I know everyone’s going to be like “let’s take that one step further and remove armor” just stop…. I’ve heard enough of it. Yes, we could take it that step further; but just go troll elsewhere.
…
…
…
I’d like to thank everyone for being relatively civil so far and for the very interesting, thoughtful posts.
You mean you’d like to thank everyone that agrees with you. Because anyone that doesn’t is just a troll and shouldn’t comment on your thread. How very nice of you.
lol, @ reading =/= playing content.
Yes, “lol”, ‘cause every GW2 player who didn’t play GW1 should not read about the lore and story of the first game if it is of interest to them – no they should pay for it and go play it.
LOL, indeed.
More kilts for men.
What a completely useless timesink that is.
Um… Welcome to an MMORPG. * drops mic *

Or you know… take 5 seconds to log in during the time the ls is active and unlock it permanently…
What if I’m a deployed soldier and logging in is not an option. I’ll have to come back and pay for everything I missed?
Then one could say that yes, you paid for the game. – But its up to you to log in or not.
As for missed content… why not just read about what happened and continue on from there?
Because it doesn’t.
When it’s LS arc is over, it’s gone. Content that’s not there is not content at all.
So if I were to go to a festival or convention for a weekend – It would magically not have happened and be erased from my mind and everyone else that participated in it once it was packed up and cleared?
Please keep in mind that I am not a fan of the Living Story and the lack of permanent content. I’m just disagreeing that it isn’t content, because it is.
Only trust the trustworthy.
Even if it wasn’t them, they got their account stolen – Either buy contacting the gold sellers in some way and/or not adequately securing their password/email.
Let’s not pretend those are the only two options. I’d posit that the nerfs were done to slow people’s gold-to-gem conversion, not to combat inflation. But even if they were, there’s a lot more that could be done than just A or B.
I wasn’t pretending, tyvfm. Next time you post maybe you could share your other brilliant ideas with the rest of us, the lowly ignorant masses that we are.
So i would appreciate a “Fixed a various megaserver issues” (or better yet : "Removed Megaserver from # of areas and main cities / LA due to overpopulation) on your next Tuesday’s update. Thank you.
Really don’t see that happening until July 1st, at the earliest. Why they don’t communicate on what their working on and about when it can be expected, I don’t know. For whatever reason they feel silence is preferable over communication.
Its not enough for me though. I barely log in anymore.
Suggestion: post your suggestions on Megaservers on the Megaserver feedback thread.
Creating your own is short lived and doesn’t make it any more or less valid.
Nope. For the average player, maybe. But GW2LFG was goin’ strong. CoF P1 farming, along with some of the other paths was pretty profitable for players willing to put in a little extra effort. I was actually able to buy gems with gold more often than I can now. Typically bought lots more at a time too. Most of what I achieved during my year in this game was through dungeon running.
Makes me a little sad for new players who want to earn everything in-game. That approach is much less feasible now.
+1
Makes me sad too.
@Grok Krog. It’s great that you do so well on your guardian. However my warrior gets it done in the same amount of time, when I’m trying for time (as many times I’ll farm as I’m doing other things).
I think its safe to say that Guardian, Warrior, Ele, and Ranger are popular options – but each individual should experiment to see which is best/fastest for them.
Yes, I agree the Gem shop is a good gold sink. However its primarily the ONLY gold sink and that is the problem. There are people that aren’t hardcore farmers that can’t afford items in the Gem shop with gold, so they use their credit instead. That’s not taking gold out of the game, is it?
If they released some options to buy new armor/weapons in game, with gold, I think it would help.
The the thing the gem system is the best gold sink in the game its the only one you need. In a way we need more in game items or more things in game to buy with gold to bring up the demand for gold.
So yes a type of gold sink but on the lines of use gold for something else say npc food or other consumables much like what we saw during LA invasion where you could buy 1hr 30 min “food things” (cant think of the names) for a high cost but its worth it if you got more then one person to go in on it with you. So paying for an event to pop also dose this too much like we have now in the feasible.
The Gold to Gem conversion is not the only gold sink we need. If that were the case then we wouldn’t have any problems now. However the gold sinks are a must. I would say new weapons, new armor, maybe consumables like you suggest, anything new that people would throw in-game gold at.
However not everything has been hit by inflation either, which means not enough gold has been dropping out of the market. Cultural armor, commander tags, crafting mats from vendors, … they’ve all stayed exactly the same since game launch. In a true market they wouldn’t have been immune to inflation.
So when the game first came out gold was in high demand so it was very cheep to buy gems with gold now as time went on gold is a great deal more easy to get or there is just simply a lot more in the system so now gems are worth more.
That right there is the solution. We need to make gold harder to farm, harder to gain. We need more gold sinks.
A lot of people in this thread seem to be (willingly) missing the point. Or perhaps I am. TC isn’t complaining that the game has been made more difficult, he’s complaining that earning gold – and by extension, the ability to purchase items – has been made more difficult.
It’s not like these changes have been made so that the skilled among us must accomplish X, Y, and Z to earn the cool new armor just added to the game, because new armor and weapons are rarely added to the game as rewards. Instead they’re slapped in the gem shop to be obtained with cash or gold. And changes have been made to make it harder to earn gold. Ergo it’s harder to get new items without the game actually being more difficult.
This thread isn’t about the game difficulty, it’s about “wallet fishing”.
Its becoming increasingly difficult to buy items because of constant inflation. With gold flooding the market, the value of that gold lowers, making items more expensive over time. It is not the gem store that has done this. Its over farming. How is ArenaNet supposed to solve this problem?
Nerf farming/loot or increase farming options/loot gain? Which do you really think is better. If we were to go with the latter option, or even stay current with the same model we have been running with for the last year, just imagine how much items would cost in another 2 years. DUSK may end up costing more than Twilight is today, t6 mats will be 1g+ each, etc etc. It would be an ever increasing nightmare.
The reason some feel pressured into buying gems and converting into gold is also our fault, not ArenaNet’s. We’re so used to getting 10g/h, 15g/h, and so on and so on – We’ve gotten carried away. Now that its slowing down, people are panicking. Let deflation happen.
Inflation is a kitten. Look what its done to us.
This is a horrible idea. Period.
@OP: Adding challenge and difficulty to the game is more than welcome, its desired. I’m not saddened by the loss of a few trains, as not all trains are gone. Nor am I disappointed at speed-running dungeons becoming a little less speedy. Farming has, whether you believe it or not, gotten out of hand over the last year. The inflation on everything is killing the market. If you can’t see how making 15g/hour is a bad thing, then nobody will ever be able to convince you otherwise.
Why do we farm anyways? I mean think about it. Aren’t we all just farming to increase our personal stockpiles of gold, materials, and precious items for when the game does actually become a good game again? Isn’t new content and increased difficulty something we should welcome with open arms? Otherwise I ask what the point of collecting and farming is…. Beyond just a hamster wheel.
I’m not a fan of the “berserker meta”. However restricting people’s choice to be zerker or not doesn’t seem like the best way to create more “build diversity”.
That was a lie and players have a right to complain about being forced to craft and grind for said gear.
Yeah NO. You aren’t, in fact, being forced to craft and/or grind. Again it is something you and other players have chosen to do. Its oh so very easy to blame, or in this case complain, when you shake off the responsibility of your own stress and try putting it on others because you argue the equivalent of “I have no choice” – Sorry but that doesn’t fly.
I know this is sorta off topic but I had to add it. Its not just personal story where odd encounters are happening, like what has been stated above. Earlier today I was in Brisban and decided to join in on one of those Toxic Offshoot events where you protect the siege engineers. Funny thing was… I never had to defend a kitten thing. Seriously. I sat and watched, even held a one sided conversation with one of the siege engineer NPCs, while we watched the toxic enemies getting their kitten handed to them by jungle wurms.
That’s right, I was cheering for jungle wurms and they beat the event on their own. Jungle wurms make for OP allies? Was pretty pathetic.

Low levels overly extended: Let’s face it, the game truly starts at level 80.
…and that is where you lost me. Sorry but I whole-heartedly disagree.
Once I hit 80 with a toon I know I’ve hit endgame. Which means I’ve hit the content free peak that is GW2, where the majority of us just farm in hopes of having a good stockpile when new content is actually released. That is not a start to a game. Well… not my game.
WvW isn’t really an option for me anymore either as it seems to be dying too.
I have been playing more on my lower, “overly extended”, level toons far more than I have my 80s for a long while now.
I think BLCK farming has already had a serious effect on the sales of keys. Think of it this way, keys come from a specific number of places:
1. map completion
2. personal story 10, 30, 50 (permanent chars)
3. gem store sales.
4. daily chest
5. killing random monsters
6. key farmersWhat percentage of BLCK do you guys think comes from each source? Everyone will make their own predictions, this is my personal prediction.
1. 0.2%
2. 0.2%
3. 0.2%
4. 0.2%
5. 0.2%
6. 99%Please don’t misunderstand me I’m not saying it’s either good or bad that keys come from these sources, but I really believe the vast majority of keys are made by farmers.
I’m sorry but I laughed at this. A lot of keys come from farmers, I’ll give you that much, but to say 99% is laughable. It would have been nerfed for that very reason a VERY long time ago.
I recall watching a video of someone that had somehow amassed tens of thousands of gems (really don’t know how) and with them spent them ALL on keys. It was a sight to see. Granted that was just one video – but it applies. The gem shop is not suffering… as much as some of us wish it was at times. People purchase gems and/or farm gold and convert for keys.
I don’t know. I would think that if key farming became too prevalent and it started seriously impacting some of their sales they might look at ‘adjusting’ it too. A lot more people have been showing an interest in it as of late. How much of an impact that might have on the grander scale or in the long term, there’s no way to really tell.
And you’re right, it hasn’t really changed from its inception, and it’s nothing like the QD train. I wasn’t trying to be negative necessarily, just realistic.
More people, maybe, but “a lot more” I think is stretching it. It may just seem that way to you because of megaservers.
A few of us have already agreed that things could change. But we’re nowhere near that point. It may even be that with a recent boost in key farming curiosity and people trying it out, “a lot more people” may actually be true soon enough, but as I stated before – Key farming takes a lot of dedication of will power, time, and energy in order for someone to see any level “loot” that makes the key farm worth the effort. The majority of people trying it out will be discouraged and stop to go farm elsewhere. The hardcore key farmers will keep on trekking.

Thanks in advance for getting key rewards out of personal story nerfed, guys. :\
Honestly, get a hold of yourself. ArenaNet has been aware of key farming since launch. This is nothing new.
True, and even gave the go ahead to farm them.
Dev responses here.Colin stated at Pax a long while back that the QD champ train was fine too… People were just “playing the game” etc etc. Look what happened to that.
So, I’d say take what’s said with a grain of salt and realize that their stance could change at any time.
A disciple of Murphy’s Law, I see.
While I REALLY don’t want this thread turning into a discussion of the QD train, I feel I must respond to this. Key farming has remained exactly the same since launch. It crosses in and out of 2 zones (Queensdale and DR), with multiple instances along the way. It is not zerg content. It has no damaging effect on new players learning core game mechanics in starter zones, and yes that was why ArenaNet used the “nerf hammer” on that train – whether you believe that or not is irrelevant.
That being said nothing is set in stone. Nothing. If lets say, a long line of players can constantly be seen 24/7 running along the same path that key-farmers tend to run, then maybe something will be done. But we are not at that point. Nor do I believe we ever will be as key farming is the most monotonous activity in Guild Wars 2. The time and energy for the rewards gained are … discouraging.

I’m running out of colourful ways to say no to every mount thread there is…
Then please for the love of all that is good, stop bumping it and giving it more attention than it deserves.
You guys are all missing the point.
No, I don’t think we are.
Its not just reflect that is at the heart of this issue. That issue being that many skills and combat mechanics are being thrown aside in favor of the Megazerg spamfest, DPS system.
. Perhaps finding another use would be better than outright removing it.
Or perhaps…
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
because if 5 people are going to key farm.. why not do it together?
With a partner that knows what he/she is doing, it can be faster, like placing eachother in key spots where we as a team can quickly move on to the next stage or talk to the next npc that much quicker. But from my experience a pug, especially if it were more than one, would just slow down my time.
There is a mount thread that keeps getting filled by wonderful ideas, please add this to that and delete this.
+1
Forum thread Quality > Forum thread Quantity
The desire for mounts just becomes increasingly silly when pro-mount individuals keep creating new threads instead of making one good and well reasoned thread. My two cents.
1) Daily and Monthly achievements

Sorry, that’s all that came to mind.
If we want to see substantial content added to the game, it would need to be part of Anet’s revenue stream in some way. But it isnt. Anet doesn’t need to really go out of their way to add content. They get money by sitting around and letting players convert gems to gold. How does cash -> gem -> gold incentivise Anet to produce an expansion pack?
Without new content players start to leave the game.
An expansion would come years later, ArenaNet pace, to bring back those players that left and new players that see it on shelves.
@lordkrall
Understood. But when you really think about it, is it really so silly? When you get right down to it – its nothing more than a first impression. Not the best way to judge things but it doesn’t stop us even to this day.
Just because one company fails with something doesn’t mean every other company will.
True. Doesn’t mean its a good idea for every game though. Doesn’t mean its a good idea for GW2.
Even if converting more gems in to gold is good for the gold/gem market, it still stinks of greed. It still requires people to pay real money to make more gems. Advertising it just looks like a cheap, desperate cash grab.
Just so you are aware, ArenaNet is not a not for profit entity. They need players to pay real money in order to operate their business and provide profits for their shareholders.
Hope that cleared things up for you.
That is true, they do need players to pay in order for them to operate. However they ARE getting money from game sales and from gem shop purchaces. You can’t convince me that their earnings are low.
- “Some projectiles at Jungle Wurm no longer reflectable.”
You have to know this was going to happen.
Though I admit it is frustrating that mostly everything outside of straight up DPS is being nerfed against bosses.
the zergs are now so big, by the time I get to the group-event or world-boss, 50% of the time it’s already over and done.
Yes, they need to improve scaling AND make world bosses more difficult in general. They should be zerg busting level bosses.
But its not just poor scaling. Having 70+ people standing in close proximity all pressing 1 and winning is… Disgusting. Granted this is a MMORPG. But the RPG portion of the game seems to be overcome by the Clusterkitten that is Megaservers.
I’ve been logging in less and less. Nor am I a regular attendee to guild/server events that I used to be proud of before the 4/15 Feature Pack.
-Is it really adding to your overall experience?
Yes. The buffs of my desired nourishment(s) round out my build. Runes + sigils + weapon choice + traits + weapon/armor stats + trinkets + nourishment + combat style + skill level = Who I am as a player.
-Does it make things too easy?
What is easy and hard are relative to each person. Personally I don’t feel nourishment, by itself, makes things too easy. I can and do get my kitten handed to me when I have F&N active. F&N is not “god mode” in GW2. The advantages given are no different than say… someone wearing Ascended gear rather than Exotic, or Exotic over Rare.
Where do we draw the line where one advantage is too great and another is just fine? Lets say nourishment gets removed, what then replaces it in your eyes as making things too easy or unfair? Traits? Legendary weapon stats?
-Do I always use it? Why?
No. Because many times I find myself caught without any. The only characters I consistently use them on, without fail, are my low level alts that I’m leveling.
-Do I usually win 1v1 fights against those who don’t use it?
Honestly don’t know. I don’t keep track of what WvW opponents are or aren’t using, or if they even are using any nourishment. I can tell you that I win and lose in WvW 1v1 without nourishment. Can easily say that most times you catch me using nourishment in WvW its because I’m running with a zerg, not roaming, and someone had placed a tray down.
-Do I craft my own for fun? Or just buy it off the TP?
Both.
-Do I offer it to other people when I see them without it? Why?
Guildmates and friends, yes. Why? Because buffing those around me is in my nature. I enjoy running support as often as I can.
I am against this suggestion.
Nourishment is one way we can further customize our characters to our liking. If anything we need more customization options, not less.
With that being said – I want you to know that I agree on one thing. We do need more difficult content. But removing buffs here or there isn’t the way to go about it.
It’s no coincidence that pretty much every gold-making farm in the game has been nerfed.
I’ve gone from making 15g/h to nothing.
One could say if you’re making “nothing”, 0g/h, then you’ve given up. Taking a hit in the amount of gold you get an hour isn’t the end of the world. I imagine if I made that much gold regularly I may feel differently about this – but a 15g/h farm sounds like it needs a nerf.
An excess of gold in the market is damaging. Inflation is a kitten.
I would like to suggest Anet use the system they had in place for submitting beta feedback to give us some sort of poll to vote on each month.
DUDE. This would NEVER work. Players are PLAYERS, not game designers.
Imagine if we had a poll asking, “Would you like to receive 1.000 gold RIGHT NOW?”. How many players would say “YES”? And would it really improve the game’s ECONOMY to have that much gold suddenly added out of nowhere?
Congratulations. That is by far one of the most special posts I’ve read in a long time. Very short bus kind of special.
Good suggestion. Would largely depend on two things.
- ArenaNet giving the development of OP’s suggested In-game Poll priority.
- ArenaNet actually caring what its playerbase likes and dislikes.
Great letter, OP.
Also agree with Prophet – it would have been much better than Scarlet.
OP has been posting for months on the forums with nothing but negativity.
Ah, then I take back my sympathy.
How do we chose quieter worlds?
Choose? sigh You people want everything! [/sarcasm]
Right now, there is no point or purpose AT ALL for having a home world, except for WvWvW. And that could be handled a much better way (guild alliances).
I view WvW and home worlds as being nothing more than chosen sports teams, at this point. They carry no more weight than that. In fact I’d say that may be giving them more credit as sports teams usually have a large fan base and people that actually care how well their teams do. The people that still claim to care about WvW status are the same ones that choose to try one week and throw a match the next.
Haha, I can’t argue with you there. My only concern is if I leave this part of the game alone and then have to return to it later, i.e., they add another use for luck. I don’t want to make the mistake of either using luck and being unable to use it or just plain getting rid of it.
I think I’m going to just use them from now on though, I’m sure that ANet will reimburse me if they add another use for Luck.
Don’t know if they would reimburse you or not. Its not like ArenaNet hasn’t made decisions that have angered a player base before. However I must say that eventually, as more and more people reach the cap as you have, they would be forced to either raise the cap or give Essences other uses.
Aawwww…. is someone still QQing over the Queensdale champ train?
This is a troll thread at best, and an attempt at inciting inflammatory, toxic bickering at worst. Legitimate requests for refund should be directed at support, not the forums. Please close this.
May or may not be a troll thread. The Manifesto no longer applies and is therefor misleading as to what the game actually is in its current state. One would think they would remove it and many of the other videos to avoid any problems like this from happening again… and again. Its sad but GW2 isn’t the game advertised in their Manifesto anymore. As more people seem to like what was laid out in that video than what we have, perhaps that’s why they keep it. It still sells them?
I do agree that this isn’t the place for a legitimate refund request. Good luck with that though.
