1) No. If you crash before the event ends then you will not get event credit and reward.
2) Yes. Being in a party helps. Or if you recall people in chat and join up on them. If you’re in a party with someone on the original map shard – just right click on their party window and join their map. Taxi service can help if you don’t land back in automatically.
3) There are unique items that drop for many of the World Bosses…. but I believe most can be purchased from the TP. However some of the collection items in particular are so expensive that a new player would most likely not be able to purchase them anytime soon. Other “champs” like Tequatl and Vinewrath have items that you can only get from them and are account-bound.
If you haven’t already – turn your graphic settings down. Helps most people.
Please remain respectful in this thread and on these forums.
Everyone should run PVE meta (Zerker) and start dealing some serious damage.
This statement disgusts me. It is that sad.
Of course, you’ll always have the leechers who figured out the auto-run key, but those folks are dedicated to bad behavior and are going to be nearly impossible to keep out.
Not really. Its much easier to report a player for this if they’re routinely spotted running into corners. I understand it also happens when players crash – but that only lasts so long.
@ OP
Not moving =/= AFK
Not moving = Not contributing
It would be great if Anet could set map caps specific to the needs of each world boss. That means teq and triple trouble still get the required numbers, but the rest can be much lower and allow us to fight them and see them as intended.
It would be better if those of us with subpar computers could get better computers, no? This is not an Anet issue. Its us. I say “us” because I run my settings on the lowest… as I play on a crappy laptop. xD
…add in other bosses such as Foulbear Kraal chieftain…
Please for the love of all that is good – NO
I’d vote destroying the world boss timer schedule long before ever adding those few bosses that aren’t on that horrible zerg train already. I enjoy finding World Bosses/Temples that aren’t on the Anet sponsored zerg fest train and pushing them the way dynamic events were originally designed to be pushed.
8 minute event. For the first 5 minutes a player contributes by stacking might, doing damage, reviving the unfortunate and otherwise contributing. The doorbell rings, so they leave the character on AA at range. It takes 2 minutes, 30 seconds to pay the pizza guy (who has trouble making change). If logged out after 2 minutes, no event credit. In a game where one can get gold event credit for showing up in the last 30 seconds of an 8 minute event, and which gives bronze credit for just being in the area, 2 minutes AFK is too little. It makes more sense in PvP, as noted above.
How exactly does that make more sense in PvP and less in PvE? If a PvP match can last just as long and people are committed to that — Why is it such a giant leap that people that jump into a PvE event should make an equal commitment?
You come back and you didn’t get event credit. Oh well. Move on…. and enjoy your pizza.
Why are we pretending all those people afk during lane defense at Vinewrath are akf because of RL reasons?
Because a minority of them are. Punishing everyone for what amounts to a small percentage of the playerbase exploiting AI and autocast is unacceptable. How do you determine who is and who isn’t legitimately afk? Unless you really want to sit there and log player names and time spent rping a bot?
The people who afk at events in the Silverwastes intentionally really kitten me off. But, like I said, I have to afk too sometimes. And I afk because I really need to, and I really don’t have time to fully log out in the event my dog has a seizure or I suddenly really need to bio. How much would it suck to be penalized for that?
If your dog is having a seizure, I would think you have far bigger worries than whether or not you get to open the chest at the end of a World Boss event. If you’re having to afk frequently and/or for long stretches of time, perhaps you’d be best served turning off the video game and taking care of business.
The you’re asking the wrong question. It’s not “why should I be punished because I have to deal with X?” It’s “why should everyone else be punished because you have to deal with X?” Why should the rest of the map have to carry you while you afk for whatever reasons? Why should someone who wants to join the map be denied the ability to do so because you’re afk for whatever reason.
+1 Well said.
The ban that the OP suggests is a horrible idea — but a much quicker inactivity kick back to the character select screen seems reasonable to me.
While I agree that many people that afk during events do so because of RL reasons – I don’t understand why the 2 minute timer can’t apply to PvE like it does for PvP. I mean if you have to go to the bathroom, answer the phone, help your dog, etc etc …. What’s wrong with doing that and then coming back and seeing your character safe back at your character select screen? Just log back in and continue to play.
PvE is a persistent open world with a map cap of ~150. PvP is a short term instance with a team cap of 5. One person being afk in PvP is a huge detriment to their team. One person being afk in PvE is barely noticable. In PvE, you’re doing stuff in a constantly existing world. Especially in SW, where getting from 0% to vinewraith takes an hour or more. In PvP, you commit to being in a specific short term match.
I’m also not sure what the complaint is in this thread. Is it that people are afking actually in the vinewraith event area and scaling it up, or simply being on the map and doing other stuff? Because if it’s the latter, then it’s not a problem. Breach and Vinewraith are perfectly doable with well under the map cap.
You make a valid point. But currently it isn’t difficult to use the LFG tool to taxi over towards maps that are further along. So if you log back in game and you’re not on your map shard anymore, you could do that. Or if you were in a party (or had friends on your map shard) you can just taxi on them.
I still would prefer active maps versus half dead ones that are filled with afkers waiting for others to push Breach/VW for them (not saying that everyone does that… but many do).
However when the Silverwastes farm becomes less popular sometime in the future – I can see your counter point becoming even more valid, as there would be less shards. Yet wouldn’t that then be easier for your character to fall back into the same map shard that you got kicked from?
The issue is on your end, not Anet’s.
While I don’t like the zerg fest at World Bosses — I also have a guild that runs a WBT every night. We hit roughly 20 bosses a night. It would be increasingly difficult to get them all taxied into the same map shard if this idea were implemented.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
Because this is a casual game for casual people who may be interrupted for 2-3 minutes during a fight for RL reasons.
That’s not a reason to kick them out of the map.
Banning them is even worse. Why are we pretending all those people afk during lane defense at Vinewrath are akf because of RL reasons?
Why are we pretending that this won’t affect all the people who have legitimate reasons for going afk for a few minutes? You know a policy like this wouldn’t just hit one event, it would be in effect everywhere all the time, so no going to the toilet anymore, don’t accept phone calls, ignore the door bell, ect.
While I agree that many people that afk during events do so because of RL reasons – I don’t understand why the 2 minute timer can’t apply to PvE like it does for PvP. I mean if you have to go to the bathroom, answer the phone, help your dog, etc etc …. The only defense I can think of would be people arguing that they wouldn’t have gotten event credit. To which I would respond – You didn’t really earn event credit if you were away for 2 minutes, now did you? RL happens but that doesn’t mean you should be rewarded in game regardless.
This would also help in keeping maps active, imo, without hard capping with dozens of long term afkers. A growing complaint I have with the Anet inspired WBT is all the campers you see at World Boss events that just sit there doing absolutely nothing to help push events. They just tab back into the game when the “timer” says its a go. I’d love for them to tab back into a character select screen instead and then log into the game on a map that hasn’t been pushed yet. Justice.
Just wait. Someday they’ll release an ascended level inventory bag.
Actually kicking them out of the map back to the character log-in screen is reasonable. Like the 2min timer in PvP. Its really not a severe punishment.
The bans that the OP suggests are absolutely ridiculous though.
It is pretty small from what they’ve shown so far though.
I have to agree here. Hopefully they surprise me further in the next several months with more information and I’m mistaken in my belief that it all seems too small. Right now, even with them announcing an “expansion”, I find it all very lackluster. * sigh *
….what is so detrimental about adding the dmg splash back to stealthed opponents?
My best guess?
A combat mechanic that is imbalanced is being threatened with a considerate amount of balance.
…and nobody is even addressing the tweak I’ve suggested of adding a dmg splash to stealthed opponents, and instead everyone continues to dance around the subject and try and tell me I don’t know how to play the game, or pointlessly bash stealth because that have no idea how to fight a stealthed opponent.
I did, actually.
But yes – the fanatics have definitely come out to play with you in this thread.
At very least the game should still show damage splashes on opponents which have been struck.
(this, of course would not apply to projectiles or ranged attacks)
I agree here. It makes no sense that stealth is more than simple invisibility. If I strike an invisible opponent with a melee weapon then I should know that I hit them, instantly.
My L2P advise: equip a superior sigil of fire.
Edit: And there are in fact 17562481756234 indicators of where a thief is: best indicator is that thief is a melee class. So where can the thief be?
Thanks but I wasn’t looking for your advice nor do I care for it. I was simply sharing my opinion on a slight flaw in an otherwise good game mechanic. Something aimed at the Devs that may or may not read this thread.

It’s not a grindy game. Actually, it’s the least grindy MMO I’ve ever played. There is more than one way to obtain materials. We have a trading post for instance, that offers a lot of items. Among them are materials required for ascended gear. There are even more ways to get gold to pay for those items.
Players always want the most efficient way to get their hands on stuff, and so they start grinding. That is their choice, not Anets. Perhaps players complaining about grinding need to abandon this maximum-efficiency way of thinking. There is plenty of opportunity in life to apply this kind of logic. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you’re either very young or very lucky. It’s just a bad way of thinking when you’re relaxing and doing stuff for fun. That is still what gaming is about, right?
Well said. Thank you.
Um…
If you all were so bloody organized and on TS, why didn’t you just have people join your commander’s squad? Simple solution to the problem.
From what I understand from OP’s posts, these players kept bursting the poison bubbles at the wrong times.
At Indigo that means failing the event… Having the people on TS join the correct squad wouldn’t help I’m afraid :-(
It would help with his commander tag complaint. Otherwise its just a bunch of people deciding to troll for whatever reason. Random trolls can’t be stopped on singular instances like this. We have options like blocking, reporting, asking them nicely to stop, and/or switching maps. Unfortunately I do believe the only time they’re actually “in the wrong” is if the trolls follow you from one map to another.

Hoping rebuilding LA is an event we can be a part of. Heck, I’d go logging for supply and build things myself if I could.
If we could have done that we’d be done rebuilding LA by now. Instead we have the same workers pounding on the same nails with NOTHING to show for it.
These “nerf zerker” threads are just like those “holy trinity” threads that just need to be auto-closed.
That is ridiculous. These forums are here for the sharing of ideas, opinions, complaints, and the like. If you don’t like a certain subject — Just avoid them. Also please don’t forget that no player controls what is or isn’t nerfed, buffed, added, removed, or changed in the game. Its the Devs that make that decision.
Those folks working on repairs at LA must have been trained by CalTrans, the only people who can repave a road and leave the potholes intact. They aint made any progress that I can see.
It’s been how long with zero progress? 9 months?
Inexcusable.
Non-zerk gear can be a real problem in timed events.
When you are in sivlerwastes trying to kill Husk in 5 minutes and half the people there are wearing nomads…
How do you know what they’re wearing? Just because you feel like there is a decrease in DPS at your events doesn’t mean the cause is because of gear alone. But you know what? I can play your game.
Zerk gear can be a real problem in timed events.
When you are in Silverwastes trying to kill _________ in 5 minutes and half the people there are unskilled zerkers that end up dying and laying there the whole time.
See what I did there?
So basically the people saying berserker is lazy are the ones who have likely never played it?
I have multiple characters decked out in Berserker gear AND with a glass trait setup. While it can be difficult in certain cases, and therefor can’t be described as “lazy” in all instances, there are just as many cases where it is just that. Rather… it is to those of us that perceive it that way.
Do I wish Berserker setups to be nerfed? No.
Surprised?
I feel the real problem is that there isn’t enough risk in being a glass cannon in this game. Challenge? Yes, in many cases. But not all. Active defenses can be used just as strongly on a zerker as a non-zerker character. Risk? Where is the risk? Glass should shatter and break if used by the unskilled or unwary. Yet we have none of that. The only thing that we risk in this game when we run berserker and fail is taking seconds or minutes longer at certain content. Which means next to nothing.
So for me personally it is not about the gear. Its about a lack of adequate risk vs. reward. Enemy AI is horrible. Consequences for dying almost non-existent. Poor game design where time spent farming for X amount of gold is more important than great, immersive gameplay.
The vast majority of the Silverwastes, the most recent area they gave us to keep us busy, is grind.
Grind events to get badges to get extractors to grind breach/vinewrath bosses for parts/carapace boxes for the collections.
Sure, its optional, but this is the content they want us to do.
Technically, the whole game is grind if you look at it that way. Grind events to get the stuff or the experience, or the achievements. Grind WvW for its stuff. Grind dungeons for their stuff. Grind anything you want for gold so you can buy more stuff you don’t need.
. . . honestly, it’s thankfully less of a grind than real life is.
Isn’t that the truth.
Nothing that you “grind” for in this game is required in order to play the game. Not even the vast majority of the endgame. As others have already stated — too many of you are forcing it upon yourselves. Not ArenaNet. Just yourselves. But you don’t want to hear that…. so I’m pretty much wasting my time right now.
Some people clearly need a recall :
- An MMO is considered “grindy” if one has to repeat a small set of simple and uninteresting tasks in order to reach the level cap and enjoy the “end-game content”
- Having objects or rewards that require grind in a game does not make it “grindy”
- In GW2 the end-game content can be summed up as : dry top + silverwastes ; megaboss ; living world ; dungeons and fractals. Of all these only fractals of level 10+ require ascended equipment. Thus one with exotic gear can access 100% of endgame content since you walk through the same fractals at level or 50 (only the difficulty changes).
- And GW2 gives you tools to bypass the leveling process for your alts (exp tomes + skill scrolls + gold to buy traits).
With that in mind, one cannot possibly claim that GW2 is a grindy MMO. The ones who do either :
- Want everything handeled to them immediately without breaking a sweat.
- bash the game for the sake of bashing Anet/the game.
Edit : I’d also like to remind you all that ascended tier items were added because a vocal minority (not pointing fingers here) asked for something to grind for once they’ve finished the game.
+1
I agree with all that you said, VodCom. People aren’t being realistic about all the things involved in making and playing an MMORPG.
They’re expecting a large bump in their 3rd/4th quarter earnings of this year, right? It would make sense that HoT is the reason for it.
Easy. You don’t get access to the content that comes with HoT.
If there is only one then it isn’t really a ‘specialization’.
Specialization implies choice.
Yeah. Its less Specialization and more profession/class evolution at that point. Perhaps they’re using Specialization because they plan to release more than one this time or another option in their second expansion (like… another three years from now).
Megaservers did hurt the RP community — but some are still around. Just have to find them.
Mesmers would be better suited for much of what the Chronomancer was designed to do, IMO. Don’t get me wrong, I’d enjoy new professions if/when they come…. but I think they already took much of their initial Chronomancer concept and applied it.
To answer your first question: No, not really. Though I think I remember one of the recent LS rewards being 3 Charged Quartz Crystals or something like it.
Just charge one each day for a month and you’ll be ready to make a full set of armor. If porting to a place of power daily is of issue — some people just leave an alt on one and farm it daily.
A month is not a horrible amount of time. Yes, that is my personal belief. I understand that. Another belief of mine? I’m perfectly fine that the game has items in it that aren’t available for instant gratification.
Either way — Good luck.
While we are fighting the “issue” of scaling by dead players, maybe we should also do something for those using Sentinel or any kind of Defensive gear. Maybe also for those using condition based builds/gear.
One person using not-optimized for damage gear will make the event take way longer than a full DPS character. How about these guys? Is it the next logical step after dead players?
About the same as a non-skilled individual with a glass setup that doesn’t care when/if they die, I’d say.
I don’t feel like hunting it down but I do believe that the Chronomancer was an idea for Guild Wars: Utopia. When GW2 was announced the profession was scrapped along with Utopia.
hmm maybe some realistic solutions…
-better placement of waypoints to reduce running times
-removing wp fees, because I dont know why for the life of me some players would rather keep 1-2 silver and fail an event….
Realistic solutions?! Taking away the only penalty there is in dying in a game that doesn’t have enough penalty for it to begin with? * facepalm *
-take an idea from wvw and implement a forced wp timer countdown to get rid of dead players in events.
I can at least agree with this. I’d say something like 1min if the player lays dead within an event perimeter.
No.
I checked the numbers and everything is normal. There is less than a .01 standard deviation since the beginning of the year in day over day ratio of ecto to dust.
Thank you for getting back to us so quickly.
There are those of us that have not allowed our hopes to be raised. That way we won’t be disappointed but may be happily surprised. To answer your question though – People were raging before, having them continue to do so afterwards would be no different.
I like the look of the outfit. I won’t lie about that.
Yet the majority of my characters are Charr and you’ll never catch me wearing a dress on one.
I would like a 30sec-1min respawn timer on the dead that are within an active event circle.
Please forgive me for the following…
There have been too many players returning that open up the same type of thread. “Look at me, I’m back! Now what has changed?” The information you’re looking for is found in the links I posted and the Releases tab that Inculpatus mentioned above. Its all there. Yet even with it posted you want us to do the work for you and compile a list of the changes so you don’t have to go look? No. I won’t do it.
Here are two links you can sift through.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/
and
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates
You can find the changes over the last year there. Enjoy.
I was under the impression that you could achieve this title from just buying the T1 sets if you had a Scholar, Adventurer, and Soldier from each race. That T2 and T3 were not required.
I am afraid you do need to buy a complete set from each Tier. You can look it up in the Wiki as mentioned above.
Good luck.
My mistake then.
File a report if you want a replacement. They will not refund you but they may offer you a replacement.
You can also equip them all if you only infuse one of each duplicate.

What next? nerf all Power stat across the board? lol
Anything is possible.
