Trolls and grievers are not the same thing.

Gaile, might I recommend adding a ‘player grieving’ option in the reporting feature? I could have sworn we already had that option.

Agreed. Trolls and grievers are not the same thing.
However if a Griever Report were introduced… I foresee just as much misuse in it.

Goodness I know I would have many “grieving” reports set against me within the first week just because of one event – an event in which I break from the “traditional” way of doing things and usually get a lot of heat for doing it.

other than Block and Report, My advice, transmute your Armor to kitten armor Skin, dye it Mordrem colors, buy the red glowing Eyes and Roll with it.

You know its funny — I was actually considering something like this. Sylvari have always been my least favorite race but I now find myself with a sudden desire to create one. Something like what you suggested and the new BL weapon skins too? I’m about to sign up for some of that. EMBRACE IT.

As for the “Race Wars 2” — All the races have a dark side. The sylvari just have theirs in the current spot light. * shrugs *

People also blame that heal on death for how he sometimes regenerates to full HP, when in fact that is happening because everyone is attacking him with range from the little lip that he can’t get above near the room entrance. And if neither him, nor any of his minions can reach any player to attack, he’ll reset like any other mob in the game.

Actually it is possible for the Husk to get up there, at least. On the rare chance that he does go up there, have you seen what happens? Most of the snipers just stand there and get wrecked. Its a massive wipe.
(It disgusts me when I see it happen.)

But yes, you’re right, there are some people that can’t tell what a reset is and why its happening.

Long story short, AoE at Copper is fine.

I have reservations about this. The consequences of Zerg mentality can be quite bad. Telling them they have free reign (not that they didn’t before) to AoE at Copper may prove ugly.

The very best Copper I was at had great DPS and condition dmg, all single target, and we were the first to finish a Breach Boss. Got even better when the map finished Breach with 3:04min left on the timer. People have gotten much better at this, from my POV anyway. Telling them to suddenly start using AoE, with or without explanation about the bubbles, could have consequences.

There are 4 things that I’ve noticed that cause or contribute to the most failures at Copper…
1) Copper resets because nobody is holding agro.
2) Too many players laying dead and not porting away. Often staying to give commentary or demand a hard revive.
3) Too much bickering in chat about AoE at Copper. (The constant bickering has caused me to turn map and say chats off a couple times.)
4) Lastly — People using AoE without thought. Popping every last bubble around the Husk.

Personally I would rather stick with “No AoE” or “Single target only” than make a complete U-turn and possibly create more madness at this event. But you all will do what you wish to do. Just stating my concerns on the matter.

But it’s also not a solution to make people do events every single day for a decade or two to accomplish goal they made

Make people do events.. to accomplish a goal they made [for themselves]”

This is the problem. If you’re doing RNG activities for a specific reward, you’re going to be disappointed. Just do the events for whatever reward you get, and the day you do get what you’re looking for will be a great day.

Stop Unisexing Charr and Asura

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It has been no secret that ArenaNet favors the human model the most when making new armor. Sylvari and Norn get similar love because no adjustments need to be made, the models are pretty much the same.

Charr and Asuran though? That requires effort.
Effort that has been deemed not worth it because more players use human characters above any other race in the game.
Is it fair? No.

I wish the Devs change their stance on this and I hope to see the non-humanoid races get more love. But I’m also not going to hold my breath.

I’m sure I’m one of the few that will say this, as the forums are pretty heavily stacked towards individuals that have something to complain about and not support, but I’m glad they fixed this bug.

But what was the reason? it was working for so long time :P I’m just curious, to be honest i made many legendaries cause i knew i will be able to mix aura and now its just gone :P

What is my reason for being happy about this? Well I always found the constant auras and/or aura stacking to be obnoxious. To such a degree that it detracted from my gaming experience. Those with legendaries still have the legendary auras when they have their weapons active. That is not gone. But the excess has been trimmed off a little and for that I am grateful.

There’s always the squad channel that you can use, all you have to do is get people to join you as a commander and then you wont have this problem.

You expect the average zergling to make an actual effort that requires more than spam 1? I’ve been commanding worldbosses for quite some time now and that seems rather excessive :/
Don’t make commanders immune to spam filters but up the limit before filtering messages out and remove the filter from LFG for easier taxiing.

Its adorable that an average zergling listening to commander orders in /map chat is acceptable but asking them to take a couple seconds to go squad is just too much.

I understand the problem, I sympathize even… But I would not wish to give anyone the ability to spam.

only 1 person got the point. So an Engi can throw a grenade further than a rifle can fire? A bow can fire further than a rifle can fire? Like Greyrebel said, it should be called shotgun if they don’t want it to fire far. It’s not really a rifle if it can’t outrange a throw or a bow, is it?

While I normally strive for realism in my MMOs — I unfortunately accept that it was blown out of the water with rainbow and unicorn shooting shortbows. The warrior is already considered a superior class, by many and in different situations, so spreading their capabilities even further doesn’t seem right in my book. Let the engineers and the rangers have the longer range.

They are designed to compel players to purchase more character slots so they can be used. As the tomes pile up in your bank – so to does the urge to use them. Granted there are people that don’t fall for it, those that don’t care to create any more characters. Yet there are many players that do.

Hi. My name is Azhure and I’m an altaholic.
I was doing so well for a long time. Good days where I focused on my main characters and was loving life. Then just last week a bunch of tomes were thrown at me. I was weak. An alt was created that night. My 15th character. The tomes are gone but now I feel the shame and have to pay the price. Traits need to be purchased or hunted down, she has to be equipped in the very best gear, and I need to start her down the path of map completion at some point.

Charged Quartz Crystals

Buy your Sheets of Charged Ambrite if you want it quickly.

Its so easy for you to say that its nothing to veteran players because we “have a lot already”, which isn’t necessarily true, and that it only “hurts” new players. This approach can be taken towards so many things in the game. The demand for immediate satisfaction. It cheapens the efforts for those that have come before you but you don’t really care about that.

As an example:
How would you feel if Luminescent armor skins became available for just a few laurels in a year from now? All the time and effort that so many people put into getting them through the original way the devs designed it to be — reduced to a simple and cheap laurel purchase a year or two later. Perhaps because new players started crying about having to wait and/or work at it.

I’m sure many of you for this change will completely disregard my opinion on this. It still needed to be said.

Work (I.E. farming bandit crests and meta’s) =/= waiting 24 hours for something to click once and hit f. (I.E. charging quartz)…

Time is time. Whether it be spending days, weeks, or months on farming and other activities — or just simply taking a bunch of quartz and charging them on a daily basis. In comparison the Charged Quartz Crystal is so much easier.

@ Carighan – That’s a better idea than just simply removing the time gate itself.

Can someone from the ANET team please comment in this thread about whether or not there will be a precursor ‘scavenger’ hunt or some reasonable method of acquisition besides RNG? It is extremely frustrating to have played countless hours since beta and never had a precursor drop. Please offer some sort of system for veteran players to improve our ‘RNG luck’ for these items. Relying solely on RNG is not fun, and games are supposed to be fun.

There already is a way to get a precursor outside the realm of RNG — Its called the Black Lion Trading Company. It works. Earning a precursor though some long and inane scavenger hunt or crafting discipline would likely take just as long to farm enough gold to buy the thing off the TP.

Inactive players trolls our forum.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

A similar thread that ran its course can be found here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Restrict-forum-access-to-active-accounts/first

I’ve quoted the Red Posts below if you’d just like to read them. They’ve made it clear that they will not restrict forum access to inactive players. So any further discussion there will not change that, I don’t think.

As for “forum trolls” — they exist among the active and inactive crowds. Many are actually trolling and others are just very opinionated. Ignore them, report when necessary, and just move on.

Mark Katzbach:

This is something that we had considered in the past, but opted against because it unfairly works against lapsed players who want to ask what’s changed since they last played and players like Pixelpumpkin who may, for personal reasons, be unable to log into the game, but still want to interact with the forums and stay up to date on the game.

It’s also worth pointing out that some people use claims of quitting the game as an attention-getting tactic, when in fact they are still quite active. Putting in this type of restriction would just push those people to claim they only log in to keep their forum privileges active.

Mark Katzbach:

We would rather be accommodating towards lapsed players than punish those who have quit the game and decide to post maliciously (not saying that everybody who quits the game does so). No technology can determine one from the other, and it’s not fair to punish the good with the bad.

The reason it was ever under consideration was because subscription-based MMOs typically revoke forum access if you do not have a current (paid) subscription. We investigated how we could achieve the same type of access restriction and, as I said above, determined that it was unfair to lapsed players who may return to the forums for information or answers regarding the current state of the game.

Mark Katzbach:

I’m not trying to discredit anybody here. However, as some have mentioned, they have seen players making posts about having quit the game, yet see those same players on their friends list logging in daily. If you’re posting about how long ago you quit the game, yet log in daily, that’s attention-seeking.

The point I’m getting at here is that while there are people who behave in that manner, there are at least as many, if not more, players who legitimately come and go for whatever reasons and should not be punished for that simple fact. I don’t assume somebody is using those tactics just because they say that they quit the game, and anybody (yes anybody) who is leaving constructive and respectful feedback has a right to leave said feedback, regardless of their last login date.

I should also add that the considerations for this feature were over two years ago when we were launching the forums and determining what type of restrictions to put in place.

Mark Katzbach:

Okay everybody, I think this discussion has run its course. I appreciate all the feedback, and as I said earlier, this isn’t something we’re looking to implement anymore. I think the thing everybody should take away from this is that you can’t unilaterally judge the validity of a person’s opinion on factors external to the content of their comments.

@ OP — All forum posters, regardless of in game activity, are capable of both constructive and unconstructive posts.

One could of course question if someone that have not played for a year would be able to post constructive stuff about the current state of the game, seeing as they are clearly not up to date about what the current state of the game actually is.

Depending on the topic at hand, sure. But there are many active players that aren’t fully aware of the “current state of the game” either.

I’m just saying that blocking a group of people from posting just because they’re inactive isn’t justifiable, in my opinion.

EDIT: Also if its the inactive “trolls” that you really wish to block. How could you or ArenaNet possibly do it? All they would have to do is log in to their account for a second and technically they’re “active” again.

My frustration has been escalating with campers. Those people at Major events that wait at the end of a Meta event and/or Boss spawn and let other people do all the work. Now this wouldn’t be a horrible problem if it were just a few people and it didn’t put those that are doing the pre-events at risk of missing out.

Example?
Dredge Commissar.

More than once I’ve been the only one doing the pre-events and have it pop while I’m out. I port to the nearby WP at SE and run… but unfortunately for me there were 20-30 people camping at Dredge spawn location and I just missed out. When I put the work in – I missed out.

I know life isn’t fair at times. I get that. But this is pathetic.

Remember the Manifesto and the days of launch when they said Dynamic Events would be a way of pulling people together? That you would always LIKE more people to join in? Yeah — Not anymore.

The problem, as others have stated is misunderstanding of the encounter due to a poor tooltip on Anets part.

Copper and Platinum are the worst for this, but the people shouting misinfo is a problem… especially since folks fighting about it are generally not putting out their best DPS.

It’s as simple as ’don’t kill the bubbles near the husk’ I can get maybe that’s hard for people, but that’s the fight. Yelling about AE and the offshoots just shows you don’t know.

~~~
And lets get serious, the Fort Aspenwood solution where you mass reporrt people for trolling when you yourself are wrong about the encounter, that’s just silly.
Please don’t come in here with a “you just don’t understand what you’re talking about” approach. I’m well aware of what does and does not heal the Copper Husk. Regardless of that — You can NOT deny there are people that…
1) Are not listening, whether intentionally or otherwise.
2) Don’t realize they’re causing damage to the offshoots and/or bubbles.
3) Are actively trolling this event because they have such an easy time doing just that.
If there are bubbles and offshoots all around the Copper Husk — then saying “No AoE Please” is a reasonable request.
If a Staff Guardian or some other heavy hitting AoE player is going to town regardless of information given, its not actually their fault but our own? Because we are saying “Please don’t AoE” and not “Please don’t destroy the bubbles”? That’s pathetic and I think you know it.
I WILL agree that when people start raging in map chat and the event fails with just a fraction of health left, I can’t help but be frustrated at them all. It does take away from damage output. I will NOT agree that this event doesn’t need adjustments to compensate for ignorance and/or trolling effectiveness.
