read “how you feel” through your posts because its how you’re choosing to show yourself. Don’t be surprised that when you start spewing all over this thread, you may just get called out on it. Hell I may even get called out for responding to you again… I would respect it from anyone other than you.
Secondly, I had said key farming was “largely unrewarding” – not just “unrewarding”. Its a gamble, tickets/scraps are not guaranteed. I’ve opened 34 chests in one go (‘cause I can’t save up a full stack of keys like some people can) and only gotten 1 scrap for my efforts. Another thing is that your making it sound like your friend/guildmate farmed for one evening and got 14 tickets then and there. He/she most likely saved tickets over a long period of time (granted “long” is relative), waiting for a new BL skin line to be introduced.
Personally I would hold 14 Pheonix skins for a few months when the price per skin goes up from 1 ticket per skin to 5 tickets each. Then skins sell for much more. But to each his/her own.
Though I’m happy with a couple things in the latest patch/update – I’m not going to just forget the issues I have with your 4/15 Feature Pack, ArenaNet. Mainly Megaservers and the boss timer schedule system. Some of us may just let it go, may even forget about the issues that had them riled up a month ago, but I am not among that crowd.
If I don’t hear back from you all soon… I’ll prolly have to retire from the game. I’m sure there will be people that will go, “Boo hoo. Now give me your stuff.” I don’t care about them. I care about this game but I can’t take it the way it is any longer. Its not fun at present. The people I play with are the only reason I log in each day and many of them are beyond frustrated too. We have nearly 2000 posts in this thread alone and all you people have cared to respond with is a , “We’re busy.”
Not good enough.

This wouldn’t get the hate it has if people weren’t so used to mindless zerg trains.
+1
The argument that mounts are not, “needed,” in GW2 doesn’t hold up to me because nothing in the game, not even the game itself, is needed. People want mounts because they do. Because they believe that they will enjoy them. Because to them, perhaps, the concept of playing a knight on a steed is fun.
Now, it is important to remember that not everything that someone might want in game can be implemented. Resources are finite. But, “its not needed,” is probably the worst reason to not add something to the game. By definition if, “not needed,” was the determining factor for changes or additions to the game then absolutely nothing would have been or ever will be added or changed.
Well said.
Really? Because I call BS. “It’s not needed.” is the “worst reason”? Yeah, no. Its important.
There are soooooooo many things that are needed. Spending time and resources on something as silly as mounts is frustrating to even think about. I can’t help but view your argument as being very juvenile. Like a child screaming, “But I want it!” Repeatedly. Over and over. Then the more rational beings around said child think or say, “You don’t need it.” or “No”.
But then with your logic we should give that obese little child that candy bar because they’ve been screaming that he/she wants it for so long and “its not needed” isn’t a valid argument.
Now let’s wait for that white knight posting that we shouldn’t play for reward.
One should always play for some kind of reward. Just maybe that reward doesn’t always need to be $$$. Mmkay?
Absolutely agree with you.
But for this particular encounter, which is it?
Is it an engrossing story?
Is it amazing combat?Besides “insert AP checklist here”, what reward this encounter does provide?
To be perfectly honest, I can not speak for any of the events in the 5/20 Update… yet. I logged online in the evening to my guild saying it wasn’t fun and wasn’t worth it. Take that coupled with the fact that I don’t enjoy being told by ArenaNet what to do and when – I’ve felt no need to jump into it yet.
I’m also not an AP farmer by any means. I’ve got around 7k points from just enjoying the game, though compared to many of the people on my friends list I think I sometimes get laughed at for how low it is.
As for my earlier post – I responded as I did because in the large scheme of things players should play for reward. Just that so many people are using the argument that the reward is either $$$ LOOT $$$ or Bust. I disagree.
Ronah, though your stance is valid – I can’t help but feel that it falls flat, especially with its over use of late.
Eventually measures MUST be taken to fix problems and/or recreate systems that need it. If we always went with letting players play the way they want, regardless of the impact it has, the game would be a very sad place indeed. Try to imagine as many of the exploits that have come and gone, and some that are still here today, that people actually enjoyed doing. Where would we be if we let those players continue to play the way they wanted to?
Granted that’s an extreme example. However I still believe in my heart that ArenaNet is doing what they can to keep Guild Wars 2 balanced, fun, and playable. Now I’m no white knight for them, I actively oppose many of their recent “updates”, but I still have some faith.
ArenaNet developers are human. They make mistakes, as we all do. They’re not out there playing some twisted version of ‘Whack-a-Mole’ with a “nerf hammer” just for the hell of it, just to ruin people’s fun.
Now let’s wait for that white knight posting that we shouldn’t play for reward.
One should always play for some kind of reward. Just maybe that reward doesn’t always need to be $$$. Mmkay?
I love how it’s always the same people who are so quick to defend ANet.
Interesting.
I support ArenaNet’s decision to remove any form of champ farming in starter zones. They have my thanks for that long overdue move.
However I’m still against the Megaserver Feature Pack as a whole.
There are so many champs in the other areas, that most of the time simply were ignored.
What if they increased Champion loot AND put in place a one bag per day, per champion cap? Would that be incentive enough for the player base to explore ALL the maps and not just find another hamster wheel map to sit in for hours on end? Or would people just find a way to turn it into another massive “train”?
I think it has potential. I mean there are how many possible champions across all the maps? If people wanted to farm for those increased rewards, they’d be booking it for a long time I think.
Posting the above from another thread because I think its a good idea but will probably go unnoticed in said thread, as its mostly filled with people raging or trolling. Mostly.
“You have been posting for 3 hours. Please go play in traffic.”
But…
But…
….FINE. * walks away from computer *

I can’t find the post, but I’m almost sure I saw a dev saying to keep them because TONS of these materials will be required for legendary armor.
If what you say is true then I need to go find my umbrella for the coming kitten storm.
However if you’re just pulling “legendary armor” rumors out of your rear end… well then shame on you, Sir. :P
EoTM should not be nerfed, let us not forget it was designed to be a PvP environment. But the player base like in all things managed to turn it into a karma train, asking ArenaNet to fix problems created by the player base itself is extremely foolish in my opinion.
You say there is a problem but because it was created by the player base they shouldn’t fix it? Since said “player base” won’t fix it themselves, ArenaNet should just let problems continue in your book?
Now THAT strikes me as “extremely foolish”.
I like the new skins but will get ZERO because there is no longer any way to make in-game gold to buy them and I REFUSE to spend one more cent on the gem shop.
I’m sure all the people who are willing to spend countless hours farming keys (WHICH IS OK IN ANET’S BOOK BUT NOT CHAMPS OR EVENTS OR DUNGEONS OH NO) will be super rich. Good on ya.
So….
….dramatic.
I’m pretty sure they plan to release something like this soon.
Now Remember not everyone is a farmer thus players who dont farm need to compete with farmers since gathers are not going to charge 2 prices for farmers and everyone else. Only they have no way of affording 50s per log because their ingame income is way lower then that. So what can they do? start farming 24/7 which they dont enjoy doing or use the credit card ?
Which scenario is more likely?
There is another scenario.
The people that don’t farm hardcore, that aren’t competing for the fastest gold count increase, that aren’t using their credit card to make up any perceived difference.
I’m one of those people. Granted, it takes me FAR longer than a farmer to get this “shiny” and that “precious item” – but I find I rather enjoy my style of gameplay.
Yes, I’m the tortoise.
Thread lock indeed. Mostly just rude people lashing out at ArenaNet and calling the Devs disrespectful.
What a joke.
Time to move on, people.
I’ve heard the FGS train is still up and running these days.
Slightly modified but yes its still up and running.
What?
I have no idea what you are on about
Morrigan, just ignore the troll. He/She didn’t even post towards the OP’s thread subject – just wanted to come in here and troll people.
Wasn’t around for the first LS: Crown Pavilion event. When I logged in today I was immediately told by my guildmates that it “is no fun” and “is not worth it”. With that impression I said, “Thanks but no thanks.”
Instead of “Soldier”?
Other stat sets are called by their name, except this one which is called by its stats.
People are lazy.
PVT = Power, vitality, and toughness.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-Questions-MegaServer/page/39#post4034896
Believe this idea is better suited for this Feedback thread.
I would not move to another MMO/game. If anything I would just use the hours that I spend in this game every day on something more constructive in my life. Maybe come back when I see the first expansion on a shelf in 2017.
Reasons I may leave:
- Megaservers
– Lack of community/server identity
– Guilds being ripped apart constantly
– Zergs so large that my computer freezes up and all I see is a blob
of 80+ people making a “Legendary” world boss melt like butter.
– Events that I can’t do because they aren’t up ever, because now
camping at Temples is the new “thing” to do.
- Lack of new content/Tyria largely unexplored after 2 years.
– Isle of Janthir
– Janthir Bay
– Woodland Cascades
– Far Shiverpeaks
– Blood Legion Homelands
– Blazeridge Mountains
– Maguuma Wastes
– Magus Falls
– Sea of Sorrows
– Deldrimor Front
– Crystal Desert
– Elon River
– Scavenger’s Causeway
– Ring of Fire
- Boss Timer schedule and ArenaNet supported MegaZerg Champ Train.
- WvW
– Maps pretty much the same since launch. I wouldn’t mind them
dropping a Scarlet/LA sized bomb on the lot of them and redoing
it like they’re doing with LA now.
– Blob vs Blob warfare.
That’s primarily it.
Oh and I don’t count Southsun as being new content, before anyone jumps in to say otherwise. It even to this day seems very kitten. None of it effects Tyrian completion, it has no heart quests and no real colonization (people/NPCs) to make it feel alive. All it is to me is the location for the ‘Not so Legendary’ Karka Queen.
Mob Design
I feel one of the biggest issues with mob design is that they’re not built like players. Players have access to more tools and such in comparison to mobs:
Players
- 10+ skills at any point (with a few exceptions)
- 5+ skills on weaponswap
- Traits
- Combo Fields + Finishers
- Upgrades (sigils and runes)
- Dodge
- Unique class mechanics
- Revive
Mobs
- Far less skills available
- No traits
- No weapons
- No bonuses (sigils and runes)
- No dodge in the majority of cases
- Unique mechanics don’t have as much ‘presence’
- No revive
Now, times the tools the player has by 5 (since, you know, 5 players), and the amount of counter-ability available to players far, far outweighs what is available to the mob.
I feel mobs should be built like a player. Give them 10 skills minimum. Give them Traits and Dodge. Give them a unique mechanic. Heck, if there’s other mobs / the boss fight consists of more than one boss, give them the ability to combine their abilities and revive each other.
Wow. I would love PvE so much more with this kind of improvement. The challenge alone would keep me occupied in old zones for a long, long time.
- A detrimental effect on the game’s presentation to new players (difficulty, opportunity, necessity of teamwork, etc.)
So players who first start the game see a group of 50 people appear, kill 6 things in a row and repeat. If I started a new game and saw that as the content of the game, I would never play that game again. It’s better that new players don’t immediately have the most boring aspect of the game (farming) shoved down their throats.
I liked your entire post but especially this. I’ve been playing since launch. I loved the experience I had starting GW2… and if it had been like it was just before this patch, I would not have wanted to play beyond the first day.
Granted I’m still unhappy at the current state of the game. But anything that is done to bring back some of the purity of the original game that I bought 2 years ago is good in my book.
While I like a couple of the new BL skins, I’m still largely disappointed. Just how many skin lines are they going to go with the “just throw fire on it” idea?
Eventually, I’m sure, but not soon.
The earliest I’d expect to see it would be in their first expansion in 2015/2016. That and many other things that people have been demanding since launch may just bring the people that have left (and will be leaving soon) back when they read it listed on a GW2 Expansion.
I’m sorry but I don’t see why all the rage? I’ve been around since launch, logged thousands of hours in game (no I will not say how many >.> ), and haven’t gotten a single precursor — Whats more, I’m Okay with that. I already find that there are too many legendary weapon particle effects flying around for my liking. They are not even “Legendary” anymore. I’m okay with not getting one from the toilet or the RNG gods, as they were supposed to be really and truly RARE.
If your luck is horrible, like mine is, then there is always the option to farm until you can afford to buy it off the TP. Is this not the case?
If you can get rewards in the game then why would you spend $100 a month in the gem store?
Anet has nerfed every farming idea/location ever found in this game without fail.
^ This.
They already started to nerf down to the ground anything profitable to farm.
They nerfed the crit damage, resulting in less damage overall, which means more time to finish dungeons => gold from dungeons rewards now flows into the economy slower.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/phoenix-weapons-new-faces-and-more-in-the-gem-store/Get More Gold!
Remember that you can exchange gems and gold at our currency exchange on the second tab of the Black Lion Trading Company! Currently, you can get 1 gold for about 15 gems and 50 gold for about 670 gems!
How convenient…
Looks like soon there won’t be any other way to obtain gold but through gems only.
Well aren’t you being overly dramatic.
This is really a stupid move by anet. If they wanted to stop then trains then get rid of the loot for the champs, not the champs themselves. Some of us actually like to fight the champs on our spare time. Getting rid of the champs entirely is just stupid.
‘Controversial’ would be the better word, don’t you think? As there are supporters on both sides. Also you won’t win any points by coming into a thread and calling ArenaNet stupid, btw, as it detracts from your point.
As for your argument…. I largely agree but think it would still have ended up with people outraged.
If armour was that bad, how would knights traverse anything? And the horse surely wouldn’t be able to carry a knight if a crane was needed. It would be exhausted after a fairly short distance.
Quite amusing really.
Unfortunately many of the people arguing that the armor was nothing but far too heavy are getting their information from old movies, not history.
Its not just the asuran faces that were disappointing. Most of them just looked like other faces that already existed, like they had been recycled and called “new”. Out of them all I think the male Charr got one good one (and no, I’m not talking about the one that looks like he has a serious skin condition).
As for ArenaNet neglecting and/or not caring about Asurans… I do believe they’ve stated in the past that as players role humans around 60% of the time, that the other races won’t be getting as much attention. Especially Charr/Asuran.
Players: “What about my asuran?!”
ArenaNet: “Meh… EFFORT.”
PPS: If the intent was to move players to a more “organic” play, spread throughout zones in the game, all they will do is force more PvE blobs (huge amounts of players) into following the scheduled Boss Timer, which means, hordes of players descend into a specific waypoint for 15 minutes, kill boss and move to the next zone.
-Again, hard to take this game seriously anymore
I don’t believe there will be a difference in the “Horde” as you call it, which is the perfect word for it in my book btw. The Boss Timer zergs are crazy and I don’t think adding a little more crazy to the pot will make it any more so. The pot is already bubbling over and making a mess.
The QD was a mindless zerg – not doing anything useful and annoying the players actually trying to level. I am happy that it was done – too many level 80’s just doing it BECAUSE!!!
That’s odd because I can recall many times when I was in the train and stepped aside to help people with skill points and such when they asked for help. I also know of many times when others in the train did the same to help new players out.
We get it, not your style of play but no need to make stuff up because you don’t agree with it.
I applaud you for helping others when you visited Queensdale and enjoyed the train. Truly, I do. Even though the other poster was a little heated (as I’m sure MANY more posters will be on this thread) in his response, it does not mean he was “making stuff up” to further his own argument. There have been a great many posts, whole threads even, over the QD train specifically. No other champ train was as controversial.
ArenaNet, you have my thanks.
i recently made a list of content that has stayed.
It is quite a lot.
Most of it is of course polishing and QOL stuff, but hey. they changed the feeling of the game significantly in my opinion.

I will not argue that work hasn’t been done to GW2. However the majority of what I see in your overlong list is polish, not content. There is a difference. Even Anet labeled its latest “Feature Pack” as polish, not content.
The fact that devs are taking the time to answer on posts like this but not more ‘’important ones’’ (no offense OP, this is sick, congratulations!) makes me rather worried really…
I was thinking the exact same thing.
All these replies saying “we have waypoints” are ignoring the point of the post. New characters don’t have these waypoints yet, and they get rid of a combat skill (making the game less fun) in favor of a running skill when completing a new area.
Waypoints don’t exist to these characters yet, and essentially removing 1 combat skill just to travel faster WHEN NOT IN COMBAT is making combat less fun for people playing this game.
Not a hard concept to grasp. The way we have now isn’t fun.
Well thanks for speaking for me. I was not aware that I haven’t been having fun during my map completion adventures. Suppose I’m just not paying close enough attention to myself? Am I too immersed in killing enemies, completing hearts, and exploring to see it?
Hmm… this could be a problem…. I think I’m having fun but someone else says that it just can’t be true.
Imagine at the zerg at Teq with collision turn on.
Random guy: stack on commander please!
everyone comes as close to commander as possible
Commander: wave dodge
Everyone: OMFG MOVE PEOPLE MOVE
Everyone else: OOMG SOMEONE MOVE I CAN’T MOVE
everyone dies….Epic-ness!
I laughed at that. Thank you.
To the OP’s suggestion. I think its a good idea but… yeah… it would be far too easy to troll people if this collision mechanic were turned on.
However I do agree with the OP that blob vs blob isn’t fun or realistic. I almost wish they’d take the 5 man cap off of AoE damage. That way if a zerg wants to group up like that they at least have to be cautious about it. Spreading people out along the battlefield would be a good thing in my book.
EDIT: Was just imagining what popular jumping puzzles would be like with collision turned on. I LOLed so bad.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
What exactly is the problem. In wow you had mounts. Here you have waypoints. What exactly do you need mounts for. To reduce a traveltime from 1 minute to 50 seconds?
Its my belief that the people that keep recreating all these ‘GIVE ME MOUNTS NOW’ threads are exactly that, players from other games like WoW that had mounts. They had them elsewhere and now they want them to exist in GW2.
GW2 apparently isn’t supposed to be its own game, but another cookie cutter copy of another game’s template. Example: “Its just not the same without mounts.”
(edited by Azhure.1857)
This thread will be shut down just like the last one of its kind was, so enjoy it while you can.
Anet dropped a bomb (megaservers) on us and then left with a “we’re busy” excuse. When we reach out to them with feedback, constructive or not, we are given mostly silence. When our cries of frustration grow too long – threads like this one are created and then shut down. Then after a long, painful month — they are ready to shove a pacifier that is the ‘Four Winds Festival’ down our throats, to shut is up like the wailing babes they view us as being.
Great client treatment. I’m sure it’ll work out for them.
2) To balance/normalize travel speed between classes. It´s unfair a warrior can easily stack 1 minute of speed boost while other classes can’t.
Yes, its totally unfair that the classes aren’t all alike and can’t do everything equally. It’s just horrible. Horrible.
I don’t think the psychology is that deep. I just think that the spirit is not in the players to help others now.
You call out in map chat that you need/are offering help with something and nothing returns, even when you have friends unable to get into your instance because it is full.
Agreed. There is no community and no caring. Just a ton of apathetic and mindless groups running from one boss to the next.
Supply and Demand.
