Jerus, I understand your position. I do. But as I said in my last post, unicorngirl is not the only one that has come to these forums with complaints concerning this very issue. I’m not just taking one person’s side in this.

I’m glad your guild in particular has some standards… but not all groups/guilds do apparently.

If you infuse one of the rings, you can wear them both then.

^^^^^ This.

Also the description does say “Unique” which would essentially imply that you can’t wear multiples, however, that isn’t explained anywhere, so I could see how someone wouldn’t notice that or if they did not really know what it means.

But there’s a work-around like TheDaiBish said, so no worries OP.

The “work-around” you speak of only works if you know about it beforehand. I’ll say that I did not and infused both rings, both the same defensive ring, and THEN learned what “unique” meant in GW2. It was a painful learning experience. One that could have been easily avoided.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is giving a good reason for NOT adding a more clear warning on unique trinkets.

Well then that’s a pickle. Personally I wondered why there were two rings with the exact same stats and asked it in /map, got the unique item explanation and made sure to not buy two of the same.

I’m not defending the term Unique, I agree it should be clearer, you aren’t the first person to post this same exact issue.

Yes, I know. Thankfully I was lucky enough that CS fixed the issue for me rather quickly. However they could avoid issues like this from happening in the future by fixing the problem now, before people fall into the same situation.

I’m just sick of the people on this thread that are only here because they enjoy calling other people “stupid” or “lacking common sense”.

Ends justifying means implies that you’re doing something unethical for the greater good. Hiding isn’t unethical.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. It is still an underhanded method of removing those that don’t “measure up” out of an instance. Though you mention it as being the only method you use, which may be true, it is not true in all cases. I’ve heard from unicorngirl on this thread and others on similar threads describing mistreatment at the hands of groups/guilds that do believe in ‘By Any Means Necessary’.

  • Hiding
  • Reporting
  • Verbal Abuse

I understand that it is frustrating when people don’t listen. Or people that may even be intentionally trolling a group that is trying to organize an event like CP – yet we somehow have to make it work. You and yours have found ways of doing that…. but lets not lie to ourselves that they are good methods.

It’s not in any way ends justifying means, it’s simply people organizing a map and doing what they feel is necessary to keep the map organized.

I’m not sure what your problem is.

If you’d been reading this thread, particularly the last few posts above yours, you would understand what the “problem” is. You’re wearing two of the same ring because one is infused and one is not.

Do you want congratulations for that?

I don’t see where an argument is popping up here. Why can’t we all just agree that putting a little more information or warning on “unique” ascended trinkets is a good idea?

Instead we have people coming on this thread just to say “you should have known better”. How very constructive.

Mostly because if people fail to read the section in the item description regarding RESTRICTIONS when it simply says “unique,” they are just as likely to fail to read an expanded information line.

You have to know that is BS.

I was a victim of this myself. I saw “unique” but was totally unaware that a character could only equip one, though could buy two. Just because you and others understood it, doesn’t mean everyone does – as this thread shows.

Again having ArenaNet put a more clear warning on these items does not negatively effect you or others. Its not taking anything away from the game. Its just adding clarification to an item. You and others are just finding enjoyment from kittening at people on this thread…. for what?

Because “griefer” isn’t always black and white. They are in the eye of the beholder, so to speak. If there were a function to report for this you would see Anet flooded with reports on people – most of which did nothing wrong other than to annoy the wrong person or people.

  • High likelihood of abuse

Map Joining is Horrible.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

It really seems as though ANet has done everything they can to make sure people can’t play with who they want to play with.

That seems to be an unfair statement.

You have to understand that with a map filled with 75+ people – Each player has a list of friends, party members, server-mates, and guild-mates that either want to get in or the system feels as though they should be together. So out of those 75+ people who gets priority treatment before the map gets capped? You? Why?

Having a queue system alone is not the only fix needed here. I personally don’t want to just sit around waiting on a queue. Would prefer a district system.

D1 – Home server
D2 – Megaserver 1 (map population is XX%)
D3 – Megaserver 2 (map population is XX%)
D4 – Megaserver 3 (map population is XX%)

-Idea courtesy of Revler

Also this thread has a chance of being locked and or merged with the main feedback thread.

Megaservers leading into a smaller map event, the last two major changes have lead to some headaches.

And you assume I just mean CP. I’m talking anything you want to do with a guild. From Guild Missions to Teq, getting a whole guild into one map is a nightmare. Guild missions use to take an hour, now it’s like 2-3 because we have to play the taxi map hopping game between each thing.

The general PUG or open organized CP runs would be fixed with a queue, and that would be nice. But that wouldn’t fix the issues I’m more focused on, and htat’s getting guilds onto the same map. I realize the name GuildWars is based more on the lore, but really you’d think that a game with that name especially would be more friendly towards their guilds.

They did do one good thing and let people spawn Teq off hours, that was nice, but ugh…

You don’t think that it would be possible to get a guild on a map without the taxi nightmare now if we were able to choose a home server district or a low pop megaserver district?

How was my comment “silly nonsense”? If you join TS acting like nothing but a juvenile delinquent and a kitten – then the whole “Be yourself” argument will only get you so far. There are, whether you seem to believe it or not, people in TS that do have standards of conversation. I’ve seen people kicked from TS for misconduct.

But apparently my comment was nothing but “silly nonsense” – Where your comments about how to behave depending on the person’s gender is not nonsense?

If your weapons/armor were all made account-bound then you could just go around transmutation costs by continually trading them from one character to another.

Chances of a new race on July 1st?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

No because that would require actual expansion content.
A new race would mean:
*New personal story up to lvl 30.
*New capital
*New starter zone
*New cultural armor/weapons
*New racial skills

Yea I don’t see this happening on july 1st.

Its also something that would be smarter to release in a hard expansion because people that have stopped playing GW2 and people that never have would then see it. Introducing something like that through LS alone just seems like a bad judgment call to me.

Introduce content via LS = Current players are happy
Introduce content via hard expansion = Current players are happy, new players jump in, and older players may return

New massive gold sink?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I concur. They are very significant to me. Of course, I don’t get a chest with 3 gold every day from a DE I might do, or cow I escort to town, so I don’t know what it’s like to have this excess of money.

Waypoint costs are about 2s-5s for a level 80 character, correct? Port to any zone and do what you came to do. Afterwards, even if you only got trash items, you have made up for and passed the cost of waypointing to that zone. Unless you’re just porting across Tyria without actually doing anything…

Waypoint costs ARE insignificant. Its a gold sink. As another poster just recently stated – What other gold sinks do we really have?

End-Game Content (Time Gap)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Its been “filler recycled content” basically uninteresting, hence the reason for massive player decline due to other games being released. I’ve been an avid player since pre-launch and the last 3.5 to 4months there has been easily a 35-40% decline in players.

Source for this info? because according to anet they are ridding the prosperity wave right now with an incredible player base after only being out for one year.

ArenaNet would never admit to a rapidly declining playerbase, whether it be true or false wouldn’t matter. Its not really something a company would want to be known. At this moment, yes, I’m sure their playerbase has increased. Why? China.

But from my experience in game. Looking at all of my guild rosters, friend/follower lists, and talking with others about their own observations – it is pretty clear that people have been dropping off.

Put repair costs back. Make it free to move within a zone (like in a city).

Granted I’m all for repair costs but I think that is a topic for a different thread.

As for waypoint costs being free inside of a zone, like LA, I don’t understand where that is coming from on this thread. If you port to WPA but get redirected to WPB or WPC, you won’t be able to port again to WPA unless it becomes uncontested while you’re on your way over to it.

Frankly, I don’t want anything more to be made free. We have an excess of gold as it is – gold sinks are welcome (real or imagined). If you don’t want to pay for waypointing, then feel free to run.

Still waiting for end game content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I think the game could benefit from more “high end” dungeons (e.g. Arah, stuff hard enough to cause people to pay for runs), dungeons with larger team size, and PvP content, the things that I consider “end game” content.

Five is a holy number in dungeons for some reason, don’t ask me why.

Yes, in GW2 the cap is 5 in dungeons. But lets not forget that the cap in Guild Wars was 8, in most cases, until we had the option of a team of 12 for The Deep. Perhaps there will eventually be content that does something similar.

New massive gold sink?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Let me correct this for you.
Your doing the Boss train, traveling around.
WP A was a lie so WP B, also contested, is a lie and you end up at WP C.
There is no way you can get back to WP A where the event is before the Boss melts away to the Zerg.

You lost the cost of traveling.
You lost the reward from the event.
Did you die trying to get there? (Megedestroyer comes to mind)
Travel cost again to repair.
Did it make you late again? Lost reward.

Apply the concept to what players actually do and this thread wont seem so funny.

If you are not able to get to the event after the patch, then you also would not be able to get to the event before the patch.

So no, you didn’t correct me, you further showed that you don’t understand what is happening pre versus post patch.

Before the patch, WP A & B were ALWAYS shown as contested meaning you ALWAYS had to go to WP C and then either run or pay an extra WP fee to get to WP A.

After the patch, WP A & B will NEVER show as contested, meaning you will go to WP A, B, or C depending on the contested status of the WPs at the time you decide to use them.

In absolutely no case will the new system be worse than the pre patch system, it can only be better (A. or B.) or the same (C.).

Too right. But there are drama queens that are blowing this up into something it isn’t.

Meh, the only thing is that in the current economy the tag should be worth at least 400g, not mere 100… A year ago only the most dedicated players were willing to spend such a huge amount of cash on a blue dorito. Now it’s a few days of farming tops.

I like the ever-present blue tags. They help me avoid the megaserver zergs. And free up the maps a bit, compressing the populace in a few spots. Gives others some breathing space.
