A loooooot better than the previous. The damage, healing, it all throws me back to Wintersday bunker ele’s. I really liked the vid, great job! The fight with the engineer got me on the edge of my seat, seeing you get to 5% of your health and cleansing yourself just in time.
A few things: try to time your churning earths properly, by using lightning flash to move away from the target while still in range. (If air 3 isn’t up) That way, you won’t get interrupted. Also, when channeling ether renewal, switch to earth for protection. (and stability/toughness, if traited for it). Lastly, have you considered going with reaper of grenth just for the lolz? Firey greatsword’s definitely better but it’d be nice to see reaper used at least once in wvw.
Again, great vid, I’m waiting for more!

RIFLES FOR ELEMENTALISTS!
@AnetSupport – I’M THROWING MY MONEY AT THE SCREEN AND IT ISN’T WORKING!!

No-one appreciates my references. :/
Anyway, using my awesome google powers, I have unveiled the answer to your question!
It’s an item that was released for a limited time after beta. Source: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragon_Emblem_Shirt
Any more questions? Don’t ask here right away. Google it first.

It’s a quest reward.
In order to find it, you will have to perform a series of devious challenges. First, collect a few brown rocks for me. Then, defeat a kitten Skale. Then, pilfer the lost staff of Mount Schuler. THEN you shall bring me the head of the Destroyer of Worlds, and THEN YOU SHALL DANCE FOR MY ENJOYMENT! HAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHA—"

BIG HEAP OF STUFF
You forgot rifles for elementalists. Because you listed a LOT of close/mid weapons. And because magical gunners are AWESOME.
I’m not opposed to Rifles for Elementalists, but they don’t seem like an obvious fit either. All the “Magical Gunner” disciplines I’ve encountered in fantasy have used handguns… at least all the ones that spring to mind.
Also, I see no reason why ANY of the Elementalist choices I listed couldn’t be used as a focus for longer reach than the actual swing of the weapon, like Mesmer Greatswords or Necromancer Axes.
Hmmm. Good point. But I’m still not budging on rifles. You said it yourself, handguns have been done before. Why not rifles?
In fact, if you havn’t yet, go play Borderlands 2. So many examples of elemental weapons done perfectly.

Quick question – of either gender, which do you think have the better animations?
My vote goes to females.

Greatsword Ele, several threads about thsi get upvoted quite a bit!
And rifles.
On another note, if both do actually get implemented, we should have a “friendly” duel.

Hammers and Maces for Engineer finally be able to use Fixer upper, but please make maces and hammers actually good on Engi, unlike Warriors and Guardians they are bad..
Hammer guardian squads are terrifying.

First of all: Conditions tick during mist forn as well. With 30 in water, and using 2 traits it mist form does cure a single condition. Also I can’t believe that there’s an invulnerability discussion going on without mentioning Blurred Frenzy. 2s evade on 12s cooldown while dealing damage.
9 1/2 seconds if you trait it, so every 9 seconds you got a free invulnerability+damage. Well at least the mesmer isn’t as fast as the elementalist right?
I dunno about you but I’ve seen some very fast mesmers. And great escapes via portal.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
10 in either air for zephyr’s boon (grants fury and swiftness – better dps and mobility than the crap fire traits) or earth for a couple traits (up to you)

But. I wanna fire a pistol XD Unless rifles allow for magic headshots!
Or both
Rifle for magical sniper, pistols for magical duelist. Cowboy with magic!

Ele’s are perfectly fine in PvE. It’s WvW that is the source of a lot of issues.

NEW SKILLS/SKINS:
Brawling: Either truly Bare-Handed with nothing in the weapon slot, or using Gauntlets/Knuckles/Claws/Katars with distinct weapon skins, or with Bracers/Bracelets or whatever that would give you a normal weapon stat bonus and a place to attach Sigils, but wouldn’t change the appearance of your character’s fists or your actual Glove equipment. Brawling may animate with Headbutts, Kicks, Tackles, Elbow and Knee strikes, etc, and the specific style may be more elegant or refined for some classes while others are brutal and direct. The Thief #3 skills would treat Brawling weapons in the off hand the way they currently treat nothing at all in that hand. Grapples probably wouldn’t work so well with this animation system, so these would be strike-heavy styles.Shotguns: Current Engineer Rifle skills would be moved here, while current Warrior Rifle skills would stay on Rifles.
Polearms: Spears, Lances, Halberds, Tridents etc. on land. If it is designed mainly as a Stabbing/Thrusting weapon with a side order of Slashing, this is the place it goes.
Great-Axes: Any two-handed weapon that animates with Swinging and Chopping, so Scythe skins would also go here.
Martial Staves: A Staff that you use to hit guys over the head, rather than as a focus for magical effects. In FFXI the nomenclature was Staves = Magical Focus, Poles = Smacking People, but to avoid confusion with Polearms I’ll stick with Martial Staves for now.
Crossbows: Contrary to popular opinion, widespread use of Crossbows overlapped for quite some time with fairly advanced firearms.
Shuriken: Actually a catch-all for throwing stars, small knives, razor-edged playing cards, poisoned needles, fists full of miscellaneous shrapnel (Engineer style would emphasize this last option), etc.
Whips: Also includes fighting chains and oddball hybrid weapons like the Kusarigama, even if the animation style wouldn’t match at all with historic usage.
BY PROFESSION:
Guardians – Brawling, Polearms, Martial Staves, Shortbows, Longbows and Crossbows.
Warriors – Brawling, Great-Axes, Polearms, Martial Staves, Shotguns, Main and Off-Hand Pistols and Crossbows.
Rangers – Brawling, Rifles, Martial Staves, Shotguns, Whips, Great-Axes, Shuriken, Polearms and Crossbows.
Thieves – Brawling, Rifles, Martial Staves, Shuriken, Whips, Off-Hand Swords and Crossbows.
Engineers – Brawling, Maces, Hammers, Shuriken and Rifles. The extra resources left by the lower overall selection would go into custom skins for Kits.
Necromancers – Brawling, Polearms, Main and Off-Hand Pistols, Whips, Martial Staves, Off-Hand Axes and Great-Axes.
Mesmers – Brawling, Off-Hand Pistols, Shuriken, Rifles, Shortbows, Whips, Polearms, Martial Staves.
Elementalists – Brawling, Main and Off-Hand Swords, Off-Hand Torches, Martial Staves, Main and Off-Hand Pistols, Polearms and Spears (the Underwater kind).FINAL THOUGHTS
Several of these would be handled just as well as Alternate Weapon Skills for the same weapons, such as the Rifle/Shotgun split (so the Engineers with the Predator don’t get shafted out of the skin), the nebulous difference between Polearms and Greataxes (depending on how you wield your Halberd), and the Martial and Magical applications of Staves. But then the burden is on the player to find a skin that looks good with the skills they’re using, like if they’re doing all the stabby Polearm skills using a giant double-bladed battle axe.
You forgot rifles for elementalists. Because you listed a LOT of close/mid weapons. And because magical gunners are AWESOME.

Lettuce, everybody and their mother knows about lightning flash. We’ve known for a year.
The reason why it doesn’t work against other people who are skilled and experienced is because it’s so easy to dodge. Burning a cantrip or two only makes a bad move even worse. If you’re saying you’re able to hit people with it consistently, then we have nothing more to say because you’re destroying yourself by admitting you play against bad players.
I’ll indulge you anyway and say churning earth and flash works for ambushing. Other than that, using it in a duel or small fight is just an awful move.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
Rifles on elementalists! I wanna use the Predator, the legendary rifle, on mine so bad.
Or the Modulator for electricity and stuff, like http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OCmCLmlwcxs&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DOCmCLmlwcxs
Oh, and maces for engineers. Because of the Fixer-Upper exotic mace. It’s a freaking wrench, man!

I’ve been asking for elementalist rifles for a while now. I feel people are limiting their view of this setting far too much.
Tyria isn’t a standard fantasy setting. Like it or not, it has some heavy steampunk elements added to it. Even some magiteck sci fi elements. And there are two races that I guarantee would have developed magic-based rifle combat. Charr and asura.
Recall if you will that all asuran technology is heavily magic based. All those laser guns and energy cannons? That isn’t technology, it’s magic. There are already magical firearms in the game. And the charr are pure pragmatists. Why arm a soldier with a staff when they can be armed with a rifle and get similar results? As a charr elementalist I’m not just a wizard, I’m a soldier who happens to use magic in the field.
Rifle can easily exist as a magical weapon in lore, and in fact does exist. We just don’t have access to a magical firearm outside the mesmer’s pistol.
I always felt the elementalist rifle should be a mixed bag of two animations though. Shooting animations for the single target shot spells and the auto attacks, but also able to be waved in the air the way the staff is to bring down ground targeted spells and AoEs.
If you can channel magic through a stick, why not a stick that shoots hot lead from one end?
Amazing post. Seriously.
Evidence that it can be done, already is in the lore, AND how it could be done. +1
Also, anyone who thinks elemental rifles cannot be done has obviously never played Borderlands 2.

^ This is just one example out of dozens.
I mean really. What is there to say that the Asura haven’t figured out magical pistols.
That being said. I kind of feel like with the way Eles work and the way rifle’s work, that maybe a rifle might not be the best choice?
Perhaps the pistol?
Ele’s already have weapons for close and mid range fights. Staff provides long range utility by blasting areas and providing fields. But it’s not quite the same, being diluted and spread out.
Rifles provide the package needed for true kiting and long range single target bursting.
Everyone needs a little optimism!
Full celestial setup isn’t necessarily the best build. Some would go for more tanky setups, or more bursty setups, or even condition setups. The gears you mentioned sounds good, a well rounded build for survivability and burst damage. You’re already good to go!
Everyone needs a little optimism!
I’m sick of people like LightningBlaze cluttering up this forum.
There is nothing neccessarily wrong with players like him, they provide another prospective, I just wish that they realize that their prospective is extremely flawed. Beating players in WvW doesn’t really say anything about the class, because they are a lot of things that make WvW combat different from pvp. Not including the difference in the way certain skills operate, you got server bonuses, foods, rune combination, the fact that most t1/t2 players are simply headless chickens without a crew behind them.
I will say that the worst are the PvE heroes coming in here and acting like being good at mindless braindead predictable PvE mobs is something to be proud. OMG I can provide mediocre support and do mediocre damage = elementalist being good.
I totally understand where you’re coming from. Really! I love an optimist much as the next guy (my email and account names always includes “optimistic”, lol)
But all I’ve seen from LightningBlaze isn’t positive posts on how he’s playing and building his elementalist differently as a case for argument. No, all he does for almost every post is to start with “I have a level 80 ele” then “I don’t understand why you people aren’t like me” and “Lol, ele’s are fine, you guys just need to learn to play” and the succintly ends with a “I also won a 1v+3, nobigdeal”
I realize I’m wasting my time talking about guys like him but I just want the ele forums to be a muh better place for rational discussion and constructive feedback.

Still trying to picture exactly how an Elementalist would use a rifle.
Unless… shooting elementally powered spheres of energy that have various results. That’s 20 brand new skills they could toy around with. Would love to see an air skill with the rifle that is basically ball lightning that bounces between foes causing damage and stunning.
Like this?

How about not waste money or time making a Legendary only usable by two classes, neither of whom you seem to care for much?
They will probably either eventually come out with more Legendary weapons OR expand the weapons classes can use (so more can use Longbow) so rather then getting one for two classes you don’t play why not wait?
If that day ever comes, I’ll transmute Kudzu to a low level weapon and transfer the graphic to one of my other classes. I assume you can do that with Legendaries, anyway.
I’ll assume you’ll also lose the ability for said Legendary to have custom stats when that day comes as well.
Should I care about stats? It was my understanding that Legendaries have the exact same stats as Exotics, and the only point in getting them is for their unique graphics.
You should, if you wanna try multiple builds.

Divinity runes are the ticket ehh so $$$$ haha. I take it people use the 2/water/monk to synergize with sigil of battle allowing you to retain those stacks due to longer boon duration?
For cantrip builds, yeah. You can opt for major runes of water for a little more boon duration or superior runes of melandru to stack with lemongrass food for -50% condition duration.

I spotted a fallacy in the american consitution. Here it is.
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union” – Wait a flipping second. MORE PERFECT? That’s impossible! “Perfect” is as good as it can possibly get, and even THAT is impossible in itself.
Well, at leats you were confident, I’ll give you that, but you’re really in over your head.
What is my theory then? Americans aim too high.Nah man, you just have to give 110% and it will work out.
Point being, you can’t reach “more perfect” , it’s a fallacy, “perfect” means that it couldn’t be better in any possible way. And a lot of things could be better for you people =P
Now I am disappointed. First of all I am not American.
Secondly my comment about 110% was a joke that supported what you said as it is impossible just the same to give 110% since 100% is all you have…I would’ve thought you would’ve caught that joke….oh well, I won’t ask where you’re from.
With an attitude like that, I’m glad you’re not.

Anyways. I’ve always had a lingering suspicion that maybe Trahearne is corrupted and doesn’t know it yet. Not by Zhaitan, obviously, the poor sod.
Not sure if you’re serious, lol. But I think there’s something odd with Trahearne as well, if you are. He may be all “goody-goody”, but something seems off with him.
I was being sarcastic! Honest!
And yeah, the first time I played through the story, I always felt like I was going to get stabbed in the back. Which is odd, because my senses are almost always correct when watching movies and TV shows.

High vitality, toughness, precision, and power.

I sure hope whatever way they implement, its going to be challenging, and not just challenging in a RNG or time-sink sense.
Something like for example, give DEs its own dungeon-like reward system. And then make some of the best skills be unlock-able by doing some difficult events like Temples to gather their specific tokens to buy them.
I’m more concerned about whether we get to wield more weapons or not than utilities.

Yes indead that ‘s true. Yet its mostly the people who don’t even take a fraction of time to do some real calculations, comparissions and discuss it properly but spit superlatives around that complain about some numbers being wrong. And that ’s not even taking into consideration that you need to test those theories out as well and lear those in practice …
