This is just another, often repeated, QQ thread. “RNG isn’t fair!” — Yeah well life isn’t fair either. Yet somehow we manage to truck on…. with varying degrees of disgruntlement.
But do we want a game that’s like real life? Do we not play games as a diversion from the travails of our workaday existence?
True. Escapism is a large part of gaming. Yet, imo, there should always be a foundation of realism in the best of games. I’ve yet to hear a good suggestion on a new and improved system to this problem, if it is even a problem at all. The alternatives would come with their own set of issues and we would then be faced with an all new set of rage threads.
Imagine for a moment if we all got whatever items we wanted?
If we were all rich? If no items held any level of rarity? Take a moment to envision GW2 like that. If everyone is rich then nobody is. If no item is rare then all items become worthless.
Now with that picture in mind — Do you truly believe players would stay in the game for very long? I don’t think they would.
Notice also that we don’t really see people raging for their fellow players all deserving Eternity. We don’t see players stating that everyone else should get whatever they want. Posts in these threads are primarily self-centered. “I’ve done this activity so many times and/or I’ve played the game this long and I still don’t have this item that I really want… While that dude there got it! Not fair! Not fair! Not fair!”
Is RNG a perfect system? No. But its good enough for me, flaws and all, until a better system is presented that won’t break the game.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
Would be nice if they created a split system — Where there are parties like we see now and then there are parties with a designated party leader, in which all members that join the latter party are given a warning that they have no voting rights within that group.
Perhaps that would solve many of these issues?
The Ritualist. (Completely unadulterated.)
@azhure-because I set it up wrong…..was there anything PERTINENT you wanted to add?
And actually I’m getting some very informed answers even though there wasn’t really a question per se-but thanks for posting…..
Anything PERTINENT? Not particularly. This is just another, often repeated, QQ thread. “RNG isn’t fair!” — Yeah well life isn’t fair either. Yet somehow we manage to truck on…. with varying degrees of disgruntlement.
How is this a Q&A thread?
A commander leading a world boss train wasn’t any better than you think the current system is.
There were and still are great commanders that people flock to daily for a great WBT experience. Supported by a team of scouts, preppers, and anchors — It is a much more enjoyable experience than following the Megazerg WBT and its also much more profitable.
So please don’t say that it wasn’t any better — because it was. I’m just going to chalk it up to you being inexperienced in the matter… which is unfortunate for you.
I think its safe to say that no game, past and present, has “only two mistakes”. Especially if we’re to go by individual perceptions of what is right or wrong within any given game.
Actually there was a “Suggested Merchandise” thread Gaile was running for a while. I think the sticking point is leeriness about licensing issues.
I’ve just been googling my heart out looking for that thread and can’t find it. I remember suggesting the tshirts from the old Facebook poll, keychains, cell phone covers, jewelery, and the like.
I’m sure there would be hurdles to jump and pains to be had for ArenaNet if they decided to do this… but they can’t possibly outweigh the benefits of their customers not only throwing money in their direction but also walking around and marketing their game for them. Am I wrong?
On an unrelated topic, could I turn my Mini Queen Jennah’s into gold?
Nice. * giggles * We’d damage the market from everyone selling all their excess Jennah minis.
“Needing” to log in everyday burns people out and make it feel like a job instead of playing.
Changing dailies to monthlies paces the game better.
I’m glad you quoted “needing”, as it is clear at no point is there a need for doing dailies unless you want AP. And if you are an AP hunter, then GW2 will certainly feel like a job. But that’s self-imposed. I spent about an hour yesterday finishing up Ettin slayer and Ogre slayer. Did it feel like a job? You bet! But I wanted that AP, so I sucked it up and dealt with it.
Good man.
you could always make bloodstone bricks, dragonite ingots, and empyreal stars. Each one uses 2 obbi shards. That will cut down on what you have and these might have another use in the future.
That’s what I do. It’s why I actually have very few shards at any given time. >_>
But something tells me the OP isn’t necessarily interested in recipes and/or refinement. I think he/she desires even more straight Gold per hour for their Silverwastes efforts. I could very well be wrong in that assumption — but I don’t think I am.
Try contacting support and filing a ticket. They may or may not be able to help you.
I would support more recipes that require Obsidian Shards before I would support the OP’s suggestion. Please keep in mind that not everyone is rolling in a surplus of Obsidian Shards, I would say that not even the majority is in such a situation. The only people I can see this happening to are the heavy K-trainers and the dedicated Silverwaste farmers.
Same.
I wish there was more GW2 clothing just so I can rock the game I like so much. You see WoW players with their hoodies and “For the horde!” shirts all the time afterall. D;
Agreed.
I’m surprised they’re not already available — but I suppose it is one of the few markets ArenaNet has no interest in making money from.
“Needing” to log in everyday burns people out and make it feel like a job instead of playing.

No, thank you, the system is fine as it is now.
Your problem is that you feel its “needed” to log in daily. It really isn’t, no matter how much you or others may say that it is.
Flail.
But as no new weapons were announced for HoT and I imagine such a thing as new weapons would be held in reserve for an expansion…. you’ll just have to hope and wait for another 3+ years for the next expansion. Yay…
I don’t really get the complaint. There is a mechanic in place for you to start these boss fights as you see fit, you just need to setup your guild to do so. Lots of people farm a personal guild for storage, find a group and set one up so you spawn world bosses.
Your problem is you want the mechanic in place to be free.
It’s only in place for the 3 bosses I cannot do with 2-20, namely Teq, 3H-Worm, Karka
http://wiki-de.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gilden-Welt-EventI want this for all the others (Golem, Behe, Swanir Shamane, ….) as well, preferably available to all players (maybe for a small silver-feee), not only to guild officials of large guilds.
But I see. No one likes it (at least no one likes it enough to respond positively).
Before Mega-Server world bosses (outside prime) were fun. You had to do something for your reward.
But since Mega-server? World-bosses degenerated to be just:
- Ignore the pre, some will do it for you.
- build a group, to get loot in case you die before you managed to press 1
- press 1 once,
- die or not, doesn’t matter,
- cross-finger you do not get a DC
- collect loot
- jump to next boss, WP postet in chat.
This should be stopped! But in fact I don’t care, I am just asking for an alternative to escape this stupidity.
Why are you against it? What do you fear? Do you fear that you fail with this procedure, if all that like it a bit more demanding will do it on their own? Not unlikely when no one will do the Pre for you anymore
Unfortunately the needs of good old fashioned “spawn campers” currently outweighs the demand for improvement in this area of the game. Its a sad and pathetic state — in which the thought of actively PLAYING GW2 is to be considered too onerous. On the reverse side… keeping content that requires no effort beyond waypointing to the next location and tagging another target after an allotted time is to be protected against assault from people such as yourself.
Personally I desire the absolute destruction of the World Boss Schedule, except the Legendary tier of World bosses. To be taken back to a day where the world boss events were truly dynamic events and people pushed them along as such. Before the days of the Megazerg, #1 autotagging, and the total indifference towards helping your fellow players.
I enjoy the differences between the genders. Personally I feel it would be a sad day if I could only really determine a Charr’s gender by their tail alone. Granted, that is how many players identify them…. But as almost all of my characters are female charr, I’ve come to recognize male and female by their horns, faces, and hair just as easily.
You choose to view this as a limitation.
I see it as specialty customizations for each gender.
While I’ll never play a male character, and therefor will most likely not have access to their specific customization options, I can still admire them when I see other players running by.
Since all new players are to be treated as if they don’t have full control of…. well… any faculties -AND- they couldn’t be bothered with making GW2 arm floaties for the gemstore — We get this instead.
1st – A stone to make an Account Bound/Soulbound Weapon back to it’s initial state (to be able and sell Legendaries / Ascended after you used it and just don’t want anymore)
So all the titles and/or achievements associated with obtaining said items will mean nothing AND the legendary market will crash.
Sure. Totally worth it. >_>
Out of curiosity….
What is giving some of you the impression that GW2 is not bringing in the $$$ with its current business model?
Because I just don’t see it.
Nor do I understand the longing for a subscription system in its place.
…I’m fundamentally opposed to paying a monthly subscription. I haven’t yet, very much doubt I ever will.
^ This.
Not quite. None of the new black lion weapon sets have under water parts. They removed the only PVP map with water and theyve also said that HOT wont have anything to do with any underwater combat. It does seem to be that way.
Just because you don’t have a sparkly new aquatic weapon skin or that ArenaNet has decided not to add deep water in the upcoming Maguuma maps does not mean that they are “removing underwater content from the game”. Saying so is just a sad attempt at rumor-mongering and nothing more.
So to put it simply:
Not adding new underwater content =/= Removing underwater combat from the game.
Thank you and have a nice day.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
Considering they’re practically removing underwater content from the game,…
^ Falsehood.
…I don’t think Largos playables are going to happen.
^ Opinion.
My advice:
You know what you like in MMORPGs more than any of us would. Locate the activities that fit your playstyle and have fun with them. PvE? PvP? WvW? Dungeons? AP farming? Skin collecting? Whatever it may be — Happy gaming.
EDIT: The New Player Experience (aka NPE) may irritate a veteran gamer such as yourself. Just know that the pain is only temporary.

A playable violin.
+1
I’d want it just so I could pull it out and play whenever people start QQing in chat. Yes…. Yes, I would do that.
The problem is that I’m comparing GW2 to 2013 GW2.
Oh…. Those were the good days. * nostalgic moment of silence *
I understand the appeal…. but no thanks. As players wouldn’t be able to play across the two platforms, and would instead be separated into two large groups with no contact, I’m totally against any potential split on this level.
my point wasn’t to make gw2 exclusive for consoles.
That would make no sense since i said in the post that it would be nice for them to make it free for users that already own the game, just giving them a different platform to play on instead of pc, not dividing its community.I did mention i want to play again with my guildmates again, what you said just sounds as if you didn’t read what I said.
Just because I don’t support your idea doesn’t mean I didn’t read what you posted.
You don’t seem to understand they would never allow it to be cross platform like you envision. Having PC gamers, who play using a keyboard and mouse, share the same servers with console gamers is just…. not going to happen. Perhaps it would not be an issue if this game were strictly PvE, but its not. Players in one platform can not be given any special advantage or disadvantage over another player in WvW/PvP just because they’re platform has a better/easier control system.
You have to know that one would be better than the other.
Slap on a condition that they only work underwater. Or maybe get advantages underwater.
….Do you even know what game you’re playing that you would suggest such a thing? I don’t think you do.
Not sure how GW2 would do if they made such a drastic change. They’d be shooting themselves in the foot, as many people are drawn to GW2 because it is subscription free, but maybe they could survive despite the backlash?
Regardless…
That would be one move I could not tolerate. I’d uninstall as soon as they made the announcement — as the subscription free aspect of the game is paramount to me.
I understand the appeal…. but no thanks. As players wouldn’t be able to play across the two platforms, and would instead be separated into two large groups with no contact, I’m totally against any potential split on this level.
Maw takes effort? How cute is that….
Ranger companions, Mesmer phantasms, Necromancer minions, Guardian spirit weapons, Elemental summons, …..
Is it not expected that they’re supposed to be a minor buffer against damage, even if only in a miniscule capacity when being targeted? I don’t understand the reasoning of destroying that just because you’re annoyed that your ‘Nearest Target’ didn’t actually target the player you wanted.
Give people an inch and they’ll take a mile.
Kitten….. I missed the memo.
Is PvE broken? Well I suppose that could be a matter of opinion. Personally I would say that it is indeed broken. But alas the game continues to be played by the masses — much like a dog that plays with a busted water bottle… Its not a toy… Its not whole… but some kicks are still to be had, apparently, before its thrown out.
The Mounts [Merged] Thread is that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mounts-merged/page/14
Thank you and good day.
EVERYTHING is taken.
False.
Outfits are selling, regardless of any opposition to their continued creation. That is why they will continue to invest time in designing even more.
@ OP — The name is inappropriate and is clearly against the rules. I’m sure you know this, you just don’t like accepting it.
@ Everyone else responding in this thread — Please be careful that you don’t break rules yourselves when posting. Just scrolling through I can say there may be infractions slapped down on a lot of you.
@ Moderators — Please close this thread.
They would have to make another entire race worth of armor. Why do i say that? because they have to refit all the armor onto the GW1 charr bodies(Even if they just copy paste. they have to rescale all the existing stuff), and that id say is the big killer.
Don’t think the armor would be an issue here. My charr guardian stands upright quite frequently, like when she is casting Empowerment. The armor appears fine even when the charr is stretching to a full upright stance.
The problem is that it looks so unnatural when she does it that its almost painful to watch. Players want that posture on their charrs 24/7? Their anatomy isn’t built for it.
Its like me attempting to train a dog to walk on its hind legs only for the rest of his/her days because someone thinks its cute or cool. Completely disregarding everything that says its impossible — Why? “Just because.”
I’m sure the caster classes in GW1 got their thrills when standing over their subjects… but at the end of the day they were hunched again — and crying in pain.
Almost all of my characters are Charr. I enjoy playing as that race, truly.
With that said….
I don’t understand why a Charr character should be sexually appealing to a human player. Showing more fur while maintaining a battle ready appearance? Sure. But sexually? That’s disturbing.
- Adjust chat filters
- Report when appropriate
- Block
I like the charr posture just the way it is, as I understand why they made them hunched.
I don’t think many people really understand the idea of April Fools’ Day. Maybe they’ve never played pranks before? Or maybe they’ve only had them played on them and they’re bitter?
April Fool’s pranks are normally very short in duration, not a forced 24 hours. I would imagine anyone that dared to prank someone for a full day would have a lot of heat coming their way as a result. So why is it so surprising that ArenaNet is getting similar heat now?
If you are unhappy about today’s “prank”, then make your complaints here.
If you are happy about today’s “prank”, then please thank ArenaNet here and then go back and enjoy your game. The prank will end tonight. Don’t waste your time beating on other people because they have differing opinions on this topic.
I’m rather disappointed with April Fool’s pranks so far in GW2. My favorites from years past were the Sex Change (2007), Mini/Max (2010), and Commando (2011).
If I could make one suggestion for ArenaNet, it would be to make any In-Game prank come with a toggle option to deactivate it. There are pranks like last year, with the bobbleheads that made some people sick. There are other pranks that people consider to be terribly insensitive. Then there are other pranks that while amusing for a time become incredibly tiresome after the first 5 minutes. Being able to turn it off if desired would be a good change from…
- Enjoy this prank,
- Suffer through this prank, or
- GTFO the game.
Just my two cents.
I’m not a major supporter of outfits, though I do have a couple, but I would really like a nice one that is designed for the charr first. What do I mean by this? Well many, if not all, outfits are designed on a human model first and then adapted to fit the other races. Unfortunately this leaves a LOT to be desired for other races… particularly charr.
Would it be too much to ask if for once they reversed that level of care and showed the charr form some respect? If they did and then adapted it onto the other races, I think it could still look great regardless. (Minus kitten where a tail should be, right? )
If its not a giant clipping issue then its a charr wrapped up in a dress — two things I just can’t stand.
So if any ArenaNet designer is listening — I’d pay for an outfit that was made primarily for Charr first, other races second. Doubt it’ll happen…. but I can dream.
Yeah, I have about 50 stacks of Dragonite. Anet need to fix their crafting system.
As I’m sure you’re talking about 50 stacks of Dragonite Ore and not the ingots, one would say that you’re not in good standing to tell ArenaNet to fix their crafting system in this particular case…. Since you are not actually crafting or refining any of it. >_> Just saying….
Storing dragonite ore = Hoarding
Options:
- Refine ore into Dragonite Ingots
- Destroy
- Save them for whenever they plan to release a Dragonite eating item like Mawdrey and the Star of Gratitude, but as we don’t know how long that will be — * cough * hoarding * cough *
